Come check out an experimental Minecraft server>Server IP: theserverwont.workThalassa is an experimental anarchy server that protects notable historical landmarks and points of interest. The main goal of the server is to see what happens when you create an environment that encourages players to actually explore the map and interact with each other, while providing an end goal to be achieved. versus the traditional experience of aimlessly wandering through ruins, only to wind up having the same routine experience as always: "single player with chat until the base explodes" as is the theme with nearly all anarchy servers.Historical Landmarks are designated only when a base or monument has reached several years in age, or becomes a significant point of interest on the server. as time goes on, historical designations will be made less and less often. The server aims to recreate a (mostly) vanilla environment and traditional gameplay style. There are NO /warps /home commands or anything of the sort. The server runs in version 1.19 (mostly to avoid the implementation of the social interactions/chat reporting feature) but will more than likely be updated in the future when absolutely necessary. The map has been running since last january with a small but dedicated community.Feel free to hop on and check it out. You'll probably end up having a good time.or maybe a bad time, I'm not sure. either way i can guarantee it will be time.Discord/reddit fags strongly discouraged>Server IP: theserverwont.work

>>1684069you mentioned goal twice whats the goal how is this experimental explain explain explain
>>1687038Well the idea is that if you build a base that survives for a notable period of time it becomes a protected area that stays around forever.
>>1687038The whole idea is to incentivize people into a different playstyle that would encourage creativeness and originality, versus hiding away in the far corners of the map until the end of time for fear of being raided.
>Historical Landmarks are designated only when a base or monument has reached several years in ageI'm betting your server won't last that long. And if a base has to last serveral years to become a historical landmark you'll still have to go tens of thousand of blocks away from spawn. If you want to encourage players to interact with each other and actually play the game not thousands of blocks away from each other you need to just use a normal land claim plugin.
>>1695744>I'm betting your server won't last that longOnce upon a time back around 2013 I had to get on /b/ BEGGING people to playthis one dead server that nobody gave a shit about and nobody would bother logging into.that server was 2b2t.orgI got all sorts of backhanded responses and dead threads just like this before I gave up.came back to the game a few years later and guess what i was asking?>"WTF is this new queue thing? Is this a joke? hause are you fucking with me?"I will never ignore my personal intuition ever again, when I know something is a potentially ground breaking idea, I will stick to it and keep presenting that idea until other people are able to catch up.What we're doing here is the start of something new that improves upon the unrefined ideas of the past.Maybe it will work? maybe i'm wrong. either way it costs me basically $0 to find out.
>>1695744also, I forgot to mention>And if a base has to last serveral years to become a historical landmarkIt doesn't have to be. as the original post mentions we protect "historical landmarks and points of interest"the key being "Points of interest". If you get on now while the map is still in its early stages and actually build something theres a high likelyhood that we'll protect it for being early to the party. As time goes on we're going to have to build a concrete set of rules outlining what flies and what doesn't, but as of right now its completely open ended.>If you want to encourage players to interact with each other and actually play the game not thousands of blocks away from each other you need to just use a normal land claim plugin. We do use a normal land claim plugin. However the only one with access to it is the server operator.
>>1684069not really anarchy if "historical landmarks" and "points of interest" are proteected
>>1702039Yeah its really not, but were not sure what else to call it.
