I've been running Halo Reach custom games for a while now.
Getting some traction with them, so I'll be posting when I host a session here.

Halo: Reach has mod tools that allow you to create custom gametype scripts that anyone can play through the custom games browser, without having to download anything.
Some months ago, I used these tools to create custom Slayer and Firefight gametypes that brought Reach's gameplay closer to playing like Halo CE, with tons of small physics and gameplay adjustment.
Posted about this and hosted several games on /vg/.
Eventually this gametype evolved into an Elites-only Slayer gametype, with an extremely limited weapon selection; Concussion Rifles, Energy Swords, Plasma Rifles, Needlers, and Plasma Pistols. This ended up being a lot of fun. Came up with "Bangheilios" for a cheeky nickname.

This has further evolved. Expanded the sandbox with a few more weapons, Forge-edited several maps to fit the gametype, and created a King of the Hill variant.

Running a new gametype called "Communist FFA"
This is a gametype I came up with because I realized it's tricky to keep people playing custom games if there's a skill gap.
Sometimes, as a host, players will quit quickly if I'm playing better than they are, or alternatively, players who are better than me will quit out of boredom after a few matches: if nobody else joins.

So I was thinking about game design theory and player retention and came up with a simple idea: a gametype where the players in the lead get handicaps.
Players with leading scores get 75% damage, 90% damage resistance, and a big marker over their heads.
This gives lower skill players a leg-up, makes it easier to kill high skill players, but I hope it also provides high skill players incentive to play their best: because if you win while saddled with a ton of handicaps you're truly the best of the best.

My plan is to run games according to a schedule. I might run other games in addition to this, but you can always expect the same games, twice a day, every day, weekly, at these hours:
For Burgers it would be at 6am EST and 6pm EST (or 3am PST and 3pm PST)
For UK anons, that's 11pm GMT and 11am GMT

Sol Sunday - Halo 3 - Isolation - (gametype pending, probably Neutral Bomb)
Moon Monday - Reach - Damnation Anniversary - Neutral Flag CTF (modded Halo CE gameplay)
Tyr Tuesday - Halo 2 - Beaver Creek - Neutral Flag(?) possibly something more suited to the map
Wotan Wednesday - Halo 3 - Valhalla - CTF
Thor Thursday - Reach - Neutral Flag CTF (modded CE)
Frigg Friday - Halo 3 - Snowbound - Neutral Bomb(?)
Saturn Saturday - Halo 2 - Relic - Neutral Flag CTF (Plasma Rifle/Magnum starts)

Gonna tweak these as I go. Might forge edit maps and customize gametypes where appropriate. Aiming for laid back team objective play. I generally dislike very sweaty matches and prefer team synergy gametypes.

Again, I'll run each daily map/gametype twice a day, 12 hours apart, according to the aforementioned schedule.

Was meaning to run Sol Sunday about 6 hours ago, Neutral Bomb Assault on Isolation, edited to have a more chill team gameplay oriented sandbox, but got a bit sick. You'll forgive me, won't you?

After lurking an /hg/ thread with a discussion about powerful weapons in Halo, came up with a Halo 3 gametype called "Power Fantasy" and edited the map Isolation to support it
>SMG and Energy Sword as starting weapons
>4 Machine Gun turrets on the map
>SMGs, Maulers, Gravity Hammers, Battle Rifles, Flamethrower, Spike Grenades, Firebombs, Ghosts, and a Chopper
>Invincibility, Overshields, Regenerators, Bubble Shields, Radar Jammers, and Flares (if you don't know the Invincibility equipment: it's a H3 campaign equipment piece that gives you about 10 seconds of invincibility. You'd think this would be terrible for balance, worse than Overshields and Armor Lock, but the fact that players can drop it if they don't use it makes it very interesting in multiplayer)
The idea with these weapons is that they're weapons that look cool and sound good.
On top of this, gave players 150% damage resistance to slow down the pace of the combat.

Ran a quick test session and it seemed to go over well.
Surprisingly it seems pretty *Fair and Balanced* despite the overpowered sandbox.

I will plan to run this for the 2nd session of Sol Sunday, in about 5 and a half hour

Here's a rundown on the gametypes (the ones that aren't self explanatory)

Power Fantasy Team Slayer - Player has 150% damage resistance. SMG and Energy Sword starts. Weapons on the map (currently only Isolation) are edited, with the goal of feeding into Halo's power fantasy: Machine gun turrets, Flamethrower, Maulers, Gravity Hammers, BRs, SMGs, Spike Grenades, Firebombs, Radar Jammer, Flare, Overshields, and Invincibility equipment.
2 ghosts and a Chopper.
The weapons are laid out symmetrically.

Bangheilios Magnums - Team Slayer. Elites-Only. A modded gametype with physics and gameplay approximating that of Halo CE. Players spawn with Plasma Rifles, Magnums, Plasma Grenades, and Evade. Weapons on the map are limited to Plasma Pistols, Plasma Rifles, Needlers, Concussion Rifle, Energy Swords, Plasma Grenades, and the Active Camo pickup.
Taking lessons from some of my other gametypes, the Magnum is modded to have 110% bloom, the rate-of-fire of Halo 2's Magnum, and Full Auto enabled. With 110% Bloom it's critical to pace your shots if you want to hit anything at range, but with Halo 2's RoF and full auto, the Magnum becomes an excellent quickdraw sidearm.
Additionally, there is some rubberbanding at play in this version of Bangheilios: taken from Commie FFA, the player(s) with the lead score are hit with nerfs to help even the score.

Neutral Flag CTF (for Thor Thursday) - Modded gametype to have Halo CE physics and gameplay + the same modded Magnum from Bangheilios

Snowbound (Frigg Friday) - The gametype is default Neutral Bomb Assault (with the addition of a Magnum secondary weapon) but the map has been edited to promote team play. The Beam Rifle and Spartan Laser have been removed from their respective bases and each replaced with a Mauler. The Brute Shot over the Shotgun has been replaced with a Sentinel Beam. The Brute Shot near the Ghost spawn has been replaced with Rockets. Overshield and Active Camo are replaced with Invincibility and Cloaking.
