The classic Age-of-Sail swashbuckling Sony MMO is free-to-play and a literal blast! If you've never enjoyed it before, do yourself a favor -- download and play it for free at https://burningsea.com
I really do love this game. The devs want to bring it to Steam but they're having trouble getting the funding for it. It's top 3 MMO for me.
4chan could bring this game to Steam with one finger, if they wanted to. Just not the middle finger, ha ha!
Arr, we needs more screenshots!
Okay, that's it for me tonight! Be sure to also check out the game's Discord Server, over at https://discord.gg/burning-sea
Can I have some more info on this please. It's F2P and not P2W? Can all of /vm/ join together on one ship?
>>1561743The game is F2P, and definitely not P2W. Player skill is the most important factor. The two main servers are Antigua (Western TZ) and Roberts (Eastern TZ). There is a third server called Legacy that they set up which uses an older version of the game but it requires a Subscription ($3 USD/month), but if you grind on the Live Servers you can buy Susbcription tokens in the Auction House there and activate them to get 30 Days of Subscription Time apiece. The best way to get into it is to join up with an active Society and learn the ropes with them. They'll guide you, Fleet with you and help you get into new Ships as you gain your sea legs. Join the Discord Server, there's a very vibrant community there. Almost everyone there is interested in helping new players get up to speed -- trading, sailing and skirmishing with them.
>>1561743To your other question, it's pretty much one Captain per Ship -- all of /vm can't sail on one ship. When you are on the Open Sea, you are the Captain of your Ship, and when you Dock in a Port, you disembark and are that Captain. You can go around as that Captain in towns and on land if you like, interact with other Captains, go on Missions, participate in Port Battles to capture Fortresses and Towns -- and much, much more. Check it out, and enjoy!
>>1561743Yeah its f2p, and I wouldn't say p2w since everything in the cash shop the vets can probably just give you since they probably have some ships or whatever laying around. I don't think there is anything you can only get by paying for. As for grouping you can do 6 people to a group, and you don't crew others everyone has their own ship. I'd say its about like a multiplayer sea dogs game
This was my favorite mmo of all time but they unfortunately fucked up the Legacy launch hard
>>1563466After the initial crashing and other problems at launch, they increased cannon accuracy, added First & Second Rates, added Level 50 Advances and even removed Group Strength. Its much more of a true "Legacy" experience today than it was at launch. You might want to give it a second look now that it's had time to cook.
>>1563708No, I'm referring to the devs letting their pre-Legacy paypigs cheat at launch and not doing anything about it.
>>1564098as someone new I didn't like legacy, it seems abandoned and didn't feel as good to play as live. I guess if I had nostalgia it'd be better
Looks neat. Can me and my friend jump right in and play together or is there a prolonged tutorial
>>1565761tutorial is quick but you can choose to skip it and it spits you out in the same town as long as you are the same nation, you can't be different nations
>>1561469Yeah, used to play this one for a bit. Recently got relounched version a spin too. But desu ship fights take too long for me these days.
>>1565750From a business perspective I get why they did what they did, I'm just not going to pay $15 to play against it at this point in life, no matter how much I may like the game. I wanted to play Legacy because at some point the economy was totally broken on the normal servers.
