Armor archetypes, along with reputation, are something that CIG has talked about extensively with next to no actual development progress on them. You can, more or less, expect a dumbed-down version when it comes out, just like how the reputation system is getting stripped of all its meaningful consequences (not preventing criminals from landing at major hubs) before they have even started development.

Fun times in SC:
EU Server: Get hit by a squad of 5 fighters with mantis to kill our polaris. We get hit pretty bad but I decide to try and reverse away from the mantis and shoot a torpedo. It just drives right into it and we leave with 1 engine on.

Asia server: A really good Gladius pilot fucks up my two fighter pilots while im flying Caterpillar as a meme. He simply cannot kill the caterpillar, too much shield - i do too much annoying turning to get shields back.
Eventually my fighter pilots get obliterated by him again, but one of the ejects - I pick him up and next time gladius tries to get the shields he get hit so bad he qt's away.
