2.4 WHEN
>>1557392not until at least after february, according to Oni.
Is there any place to download the original songs for this? They have the whole Sealed Sounds on Youtube, but seemingly no place to actually download the less compressed audio files in a batch
>>1557546Probably not happening until Tyron's done making music for it and puts up a bandcamp or something.
>>1557546Go to the game's data folder and open (alt)music.pk3 with Slade, you can export assets using it
Happy New Years, here's to 2.4 hopefully coming. eventually.
I'm going to do it /vm/ros.......I'm going to enter the map contest......https://ring.cerv.id/classic

looks like a whole new cup is indeed on the way, including that entryway map
>>1557366So what's the difference between this and sonic robo kart 2 ?
last thread >>1457865
>>1562985This one's got rangs in it
>>1562985SRB2Kart is a clone of Mario Kart, while DURRR does everything in its power to not be a clone of Mario Kart, for better or worse.
>>1562985SRB2 is "Mario Kart but faster and with heavy user modding support." Ring Racers is more of an experimental thing designed to the tastes of the devs, pulling a lot of design inspiration from shit like WipEout or fighting games, so it's a lot harder to get into especially because the devs fucked up with the tutorial. It does have a solid Singleplayer, though.Basically, play SRB2K if you want a normal game (be wary of crackhead modded servers), play DRRR if you like super niche things designed for weirdo enthusiasts. like me
>>1562985Great description above and for the love of god anon don't jump straight into multiplayer (games pretty dead rn with everyone holding out for the 2.4 update anyway) because you'll be getting your ask kicked way too hard to learn good play habits. Single player is fantastic and has loads of content. You should be ready to tackle online once you've finished the first page of gps, death egg in particular while show you just how threatening the tracks can be.
>>1563455NTA. At what point should you feel ready for multiplayer? Consistently A-ranking Gear 3 GPs?
>>1563463A ranking the first page honestly. The reason I said first page of gps is because of how reliant knowing the tracks is to how well you do, so if you're consistently getting a ranks on a few gps it's not going to prepare you to be demolished by spring yard when it comes up in the track rotation. That being said you can and will develop the ability to sight read tracks and play semi optimally but I think that takes longer than even a ranking GPS will reflect. Skill ceiling is sky high. Of course if you don't care about winning you'll still have a good time, just expect to be playing catch-up most of the race.
I'm seeing a heavy lack of NOIRE.Noire Saturday is starting soon! (in some hours)>You'll need https://github.com/NepDisk/RingRacers-Noire/releases/tag/v1.2.3Alternative: https://codeberg.org/NepDisk/Release-Archive/src/branch/main/Noire/1.2.3IPs (requires Noire to join): Playara: us.playara.moe:1337 —(vanilla v1 in RR & extended map pool)Astro's server: 149.28.62.103 —(RR but with modifications and fixes)

this game would unironically be better without rings
>>1564289>this game would be better if it was a completely different gamei don't understand what compels people to make these retarded posts every thread
>>1564312i think the game is more than just the rings, quite a bit more actually
>>1564321The rings are a fundamental mechanic, dumbassYou can't remove them without drastically altering the entire way the a game works

https://mb.srb2.org/addons/retro-mario.7923/
this game is unironically like poe2 to me, i can see the potential of it becoming incredibly better than the first game but everything is just so unfinished, the only problem is that at least the poe2 devs outright say the game is half baked.
>>1564289>>1564519So have either of you actually gotten good at the game or is this yet again another 'I wasn't good at it immediately therefore the game is bad' critique?
>>1564522hey smallthinks dumbfuck, i never said the game was bad, i think poe2 is a great game with an incredibly solid foundation to go from, and i think the same for this one, the tuning is just no where near there yet.
>>1564524Be specific.
Personally, I'm just waiting for 2.4 because i want to hear people call me a nigger when i parry them in battle mode.

>>1565664Why do some maps require noire?
>>1565701Some tracks have binary-specific setups that would be difficult to get working in UDMF or translated to ACS due to their complexity. Kike Krew disabled the use of certain linedefs specials in UDMF for almost no apparent reason aside from ACS being "better".Vanilla RR disables the Binary config by default, and attempting to open it forces your game to close; noire simply makes it accessible without any specific launch parameters.
>>1565664Here the anon who requested Dreamland. It's okay, shame that is not possible to port that one for what it looks like.I hope the others are not really becoming a huge ass problem to port.Didn't expect Dreamland track becoming such tedious deal.I don't mind if you wanna leave out some of the ones that I mentioned that day, in case that some track leads to that difficult situation. For other part, good shit.Keep it up this ports anon.

Personally, I still feel crossed on the whole roulette system. It's nice that you have some control, but I hate having to look up at the top to see what I'm getting; especially when I'm in the back and I just want and need an item right then and there. I'm already losing, why qualify my access to the comeback mechanic that defines kart racers and potentially give me good-but-worse when I'm desperate. It just feels like an odd sector of the game to demand attention and "skill" from the player. Maybe I'd like it more if the roulette could be above my head, so at least I can still focus on driving. Since 2.4 is supposed to add items above heads when it releases in 2027, maybe someone can mod it in then.
>>1577570Sit back from your monitor and practice looking at something out of the corner of your eyes. It's the same trick as being able to read subtitles without taking your eyes off the action. The ringbox roulette is even easier since it always starts in the same place, so you can just listen for the number of dings to land the jackpot every time.
>>1577570>Since 2.4 is supposed to add items above heads when it releases in 2027It is? that's news to me.
>>>/v/700150840>people still don’t know rings are used to maintain your momentum of stacked speed and boostsIs this true?
>>1578784It depends on the character class, but a few of them use rings for that, yeah.
>>1578710I swear I read that around here, that 2.4 is supposed to let you see what items the other racers have
GGs Green Orange
>>1578784If you're speed 6 or above, yeah. Classes A and D use them for sustain, alongside tethers.
>>1578819Yeah, got lost amongst more interesting info that was coming out >>1577570Honestly I feel like roulettes problems could all be solved by having smaller (say 3 items) roulettes that only need a split second of your attention to parse. Plus it would allow the exp system to give out more varied roulettes that players would want to 'earn' by racing well, which seems to be exactly what they're doing if that duel gameplay video is to be believed.
