All these "events" are exhausting. FOMO, event-driven economy, mandatory login times, incentivizing fishing and afking. Not fun, too many, honestly makes me want to quit especially due to the whole "loyalties" expiring. Like, what's even the point?

yeah the fomo-mongering is off the charts, and I say this a new player.

But still discovering the world of BDO as a new player is amazing, attention to detail is really astonishing.
Almost every NPC has is his own one-or-two-liner, most of them even funny....
And the scenery and sooo many quests, it's very refreshing playing something like this in current year.

what's this game like these days? I haven't played since like 2018 and i've lost my account because I never migrated it when PA split from Kakao. is it worth starting over or should I just not bother coming back?

Crystals and shit basically, dyes for sov weapons and so on. Yeah you can buy most of that stuff but ppl are grinding like 6-8b an hr at the highest endgame spots iirc, so grinding is still very good money.

The game is great in some ways, but worse in others compared to 2018, but definitely worth playing. If you like the more real or immersive feeling of things from the early days then most of that has been removed in favour of quality of life, and the combat is very different, not meaning it's terrible however. On the plus side it's far easier to gear up, to a point, and the game itself is still fun to play. People who sit and afk fish all day might be doomers but considering most of them don't actually engage with much of the game I don't think they should be listened to.

It's not all weekly, there is a lot of weekly stuff to do, but not much is locked behind it especially until just before endgame, and if you want silver you can just go grind as much as you want with very few restrictions.

That would be cool, every time I joined a /vg/ guild in an mmo it has been a really fun experience, but my main worry when it comes to BDO is my latency. I heard succession witch, which is what I'm aiming for in the end, has really high APM, and I'm afraid I'd be gimping myself in that regard if I pick a distant server. Transfering means starting over too, yeah? Can't bring a character that's already been created over, other than appearance.

I'm waiting for the stupid duck and bear outfits gooks love so much. Every single one of their games ends up looking the same in the end. I've seen it all before. You'll have one half in beachwear, wearing duck floaties, sunglasses, strawhats and giant animal plush toys for weapons, and another half in fursuits, all riding in the most obnoxious mounts possible, like tiny police cars with annoying alarm sounds. It's the highest apm class in the game for pve, a bit higher than succ ninja grinding. You need to be focused 100% of the time to not drop inputs and such, tons and tons of animation cancelling, very few long animation skills that allow you to breathe for cooldowns, it's very intensive. If you wanna play witch that badly her awk spec is a lot easier and probably just as strong last I checked, haven't grinded on witch in over a year.

The epheria sailboat is slow, handles like a drunk sailor and can't hold shit and god help you if you actually want to fight something in it because Satan crafted those cannons.
You have to upgrade to a caravel asap but that's pretty expensive, even with Ravinia giving you half the materials for it with her questline.
Sure you can skip all of that by straight up buying a carrack but not if you're newcutie.

It's 3.1b per refresh, assuming you have a big stock of t4 mats. 2 refreshes per day without VP, 3 with it. Each refresh seems to need 2-3 hours with a boat around 185% speed. Advance and Balanced seem to be winning, since you need 20-22k of free weight to do t4->t7 without stops.

It's closer to what bartering used to be some years ago, a semi-afk lifeskill that you can do for 6 hours per day, with recent day's profits. The boat's pathing still sucks guacamole nigga penis and the boat gets stuck onto rocks all the time, I already found 2 new spots where it will keep getting stuck, at the bridge near Grana.

Don't buy a balance. Fuck it, don't buy a valor or volante either, i've had a max speed one and it didn't blow me away. Just get an advance because that's what's best for ocean content i.e. semi-afk cargo transport.
If i were you i'd get the shitty sailboat and start bartering to get a sense of it, chances are you don't even like it and you save 50 bil. If you do like it though there's plenty of autists who are happy to take you on their dailies for carrack materials, and it doesn't take that long to craft one yourself.
