The hammerhead is now officially a rare ship and no longer a loaner for absolutely anything.
>>1507992good riddance its fugly
What are you guy's general thought on game balance after maelstrom? They larger ships will be immune to mall gun fire, and will need a proper sized ship to destroy it. Secondly, you have AI blades coming in, how will that change gun boats and multicrew.Look at this, no blades, just the PDC melting ships in Arena commander in the 890 jump.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SllUhiSkAJgHow will you think AI blades+ very strong armour in heavy ships will change PVP/PVE?
>>1507356baka zoomer. see >>1507074 >>1507076
>>1508017It's still way too early to say anything definitive outside heavy speculation and continued balancing, but Maelstrom in particular does still strongly emphasize what CIG is trying to do with ship combat, e.g., picking the right ship/weapon for the right job. But they have from now till then to make multicrew enticing enough to have multiple players want to crew in a big ship over having them in separate ships, because that is and will continue to be the biggest hurdle to multicrew gameplay, no matter the tech they introduce.
>>1508017Imo different ship guns and ships should be pretty hardlocked. Only bombers from small ships can hurt large, large cant hit fighters etc.For example; s5 guns and larger can damage large ships. make ships of different sizes tackle other ships of the same size range.
>>1507992>Call brother to chitchat about the game and let him know he has a polaris now since its a loaner for the Idris.>"Well, I already had one. I have one of every capital ship except the Endeavour because its dumb."Whales gonna whale.Though I don't think he has the Odyssey or Galaxy either since he stopped putting money into the game in 2019.
can you hit 60fps @ 4k in this game? (server performance problems aside)
>>1508066Even if you did what's the point? Nothing works.
>>1508066You picked up the new, 11000x3d cpu, right?
>>1508017>>1508030I think probably the best way to implement the "small gun vs. big ship" issue is to give guns a "stagger" value that determines how much damage is needed to pause shield regen. Make the stagger values scale more heavily with weapon size than DPS, so 4S2s do more damage than 2S4s but won't stop larger shields from regenerating.Change the Ares Ion from a charged sniper cannon to the ion frigate from Homeworld where its damage ramps up the longer it succesfully hits the target.
>>1508068I'm using a 4790k and a 1070. I was thinking I'd build my next PC to target starcitizen but it's taking (a little) longer than I expected. just wondering if the latest hardware can achieve that performance
>>1508017All I want from AI blades is for the Zeus' turret to shoot at the pilot's target and maybe continue shooting at it when it zooms past.
>>1508073come back in ~2 years
>>1508073Dude I bought into SC in highschool figuring I'd maybe get to play it after I graduated college. I've got a degree now and astable career in my field and it doesn't look any closer. Just put it in your backpocket so you don't lose your login info and check in once every year or 2, maybe swap a ship.
>>1508028They need to add a ton more habs before they can really add a mechanic where you go back to them, otherwise it'd end up being a nightmare trying to spawn there during events or any time after server caps really grow. Personally I just want to be able to choose and rent an apartment that's more substantial than a hab, and what'd make it even better is if it were attached to hangars.
>>1508017I have doubts about how blades will be implemented. They've said in the past that they'll only work on remote turrets so that negates a lot of large ships' armament, and also that there'll be plenty of blades with other functions and using your slots for turrets could be a bad idea. I think armor coming in is going to change a lot though.>>1508048What could be interesting is if they made it so that big guns don't get pips when targeting small ships. That way you COULD delete fighters with an S7 or whatever but it'd take a lot of skill or luck. I'm not sure I'm in love with that idea though. >>1507992I wish CIG would release ownership numbers for ships. It'd be interesting to see how many people actually own Hammerheads, I pretty much never see them in anybody's fleet pics unless they're gigawhales. Sounds like that might get even worse with the new Anvil ship coming out too, the datamined description calls it a "gunship" and it seems to be in the 120m range, so very similar to the HH but probably a lot better thought out.
I came back to the game to check out my polaris. How do I save my power settings? It keeps getting reset everytime I switch modes or get in/out of my ship
>>1507986Pray it's a gunship rather than a dropship. Don't wanna get stuck paying the dropship tax.

I'm pretty excited for this years IAE. Hope it isn't too buggy to enjoy some free ship flying :)
>>1508583I can't wait for the new crusader ship! I hear it's designed around a big gun!
>>1508520>spirit - 4x size 3 and 2x size 2, can carry a fury, bike or tumbril, has bombs which are useless, size 2 components all round>guardian - 2x size 5 guns about the same DPS as the spirit, can't carry anything, size 1 power plant and only 1 size 2 shield. Worst DPS and survivability out of any heavy fighter. Probably will require ballistics because of the tiny power plantIf it's a choice between those 2 then get the A1. Guardian is already outclassed by all heavy fighters and most medium fighters and has no utility.
>>1508633Dual S5 should be pretty good once armor and penetration matter. The power plants and shield are weird but hopefully they've done some arbitrary shit to make the PPs work, since it comes with M7As, and the shield might be somewhat acceptable since it's a pretty small ship for a heavy with an interior, about the size of a Prospector. That size also gives it another advantage, it'll should fit in the Polaris hangar, which has a few interesting synergies, the interior means you can press it into service as a shuttle or dropship and the S5s should let it snipe PDCs off of enemy ships from outside the range of most defenses so that the Polaris has a clear shot for its torps.
>>1508597It does look cool from what I've seen. I'm looking for a new small solo mission running ship. A la Cutter Rambler, etc.
>>1508746Right now though it's sub par. And we can only guess it's effectiveness regarding armor. Bit of a risk.

>1 of 3 new event missions>need to protect a hauler from several light fighters>break out the lightning >start fighting>arrow/buccaneer are jousting me and can take impossible amounts of damageI'm starting to understand why the fucking Idris was nearly impossible to kill.
>>1508815Yeah. Might still be alright for now though, the only real alternative is the Vanguard, which has gotten really dated, and while the Guardian isn't optimal it's probably good enough for PvE and none of the heavies are meta for PvP right now so it may not make a huge difference, though a lot depends on what the energy ammo count is like. I do think that a mixed loadout could be interesting for PvE, with a single S5 repeater or cannon being good enough to deal with most of the small ships and the ballistic adding punch for big stuff.
>>1508953I ran out of ammo on my gatlings and leaving fails the mission..
Just an FYI: boarding the Idris permanently bugs the mission for the server, making it impossible to complete. Also, please don't take a Polaris. The Idris has a stupid amount of point-defense and your Polaris' PDC will start targeting friendlies.
The Zeus buyable in game, or are they making us wait for 4.0
>>1509193Gonna have to wait.
Is there a way to reduce the radius that the power and engine buttons have? I'm trying to change my power settings but the game keeps powering off my ship.
>>1509327Very much a CIG issue they need to fix asap, and one you can't really do shit about, unfortunately. There is an option to toggle the "F" icon off in the general settings, but that won't solve the problem. One baindaid solution is that you can do in the meantime is bind different keys to adjust the power blocks for each component without the need to hold F.
15 MINUTES.Kinda funny but the timer doesn't actually count down. You have to refresh the page to get it to update. Classic CIG.

>>1509561Attritions work as of the last patch.
>>1509561Please understand. We can't insure individual items because of the risk of duping. People can spawn C-2s en masse but if someone had two Star Kitten helmets the economy would collapse.
>>1509561Account bound items will be able to be reclaimed through a service that has been "almost ready"â„¢ for like 6 months meaning they're never truly gone.
>k-type star>emits light across the visible spectrumThey had one job.
>>1509517Holy fucking shit, I'm one of 2 people that actually like this thing and I was praying it would be less than an avenger. It's fucking more?! It had a size 3 originally, and that wasn't a mistake. These absolute retards wanted to sell the literal weakest starter they've ever made for more than an avenger.
Has CIG ever backed down on a price from fan backlash? Should I wait and see if they announce the person to made the price for the Intrepid actually had brain cancer and their lowering it to 50$ or something more in the realm of reality? I really wanted it, but now I feel like a retarded cuck for buying one of the objectively worst starters, which gets out DPSed by 30$ ships and everyone thinks is ugly and having to pay a premium for it.
>>1509648>Has CIG ever backed down on a price from fan backlash?I think during the Kraken concept sale they added option because people were screeching they couldn't buy it wholesale and wanted to melt stuff to get it.
>>1509648they tried to sell citcon online tickets one year and people loudly told them to go fuck themselves and then reversed it.that where the yearly goody bags came from, the "ticket" came with some swag so the backed off the stream ticket thing and just sold the swag bag, which desu Im fine with. I buy them sometimes if the stuff in it is cool enough, but ususally its not.
>>1509648They're not going to back down on this. CiG is one of the most out of touch developers there is.
despite all your wailing $65 is a reasonable price for the intrepid, IMO.I'm not gonna buy one cus I dont need its role and think its fugly. However It has decent amenities. This "outrage" is a classic case of number obsessed autists missing the point entirely and just screeching about numbers.Avenger titan Is $60. by the number the Intrepid is worse for $5 more, but it has a vastly better interior, multiple access points, More internal volume by a large margin, Vtols meaning it will fly better in atmo and with heavy cargo once thats a thing. its components are more spread out so it will likely be harder to kill.Youre comparing a larger, newer, non-combat focused ship to the definitive OG budget bang-for-buck no frills cargo fighter. Obviously the el cheapo multirole cargo fighter is more cost effective but thats not what the intrepid is selling. Where's the suit locker, armory and shower on the avenger? it doesnt have them. The Intrepid is a less powerful but more complete ship and its specifically intended to to an entry level ship for industrial players who will be doing FPS mining, trading and gathering. Its a shuttle for caves, bunkers and outposts that can defend itself but is not intended to be an aggressor in combat ever, vs the avenger which is an old timey interceptor turned police vessel turned frontier militia fighter.
>>1509648>>1509666This. And you've got plenty of Roberts cock suckers drowning out the dissent on reddit like >>1509672 and >>1509587
>>1509672Armory is meaningless on any ship that can take a 1scu box. Suit lockers don't work. The intrepid is worse in every metric to a cheaper ship. It's also larger and can't carry a bike so it's worse at bunkers than an avenger.
>>1509675again you are literally an upscale ship with fancy features to the universally agreed best value ship in the game and complaining that its not as good a value.
>>1509648Oh wait, the sale is warbond only? No discount at all for this piece of shit. Well that makes keeping my Cutter an easier decision. Fuck I really wanted to upgrade to it. At least now I can hold off knowing I can upgrade any time if I want to pay 15$ to get fucked in the ass.
>>1509681>upscaleIn what way?
>>1509681Stop, it's not even Avenger price, it's more. I can pay 20$ less and get a cutter that can hold size 8 SCU boxes and vehicles, and has more firepower and all the same amenities. Oh no, I don't get a coffee machine that will never work for the next decade.
>>1509684Its crusader, crusader is a "Fancy" ship manufacturer dude. All crusader ships are loaded with overly intricate stuff and meme systems.Aegis by comparison and IN PARTICULAR the avenger is an absolute budget option with no frills.Crusader sells frills, and they come at a premium. Just like origin ships are more expensive cus youre paying for huge windows, agility and wood panelling with crusader you are paying for additional amenities. Like the fact the cargo is accessible inside or outside the ship via a pair of cargo airlocks. or the fact its a single seat ship but has to option of being a two man ship with a dedicated flight engineer to manage power and repair systems on the go. these thing are not easily put into a stats graph but they are features that contribute to the value of the ship. >>1509675armoy is faster easier access without having to fuck around with a box inventory. suit locker allows you to store an entirely kitted out second suit and swap to it with one button. they are no equivalent and this is exactly the sort of thing I mean when I talk about it being a slightly upscale feature rich ship. Its STATS are weaker, absolutely, but its functionality is better, because it is not a combat ship, it is a generic non-combat professional starter, designed to support gathering trading and POI excursions rather than fight other ships. Its answer to space combat is gonna be to run 90% of the time and the engineering station with a second crew will help you do that.I dont know its speed but crusader being crusader i'd assume its pretty fast as well.
>>1509689>cutter has more firepower.obejectively false particularly considering the upcoming changes to weapon sizes and armor. the S4 gun on the intrepid will be able to hurt thing that will literally be immune to S2swhy are you so asshurt about this by SC standards its a cheap ship with a lot of features.
CIG were sick of the pay to win accusations, so they made a pay to lose ship instead.
>>1509700there are quite a few pay to lose ships in sc, this is just one more.
>>1509694What are you talking about? You're just spouting buzz words. No one is going to pay for an intrepid over an avenger and you claiming there's an RP tax and it's good is retarded. Are you a grown man? Why are you acting like this?
>>1509695Right now at this moment, which has more firepower? Not in the future, not in your head canon game fantasy for next year but right now which has more firepower?

>>1509713>Am I the only one who doesn't give a fuck about ships?Ships are fun to explore, but I want more things to do overall.People who are mad at the Intrepid are kinda retarded because, even though things like hygiene aren't incorporated into the gameplay yet, that's still going to be a major benefit over something like an Aurora.
>>1509713There's a ton of cool scifi concept planets in the lore I hope actually get developed one day>Delamar sized ship graveyard welded into a pirate planetoid>Tidally locked planet with a thin strip of city all the way around the border between endless frozen night and boiling perma day>Interstellar wave planet but it's a tourism hub>Dead tevarin homeworlds with entire ghost cities
>>1509725>get's BTFO and loses every argument>why you madlmao
>>1509725Why would I give a shit about anything BUT starters? I know most people here are mentally unstable, rich, or both, but most people aren't actually whales. Everything else I can buy in game, but you need a starter, and no starter is so good that there's much of a reason to buy it in game if you already have another. So picking a starter is literally the most important purchase for most players. I actually really like the Intrepid and wanted one, but the price ask is so outrageous I feel like I'm being robbed. I am indeed upset about that and no longer considering paying to side grade my cutter.
>>1509738>Why would I give a shit about anything BUT starters?I'm confused why you think a starter would be anything other than a starter. We never heard this kind of bitching with the Syulen. >So picking a starter is literally the most important purchase for most players. You can buy the base game for 40 USD and get a mustang. Which is perfectly fine for most beginner tasks. If you want a starter with combat capability, cargo space, living quarters etc you need to pay extra. This is how it has always worked.
>>1509747>We never heard this kind of bitching with the Syulen. It's almost as if the Syulen actually has a lot a firepower, AND a large interior. It's cargo set up blows though so I never got it.>If you want a starter with combat capability, cargo space, living quarters etc you need to pay extra. This is how it has always worked.Yeah no shit, but I nice interior isn't worth as much as CIG wants to charge for most people, I don't know how that's hard to understand. The Cutter has way more amenities and interior than a Pisces yet cost the exact same, so clearly CIG also agreed when they priced those.
>>1509760You literally have the most cost-effective starter in the game and you're mad that the Cutter isn't being powercrept by the Intrepid. >I don't know how that's hard to understand. Not all starters are made equal. To someone like you, the Intrepid isn't going to mean much. But for someone with a starter Aurora or a mustang, the Intrepid is going to be a direct upgrade if they care about cargo hauling and exploration.Something you've also forgotten is that the cutter is a shitbox create from repurposed Pyro industrial equipment. It's not going to be the GOAT forever.

>>1510350apparently completely meaningless
Star Citizen should add some level 0 tier ships, like ships that only enemies use that are complete dogshit. Like a snub fighter with no shields and a single size 1, but make it handles like an aurora. They could be used to really mix up the contracts as you could have some low level stuff where you still have to fight a swarm and it would feel good to be able to shoot down a bunch of trash ships, even with a starter. It would also address how much harder bounties are when your new still figuring out the controls, you could fight something with a very low threat level.
>>1510389Not necessarily. There's the whole thing where you get melted by solar flares in Pyro, so you might start avoid taking damage in the cockpit if you use the armor which saves you lots of money on lubricants and lotions. Also, if you're going to cut it off, you're basically just losing all feeling on your sensors.
>>1510423The solar flare effect was removed from 4.0 in the list of things that have been cut out of it to make way for server meshing. So even in 4.0 it's useless.

>>1510695>what is the square-cube lawdo not reply to me you smooth-brained ape
>>1510686I've got a couple. The Mobi Glas's Map app occasionally prevents you from setting a route. To fix this, qt to any random point and immediately cancel it. Another issue is that occasionally when you go to repair/refuel, attempting to pay for the services does not register your input, and the solution is just to switch apps/close and reopen the Mobi till it does.Biggest one this patch is phase 3 of the "Save Stanton" mission won't properly spawn most of the time, so people just continuously server hop until they find one that has it working. CIG says they are working on a hotfix for this right now, so we'll see.

>>1510629Argo, unless I'm blanking on something. Eventually I'd like to see every manufacturer have both an Aurora-tier basic starter and an Avenger-tier "advanced starter," CNOU and Origin already have that but I'm not sure anybody else does. Gets a bit awkward with things like the Cutter that sit between the two categories as well but those companies could be at the higher end of the starter scale I guess. (Like the Nomad, and with Drake in particular I've always thought that bringing back the general idea of the original Cutlass would be cool, a smaller and more combat-oriented ship with maybe 16SCU.)
>>1510687>>1510719>Anvil will probably keep C8 as starter>Argo will probably be some shitty mini-hauler with no guns and less usable hold cargo than a titan, if they even get a starterDamn, that means that this will probably be the last time we get an LTI starter package that's got an actual starter ship in it and not some multicrew connie equivalent for over $100. Unless they start bringing back old LTI starter packages as they do gold passes on them.I'll have to ask some friends if they're interested in me gifting them one so they have an LTI game package they can either keep or upgrade off if SC ever actually releases, I'd prefer if it was cheaper so if they don't like the Intrepid it could be upgraded into another starter instead of only having the more expensive ships as options.>325A and Titan renegade are $10 more than the intrepid and the Nomad is $15I guess those're options.
>>1510794If I had to guess, an Argo starter wouldn't have a cargo hold at all, probably would be external carry like the MPUV and RAFT. I could see some appeal in a cheap single 32SCU ship though.
>>1510794I could see them doing more small ships. The other guy was right about CNOU and Origin inexplicably having two tiers of starters, and now that NPC crews are delayed indefinitely there's not much progression for casual solo players.
>>1510801>less usable hold cargo than a titanMeant less usable cargo hold. And an external carry for a single 32scu box would be exactly that, no way to carry vehicles or boxes unless the 32 crate is an actual hollow container you can put smaller containers inside of. Seems like it would be another npc ship, something that only exists so it can send out a distress call for players to come save it from npc pirates.I could see something like that from Drake, a smuggling ship that carries a single external possibly shielded 32scu container of illicit goods that could be detached from the cockpit as a blockade runner type ship, but not as a starter, and an Argo one probably wouldn't have qt, since they have the raft for carrying three 32scu boxes and the smaller Argo cargo craft are all for transporting something from ground/station to a ship that can't land/dock and lack qt.
>Intrepid gun is gimballed size 4Doesn't that mean it's actually a size 5 mount? Or is it some kind of bespoke gimbal?
>>1510991No it doesn't work like this anymore. Gimbals don't effect size. Every mount has a size and some are gimbaled. That's it.
>>1510820Maybe, holding off and waiting in hopes they release cheaper bare-bones starters is an option.I showed one of my friends the Intrepid and he actually really liked it with the offset cockpit and interior, he checked and apparently he already has an account with a 3month aurora mr package that I guess he bought cus I was talking about the game years ago. That's probably like $45-50, so if I gift him the intrepid starter package, he can melt that old one down and he'll have a chunk of store credit to upgrade if he ever changes his mind and decides he wants to go up to something else, or if the game is approaching actually releasing and he still has it he can nab something like a mirai pulse or a light fighter so he'll have one with lifetime warranty even if it doesn't have lti.If I gift someone a package, they can still upgrade it, melt it down, and rebuy it as if it was bought directly by them right?
>>1511027There are some restrictions on gifted packages. But I'm not entirely sure what they are. Best to check reddit.
>>1511027they can do everything with it as if they bought it themselves except gift it again
>>1510706The first phase of the event is also annoyingly random. The first time I did it I succeeded since it was a Hull-C getting attacked by terrapins and light fighters. Every other time it's been a Hull-A attacked by Retaliators or F-8Cs and I've failed in ten seconds.
>>1510801I could see Argo getting a micro-RAFT that's just a tractor cab with 2 S1s and an external grid that holds 12 to 16 SCU.
>>1510977I can see some justification for a small Argo WITH QT, since it could fit into other ships while being more than a basic snub. Actually a super-MPUV with QT could be really nice to have as a Polaris owner if it kept the option of a passenger module, there isn't really anything that fits in the hangar and can carry a decent amount of people or cargo for resupply.
>>1511175Could be something like that, yeah, I was picturing more of an Avenger-priced ship that'd have a basic interior for one person and could carry a single 16 or 32 SCU external crate.
>>1511189I actually use avenger titan as my passenger/cargo ship in the polaris. It fits nicely alongside the F7A in the hanger and can be used as a second fighter in emergencies.\You can also fit a nursa + 2 furies in the cargo without intruding into the cargo grid

It'd have to park in orbit and then wait an hour as a conga line of MPUVs shuttle back and forth, even if you were using the tractor variant.

We were already pretty sure the Guardian wouldn't be at IAE, on the other hand, we've known for ages that it's going to be flyable on release and they would've tested it in PTU like the Intrepid if it were coming this sale, plus MISC's load is already blown for this sale with the Starlancer. My bet is that they'll do some kind of end of year sale on it even if 4.0 doesn't go live before xmas. (Or they push a broken-ass 4.0 to live just so they can sell it.)

I have almost no experience with the modern iteration of the game, but I have a ship and all. Is it feasible (or even still possible) to do so as an inexperienced noob now, or no?
>>1512467You can solo phase 1 and 2 (2 being the easiest) right now, but phase 3 of the event is a big fight with a bunch of ships and an Idris captial ship, so there's no chance you'll ever be able to solo it. The thing with phase 3 right now unfortunately is that it's bugged and does not spawn in, forcing you to constantly swap servers until you find one that works (CIG is working on a fix). >>1512658It's frustrating since their main purpose is "Less DPS for range and ammo" when there's no point to guns with a 5km range when capital ship battles aren't a thing yet.
>>1512873ammo types thoughonce theyre a thing those guns with fire prox fuze to kill fighters, ap darts to kill components on ships fast, he for bombardment of surface targets.them being bespoke means they're directly linked to the ships magazine, you will likely be able to stock that with multple kids of ammo and switch between them from the seat.Swappable guns will not get the ability. they MIGHT some time get duel feed ammo boxes at best
>>1512478Depending on the ship you have you'll want to abuse IAE ship rentals to finish phase 1 as the opponents you fight are heavily randomised. It sucks that the showfloors are only 24 hours right now as the Starlancer Max is ideal for completing the more predictable of the two phase one missions.Basically, Phase one has you either defend a freighter getting attacked against multiple waves, or removing 10 boxes of cargo from a wreck while getting attacked by multiple waves of fighters. Sometimes when you do the Defend you luck out and the freighter is a Hull-C or C2, most of the time it's a Hull-A and dies thirty seconds into the mission. Cargo retrieval is same number of badguys, the issue is the size of the ten boxes. Sometimes it's 2 scu crates and it fits in a Zeus ES or Cutlass Black, other times its 8 SCU crates and you need a constellation or bigger.

>We are raising the price of the Pioneer and removing one of the main reasons people pledged for it.Thought this begs the question: Could you CCU from the Pioneer to an Idris and keep the land parcel?
>>1512864I moved to borderless, but that wasn't the primary issue. The biggest problem ended up being my system's input language fucking up many UI-related things in-game. I had to switch from Japanese to English for it to be functional.
>>1512796I like the boarding action mission, so it's cool for set pieces. Retard that they make you pay more for it in real life, like virtual leather cost more, but them costing more in game is fine.
>>1512995wish there were more of those missions. there's one in a reclaimer and the 890 job, that's all I can think of. actually XT had some starfarer encounters which were cool. there's so many huge ships in this game that people maybe get to see the inside of once a year at IAE. they're built as setpieces with huge maze layouts for pvp boarding encounters that never happen. they should use them as pve sets more often. hell, even set up some NPC ships with two sided pvp missions
>>1512947Nothing is stopping you from going into an outlaw system and avoiding taxes altogether. Besides, it's literally a functioning base all on its own. Even moreso than other capital ships, because you can literally print your own fleet by landing it somewhere with resources.
>A2 is more expensive than a Merchantman, Odyssey or Hull DWuh?
>>1512947The land claim parcel only matters in UEE controlled space. You should be able to keep it so long as it isn't a part of the package itself.
>>1513019A2 is from the year where they decided to push the retardation of ship prices as far as possible to see what they could get away with. I think the same ship sale had the Cutlass Steel which has the single biggest disconnect between real life price and UEC price ingame.
>>1512947>Could you CCU from the Pioneer to an Idris and keep the land parcel? No because you can't CCU to an Idris, and in fact you can't CCU a Pioneer to anything at all since it's more expensive than any CCUable ship. (The Polaris is the most expensive thing you can CCU to, at $750 currently, and even after tomorrow's inevitable price increase it probably won't go over $900, while they've just announced that the Pioneer will go up to $925 in a few days.)
How persistent are the persistent personal hanger? Can I just leave shit out in it and log out without it being lost?
>>1513019>>1513028The Hercs are all kinda crazy, and that goes back to the concept, way before that year where they released the Steel and stuff. The M2 is the most egregious of the bunch imo, the A2 at least fills a unique role in SC, while the M2 is at best a sidegrade from the C2 - it loses about 150 cargo (for no apparent reason too, the bays are identical) and only gains one extra remote turret and an armory - and yet it costs $120 more, coming out to $520, which makes it more expensive than a Hull-C and only $15 less than the vastly more capable Ironclad Assault. (Admittedly that'll go up to probably $575 or something when it's flyable.)
>>1513086I'll test it with some boxes and let you know.
How is the Corsair nowadays? I know they gave 2x s5 for copilot but is the firepower still good?
>>1513086Alright, yep. Leaving objects like SCU crates in your hangar stay even after logging out. I assume it's the same for other objects like furniture too.>>1513101Flies like a helicopter, needs more than one person to use effectively. Will probably be better once exploration is in.
>>1513101garbage. Might as well use the connie
>>1512796I mean, with it no longer being susceptible to just being torpedoed out of existence, what you can do with it is go to dangerous places without fear of getting nuked. The luxury gameplay is kinda secondary to just being able to go wherever you want as long as there's no active quantum dampener keeping you in place or a capital ship you can't outrun.
>>1513101Yes, don't listen to the assmad faggots, it's like 10% worse then the connie, and 10% better than the Starlancer, which people claimed it was nerfed because of. And that's assuming your soloing them.

>>1513397It's kind of interesting how they're down like 30% for IAE this year. Part of me thinks people are wising up and they overestimated people being chumps for the Intrepid. Another part of me wonders if people were holding back money for the Guardian and Fortune and just decided not to pledge when they weren't available.
>>1513409might also be that they're holding back for tomorrow and then Anvil day as well, most of this IAE's big new flyables and the main concept are on those days.
Is there a single ship in the game with a forward facing ramp besides the Hercules and the Valkyrie? The Freelancer was supposed to have stairs up the front landing gear in the concept but then they eliminated it.Feels a bit weird to me since "coming down a ramp below the cockpit" is such an iconic image of exploring an alien planet, but every size 3 or 4 ship is stuck with rear ramps or cargo elevators.
>>1513416The Valkyrie doesn't have a forward facing ramp, but the Carrack does, if that's the ship you meant to say. Others like the MM and Ironclad also have forwarded facing ramps, but that's about it.
Sometimes you jump in game and you're so used to seeing stupid sci-fi bullshit you don't question it. But if you're making floating platforms in a gas giant, why the fuck would you build skyscrapers on these platforms? Just make the platform wider and everyone can have beautiful sky views from their ceiling and floor windows.
>>1513429How else would they lord over the plebs? What could possibly be the advantage of concentrating large numbers of people in one place that can easily be traversed via elevator? Why wouldn't they just want to spend the money and resources to create dozens of new platforms for residential housing, thus increasing the commute of those at the edges? The same reasons towers are made IRL, baka.
>>1513429Presumably because the effort to expand/build platforms is immensely greater than what would be required to build a simple skyscraper.A better question is: why the fuck would anybody build a city on a gas giant in the first place.
>>1513429Same reason as in real life. If you build tall, it's a shorter distance for everyone in the building to access the same service.Let's say there 1x McDonald's in center of a residential area. Those at very edge need to take much longer trip to be customers. With a skyscraper, customers are all highly concentrated. Now yes, habitation can be concentrated in other ways, such as it being a tube shaped residential district encasing a commercial district running through the tube, but that kind of 3d architecture probably works better in space.
>>1513438>thus increasing the commute of those at the edges? You can go from Green Circle Hotel to an entirely different planet in about 10 minutes.
>>1513467And yet I still see casuals casuals secondaries constantly bitch about how they desperately need to spawn in their hangar or at an LEO.
>>1513438Elevators in SC don't just operate vertically. I can get from the spaceport to the hangar nearly 3km in a few seconds and the hangar is on a different platform.
>>1513467Yeah, partially thanks to the fact that they built it as a tower rather than spawning you 3 floating pads and 4 train stations away from the spaceport. You think everyone has a ship? They're plebs. They don't even have cars, that's why there's public transportation on every planet. Your suggestion would only increase the number of necessary public transportation lines with the only advantage offered being an improvement in aesthetics from their pods.Owning a ship puts even the poorest Mustang/Aurora owner in the top 1%. Fast food in-game can be comparable to (or even lower than) real-life fast food prices. If we use that to determine purchasing power, we can make rough comparisons in the worth of money.Meanwhile, even the cheapest QT-capable ships are in the upper hundreds of thousands. That is the price of 2 or 3 ferraris. A mid-sized starter package like a Cutlass Black being around 2m in-game is equivalent to a "cheaper" mid-sized yacht.Pic related is why capitalboomers need NPCs so much.>>1513473I want my primary residence on a station not because of the commute but because the cities are unoptimized fucking shitholes intent on trying to burn my house down via my CPU.The random plebs are not ship-owners. Every second they spend in public transportation is a second they're not working for the corp.>>1513474That's because the station and city elevators are fucking magic and are just a fancy pseudo-loading screen to teleport you place to place.3km in a few seconds being 1km/s makes it just under mach 3. You think that's supposed to be realistic or canon? That's as fast as a fucking nav mode ship. It's just handwaved for the sake of gameplay.
>>1513475>It's just handwaved for the sake of gameplay.Yeah, its a game dipshit, so give me a platform with a residential house and a white picket fence and get off my red hole about your commute length bullshit.
>>1513480Wait 6 years for building and make it yourself, fag.Why bother calling it "stupid sci-fi bullshit" if you're gonna go mask-off 8 thread posts later after being told exactly why it makes perfect sense. You vill live in ze pod.You vill drink ze BasedLux and Pips A20
>>1513429Small minded. You should be complaining about the lack of upside down skyscrapers.
>>1513474They also fly through the air and go through walls. I don't think the way they operate in game is supposed to be accurate to in universe lore. Which actually annoys me considering how autistic this game normal is about shit like that.
Any recommended guide videos or tips for dogfights and/or general flight? I saw a bit of a video on YT and practiced in Arena Commander which sort of helped, but when I tried the intro bounty hunting mission, it took substantially longer and way more hits for my enemies to die for some reason.
Thoughts on C1 vs Zeus CL?The Zeus seems objectively better but the C1 looks so much nicer. I'm also considering a RAFT.
>>1513601First off, what ship are you using and what weapon loadout are you running on it (ballistic or laser repeater/cannons)? TTK has definitely gone up over the past couple of patches, but not to the point where it should be taking a long time for just the intro mission. For guides, I've got a couple of short form and straight to the point vids>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayEBxAQVQNs >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M25_x1tVrmU And I also recommend watching this game settings guide from the same guy, it has plenty of small changes that will help with flying and fighting in general: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7lau0HDeN4>>1513611The downside to the CL is that a full load of cargo will physically block you from interacting with its components, and that could be a much bigger deal in the future than it is now (and I personally don't like how awkward it is to manually load over the C1). I also don't really consider DPS capabilities a dealbreaker for single-seater haulers, that's up to you. RAFT I would consider as a solid solo hauler, because of its external cargo grid for easy loading, but the lack of a ship tractor beam, which the other 2 ships have, could be a problem as handheld beams get nerfed (the RAFT is supposed to have one, so we will have to see).
>>1513611The Zeus is better I think. Bigger cargo bay which has problems but with auto loading most of that disappears. The cockpit is significantly better than the C1. You still have 2 MFD's but your view is hugely better. C1 probably has a better flight profile but Zeus holds double the cargo without issues. Multiple points to enter and exit the ship too. DPS for the pilot is slightly less on the Zeus than the C1 but you're probably not fighting in either. Obviously with another character or an AI blade the Zeus hits harder. After owning both I would say the Zeus is the upgraded and feature full version of the C1. The cargo bay is janky granted, but so is the C1's and it holds double the amount.
What are the best PvP weapons in current patch? I tested out a lot of stuff on "destroy monitor" missions using a sabre during the free fly event to include:s3 ballistics: Broadswords/Tarantulass3 Magnetics: Sledge III'ss3 Lasers: Panthers/LightStrike III'ss2 Missiles: Dominator II's/Rattler II'sHonestly out of that list, the panthers seemed like the most reasonable overall weapon for getting hits and TTK and maybe tarantulas if going for stealth. I need to find deadbolt III's to try and will probably test mantis', though I remember gatlings having extremely low ammo in past patches. Also have scatterguns next on the list to try out and will probably go for ballistic over energy. For nimble adversaries, the sledges are a joke now with charge up time, and everything else seemed extremely slow TTK. Rattlers seem good for stealth play ambushes. Gonna have to do some more salvage to fill out the armory. Also where can I find the larger small arms in game? What's the most reliable way to get railguns/missiles/grenade launchers, etc? Bout to start dropping the comm array near tressler and go whaling. Finally, are system components worth changing for pvp right now?
>>1513628Thanks for the resources. I'll be watching them after I send this reply.>First off, what ship are you using and what weapon loadout are you running on itI'm running a stock Avenger Titan, which (afaik) has a combo of ballistic+laser and a few missiles:https://starcitizen.tools/Avenger_Titan#tabber-tabpanel-Weapons_&_Utility-2I've been trying to make sure I get within about 500m for optimal damage, but regardless if I do or not, it took me several minutes per target to knock them out, even with shreds of hits. >>1513734It's brazen. The ship isn't even fucking finished.
>>1513724I suggest replacing the nose S4 ballistic Gatling with an Omnisky laser weapon. Because that will result in a full laser loadout, you'll want to optimize your ship's power distribution and maximize it for weapons so that your guns have a larger capacitor and a faster recharge rate. Turn off life support (it doesn't do anything right now) and just allocate only 1 power block to your coolers (laser guns won't overheat for now), then devote all of that reserve power to weapons and shields. You should have an easier time with chaining one bounty after the other, since you won't need to restock ammo. Give this a try and let us know how it goes.>>1513751Kinda like the blue teebeeH

>>1513755>Give this a try and let us know how it goes.Watched all the videos, made most of the related changes from his notes and equipped the Omnisky on my nose. Feels exceptionally better! My aim feels a little shaky when leading shots (maybe because I always use a high sens and DPI on my mouse), but I think I got to Wave 22 in the swarm mode within Arena Commander and maybe 14 kills or so. Not sure what settings I should adjust to make just the firing/flight aim a tad tighter, but it's nice, especially not needing to think about reloading.>Turn off life support (it doesn't do anything right now) and just allocate only 1 power block to your coolersI'm not entirely sure on how to do this. Where should I look? I did allocate power to guns when making shots, before setting to default during every interval in case I'd get shot at. I'm not sure if that was wise or counter-intuitive.>so that your guns have a larger capacitor and a faster recharge rate.Is there somewhere I should be watching to know what my weapon recharge status is? >>1513751Of course a fat phase phaggot would be a star shitizen whale.
>>1513786I'll check out the stealth vid. From what I understand going ballistics and dropping half your ship components in something like the sabre lowers your IR and EM signatures pretty low and you can fuck off and lose target-locks on you at around 2-3KM. In regards to weapons; at this point I think I'm gonna just get every s3 weapon and test it with the sabre and see what seems to do the best. I suspect laser cannons could be god tier but their capacitor is too shit. I've also noticed that on things like the vanguard warden that convergence has changed significantly between the S5 mount and the 4xs2 fixed guns when using the same type of weapon (maybe upgrading to the guardian will be worthwhile for supposed 2xs5). I miss the old days when you could just slap 3 s3 omnisky's on an arrow and kill most things in 1-2 volleys. I also probably need to log some hours in AC and see what current big d load outs are swinging there.Anyways, once I test scatterguns and deadbolts, I will choose a loadout and go gankin. >inb4 dr_sperglord carebear tard starts aggroing
>>1513429I was just thinking how unimaginative big parts of the design of this game world are, there's not a lot of crazy future ideas happening here, it's all 'what if we took big city and covered a whole planet with it lol' and "bespin cloud city and it's still just a conventional city that doesn't really do anything novel or interesting with it's unique situation, it's just sky venice"there are some neat ideas in the lore (>>1509734) and I hope they don't get homogenized out of existence. >>1513546this desu, and the place should be layered more, give me hanging stalactite complexes looking down over more dense floating cityscape. maybe there's some lore that it's all precariously balanced on a denser layer of atmo like real clouds, but the game is so rule of cool already idk why that should matter

>>1513601Switch from Lead Pips to Lag Pips. Replace any CF- class repeaters with Attritions or NDBs. Upgrade to a Competition reactor and dump the extra power bars into weapons to increase ammo.
>>1513816>I'm not entirely sure on how to do this. Where should I look? The power management MFD (the touch screens with the horizontal scroll bar in pic related) is where you manage power distribution on your ship. You just hold F and click the blocks to add or remove power away from components, and the output will show how many power segments you have to spend/the total amount the powerplant can supply. >I did allocate power to guns when making shots, before setting to default during every interval in case I'd get shot at. I'm not sure if that was wise or counter-intuitive.You have the right idea with changing power to different components on the fly depending on the situation, but for right now you should have full power in both shields and weapons, since you can spare the power due to the other components not needing them until more mechanics get added.>Is there somewhere I should be watching to know what my weapon recharge status is? I wasn't sure, so I did it by intuition/timing.The HUD right now is pretty shit for info, but your ammo count should be reflected on the top right of your screen, under the ship silhouette (pic related).
>>1513854Not that guy but why Attritions or NBD's? Also, does a larger reactor increase your EM signature?
>>1513857>top right of your screentop left*
>>1513724go with pic related for PvP and replace NDB-30s with attritions for PvE>why NDBsYou want NDBs for PvP because of the higher projectile speed giving you a better engagement distance. This is important since you are flying an interceptor that can outspeed most fighters and want to use boom and zoom tactics>why attritionsyou want attritions in PvE due to pure DPS.NPCs can't aim so you can dodge all their shots by staying outside of 1km and corkscrewing>why civilian shieldsrequires the least amount of power blocks and has a decent amount of component HP to prevent your component being sniped by ballistics like competition shields. Being able to fully power your shields gives you 50% laser resistance to shield damage
>>1513860The main issue with CF- repeaters is they sacrifice damage for rate of fire and projectile velocity, and have the same ammo capacity as other repeaters. So Panthers will do 546 dps for 7 seconds with a 5.25 second reload, while Attrition-3s will do 786 dps for 13 seconds with a 5.75 second reload. 50% more dps for twice as long. The Panther shots are 1.8 times faster but that doesn't matter in PvE when you're more likely to miss due to target teleporting from low server fps.

>>1514229>among gamedevand you would know this why? what games have you worked on anon
Weird thing I noticed is that for some reason the Sabre comes with default military coolers instead of stealth coolers despite stealth coolers being perfectly capable of handling its heat.Because of that the low emmissions and cs of the default loadout are pointless due to 11k IR. Swapping to snowblinds drops it to 2.7k IR.Is it an intentional nerf to prevent stealth gameplay for rented ships or what?
>>1514604Default loadouts and current component balance won't always align every patch something changes, and will remain that way for a good long while as they continue balancing more and more. It should also be a given that they don't want default loadouts on ships to always be the best.

Hello anons, I started playing last week and I'm looking for an enjoyable 1-2 player ship to CCU towards over the next 1-2 weeks. While nothing in particular gameplay loop wise has caught my attention with the starter invictus, I don't hate anything. Would some anons be willing to point me in the direction of some ships that fit that criteria that I should check out? Budget isn't a particular issue, just interested in ships that anons would recommend even if it's for personal reasons that aren't performance related.
>>1514699If you're not enjoying your starter, buying more ships is the dragon chasing that got us in this bloated mess.Pro tip, go around doing bunkers. Every time you find a ship parked at one, shoot a door until it opens and steal it. Free fun, and it'll last you until you log off.
>>1514699There are currently 3 popular suggestions in that category, I'll quickly go over. >Drake Cutlass Black: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=samiA5ibRj8This one is my faviroute to suggest, whether you want to do solo combat, multicrew combat with its manned top turret, cargo haul, or use that cargo space to carry around a small vehicle (like the ROC for mining). >Crusader C1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ymgV-xp5twThis ship leans more into cargo hauling with a slightly larger capacity than the Cutlass, but the only thing a copilot can contribute is remote controlling the rear tractor beam for manual loading (the C1 and Zeus Mk II also have one).>Zeus Mk II: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlz0n035fuU & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0dOl1cbZ7EThe Zeus Mk II is a relatively new ship, with both a cargo and exploration variant. The cargo variant comes with the most capacity out of all the others listed here, while the exploration variant has the most fuel capacity. For DPS, they both come with pilot controlled duel cannons and a remote turret on the bottom.
>>1514714>rear tractor beam for manual loading (the C1 and Zeus Mk II also have one).(the C1 and Zeus Mk II also have one)The Cutlass & Zeus CL*
>>1514713I don't dislike the invictus, I just feel it's not the particular right thing for me but I haven't played enough as of now to figure out what's right for me hence why I'm waiting on upgrading and instead just looking to probe out on where to lean to find that right ship.>>1514714The Zeus CL seems nice since it appears to be pretty flexible with a lean into cargo transportation for those brain off kinda days, I'm going to mess around with cargo a little more and if it's not getting those neurons firing I'll check out the cutlass black since it gives you more active options while still giving you that flexibility of a vehicle bay. thank you for the write-up anon.
>>1514596He doesn't, taking to account that game Dev circles are a little different depending on location - game development critique is something talked about in personal chats and not everyone is interested in them. Even more universal things like glass door reviews are only frequented by salty people who have had the type of experiences that warrant it. For the most part game Dev's are (by a large part by cultivation) quite conflict averse and prefer not to talk too much about the failings of other game developers - even if they should. In fact if you look at disasters like Concord and Forspoken, Dragon age, assassins creed - it's clear that there are a lot of fucking developers (majority) who are risk and conflict averse and will just do what they are told or fold under social pressure as extroverted mentally ill people extort and rave about their sick agenda. Now if you imagine people stay quiet about literal insane asylum stuff - they won't care too much about the company being greedy in monetization or if the management is mismanaging or overspending. There will be opinions but they won't act upon them - in many cases the ones who complain are among the first to be fired or to leave. It's only when a key employee starts whining that the company actually needs to do something. And most of the key employees are in cushy pay and good bonuses so they are less likely to worry about stuff. If some juniors or community managers cry to media about their unfair crunch or lack of agency or any other bullshit - nobody cares, you shouldnt either, it's constant normal in game dev
>>1514699Corsair used to be the best ship in the game, now it's Connie Taurus and soon it will be Connie Phoenix.Corsair is still pretty decent but it's mostly aesthetics, Connie due to being old piece of shit is essentially just a tube so very accessible and overall good. But they are pretty expensive so what I recommend is using your existing ship to make enough credits to buy Connie in game and not worry about pledging.Cutlass black is decent ship if you must get something, avenger titan is the best starter. Those are pretty much your options desu. But seriously consider not pledging a ship, you really don't need one and for MC gameplay any one or the existing players will gladly take you on their crew.
>>1507927when do you think ai blade will actually come out
>>15147461.0So by my estimate; 2027
>>1514747And to add to thatThis is only IF they dont change all remote turrets to PDC's, which they probably will. In that case - never.
>>1514746When they figure out the kinks when it comes to hostility. A reoccurring problem that's highlighted every big PvE battle, is how often and easy it is to be hostile to other player ships around the area, and since AI can't differentiate accidental target locking from intentional, a turret controlled by AI will just start blasting friendlies (we even have this exact scenario playing out this event with the PDS on the Polaris). Unless they can sort out those hostility edge cases, we won't have blades.
>>1514715The C1 actually has a rear tractor beam that can go to the top of the ship as well.
>>1514750it shot my vehicle after getting off the ramp.
>>1514647>he is so new he doesn't get gamer gate references and trust game journalists Lol, lmao even
>>1514804They made this change in the most recent 4.0 PTU patch for the PDS>PDCs will now defend the ship from anything that attacks it. This means they won't attack anything that doesn't attack them first (other than incoming missiles/torpedoes). It means they will attack anyone that shoots it above friendly fire threshold, including police and even the ships owner or party members. >They have no allegiance to anyone but the ship.I see this as more of a temporary change, but one that does sort of fix the issue of the PDC just attacking anyone who is hostile because they targeted a Polaris in missile mode by accident.
Here's a thought. Medical ships as boarding craft. You bring a box with equipment aboard. Crew on mothership commits suicide to teleport to the pisces one by one and pick up gear to proceed attack. All you are risking is the pilot on initial pass and he can have medbed on mothership in event the boarding craft blows up. He respawns at mothership and takes a fresh medical pisces and tries again after boarding crew rebinds to the med ship.

Load the ursa up in the connie and set your spawn point to the ursa>Option cIdris, carrack, 600i explorer, reclaimer, torpedo fighters, heavy fighters, medium fighters, light fighters, random shitYou will inevitably end up here.
>>1514699I think the cutlass is one of the most dogshit looking spacecraft ever in any medium. It's awful looking. The cockpit is 3x bigger than it should be. It's huge inside when it looks like it should be like a space Hind but in reality it's like some fucking weird garbage monstrosity because CiG designers are absolute morons and John Crewe is a dumb fetal alchohol syndrome twat. But probably a cutlass is what you want. Personally I wouldn't get anything more than an Avenger because you can buy a cutlass pretty cheap in game after some merc missions or bounties in your avenger.
>>1514649No, the Gladius green is more of a military olive green, this is more like a sage green I guess, the kinda color that was popular for kitchen cabinets in recent years. (Funny enough I just refinished my parents' kitchen island top in that color for them early this year and I had to paint it twice because the first color looked too gray under certain light, just like this Polaris skin does.)
if you do not possess full lifetime furnishing of a $1000 internet space ship lower your tone when speaking with me
>>1514915It's even worse because the original Cutlass was much more reasonably sized. I've wanted them to bring that concept back for years, obviously they couldn't just port the old asset but they could make a new Drake ship based on the old Cutty template, a smallish combat-focused multirole with a bit of cargo, and either make it a Nomad competitor or go upmarket and make it kind of a Zeus alternative for people who are more into shooting than hauling but still want that bit of flexibility for pirating or doing missions where you have to recover cargo after killing ships or whatever.
>>1514699Starters are good for new players. They are quick, easy to get out of, and most allow you to carry a small amount of cargo. These include>Cutter>Avenger TitanCutter has more cargo oriented, Avenger is more combat-capable. The cutter in particular has enough space to carry a small vehicle too.If you want an all-around fighter, look at the Cutlass. It can carry a significant amount of cargo (for a fighter), is quick, agile, has VTOL for easier in-atmo handling, decent firepower and fits two people.I cannot recommend anything beyond that unless you have more friends to play with. Shit like the Polaris, Corsair etc need multiple people to fly them.
>>1514982He does say "1-2 players" so something like the Cutlass is probably the only real option.
>>1514750>>1514748I haven't played 4.0 or used PSD yet, PDS shoots at enemy ships? can you mount it on every turret on the ship and use it like an AI blade?
>>1515010>PDS shoots at enemy ships?Yes.>can you mount it on every turret on the ship and use it like an AI blade? They are fully automated and bespoke to certain ships (Polaris, Constellation Phoenix, 890J, and Idris), have their own hardpoint mount on the hull of the ship it sits on separate to remote/manned turrets, and you can't move them.
>>1514068Did anyone learn anything from Freelancer? Because it's been twenty years and nothing comes close to that experience. Everspace 2 sucks.
>>1514998Most multicrew ships can be fully utilized with a single person. There are some ships which have severely diminished functionality without a full crew though.I mentioned the Corsair and Polaris specifically because they are functionally useless without two or more people. Polaris specifically, the strength of the shields and PDCs will carry you through a lot of bullshit, but you need to use a goddamned elevator to fire its main armament.
>>1514982The C1 Spirit is effectively a single player ship where you have to switch seats to use the tractor beam.Cutter is "cargo focused" but still only has 4 SCU to the Avenger's 8.They really need to make a 16 SCU starter priced ship. Too bad they screwed up on the Intrepid.
>>1515070Yeah, what I mean is that, if he wants to duo as well as solo, the Cutty is the best bang for buck ship for that. Anything similarly-priced or cheaper is either solo-only or lacks enough gameplay for a second player, and other ships that do make sense for a duo are a lot more money and often way less versatile.
>>1515109>They really need to make a 16 SCU starter priced ship. Too bad they screwed up on the Intrepid.I was just saying the other day that they should do a "Super MPUV" with room for one 32 crate and a quantum drive. I thought of it as a better supply snub for capitals but you could easily adapt the idea as a cargo starter too, maybe trade half the cargo space for basic living amenities and end up with a 16 capacity ship. (They could make both options as variants too, or maybe even go modular with the living quarters being built into a 16SCU-sized thing that snaps onto the grid and connects to a door in the back of the cab.)

>>1516071Avenger One is a fucking loser retard who rage quits fights and acts like he’s a fighter pilot.
>>1516071there's multiple ways to solve it>lower accelerations overall>higher projectile speeds or hitscan weapons>weapons characteristics scaling with powerplant size>flak>constantly regenning shields>>1516074broken clock etc. He's right about the asymmetry issue of fighters vs large ships though. It's a simple fact that fighters have longer engagement distances right now because of their higher accelerations.
Logged out last night after storing my Intrepid. Logged in had it was wiped, had to deliver it. Checked and even my components went back to default. Then I noticed it's a completely difference color. What the fuck?
>>1516088They gave out limited time skins with intrepid because it wasn't selling too well.
>>1516077He wants an impossible situation where every ship has a role perfectly balanced for arena commander 1v1s, UNLESS HES PILOTING, in which case he should win all the time because he’s that good. Listening to that is retarded. The entire basis of his understanding and opinions are fucking retarded and ass backward. Fighters are superior because they only need one person and that’s pretty much all it is at this point. They’ll never touch on armor and whatnot if they spend all their time tending to the sensitive feelings of retards.

They even forgot that they used to call it Stormbringer. Jesus I hate their colors, 90% of the paints in this game are trash. Just give it some of the C1's, one of the few ships with some decent paints.

>>1516200Yeah no, It's on the issue council, they stole all my components and the paint I paid for to give me the ugliest paint imaginable. Why didn't they just send the paint to my starting planet?
>>1516182He sounds like a shill. Its layout is fucking awful. They make the entire ship assymetrical but then they decide to intentionally split the cargo into two lines for "symmetry" just to waste as much space as possible and prevent you from carrying 4SCU boxes on-grid.And the usual trend of ships being 20% doors by weight. It's like they took a step in the right direction with the Pulse fitting in things and are now desperately backpedaling to counteract it for the sake of some cosmic necessity to fuck over the players. I suspect the intended selling point of the Intrepid was going to be creating artificial game-breaking problems in existing ships with the addition of engineering, then selling the solution with a starter ship that already has its golden pass. They also made it just a bit more expensive than the Titan, to get citcon pack buyers used to CCUing, but not high enough that a warbond CCU would still be higher so they can start a discount chain. But I suppose they realized that if the server meshing snake oil they've been shilling for years doesn't work, then faith in the cult would be irrevocably shaken, so they're trying to focus on that. Honestly, that might be the one good decision they've made. People (me included) give them shit for removing content, but making the game actually fucking work with the shit already here before slapping on more broken, retardedly-implemented, and half-baked crap is even more important.
>>1516203>smugglingIt's not even shielded cargo though.

>>1516264>;3All right, you've tipped your fucking hand. This isn't reddit. You may have tried throwing in some site lingo and an anime gif into your shilling, but I'm not falling for it. If they make it shielded, then that's nice, but until it actually happens, it's nothing but empty hope.If they're gonna charge more than an Avenger for it, they should've just gone full balls to the wall with the assymetry, made it an S5 and combined the cargo into 2x8 instead of two 1x4Their actions just make me think they might actually be retarded enough to alienate literally every new player who just bought the Avenger citcon pack last month by gimping the ship later. All so they can justify newer and newer ships and powercreep shit without ever actually increasing capabilities past a certain amount. (Lest they risk angering the bigger paypigs in a higher oink bracket)t. bought the avenger last month because I decided I'd never buy a package until they made reasonably sized ground transport options (AKA the Pulse)Because back during freeflies I played all they had was 15 foot hoverbikes and airport golf carts while deliberately gimping cargo sizes so you can't have any transport in anything smaller than a cutter (And giving up all your cargo space to do so) while modern SUVs are fitting a half dozen dirt bikes or multiple ATVs in the same space it takes for a useless toilet to satisfy Croberts' autistic scat fetish. Now here they are doing the same shit right now with the Intrepid. Intentionally making problems in function (without an equal increase in form) so that they can sell you a Mk. II solution later.Don't forget they tried to sell this shit with a fucking S3 until people complained.
>>1516283the s3 gun was a gag>start small, dream big
Speaking of asymmetry in the Intrepid, the cargo doors should be mirrored so they both have their window towards the front of the ship. At the cargo hatch furthest from the door you can't even see the whole cargo hold because the window is up against the engine so there's a blind spot. I feel like a big selling point of those little windows is being able to tell if you've got a stowaway before opening the door, but it only works on one door.
>>1516264>military partsbro.... the current meta is competitions parts.....
>>1516077I think the best way to handle "fighter vs multirole" is to give projectiles a separate that affects whether an attack halts shield regen, and shields a separate state that resits the regen decrease. Then make it scale much better with weapon/shield sizes than DPS/hitpoints.So four S3s will do more damage than two S4s against smaller targets, even out or worsen against larger targets because sheild regen doesn't pause.

It's all so unbelievably tiresome.

Questions, the BIS paints are distributed at the end of IAE and if you own the appropriate ships they're tossed in as a separate item correct? and If you buy a BIS ship CCU/Standalone do you obtain a pack with the paint and ship, or is the ship itself pre-painted which means you lose the paint if you CCU out of it or put on a different paint? I know that melting a pack removes everything associated with it so the paint would go as well with the melt. Also, are any of the ships or paints for this years BIS worth a standalone buy/CCU upgrade into, or of any notable quirk to take a closer look at for any reason? From my quick reading they tend to be put on some level of sale so if I did find one I was interested in it'd be best to wait for the discounted price and just deal with losing the paint when melted over getting one early for the standalone paint yeah? I'm sure this question has been asked a hundred times before so thank you for your patience.
>>1517693If you own the ship at the end of IAE, you get the paint added to your account as a separate item. Regardless of whether you upgrade that ship or melt it, you will still have the paint so long as you earned it during IAE.>Also, are any of the ships or paints for this years BIS worth a standalone buy/CCU upgrade into, or of any notable quirk to take a closer look at for any reason? No.The Reclaimer isn't useful if you don't have a crew of dudes willing to act as luggage handlers. The Hurricane is a fighter that everyone will get at the end of SQ42.C1 Spirit is actually good, but it's small enough that you can purchase one in-game with little trouble. And the Terrapin is.. a scout ship in a game with no exploration gameplay loop.
>>1517727I was looking at the Reclaimer since it seemed like a good brain off way to end the night after work and I fucking love the ship design, kinda a low bar when they've basically yoinked a ship from Alien though. What about the F8C? Doesn't do anything worth mentioning that other ships don't already do?
>>1517736The reclaimer is kinda fucked because, as I said, you actually need a team of people to act as luggage handlers. The way reprocessing works is that it prints out the material in the hold, which you then need to toss down a chute into the cargo area. It's literally like working at an airport, except you're tossing freight containers around instead of luggage. Maybe it will get better, maybe not. Who knows. It's not the kind of thing that justifies the pricetag though.>What about the F8C? Sorry, this is what I meant when I typed Hurricane. It's the best fighter in the game. Lots of firepower, very fast etc but you get one at the end of SQ42 for free.If you want to ruin anybody who's flying a connie or larger ship, then the F8C is the go-to. Or an eclipse.
>>1517757Thank you for your input anon, it has been informative.

>>1517757risking pissing everyone off in this thread, why should the reclaimer allow you to control the salvage arm from the pilot seat, and have a mfd that connects you to a tractor beam in the cargo compartment so you can use alone? The CCUs should contain the skins so if you ever buy them ingame you can be pink and purple with them so long as you don't melt the chained ship later (and why should you? If I went insane and melted the 600i, I'd lose the 2951 skins, but I'd keep the 2953 ones because they were added to my account for already owning the ships.

One more semi-related question, Melting a CCU chain will give me back the exact money I put into it but not the actual value of the melted item because it was obtained with discounts and it'll let me buyback the original ship at the start of the chain right? On the other hand, if I buy a specific ship and melt it later because I don't like it, I'll get what I paid back and have the option to buyback that ship for the same price as I sold it for later on, even if the ship itself has experienced a price increase or will I have to pay the new price? There's a lot of moving parts to the premium economy but it all appears to be mostly logical.

I won't be able to rebuy a 600i with just that credit though as I can't buy warbond CCUs with credit. There are more caveats for buying CCUs back if you melt them, but for now, that'll do.

>>1518489>the paladin is a heavy gunboat most aligned with something like a hammerhead in its use gamutMy first thought was "Super-Scorpius" and I've seen a bunch of other people say the same or "Hurricane XL," and I think that kinda sums it up pretty well now that we know it's got pilot guns.

>>1518506i doubt the paladin will be maneuverable enough to render its pilot guns very efficacious whatsoeverthe thing is by all indications an absolute brick

>>1518587I suppose that turret gunners will get access to auto gimbal while the pilot won't. Seems like it's mainly a redeemer replacement though.
>>1518582It's kind of crazy when you think about it. Connie has just as many guns and is cheaper. Why the fuck is the connie so upgunned?

>>1518646They whine a lot because they can't effectively utilize ships that are obviously designed with multi crew gameplay. Just the other day in chat I saw someone crying about how long it takes to unload his reclaimer by himself and how CIG ruined the game with the cargo update.
>>1518610First big ship in the game. Probably designed by CR himself. Now that CR is preoccupied by SQ42 and doesn't give a shit about PU, nerf incomingThough the nerf might take a while, making Connie Phoenix the best (solo) ship in the game easily.
I really, really, really wish friendly fire was a tier 2, and not counted as full blow homicide.>Protect Site contract.>kill guy at front door and a few others in site, go in.>Clear last guys inside, guards did most the work, get the markers for the last enemies.>All the marks are back on the surface, so head back up.>Turn corner and blast first mark.>It was security.
>>1518646They're always fat boomers who like star trek and star wars and want to either be a jedi, a federation captain or some sort of fleet commander. But they have no friends, social skills or capability to do this with other people and demand the game caters to them by making AI's for them to RP with while also demanding to win every engagement and be as good as those who do have friends, org mates and social skills.
>>1518665Difference is, what you see normie retards complain about, or your typical CIG fanbois and ultra whales....they arent here, this is 4chan. Different type of people frequent here and you should know it. I am one of the Kraken owners of /cig/ and I think the cargo update is great - I think that multi crew gameplay should be multiplayer (I also think it should infer a significant boost against everyone flying their own ship..) And I know many if not all the people in these threads are along the same lines. All the "fat whale boomer" shit flung here doesn't stick because of that - nobody cares for the juvenile attempts at trolling since nobody really thinks that way here.
>>1518516It'll be maneuverable for the first month, then they'll nerf it to bring it in line in preparation for the powercreep of the next similar ship they sell.

>>1518718>>1518716>>1518665How should multicrew work compared to other games? I flew some of the big ships during free flight and they are useless without a crew.
>>1518740That's how it should be. No NPC's, no AI turrets. If you want to use a big ship you need to have friends or hire real people to man your guns.

>>1518740It depends, Connie is supposed to be multicrew but you dont need to be to use it to most of its potential. In fact in a lot of ships the turrets are not super important. Or the gameplay balance is all sorts of fucked up. Even Polaris is completely viable with crew of 3 or even 2, your only threat is another polaris and then its a torpedo fight. The same goes around on most ships, you gain very little from any crew members or you need one or two to get what you need. Ships like Hammerhead that gains power linearly the more players you have on turrets is just not played.

>>1518740Ideally I'd love for it to be something like Void Crew, maybe not that complex, but turret gunners doing they're thing, engineer/s running around putting out fires and fixing shit, pilot flying, captain giving out orders and marking targets. Only thing I assume wont be in the engineering patch that I wish was would be a decompression system and the ability to lock and close doors to seal off areas of a ship and vent fires.Completely unrelated but I hate how in all the cutscenes and lore people apparently go into space battles with their military uniform on. It's so retarded that you would fight on a military space ship in a shirt and pants. One of the only not retarded things about Gundam that I love is everyone puts on a space suit when they go into battle.
solo fags are about to get the guardian
>>1518657the z button
>>1518813Personally if its anything like the free fly and i have to wait for friends to hop in my ship to enjoy a polaris then the game just isn't worth the money, on youtube theyve always said you'd get npcs for hire.

so much wasted thread space on retard drama god damn. if anybody needs their phase 4 we've got a shitload of the mats needed in the org that will not be named
>>1518751>>1518758That's because those things have become memes. The sort of memes that just get proven true whenever you take a look at Spectrum>>1518813>decompressionEveryone would just keep their ships vented and wear suits and helmets since there's no point in not doing so.Even after they add that starclothing shit 1 or 2 (more like 2 or 3 at their current fucking rate) years from now, it might not change anything. They should make space-capable gear bulkier, more expensive, and slower than clothing-based equipment like a plate carriers, and less effective than atmospheric combat suits that don't need to waste space/weight for sealants or EVA thrusters. Clothing armor like on Hurston NPCs should be available at every armor shop for a fraction of the price of space suits.Honestly, I think they should just make undersuits their own thing. A super cheap space suit with no protection or bulk, then have sealed spacesuits with some armor, and an array of light to heavy unsealed sets. They need to add more FPS missions to planets to make wearing anything but a spacesuit viable, as well as having more of them available at the same time. The settlement eviction missions are nice, but if the game glitches out and doesn't spawn the enemies, you won't get any for half an hour or more after abandoning. The cave evictions also only have like 9 fucking NPCs in them. It's just fucking running around looking for them.
>>1518868It's a slow board so a single active newfag can ruin an entire thread, especially if people reply to him
>>1518878>he's STILL seethingBoomerbrain.
>every single ship punches above its weightwhat did they mean by this?
>>1518866>If it's a heavy fighter, then F8 is better. It's a Vanguard-equivalent, though it might only be for one person instead of two. It's got an interior with gun racks, suit locker, personal storage, etc. so it'll be useful for more than just dogfighting and most of the components including the quantum drive are S2, which is a big deal in 4.0 because all the S1 ships have pretty shit range.>>1518860NPC talk has been a pretty mixed bag. That SaltEMike video somebody linked didn't include it, but they talked a bunch about NPCs last fall (can't remember if it was Citcon or another video around that time) and the plans don't really sound like they'll work for crewing whole cap ships, they were describing them more like Skyrim/Fallout companions where they're actual characters who'll do FPS combat with you and stuff too. Personally I like the idea of a system like that, it's enough to make semi-soloable ships (Connie-Starlancer) viable without other players post-Engineering etc. and it could multiply a small crew and let 3 or 4 guys crew up a Polaris pretty well but won't turn the whole game into nothing but a capital ship deathmatch where everything is just a stepping stone to throw away after you move to something bigger.
>>1518899Ive always understood NPCs to be like a second tier character, where they cannot be relied upon to do things on their own. Like you will be able to assign them to a turret but they'll just fire at random shit unless you have a gun captain directing them to focus a target. You can assign them as an engineer but they will not fix things intelligently and will need to be tasked and managed by a human chief engineer. They amount to an extra set of hands for your human crewmen to direct.Target that fighter whenever you can get guns on it.Fix the shield generatorRoles that do not require much further decision making from the npc. So like a Human engineer with 2 NPC engineers can fix three parts at once, as long as he takes the time to task his two npcs, if he doesnt they'll just fix whatever is closest or idle. Without the human the NPCs may or may not do anything useful but what they do will not be chosen as rationally or as quickly as a human might. From what Ive read over the years they wont be too much use one something like a Conny unless they are the 3/4 th crewman since having them alone will require the pilot to direct them anyway.Their purpose is to fill out a partial human crew not replace it.You might be able to use them as gunners without too much hassle but even so they will have limitations.
>>1518913Yeah I'd be fine with a system like that too. The problem is that a lot of people seem to want to be able to plop down in the captain's chair on their Polaris or Idris and have NPCs do everything on the whole ship and they'll scream just as loudly about a system where you just infill with simple NPCs, you pretty much never see people saying "I can only get three or four people together and I want to fly ships made for 12," it's always "I don't want to play with other people at all and I demand you make that possible regardless of the ship."
>>1518899Honestly, as long as NPCs can sit in turrets and shoot enemies and are able to run from fuseboxes and components to make repairs, I'm satisfied. The former is already implemented in enemy ships, and the latter can be easily done by any CS intern
>>1518045this
>>1518298I'm mad because thats what the valkyrie should have + cargo and jumpseatsthere is no reason why the valkyrie couldnt have those guns and missiles
For the finale at the end of IAE, all the normal ships that went up for sale will return right? So I don't need to worry about cashing in any CCU chains until then in the scenario that some discounts that fit pop up between then and now?
>>1519084All ships are still on sale, and will be up until the 5th, with new CCU deals every day until then.
>>1519093I was just curious because I've had ships show up for the manufacturer day and then disappear when the next manufacturer popped up, so I wanted to confirm that all those ships will return for the finale. Normal ships, not hull limited ones of course.
>>1519093I thought they usually put up a batch of new CCU deals on the first day of the finale and then left them up until the end?
>>1519156>I thought they usually put up a batch of new CCU deals on the first day of the finale and then left them up until the end? They used to repeat sell all the CCU deals ran during the event for the final few days, but now they've started putting up new ones each day till the end.

>>1518298>>1518961Bros I want a Valkyrie/Legionnaire/Paladin that can pick up or drop off a beefy land vehicle like the Pelican (or clone LAAT dropship) so bad. How that still doesn't exist in a game like this is utterly beyond me. I was so close to CCUing to the Argo Raft before I realized that it could only fit cargo boxes in the back and couldn't suspend a vehicle there like you'd expect from its shape and tractor beams.
>>1519238Take the SRV pill, it's the closets you're gonna get.
>>1519259It's just not the same. It looks and feels like it would be a death trap in anything combat-adjacent, and I can't stand how the tractor beam is on a giant arm that moves upward for no reason.
>>1519218>he is STILL seething about itYou can't stop replying to me and thinking about how I outted you because you are a boomer with schizophrenia.
>>1519238Hercules M2Ironclad Assault
>>1519238you can fit a hoverquad in the back of a cutter. I know what you mean though, it's not the same
>>1519417>>1519479i would agree, Ironclad and M2 are two large to be what anon wanted.
>>1519483Ironclad sure but the M2 is a LAAT just big.an AT-TE is way bigger than a Spartan for example. the whole clamp carry system is not rally practical for SC, but its a vehicle dropshit that also deploys a number of troops and has a bunch of guns Ironclad is more of an tank landing ship than a dropship. if you want a more direct dropship analogue the Valkyrie and Cutlass steel exist. both can carry a short platoon, valk carries vehicle support cutlass steel doesnt but black does.game has a ton of dropships.
Bunker blew up my ship and I had to steal some busted up Starlancer to get home. This is what the guy had in his ship. There's are people that unironically play they this.

>>1519679You don't buy food and ammo in bulk?
>>1519679i was loading an 8scu with 1k basedlux in my starlancer until i kept losing my ship to afk timer and phyisics memes
>>1519680I set 6 beers in my fridge and a burrito or something. I have to go back to town to sell, heal up, restock and repair eventually anything. Throwing 100 cruz luz in a SCU box, on a ship with actual bunks and kitchen storage is some souless min maxing autistic grind set shit.
>>1519604Ironically, the Default ironclad will be able to carry 6 novas, making it better than the assault which from the looks of it can only carry 4. The cutty black can carry an Ursa Medivac (it can carry spawns), which means it's a better dropship than the steel or Valkyrie.
>>1519679it's not uncommon to bring a 1scu along for supplies or for raiding free gear and guns
>>1519686Based, I do the same it's so easy to just grab something when I land. A few bottles and sandwiches lasts for hours.
I really don't care about ship autism, I'm here for planet autism. Still using my starter ship for everything.
This new HUD fucking looks great but it's basically useless. 100% AFT? 100% AFT what? Why is it now showing forward/backward velocity, that's what my TVI is for? What do these lines mean? Why is there a numbered readout for my current speed but not my target speed? Altimeter? Where can I see if my speed limiter is on or off? That weird line triangle moves a little but it's not clear what that means. What the fuck is going on?
>>1519680Ammo's going up 20 to 50x the price in 4.0 lol.
>>1519821Globally or just for handhelds? Doesn't make much sense for handhelds because you'll just yoink it off corpses and makes little sense for ships because you'll just swap everything to energy weapons for PVE and only potentially bother with ballistics for PVP when you're engaging in lucrative operations.
>>1519827https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uQoSH6cvwo
>>1519840Oh just handhelds. Seems like more of a PVP focused change than PVE since in PVE you'll just rat everything unless they start adding deathsquads with shielded exosuits or power armor which'll mandate particular high powered weapons and ammunition.
>>1519417>>1519604Hercules/Ironclad are awesome but are a huge step up in size/expense compared to what I'm looking for. I think the clamp carry system would be ok with tractor beams as they are, but even without that, a mini Ironclad (or bigger-bay Valkyrie) that could carry one Nova instead of 3+ would be sweet. The AT-TE is actually about the same length as the Spartan/Ballista: roughly 16m, so that still seems like a good comparison.
>>1519840Holy fucking shit, what are these retarded fucking bongoloids doing?I'd ask if they're gonna increase payouts to fucking match this sort of retardation, but I highly suspect they fucking won't. They just want to fuck with the economy and force everyone to buy ships on pledge or CBT people into buying UEC after 1.0 (As if it's fucking coming any time soon).
>>1519692default wont be able to cover them on landing, doesnt have a workshop to repair then and provide spare parts and doenst have jumpseats for an entire platoon of infantry to support them and cover their flanks. if you carry Spartans instead of novas the Assault version can land more than 60 men at a time and cover their landing with its absurd array of turrets. Front ramp alone is covered by 4 quad s3 turrets. As things are now its going to be the best ship for large scale landings short of a Polaris or Idris
They should make a f2play component to plebs. If you're f2play you can be employed as a grunt. Your employer has to outfit you with weapons and armor and it auto equips. You just wake up in a pod on some assault ship when you click play game and whoever has employed you can direct your group to do missions etc.
What lame BiS skins, it's so blatantly obvious that Citcon is destroying CIG. The past 2 years have been a disaster since they started doing them again. This IAE was pretty clearly thrown together in a day or two all the models and graphics are the exact same 1:1 as 2023. The reason the skins look like such as and had to be purple again was because they are using the same showroom assets. The Paladin holoviewer was completely broken for no reason other than CIG doesn't care and has no energy left.shame.
>>1519749Afterburner Fuel Tank :^) boost is called Afterburner in the flight controller of each ship in the game files.
>>1519980>f2p>In Scam CitizenI get what you mean fren but it's from the same company that nerf existing ship to push for sales for their new scam that'll get nerf a month later.
Just finished stage 4. What a slog. Absolute garbage mission sets. What the fuck is narrative about it?
>>1519993>The Paladin holoviewer was completely broken for no reason other than CIG doesn't care and has no energy left.My bet is they put the Crucible there as a placeholder so dataminers couldn't get the Paladin model and spoil it, and then somehow failed to swap it out for the real thing when they were supposed to. The text obviously wasn't proofread either, "an intimidating frontline fight" and so on. My bet is that the proper model and finished text were in a different build "stream" and they fucked up and didn't put it into the final public release, that or they were supposed to do some kind of hotfix/patch the night before that would put it in and for whatever reason failed to do that.
>>1520007What a stupid choice of acronym in a game about ships, though I like afterburner more than boost as a term.
>>1518471>the pilot can take controlokay does that mean the pilot uses them like gimbals or remote turrets and the ship immobilizes?
You guys are just embarrassing yourselves at this point. It's 3rd degree cringe
>>1520056Based zoomzoom.
They got me bros, that absolutely disgusting Reclaimer skin convinced me to CCU into it so I can be a genuine visual cancer. No idea how much actual use I'll get out of it as a primarily solo player but I just think the ship is cool as hell visual design wise and that's good enough for me.
>>1520047Almost certainly works like gimbals, that's how it is on every other ship with a similar dual-function turret.
>>1520095Reclaimer's definitely one of the coolest-looking ships, especially inside where it's an obvious Nostromo homage. It's kinda rough solo but works really well as a duo ship if you can find one person to sling boxes.
>>1519840are they trying to do chris rock gun control in pyro so it's not just tarkov maybe?
>>1520124I don't think even they know what they're trying to do.
These save Stanton missions seriously suck, who has the 80 hours required to do this gay shit?
Am I wrong for expecting some ship commercials for the new ships? This IAE feels barren.
>>1520150phase 1 quite honestly is the worst. phase two is fun, provided you have a sniper rifle, assassinate some chud in the middle of his base, phase 3, just take the mission and wait for the reddit polaris brigade to do it for you, I don't think I was present for a single one of my completions, phase 4 is a simple box cuck. always take the helium & hydrogen job and buy enough to do it 4 times in single and double boxes
>>1519840This change should've coincided with being able to recharge handheld weapon batteries.
it's a shame the most interesting SS mission got scrapped before live. it would have been cool to see players swarming distros on foot and in the air doing combined arms combat. maybe one day they'll figure out how to make a videogame and it will come back.
Boy I sure do love jumping in after a 20 minute jump to see the hauler I'm supposed to protect get killed in 10 seconds.

>>1520267It's just QA faggots. Given the state of SC maybe they deserved to get fired because they've clearly been doing fucking nothing. (But also studios lay off QC all the time, it's super common because it's the entry-level first job where you test people out to see if they're complete fuckups before giving them any real responsibility.)
>>1520299QA is the thing this game needs the most lmao.
>>1520299>studios lay off QC all the time, it's super common because it's the entry-level first jobYeah, but it also makes them the most exploited by companies and generally treated like shit. Whole teams getting fired after crunch and promises is pretty standard stuff. It's not certain by any means, but claiming the layoffs must have been the QA's fault is naive.
>>1519749>Why is it now showing forward/backward velocity,This annoys me so fucking much. It literally make it half as readable, just so I can know how fast I'm going backwards, something I almost never need to know, and even if really wanted to, you already have the velocity speed listed as a number. Mainly I just want so see what my top velocity is set so, but that's just a tiny line and the hardest part to read. I get updating the MFDs, or maybe there was background code that needed to be updated, and making new visuals to work with it was easier than updating the old, I don't know, but they are worse in every way compared to the old ones.I swear this game is designed by people who have never played a video game in their life. The character creator was the real eye opener, as much as the retarded community gushed about it, it's fucking terrible to use. Who the fuck uses a weird click and drag to morph 8 different aspects of a thing by dragging it around in 3d space? This shit must of been designed by an alien from another dimension. There's a good reason no other fucking video game on the planet has ever made a system like this.
>>1520015Yeah, 3 should of been the last phase, and 4 should of been a 1 and done, or at least only 3 parts or give an option for something else, like a combat version. First day made me want to kill myself. Commodity sold out everywhere, freight elevators broke, and when I finally got the shit, someone was just camping Pyro and just blowing everyone up and stealing their cargo so he could finish the contract.
>>1520323What's even worse is that it shows an utter disregard for the mechanics of space flight, and physics in general.Having a forward and backward speed implies that CIG views moving forward and backward as somehow inherently different.Maybe this is why they thought it makes sense that ships with boosted speeds turning around in decoupled mode will somehow slow it down.
CIG is a lesson on why you never fire your Americans and hire english or fr*nch, they're do thing laybouts with failed empires the lot of them.
>>1520174Seriously, this game needs more missions. For a flight game, 90% of the mission involving flight are so fucking boring. Fly to this stationary guy sitting in space for no reason and kill him. That's all you get. You don't even get a fucking escort this guy from here to there while fending off attacks, they literally can't even do that, the "escort" just just sits floating in space. Play literally any other space or fight game and there's ten interesting mission ideas they could probably port into start citizen. At least they finally added one bombing contract, but jesus can we have a little more. I feel like they take away as many contracts as they add. What the fuck happened to Whisters Crypt? Where are my cave bounties?
>>1520330Should have just copied tachyon the fringe and everyone is happy
>>1520224Sure, could be financial trouble or mismanagement.Could also be with them being done with their projects and no longer needed or just them trimming the fat. They still make sales and progress though, as slow as it is, so the indicators aren't overtly alarming.
they are running out of money btw!!
Is there a way to turn off turrets I'm not using? I remember there was a little box you can toggle on the mfds but I don't see them anymore. Do you just remove them?
>>1520547In the current system, if you have weapons installed in a turret, they're drawing power. Even ballistics have a small draw. Remove the weapons if you're never going to use them or slot ballistics if you want something at minimal power cost.
CRUZ Flow > CRUZ Dark > CRUZ Pulse >>>>>>>> Waste >>>>>>>>> CRUZ Lux
>>1520224The layoffs are just 12 people btw.
>>1520665Dark > Pulse > Flow > dirty water from pyro > Lux
>>1520323>The character creator was the real eye opener, as much as the retarded community gushed about it, it's fucking terrible to useI am glad we got the CC because I played for years with weird hair that would break into polys and leave bald spots but it controls like total garbage. When you drag those nodes around your direction of pull doesn't seem to have any effect, pulling up on your nose won't make your nose go up it'll just cycle through various nose types. My mouse also goes off the screen when dragging said nodes making them a nightmare to even use.
>>1520729>When you drag those nodes around your direction of pull doesn't seem to have any effect, pulling up on your nose won't make your nose go up it'll just cycle through various nose typesthat's right, it's basically fake. you're just blending in the direction of the nearest other one they have. I have no idea if they plan to ever do a normal one like every other videogame on earth or continue to hide their lies with new iterations on this
Do any contracts take you to Whistlers Crypt anymore? Do I need a high rep with someone or did CIG break the location and just decided to cut more content again?
>>1520155I was wondering what felt off. No commercials this year, I was thinking it was just that the leaks happened so I knew what was coming, but that happens every year. There's zero hype behind these new ships.
>>1520735It's a weird system for sure and I don't know why nobody talks about how difficult it is to use.>>1520833The whole thing felt phoned in and lame this year.
>testing out hanger loading configurations on polaris>PDCs randomly start shooting at my ship>quickly land before PDCs blow up my ship>PDCs soft death my ship>find that the soft-deathed ship is impounded>pay fine>ship stuck on "transfer to hanger">change servers>can't get out of habok, that's enough SC for this patch
>>1520856yep, the SC experience. See you next year.
>>15208334.0 was supposed to be ready by now, but as always, they missed the date.Likely they have ton of marketing materials ready to blow when Pyro launches, but for now that's gonna stay under the lid.
>>1520776you're the second person I've seen mention that place, I've never heard of it. anything special? unique location etc?
>>1520887Its special because it looks slightly different than the 500 other copy pasted generic locations.
>>1520856You damaged Polaris, anything that turns hostile will be shot at,eg drive ursa in too fast
>>1520887Basically the Ghost Hallow of Daymar.
>>1520833They blew everything on a disappointing citcon so for all intensive purposes this IAE was truly phoned in.
>>1521162>disappointing citcongotta take some issue with that citcon was pretty cool this year.the only gutpunch was 2026Genesis looks good and feasible. the that short demo they did of a final product planet environment with the looked great.the SQ42 demo was awesome aside from the release date.the 1.0 roadmap looks both reachable and big enough to deliver. obviously its not 100 systems but each of the five has more than the original 100 pitched would have had in total and theyre not going to stop at five.basebuilding looked like a good start and crafting looked... acceptable. the whole space stations thing came a bit out of left field, not entirely unexpected but not expected on that scale or soon, I figure that would be a post launch distant pipe dream.New-levski looks amazing.Castra/Sherman looks good and the announcement of system 5 being terra is actually a big deal since thats like to be the de-facto heart system of star citizen.I agree they may have over spent time wise on citcon but citcon this year was impressive.like the simple fact we finally have a discrete image of 1.0 in terms of scale and gameplay is actually huge. More so is the fact that that images scale and gameplay targets seem reasonable and attainable.
>>1521222you have no coherent reply so you make cocksucking sounds.the cock is in your mouth faggot.Ive been here since 2012 I know the score with chris and CIG. Citcon this year was visually and technically impressive with clear direction and reasonable limited targets. You have nothing to say.
>>1521221While I appreciate that this scamcon wasn't overly inflated, the 1.0 shit was still very vague. They literally said "we kinda sorta want it to be kinda like a real mmo" without saying how they will achieve it.Castra was pretty, music was pretty, but the only real relevant thing they showed us was that SQ42 is actually trying to be a game now.
>>1521226>so mad he reportsLove it. I also love how I can spot you immediately because you reddit space in all your posts Gluckgluck3000.
>try and get some friends to fuck around on free-fly>realise just how deep the stockholm syndrome has meMan this game really is a piece of shit. 13 years for this? Fucking embarrassing.
>melt a ship to buy a c1>for some reason theres an option to buy it with or without the BIS paint for the same price>accidentally buy the one with no paint>cant melt it for 24 hours to rebuy the other onefuck off
>>1521341based retard
>>1521345now theres a valkyrie stuck in my hangar and i cant move it idk where it came from im going to scream
>>1521341You're better off that way. Just having the C1 will get you the paint when they do the next distribution wave, and if it's a regular C1 the paint will be a separate, permanent item in your hangar. If you buy the one that includes the paint it's part of the ship package and you'll lose it if you ever melt. I think they'll be distributing the paints today so you'll see if you get it by the time you'd be able to melt.
>>1521360im done anyway my game is broken the valkyrie stuck in my hangar cant be moved and i cant spawn anythinglike its really good this was store credit because if i had just spent real money and couldnt even spawn the fucking ship id be getting banned from spectrum right now
>>1521341The paint looks like ass bro.
>>1521364the whole game is fucking ass bro
Keybindings list "Next - Previous Remote Turret" bound default to A and D, these have never worked for me, never got them to work on for example Reclaimer. Have they ever worked?
>>1521044neat. didn't think there was any settlement type locations on the moons
>people who didn't actually know how to read the flight controller who thought the Starlancer MAX got nerfed get put in their placeyou love to see it
>>1521442qrd?
Solo polaris bros ww@?
>>1521502People saw a stat change and thought it was a handling nerf but it was actually just a bug fix and the ship still flies the same as before.
>>1521530The most powerful solo ERT combo is a cutter and a pulse>shuttle pulse to ERT location>use pulse to board an enemy ship>shoot the pilot and take control>move to exit point and wait until soft death to leave and move onto the next ship>repeat until last ship>take it for yourself or self destruct
>>1521363Just move hangars retard. Yes this game is a buggy peace of shit made by idiots and I'm not defending them, but 99% of the time a hangar bug is unique to the location. Stop being dramatic and just get a ride from someone and call it somewhere else.
does pyro still have blowouts?
>>1521591No idea about the latest build, or what we'll get, but recently in testing they turned it off. I assume they're just turning everything off, then one by one implementing so they can see what's causing issues.
>>1521363>>1521579I've been able to fix stuck ships in the hangar by relogging and then calling a ship from the lobby ASOPs instead of the one in the hangar.
>6 month checkin>my original Kickstarter 325a has new MFDs>the UI is somehow even less usable now>absolutely zero news about the liberator>server performance is assSee you in 6 months.
Im stuck dead, I cant use backspace or anything to revive. I can only chat, no other button really works. I used character repair and it just teleported me to hotel, still dead.Anyone know a workaround?
>>1521686The bug to end all bugs. I guess since your in an apartment no one else can res you either.
>>1521530Does the PDC of the Polaris activate when nobody is in the stupid thing?
>>1521686do you have hydration level? and is it falling? could wait to reach 0 and "die" again maybe
>>1521686got this fixed.but another question, when taking Idris how do you kill the turret guys?
>>1521715yessee >>1520856
>>1521720How did you fix it? I'm the same except I'm stuck dead on daymar and haven't repaired.
>>1521720The only way I've heard of doing it is to park it in your hangar and then relog, when you come back it should be there but without the NPCs in the turrets. (There may be other ones onboard and hostile though.) Be aware that if you try to do this you need to spawn another small ship and put it in the hangar first because there's no way into the Idris from the ground and if you send it down the elevator it's gone.

>>1521745thanks, we found a way yeah
>offered to buy intrepid game packages for my two friends so they'd have an lti ship game package, even if the ship isn't perfect>one says he's not interested in the game because college and is dismissive before I can explain he'll be finished with his degree and have a job before it's even close to release>other says he really likes the intrepid but his 3 month insurance aurora is plenty because he'd only ever be on if he's multicrewing/doing infantry with a group so he doesn't need an lti ship since he'd just have them pick him up from his spawn>missing that if he actually needed to travel on his own for any reason he could get stuck if he can't afford the recovery fee>or that if he really didn't want to do anything but mutlicrew he could force someone to make an hour+ trip just to pick him up and go back to the content depending on what system everyone is in, instead of flying to meet us thereMan does that take the wind out my sails.
>>1521909look for friends within the game, theres no point trying to get your normie friends into this, they'll show up when it becomes mainstream later.desu the amount of shit Ive gotten about it from randoms and normies has given me a backlog of hatred for them and I look forward to abusing them when they show up as noobs in the future.you're like "what if we have to fly an hour to pick you up?" I'm like "ok fine then you just wanna show up and get carried later fuck you for not taking the ride with the rest of us, I'll fly an hour to spawn camp you, not pick you up"if and when star citizen is a real game there will be a strong divide between oldfags and new. make sure you are with the right people new fags are going to get brutally shit on for a while. Like, high traffic newbie areas camped by snares and emps and newbs hunted for sport by people who will at "launch" be hardened veterans.
brehs, the Max kind of cute
>>1521909You can't understand the Aurora chad, but he understands the game. Dude will play SC until he's bored of it, which for 99% of people will be before insurance ever gets introduced into the game.
I'm a bit out of the loop, but do concept ships no longer come with LTI?
>>1522355The wardbond concept sales come with lti.
So did they need redeemer and Corsair just to sell starlancer and paladin?
>>1522464Nerf*, phoneposting
>>1522464There is no objective answer to this honestly but it does feel like it.
>>1521909>trying to palm off the worst starter ship in the game on your matesI would slap your fucking faggot face if you ever offered me an intrepid.
>>1522355Because they want people to spend new money on the game, not melt and rebuy. Greed basically.
>>1522517It's obvious from this post you don't have any friends so I doubt you have much to worry about
>>1522513Everything else I can kinda brush off as rumors etc.But it seems to me like CIG has become increasingly greedy in their monetization efforts, which doesn't sound very good. Either the company is struggling to make money or someone is squeezing to get more dividends..
I got an IRL friend to play through free flight week and then gifting a cutter as xmas gift, offered cutter or mustang-a
>>1522520I don't have friends who play this garbage ass game and try to palm off the worst starter ever made on me because they want to make a company feel better about making such a shit heap. You need a beating. Faggots like you need to get your shit pushed in so you learn humility. I'm sure one of your "friends" will be the one to do it.
>>1522521>CIG has become increasingly greedy in their monetization effortsThis is objectively true but nothing can be proven regarding the nerfs specifically.
They should make level 2 starter ships. Like ships that are in the class of the Zeus or Cutty in terms of power and armor, but smaller and made for single pilots. I love the Cutter and Intrepid, ships that feel like a little home, but I hate how fucking weak they are.
>>1522521>>1522528>CIG has become increasingly greedy in their monetization efforts Every corpo goes in that direction given time, whether they have good financial standing or not. So it doesn't say much.Of course, one of the points of crowdfunding was so that CIG would stay as nice guys and wouldn't become a soulless corporation. But it seems the players are strangely okay with being exploited by the very company they propped up, before CIG even released a single game.
>>1522579They've always been greedy let's be honest. What other game sells ships for 1000+ dollars a couple of years into development?
>>1522583I'm not saying the prices are good nor that CIG isn't greedy but in the current marketplace of video game monetization it's not awful pricing for anything other than hull limited ships due to being able to CCU discout chain into ships, even if they've made it more expensive recently. Again not saying I condone modern video game monetization but when you pair it against popular titles like Gachas, Fortnite, Apex, SC is at worst on par with them except unlike those titles, you can liquidate almost everything you buy and turn it into something completely different. This isn't even to mention that you can buy ships ingame that you "Own" until reset anyway. I wish the industry was so much better but when compared to its competitors, it's pretty generous with the level of control you get.
>>1522464There is method to the madness of both, but that doesn't mean it's mutually exclusive.People don't realise, or they don't want to realise, that the corsair especially was disgustingly overpowered with some of the highest dps in the game on a rickety explorer/transport.
>>1522620>rickety explorer/transport.If the Corsair is an explorer why doesn't it have any exploration equipment and why is it okay for the Aquila to have 4xS5
>>1522612I don't agree. Most people don't CCU. They just buy a ship. CCU'ing itself is just a way to drip dry funds from people for a ship that the company has put an exorbitant price on but obviously isn't worth close to several hundred dollars for an ingame jpeg. Just because you can spend 400 dollars to get a 1000 dollar ship is still greedy as fuck on CIGs behalf in my opinion.
