icarus was a disaster
I didn't mind it. I got to play with someone I enjoy playing random MMOs with.
>>2391948you sound like you take it up the butt
>>2392036My sexual proclivity doesn't matter. I like playing games with a certain someone and these games let me, so.
>>2392038i know who u r hehe
In unrelated mmo news, Star Trek Online (dunno if it's on the list) is running a quick start campaign and giving away a free Vanguard Jem'Hadar, a premium species unlock, character per account until may 21. Plus there's a gamma recruitment campaign also running.https://www.playstartrekonline.com/en/news/article/11580531
having a gaming buddy is great but i feel bad when i drag him through absolute dogshit, so please vote better!
>>2392078this game would be incredible if they removed ground completely.
>>2392039False. I am a figment of your imagination.
>>2392082Ground combat always felt like an afterthought compared to space combat, it either boil downs to smashing the two fire buttons or using bs overpowered kit powers that nuke the whole screen. Hell, compare the talent trees for space and ground without the advanced specs.
>>2392126It was an afterthought. Ground exploration was added a year after release.
>>2391923I wanted to like it, but game got me hella down. Didn't catch up to any anons, and things happened way too fast those weeks for me to do any sort of power leveling.Wonder if our experience would be better if we picked Origins instead of Phenex
It's not being scared of words, I just don't really want to play videogames with pedophile ERPers
>>2392662>Anon play loli doll>Get called an erp pedo?
>>2392674It's low-effort trolling, ESLkun, just ignore it.
>>2392251Unless Origins is massively different then probably not. I just didnt like it.
>>2391923Riders of Icarus is a weird one. It's not a bad game (even if the combat is oddly sluggish for an Action-MMO), and there's plenty to enjoy about it, but it just doesn't mesh well with our two-week format.Themepark-style titles will probably always struggle to be held in high regard around here, since their entire structure is centered around soloing (or near-soloing) to the level cap where all the actual multiplayer content is. They're the polar opposite of ultra-crusty, late 90s/early 2000s MMOs, where the ONLY way to get anything done is by being in a party 24/7 (which sounds fine until you aren't able to find one and can't make any meaningful progress on your own). There very much exists a Goldilocks Zone of solo versus multiplayer for an MMO to ideally hit, and being too far outside of it can lead to some strong opinions on whether a game is actually good or not.
>>2392748Anon, it's not an action MMO, movement options aren't as good or useful, there is no mobility to be had. It's tab target but a few classes have dodge (that barely work)
It is really funny how all the effort for your project goes into the game voting system instead of server choice.
>>2392756Sometimes there's not much choice to be had, and we have to just go with whatever exists.Other times, the lack of foreknowledge about how a game works makes deciding on the optimal server murky. It's best to have someone who's played these games before give their opinion on whether 1x rates are unbearable or if 15x is too high, etc, but that's not always an option for us.Nobody here played Icarus before, for example, so we had to make a decision based on cursory opinions looking-in from the outside, prior to any of us fully understanding the game's default progression rate. Maybe things would have been better received had we landed on Origins, with its slightly faster leveling curve and free Elluns every hour, but we simply didn't know if those changes would be important at the time, or if it would've muddied the game's intended experience. Some Anon prefer higher rates and getting to see more of these games while we're here, whereas others want to preserve some of the sanctity of the earlygame and not necessarily rush past it. You can't please everyone.Generally speaking, I would argue that 3-15x rates are a safe range to fall under, considering the limited timeframe we give ourselves for any of these titles. Of course, settling on this range (if the options are even available) still requires some prior knowledge of what we're getting into, since for some MMOs, even 150-300x rates are seen as merely "functional". (Although these absurdly high rates are usually only found in VERY old KMMOs, where The Grindâ„¢ is basically all there is. Flyff, Kal Online, Lineage II, etc).
My biggest fear is us landing into some kino like LOTRO or City of Heroes, but lacking enough time to cover a good chunk of the gaemo..
>>2392756This is more of a social event than it was ever about actually playing and enjoying a video game.
>>2392709>disliking the current state of the project is low effort trollingPeople like you are why things turn to shit.
>>2392907Maybe you guys should think about stating this in your OP instead of baiting people into thinking you actually play through dead MMORPGS.
>>2392829any good mmo can't be fully covered in 2 weeks, nobody even got close to the end of wakfu
MMO idler gereral
>>2391923As someone who decided not to play it from the start, was was wrong with it?
>>2391923the familiar system was cool but man the leveling process was awful. having to complete like 30 quests for 1 level is horrid. we probably should have picked origins or one of the servers that gave 2x exp >>2392251I quit around level 22 after doing the vampire dungeon with another anon
>>2392991thats why there are votes to extend the current game by a week but thats only if players are committed to the current game. a lot of anons get bored and want to move on before reaching endgame and doing raids though I would like if we did eventually
>>2392829Thats what week 3 is for, and the project is about looking into MMOs more than it is about fully investing into end game. Also as a CoH player theres tons of power level options (Fire farming, PI Radio farming) so on the final day I can get on my farmer and power level everyone up and we do max level content.
>>2392829Yeah, LOTRO is a bad game for this. You're supposed to take things really slow. There are so many quests in the game that expands the LOTR universe. The atmosphere of the game is really amazing too. Exploring the Shire during the day with the calm and soothing music is so nice. Then if it's a rainy night you go inside an inn or a bar and the rain is muffled combined with the soundeffects of bar sounds is so comfy. I've been playing for 2 months and I still haven't fully explored the first expansion.
>>2392985>you guysI merely observe, which is enough to receive inflammatory retaliation.
Hey guys, I checked Age of Conan and you won't believe this: The halloween mission is still up. In fucking AprilFuncom announcing that update for Conan Exiles gave me the false hope that they did get enough dosh from DUNC Awakening to start fixing shit across the board
Riders of Icarus is dogshit. I played it at release for maybe 30 hours. Dropped it, joined again a few days ago to play with you guys and after 10 hours I just can't go on for longer. Fuck this game.
>>2393557You never played Riders of Icarus, everyone can tell because nobody in-game has played that little. Stop spamming your made-up bullshit because people don't want to play your slop.
stinky neets playing mmos together has never felt so
>>2374343>Nin OnlineInteresting timing. The village elections kicked off a few days ago. These events significantly changes the experience and have a direct impact on new players. Whenever the game gets picked, I intend to provide guidance similarly to our Dark Ages run. Hopefully the new kages don't suck.
>>2393301Yeah, we don't need to "clear" the game, but I feel the experience is incomplete if we don't stratch everything the game has to offer desu.Take City of Heroes for example, it has raids, dungeons, contested pvp zones, super HQs/Secret hideouts, aligments and so on, not experiecing a bit of everything feels like a missed opportunity
>>2394214That's not any more than what any other game has to offer. On the other hand, CoH gameplay looks terrible.

We've got some good choices this time around. I think last time it was lacking hence the Icarus win. But CoH, Wushu, Hellgate, all pretty interesting.
Since Dark Age of Camelot has been on the polls a few times I thought I'd share this update which is pretty timely and interesting, Endless Conquest = FTP accounts btw: https://www.darkageofcamelot.com/patch-1-130a-live-notes/>Endless Conquest accounts can now play all races>Endless Conquest accounts can now play all classes>Exit screen duration will now display for only 5 seconds.

>>2407838>Classic FlyFFWanting 1x rates on FlyFF or any grindfest like it sounds like a real "you think you do, but you don't" scenario. Rushing past things on highrate servers can suck, but being stuck in the earliest parts of earlygame with barely anything to do for weeks straight on 1x rates sucks even more.A midrate server without the revamped progression we saw would have been nice though, even if it would've made tanks basically irrelevant.
>>2407907Yea by classic I meant an older patch but 1x rates wouldn't get us very far. I do not wish to play patch 7+ Flyff again. Tanks would still be useful for mobbing, which is where most of progression in old Flyff was.

Doesn't seem that complicated.Ideally this call would be made before the deadline rolls around, but you bunch still have a day-and-a-half to determine if Age of Wushu qualifies as functional for a two-week stay.
>>2411153Only thing I'm worried about with Wushu is if the other anon who mentioned it being open PvP where you can't opt out brings the chance of us getting farmed if there are chinese whales playing. Not sure if true, I've never played the game.

The game is easy to install, runs well on modern systems, and has decent ping. There are still some veteran players around. It seems to be an instanced-corridor type of MMO, so you mostly encounter others in the in-between lobbies. So far, I haven’t run into any problems.

Haven’t found a bag yet, and loot takes up a lot of space. There’s a personal and shared stash, but they’re about the same size. You can craft and break stuff down, so I guess the game doesn’t want you hoarding everything.

Alright, it seems to be a full-on Diablo/Path of Exile style loot-driven game, so every class should be viable, and you can apparently even make meme builds. I’ll wait for the actual start, but it feels like the early game goes by fast.
Good news. Perpetuum updated the Terramotus to be slightly less sucky. So when we revisit the game no one wanted to play the first time, I'll be able to harvest plant slightly faster.

For real though the "intended" grind in Icarus by the developers is completely ridiculous. There are mounts you can only get by farming like 10 of a different mount that requires you to farm a bunch of world bosses like 10-20 times. Then you need MULTIPLES of those top-tier mounts because you can socket them into your gear, among other things. Seriously, imagine farming the same level 20 world boss (on a 5 minute respawn timer) hundreds or thousands of times.

When it comes to eligibility does LOTRO count as potentially being on the voting list? I know LOTR is a big franchise but the MMO is decades old now. It has a medium sized community I'd say. Enough to keep it alive and servers up.

I have lobby game "MMO" fatigue
>>2418619In a world where we can just vote fun thing after fun thing we constantly just pick dogshit after dogshit where people are just quitting before the end of week 1. It's pretty tiring I want the tourists to go home
We could be on week 3 of puzzle pirates right now..
>>2418619I don't know why people are picking these games where you barely interact with each other through lobby gameplay or why people feel like they are getting shitposted for playing anime games, it's a anime/japanese heavy cultured website naturally that's what people are going to gravitate towards to. At least 60+ people(minus 5 or so alts) came to try out iris or wakfu. icarus got barely 1/3rd of that and everyone quit by the 3rd day. I'd rather just play these "shitty" anime mmos where at the least people will at the bare minimal show up or funny games like toontown or puzzle pirates where people stick around for the memes
>>2418667tfw we're getting bullied by normalfags for playing anime games..

okay so theres an item you get from a quest from techsmith 42 in charing cross station called piece of mind after completing it you get the piecemaker that goes into your inventory and automatically loots items and dismantles items for you. this shit should be in the game from the tutorial I wasted hours picking up items manually and dismantling them one by one so id advise against it until you get this

Can we get a game where we can actually see each other? Lobby based games are purely clique based. If you don't get in with someone at the start, you're stuck playing alone the whole time.
>>2431208atlantica has a lot of soul>>2431358true
>>2431358Just ask for a lift anon, ArchangelAnon and I been helping anons since monday, plus with more anons reaching normal mode endgame, there is more reason to help you all, since playing with a party gives you more xp and loot, and we will need those for Hard mode
I'm not about to scream at anyone for voting it up, but Haven and Hearth is rust tier in how much coordination you need to do to stay unmolested overnight. You're also not going to have much fun at all in 2 weeks unless nobody overlaps their jobs.We typically only organize on this thread if at all, so our 2 weeks will probably be spent blindly walking around our random spawn anywhere in any continent and getting murdered by a random badger before we see another soul.we could try joining and inciting violence between 2 open groups but that's probably not happening either
>>2432739There's a global or crew chat of any sort at least?
>>2432756there's DMs (have to friend someone you see first), parties (friends only), towns and kingdoms (only within those areas and kingdom chatters who aren't friends are anonymous if i remember right)it basically all rests on rolling the spawn lottery until you find someone, which is hard if we literally only talk on an image board.you can find your position on an online map, i think? but i think that was player maintained so i can't be sure if it's active for this world anymore. so one guy could be an anchor and post their location here... which reveals them to griefers who know this thread has had this game in the chamber for months.
>>2432790Man, that kind blows, seems the sort of game that could only be played proper with a very tight crew, but I ain't running a discord just for this.I feel this proyecto feels a bit free for all sometimes, I am quite new, but it surprised me that no anons call for parties here or schedule dungeons/instance clears of the sort, most anons just play alone and we chat over /g once in a while, some don't even talk, they join ane say nofin
I am shilling for Puzzle Pirates.Puzzle pirates is a pirate themed MMO from 2003. The basic gameplay involves taking one of several roles on the ship (Bilging, Sailing, Carpentry, Rigging, Gunning, Navigating, Battle Navigating, or Patching) and completing puzzles themed around that task. Your performance in that puzzle directly affects the sailing of the ship. Better Sailing puzzlers will make the ship sail faster, while guns can not be fired unless a gunner cleans and reloads the barrels and so on.You can sail with the navy in order to practice and learn the puzzles but you'll get paid less than a 4chan mod to swab the decks. Ideally we'll either be jobbing for another crew or sailing our own ships, where we can fight brigands, haul treasure, or forage. Profits would then be partially put towards restocking and repairing the ship and then paying out the rest of the crew.I don't think we'll get to participate in any real blockades due to low playercount but if people are looking to make big money they can get into sea monster hunts. As side jobs there's shoppe labor, parlor games, as well as invasions. The game also features housing, cosmetics, and one of my favourite social features, paintings. Paintings remain in the game permanently, so can be our way of leaving a mark on the game.Known problems: Puzzle pirates will be a low playercount game, which we're used to, but that causes some other problems. It may be hard to find ships willing to take on 10-20 new players at a time. Your scoring (and thus performance) is also going to be compared against people who have played for 20 years and/or are cheating. Unlocking some content requires badges, which will require some grinding. Creating a crew requires an upfront fee (negligible) but requires the person to have an amount of skill in all roles. It shouldn't take too long to get to or if someone already has an old account they can just create the crew for us.
>>2433051Can't we just get a ship for ourselves? Some anons were saying that they can get the biggest ship in the game for us if puzzle pirates happened to be voted
>>2433081We'll definitely have a ship for ourselves, I don't know the anon who said they have the ship, but that would be great.
>>2426289i'm not one of you guys, but i played puzzle pirates and rose online as a kid and really enjoyed them. i've heard good things about aion. gl anons
>>2432863>I feel this proyecto feels a bit free for all sometimes, I am quite new, but it surprised me that no anons call for parties here or schedule dungeons/instance clears of the sort, most anons just play alone and we chat over /g once in a while, some don't even talk, they join ane say nofinthe clique accusations are overblown, but there really is a core group of people that just party with each other every game and progress through each mmo we do with that party.
>>2434106That's no good, I think we should take a more active instance into calling anons into action. Will see if I can boost a few anons into Syndonai this weekend, so we all can progress to Nightmare mode next week
>>2433051i played this when it was in betano idea if I still have my account or the info for itit is neat, but the puzzles got old fast so i dropped itprobably good for a week
>>2433051Fuck it I used to play Tetris for hours on end I'm probably autistic enough for Puzzle Pirates
>>2432790https://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Wilderness_BeaconIf H&H wins it won't be a a huge problem to spawn together.>>2432863The playing population is too low and 2 weeks is too short to do anything organized in game. I feel like the time would need to be a month per game for anyone to bother.
>>2434329Oh yeah, I forgot about the beacon. But I agree, 2 weeks would suck. This is the kind of game you'd make a new thread for and play for WAY longer. We'd also absolutely need some kinda chat outside the game that isn't an anon forum - Full PvP games would just be frustrating enough otherwise to make us break any rule on staying anon.I also can't stress this enough: From experience joining 4chan groups for this kind of game, you are going to be double crossed by "new" players joining MMOD for the first time. The combat system is too esoteric. The one guy who suggested this game will not be enough on his own to keep this group from being a free two weeks of labor for 3 or 4 random pollacks who happened to notice this thread.I would, genuinely, pick Puzzle Pirates over this if we're not going to assimilate and actually play it the way its environment demands (inevitable inside threat included), and I've been one of the more verbose people in saying that's not even an MMO.
>>2434792>>2434329This warning note goes out the window if the guy who suggested it is already established with a group and we already know who we're giving free labor to, by the way. While working on someone's plantation is only marginally more fun than going berrypicking for two weeks, someone who already has his town's locks and permissions set up is an infinitely greater host than everyone starting on the same page.
>Free laborTf are you guys on? Is there a slavery mechanic in HH?
>>2434889You need to specifically learn the concept of crimes with a huge skill point investment in order to move within claimed land or fight other players or kill them (these last two are separate). Even if they did spend all that beforehand, maybe the locks on your gates are just really high quality and hard to pick. This creates a context where you could reasonably make someone a serf by trapping them or knocking them down and carrying them home if they don't want to start over from 0. It also makes permission control and the safety of your leader ("lawspeaking" is also an expensive skill purchase) really important if you're trying to keep a group from being insided.
>>2434889>>2435007When I said "free labor" it was kinda more to the point of "I'm doing nothing for the group and building up a combat alt with your food, so eventually I just kill the mayor and take everything" a week into the game, though. If the person pitching this game did so with the intent to let people fuck around in a town that already had fighters to protect it, though, it's more just "come pick wheat or churn butter for 2 weeks and i'll show you how to stomp on ants"
>>2435007That's vile af, reminded me how in Reign of Kings you could just knock a low level dude and trap him forever in a cage
No one voted on that game yet, stop schizoing about the thread being insided or whatever, we are not big enough and I don't think the average player would care, since the average anon plays for 3 days and then leave. That game is there because we literally add anything that has the MMO tag on the poll, 99% of the anons don't even know the games they are voting and we learn things on the fly or during the last voting days, Icarus week proved a such, there were anons voting on Wushu without even being aware that there's no PS's and the base game is a chinese populated server with heavy pay to win mechanics, they voted because the name was funni and the screenshots looked cool
>>2435054That unfortunately removes the only good way into this game entirely, but I guess it's otherwise helpful to know the people organizing this don't really think.
>>2435054what is bro yapping about
>>2435054>ESLopinion discarded
>>2436362Hello saar
>>2433081It would have to be funded by someone who already pays and has the money as big ships are costly, we wouldnt get the money for a big ship in two weeks for sure. However with the amount that play MMODventure games a small ship with suffice just well.
This is why I'm pro rigging as Hellgate is pretty fun without rigging we just get another weebslop
>>2436418top tier deflection
>>2434792>>2434800>>2435007>>2435025If you like the game so much we should just play it. I bet you'll have a great time trying to shepherd a bunch of retards around while manipulative jackasses try to harm them. And afterwards you can say "I told you so". I bet you'll have fun though.Of course there's no fucking chance I'm voting for some shitty survival crafting meme game
>>2437070On reread it sounds like I'm being sarcastic but genuinely I do think you'd have fun. Unless everyone just quit on day 3, but it's not like that cost you anything. The appeal of the MMOdventure to me is getting to experience a game firsthand and judge it for myself. If I just wanted to pick a game based on what sounds good in theory, I'd go to reddit and find some "obscure gems <3" thread. I don't need to hear someone else's opinion. I definitely don't need a synopsis of the game - I can go to steam for that. The MMOdventure gives you a rare opportunity to actually judge the merit of an obscure game for yourself.About Iris Online people would have said "oh no it's shit, its just a generic anime MMO, the grind is terrible at level 60+, we really need a month to enjoy the endgame, all the skills do the exact same thing, and all anyone does is abuse invulnerability from one monster transformation". But in total it was actually a fun game with some good ideas. You could say the same things about perpetuum or ucgo, any PvP game, oh you'll get spawncamped, someone else will use you, you'll never have time to accomplish anything real. But I liked perpetuum a lot.About vindictus people would say BEST COMBAT EVER IN AN MMO and I thought that game was mostly shit. About Riders of Icarus, if you listened to the online opinion, absolutely nothing prepared me for how shit it was. And even if I tried to put it into words, what I read almost sounds fun. You're constantly expected to switch mounts, old school grindy MMO with real world bosses and a real farm, distinct classes with quirky gimmicks but interesting little optimizations? Sign me up! And that game sucked major shit, genuinely unfun to play. You have to let people experience things for themselves, and if you like the game enough to warn people about all its failings, you should have enough faith in the things you like to say - yeah, that'd be a funny way to spend two weeks.
LaTale bros lock in
>>2433081>>2436450I have 800k PoE, from what I gathered the biggest ship we'll need is maybe a merchant brig or Baghlah, both cost under 100k. If puzzle pirates wins I won't be playing because im busy but i'll give whoever is in charge the 800k to fund the ship + stuff like supplies and hiring mercs. I think the real annoyance will be getting everyone badges which cost goybucks (can be bought with PoE) so they can do things like run the cannons, and also making a guild you need narrow/proficient in every puzzle
>>2436466Hellgate fucking sucks thoughbeit
>>2437805I don't think you need a badge to do gunnery or navigation anymore since they removed the pirate badge. If you're not an officer though, you'll need an officer to order you to navigate if you want to do that. People might want bravery badges or their own officer badge though.
>>2438221The anons are having fun
>>2438233>>2437805As a player yeah you can do gunnery and navigation through being ordered.
>>2437805Would you be able to create the crew for us even if you're not going to play? As long as you promote people to officer so they can invite others I don't think who owns the crew would matter, right?
>>2437805how do the puzzles work? do you have to do all of them? I like the tetris one and repairing ship one but not some of the others (I watched a video)
>>2440783You should give every puzzle a try when you're in the game but you will generally have your pick of what puzzle you want to do. If you look at the chart in >>2437805 you can see the amount of stations of each type on the ship. If we run a baghlah there's 6 sails, 4 carpentry, 4 bilge, and 3 gunning stations. So 17 different jobs + 1 for the navigator. We can fill empty spots with npcs. There are some exceptions to this: Obviously theres only one navigation slot on the ship, so if multiple people want to navigate they'll have to take turns. The other exception is there are some puzzles that everyone aboard the ship will need to participate in. Swordfighting (the tetris one) or Rumble are used when fighting the crew of other ships. Treasure haul and foraging will be an everyone job in those missions. If we do sea monster hunts like kraken, everyone pilots their own rowboat which is the same as battle navigation.TL;DR Yes, you can just do Swordfighting and Carpentry if you want (mostly).

>>2445863True.. It would kinda suck for that person to have grinded all that money and then not get to play with the group.

Last year on MMODs anniversary we went back and revisited some games that we'd previously played. We played two games that we'd voted on over two weeks. Do you think we should do that this year as well?
>>2451377Yes

>>2451714See earlier shilling post for Puzzle Pirates: >>2433051I think puzzle pirates was genuinely a good game and people would like it if they gave it an earnest chance. If you're someone who likes group play or contributing to a group objective, this is one of the games that really focuses on that. It's actually something I feel like most MMOs miss the mark on, where most MMOs feel like you're playing a singleplayer rpg and then occasionally you see another player who helps you with a quest.Vote Puzzle Pirates.
Vote Shroud Of The Avatar, it's got chicken roasts.
>>2451377I've played most games in the past year. It'd be fun to revisit a game, but I'd be okay continuing to play new ones as well. I think doing something to celebrate is a good thing in general.Would be nice to hear opinions from people who are bummed they missed some games.
>>2451377Yeah! I wanna try some games I missed!
>>2451377yes
>>2451377>>2452055Would we be doing just games from the last year or are any games open? >>2452099I think all games would be the most fun, minus ECO and PSU because they were played last time. At the least it'd be good to get the games played from just before the last anniversary since no one would have voted them for a revisit so soon at the time.
>>2452099Think we should chaff off recently played MMOs in say the last 6 months and any games with ongoing threads still going like Toram, DDO(s), Spiral Knights
>>2452099How was D&DO? If it was fun then it has my vote
I'd exclude the games we played in 2026, ECO and PSU.
There's also the question wether we should do 2 games, 1 week each again or 2 weeks for 1 game. I'm not so hot on either option, so that'll be for (You) to decide.
>>2452099>Warhammer Onlineid vote to play this because I missed out
>>2452263scenarios in warhammer r fun if you have a group
I would never bother replaying anything you guys played previously, but this is run by a clique so enjoy your ERP game of choice for 2 weeks.
>>2452290>I would never bother replaying anything you guys played previouslyWhy?
>>2451714Hey everyone wouldn't it be funny if we snatched Puzzle Pirates away from the jaws of victory again for the third time? Just give it momentum, make it look like its gonna win then on the final vote STAB IT IN THE BACK AGAIN.
>>2451377Yes, there are some games I see that you've already played that I wish I played with you guys but I didn't know about MMOdventure at the time>>2452055There are a lot of people who arrived later, me included, that missed out on a lot of the super early games. So I'd want all of them.
>>2452137I mean it still has threads going and its been months. So a lot of people stuck around to still play it.>>2452150I'd prefer 2 games, 1 week each.
>>2452353I don't want to join something where people already have established characters and understand all of the mechanics etc.
>>2452388huh? Do you never look up anything on the wiki when you play? I'd rather have people around who can tell me how to avoid fucking up my character so I can actually make some progress.
>>2452388Well it doesn't have to be on our pre-established characters. It might be a perfect opportunity to check out other versions of the game. For example Star Wars Galaxies has been played but there's tons of different private servers that are based on different eras of the game Pre-CU, Post-CU, New-CU etc. We could go to a different one. Thats just an example.Same with say, Toontown, though I don't think that'd get voted to win, there's another private server thats entirely different to the one we played.
>>2452388We used new lv1 characters for our last revisit.
>>2452388you a straight busta
>>2452388>>2452406This is why the ECO revisit was disappointing, for some reason the same server was voted so everyone knew the progression path and hidden quests so the magic and discovery the first visit was completely gone. I'd say removing previously played servers from the vote should be seriously considered, unless the game plays similarly that it makes no difference or the alternatives are unplayable or completely custom shit.
I'll be setting up polls and stuff for movie night tomorrow (to be held the day after). Was looking into having an edgy vidya movie theme going. We have the Doom movie in our backlog, and Silent Hill + Resident Evil (the first ones for each I'm guessing?) are two more that were suggested to set the tone.Let me know if there's any movie you'd like to suggest that could fit the theme, otherwise I can fill the extra slots with some from our Halloween / Sci-Fi backlog:
>>2452472That's what I'd want too. I'd want ECO and PSO to not be in the vote either as they're revisited.
>>2452817Not super edgy but The Sonic movie?
>>2452817The OG mortal kombat duology, bretty edgy, but also hella campyThe first saw mobie, maybe?

>>2391881MMOD anniversary game revisit poll: https://strawpoll.com/kogjR8jq2g6This is an elimination poll to cut the potential list of games down to 30 so we can fit them into a rcv123 poll. We'll run the proper polls to finalize the winners next week. I'm going to exclude ECO and PSU, as they were replayed last time.Vote for the games you'd like to play. There will be two winners as we'll revisit two different games over two weeks.>>2453997>>2454000ty, fixed.
>>2453979this will also be a good gauge for the most uninteresting games we've played so far, ones that people who experienced it and newfags alike don't care about.I'm predicting Siesta Online
Was there an alternate server for FlyFF if that wins? I remember people saying the one you guys played was awful but I wasn't there for it so I don't konw.
>>2454050FlyFF should have like a dozen servers to choose from.
>>2454050The supposed hate for Clockworks Flyff largely stems from it being the first real instance of us coming to grips with the divide between those who were fine with higher-than-average rates, versus those who preferred a more methodical experience. Most were fine with speeding past the earlier phases of The Grindâ„¢ and getting to see more of the game, but the Anon who were hoping for a slower, more exploratory burn /really/ didn't care for it. The latter's sour sentiments of such being quite loudly reflected in both the game's pop-up General, as well as the main MMOD threads at the time.As a private server for an infamously grindy KMMO, Clockworks was pretty solid. Raising-up alts to experiment with different classes was fairly quick, quite a lot of otherwise Cash Shop-only goods/services/items were available via the voting merchant NPC (similar to Iris Online to an extent), the server had an extensive wiki and database for those who liked to do research, etc.The downsides attributed to Clockworks Flyff in retrospect are largely shortcomings inherent to the version of the game it was running, rather than anything unique to that specific server (namely Dungeons being so annoyingly time-gated while simultaneously being critical for gear progression). That said, Clockworks Flyff is also dead-dead (along with many other Flyff servers which were around back then, due to the owners of the Flyff IP - Gala Lab - going on a culling spree about a year or-so ago), so we'd need to pick another one regardless were that title to be chosen for a revisit.
>>2454181how the fuck are you supposed to get anywhere in two weeks on a low rate korean mmorpg? how fucking unemployed are the complainers?
>>2454367Flyff took place very early on during this project's run, and was likely several Anon's first encounter with such a incredibly grind-heavy KMMO, resulting in some conflicting assumptions on how things would play out.The notion of wanting to experience an older KMMO "as intended" with near-1x rates is understandable in the abstract (for those with unlimited time at their disposal anyway), but very often doesn't align well with our strictly limited 2 to 3-week time limit for any given title. We've seen this come up as recently as Riders of Icarus just a couple of weeks ago, with one of its most-common complaints during its run being the sluggishness of progressing through the level climb past a certain point, even for those who stuck with it.When an MMO's pool of private servers is littered with choices sporting 15x, 30x, 100x, 150x the standard rates, as Flyff's certainly was back then, it's often a warning sign to heed rather than wishfully ignore.Of course, not every older MMO has the luxury of hosting multiple private servers to its name, and sometimes you just need to put-up with whatever obscure sever is still online for particularly-niche titles, even if they're running 1x rates.
>>2454050There are quite a few Flyff servers
>>2454181there is a guy that is chronically lonely and has no fulfillment in his lifehe can't stand that anyone levels faster than himand he only wants to do boring collect bear ass quests to levelhas a massive meltie if anyone levels faster than thim
>>2454013Surprised to see Uncharted Waters that high. It absolutely satisfies the adventure part but it's gotta be one of the slowest burns we played.
>>2455455It's nice to play a game where progression doesn't matter too much and you can just get in and play, even if the content is really basic. I really get turned off when the game becomes a race to catch up with the pack.
>>2455455For a few hours the poll gave a perfect representation of MMOD.Anime game vs Western game vs Pirates.
>>2455545MModventure loves pirates. I don't think any other puzzle game would win except Puzzle Pirates because pirates
>>2455653There are other puzzle MMOs? I'd vote for them. Google says there's an online Myst MMO we could try.
>>2454181Flyff was awful not because of the level grind, but because the advertised high-mid rates were actually a lie. All meaningful progression was tied to instanced dungeons with DAILY LIMITS with piss poor drop rates. Not only that but dungeons needed the holy trinity so you're basically fucked if the single tank actually geared enough was capped on runs (this happened and nearly birthed a schizo in the threads btw). Also did I mention you needed to lock levels and make alts to farm specific dungeons? On top of that layers and layers of excessive upgrade systems and item bloat that were clearly designed for oldfags who played their fix for the upteenth time and needed something else to chase "bigger numbers".This isn't the biggest flaw though, there's 0 need to actually FLY and explore the world because the best leveling spots were in a few uninspired cash shop maps where all the mobs were closely concentrated. Some of the songs were banger though.Give me Flyff with the original progress system and none of the dungeon lockout shit and I will be happy to revisit, but last time I checked none of the private servers run a patch prior to all the bullshit. Till then I shan't be voting Flyff.
>>2455765If I remember right it got taken off the list because of some playablility reason.

Very organic jump in dragon's nest votes. Don't question it.
>>2458037riggers have great taste
>Riders of Icarus - 1 vote>Ace Online - 3 votes
>>2458069Icarus understandably has recency bias working against it (and was generally not super well liked), whereas some votes probably went towards Ace because it was a very early pick several years ago and some people might be curious.Neither one would go well for a week-long return, granted.

>>2458037I bet it's our resident schizo who everyone laughed when we played it last.
>>2458494I remember going into those theaters with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Felt Silent Hill was one of the first actually decent VG movies.
>>2458211I was considering voting for Ace as a 'quick drop-in' kinda game that works well for the 1 week time limit. And then I remembered that it's basically just annoying fetch quests interspersed with getting demolished by paypigs and veterans in PvP events.
>>2458211I voted for it as a joke. I don't think I played it for more than 30 minutes.
>>2455653When I think of piracy and MMOs I always think of Archeage. Dunno if there are any private servers for it though, or how alive they might be.

>>2452099>>2451377>>2452055i'd really want to revisit dragon's dogma online or SMT Imagine. the former I only got to play 2 days before they banned VPNs and the latter's official server was so laggy for some reason that I never even got to understand what the game was. we playing on this server?https://wartale.com/
it's so close, puzzle pals!
>>2396681It was quite good early on, but it was ruined by the transition from pay to play to one of the most pay to win free to play games in history where you had the choice between quite literally paying thousands of dollars for the best weapon in game or grinding for 3 years worth of hours according to the math players did. And a few people did pay for that, because every time someone did it, it would be announced to the entire server.I heard updates made after I stopped playing so long ago made it even worse, e.g. it used to take months to reach the higher levels, but they made it so you quickly rush to end game content, so now you just grind the same stuff nonstop instead of getting anything new.
>>2460037Can I be a boogeyman?
