I briefly checked out Rebirth since its on the same launcher and I think we made the right choice choosing Thunderspy, in that theres stuff locked in the costume creator that you have to unlock in the game through merits and inventing or as holiday event rewards. Which is just like on live which they're trying to mimic, but would still limit us creatively and be annoying to do. Most of it is just the auras and Christmas and Halloween stuff though. They do have their own custom outfits too that Thunderspy doesn't have like pic related, but no broken body sliders it seems.

Also 21 online compared to 15 online Thunderspy (and 9 of which is us), though Homecoming still mogs them with 1292 Players Online. Both Thunderspy and Rebirth really deserve more IMO because they actually added stuff.
>>
>>2737605
Can you show us the limitations of the Homecoming sliders?
>>
>>2737658
That would mean I'd have to download homecoming.

>>
Praetoria thoughts
>Pretty interesting story and the most interesting thing going on in CoH story wise
>There are four directions the story can go that lead you into different missions. Loyalist (Good), Loyalist (Evil), Resistance (Good), Resistance (Evil)
>You can tell the expansion came out in the late 2000s as it has the late 2000s classic of gathering quests.
>Also you can tell they got someone in to do reflections or discovered how to do them or something like that because Praetoria is reflection mania. Giant window and glass heavy skyscrapers, brass everywhere, big gold statues, most of the missions are in the tunnel system which has puddles of water that reflect or they're in a lab full of reflecting metal, theres a park with a big lake in the middle of the park. Its all very "Look at our reflection graphics"
>The park areas are comfy.

Even worse. Its French.
>Geographically, the Rogue Isles are a small chain of islands NW of Bermuda that run in a band 50 to 20 miles off the coast of the US. Officially known as the Etoile Islands, there are dozens of islands in the chain. The main cluster of the group, home to Spider City, is at the 50 mile marker, outside US. jurisdiction. From there the smaller islands string toward the US coast.
>During the French & Indian War period, the islands became home to a number of settlers. At first, the French used the islands to house prisoners or for barracks for their soldiers and sailors. By 1756, thousands of settlers fleeing both Europe and the Americas came to the island to avoid the French and Indian / Seven Years War.
>A decade later, the people of the Rogue Isles rebelled and claimed independence. In a move that stunned the French authorities, the Rogue Islanders signed a treaty of protection with England and effectively ended France’s claim.
>With England as their original protector but French blood in their veins, the islands essentially became neutral, making whatever deal or agreement best left them to their own devices.

Maybe choosing villains was a mistake, been also playing a Hero alt and it seems like Heroes get way more content
>>
>>2739275
Well when the game was first released there wasn't even villains, City of Villains was effectively expansion content.

Also yeah they get fire fighting missions and stuff. Content is heavily skewed towards heroes as on live they were far more popular than villains. Its the Alliance/Horde divide thing.
>>
>>2739296
The mistake was making the game hard segmented so CoV could be a standalone expansion. They should have just had heroes and villains play in the same zones. Which is what they eventually did with all the latter content.
>>
>>2739047

I have mixed feelings about Thunderspy’s costume design system, on one hand I like that it’s very free and allows for a ton of options, but I feel it would be more rewarding to unlock options as you level so you can visually see your progress.
>>
>>2740044
Even with less choice, you'd still spend hours making your character, based around a theme that fits what you can pick. Then, you wouldn't update the design with the stuff you unlock, because they don't fit, you're attached to what you have, and you're gonna unlock even more parts anyway.
I think having everything from the start is for the best.

DCUO is a very different unlock system. CoH only had a few pieces locked behind achievements and recipes (plus capes and auras), while basically all the cosmetics in DCUO are gated behind random equipment drops.

a bit off topic, but why do you think ncsoft granted homecoming a license for
>free
and only for homecoming but not the dozen of failed ncsoft games?
is it because they already had the server files?
>>
>>2740222
My theory is that it must be some kind of experiment for them to gauge interest in their shut down games and if something can be gained by reviving them. By giving homecoming a license, they basically get someone to do all the work for them for free. Especially since they already had it up and functional anyway. Otherwise, I don't know what they stand to gain from this arrangement. They don't seem like the kind of company that would do something "for the fans" without benefiting in someway.

>They don't seem like the kind of company that would do something "for the fans" without benefiting in someway.
I thought a company as big as ncsoft would've avoided these situations, even if there was something to gain.
granting a license is always a risk, and with a net income in the hundreds of millions each year, why would they bother, even if someone offered them $1 million for it?

I very much hope so because I would also like to go back to Wildstar. I didn't play it much when it came out because I had a lot going on at the time and nobody I knew was playing it, but I really enjoyed how good the movement felt and the soundtrack is amazing. Unfortunately though, it looks like the private server scene is going nowhere. All I am finding is "sandbox" servers that have a couple zones at best, and I think people have been trying to get one going for a long time now.

>>2740492
Some kind of social clique discord drama happened with the Homecoming server. Also Thunderspy is considered a 4chan server for some reason, I think it used to have a general. I dont know the history, if anyone does I would be interested to see it.
>>
>>2740044
Rebirth still has that >>2737605 as did Live. I didn't play either so I dunno what it was like, but I assume it feels more annoying that rewarding.
>>
>>2739275
Well I did say way back during voting that heroes would be best in terms of getting a grasp of what the game is like. But 4chan, edgy, etc. Always has to pick the "other" group, the dark group etc. I think every /mmod/ faction choice has always been the dark one, edgy one, evil one and stuff.
>>
>>2740533
the last time we had to choose a faction was Nin and we were in the leaf village...
>>
Is anyone playing as a hero? It seems less trans
>>
>>2740131
>Maybe at least unlocking more alt-costume slots or something
It does that.

I guess the game's way of showing growth, though its not really a big thing, is through the titles you can get for your name, and through badges.

>>
>>2740617
He is upset at the number of female characters and that frustrates his homosexual desires.
>>
>>2740222
the simple answer is they didn't and Homecoming is just continuing to lie as they lied for 10 years after the shutdown
>>
>>2740222
>>2740315
Because they genuinely don't care. The reason they shut down the game is because they just outright came out and said that they don't care. And they're never gonna reopen it, they're never gonna license it. "Muh NCsoft cracking down on us" was always just a boogeyman reason for the secret server to stay secret. If they ever were gonna do that they'd have shut down the non-licensed private servers years ago when HC Got licensed. The license is just Homecoming's attempt to flex really.

If you want me to go a bit schizo theorist, I think that Homecoming was hoping that NCSoft would shut down the other private servers as they clearly dislike the others and look down on them. This is pretty obvious by their stonewalling and non co-operativeness when it comes to them. When they first got the license they kept posting a bunch of vague threats in their posts like "We can't shut down the other servers, we have no power to so, but there is a possibility NCSoft may react badly to the non-licensed servers" or stuff like "If they wanna get a license too thats up to them, I'd recommend it before NCSoft act" things like that. The most frequent one I saw for a good few months was "We aren't responsible with what happens to the other servers going forward due to this."

They even had that bizarre "protection" program that was like some Mafia-esque form of "protecting your business" called the City Council where if you joined it you'd be "protected" by them and only Victory fell for it, which was soon integrated into Homecoming.

I think they've repeated the boogeyman of "Evil NCSoft will shut us down" and "The NCSoft talks" for so long that they actually started to believe it and thought it would happen. Its now years later and its very safe to say, NCSoft do not give a single shit about City of Heroes or what happens to it. "The talks" probably took so long because it was NCsoft's lowest priority, bottom of their email pile. NCSoft just don't care.
>>

Wasnt there a Wildstar revival project for a while? I remember hearing something about a revival project or private server
>>
>>2740563
I thought it was cool to have to do a little mission to unlock capes and auras on live but maybe that'd be unpopular today. Villains had to steal one from a hero to earn the right to wear one.
>>
>>2740540
All Nin factions were edgy factions
>>
>>2740629
One thing I wish they'd do, and I think should be unlockables, are base items. It would be cool to have little mementos from the big missions you can add to your base like a museum. Or like if you beat a big hero like Positron, you get Positron's helmet memento as a base item you can put down.
>>
>>2740492
>We were worried Homecoming would crack down on us and ban us. If you've seen our hero ideas and the type of stuff we play. They probably would have.
>Rebirth seems to be the one that tries to be as accurate replication of the live server as possible. This meant less QoL and all the grind/unlocks that came with it. As we'd never played before, we didn't know how grindy CoH would be, and since its an MMO from the early 2000s, we just assumed grindy
>Union was mostly non English speakers
>That left Thunderspy, which the drawback was low population but customizable mastermind pets seemed cool. Its 4chan origins would mean no banning our silly characters, and the exp had been boosted 1.5x
>>

Having to fully unlock capes sounds random, pointless and lame so I'm glad they got rid of it, but the idea is cool. I think a better idea for it is you unlock a cape costume piece, rather than fully unlock having capes.

Big day for Blaster mains on Thunderspy, as all of their Primary and Secondary Blaster-exclusive powers no longer root you in place when using them, unlike every other Archetype's powers in the game. Unless I'm reading the patch notes wrong, which is entirely possible.
This finally allows the frailest and arguably most team-reliant Archetype to actually perform hit-and-run tactics when necessary, gaining some degree of survivability in fights against melee enemies. Blaster has apparently been in the "do not touch" category for soloists on Thunderspy for a while now, due to their sheer lack of defenses and utility not pairing well with being the center of attention in spite of their high damage, so hopefully these changes make the times where you're solo on Blaster more bearable as a result.

Cool to see the devs of this server taking some real swings towards shoring-up some of the more-glaring issues from the game's class roster. It's not something you often see on the wider private server circuit in general...!

What's the difference between mutation and science? These 2 origins seem to blur together.
I assume the former is you just get superpowers by complete chance, and the latter is like getting your powers from a super serum.
>>
Also what would be the lore for a character with innate origin who can do things like throw fireballs?
He's just using homemade incendiary bombs?
>>
>>2745097
Pretty much. Mutation is just Mutants from Marvel.
Mutation = X-Men
Science = Spider-Man, Captain America, Hulk.

>>2745106
If he makes the bombs himself then tech. If he buys them, then natural.

Origins are moreso a prompt for personal interpretation in building your character's backstory/lore, since all of them have the same stat modifiers for their respective Single Origin and Dual Origin enhancements, so whatever makes sense to (You) is what fits best. Which is a cop-out answer, sure, but also accurate.

To me, superpowers gained through Science encompass chemical pursuits or projects which are blatantly dangerous at their core.
The ace chemist who put his life on the line in testing a promising cure for cancer, only to develop toxic spines all over his body and be exiled from the company he worked for out of corporate embarrassment, sending him on the villainous path to seek revenge against his former colleagues. Bio-engineers working on creating a new breed of supersoldier in some top-secret lab somewhere, with hundreds of failed experiments littering the halls until they finally succeeded in creating (You). Et cetera.

Superpowers through Mutation, meanwhile, either occur by pure genetic happenstance (guess who's spontaneously conjuring fire around them and accidentally burning their house down for their 15th birthday), or from outside circumstance befalling largely innocent individuals and dramatically altering their DNA in highly plot-relevant ways. But you're totally not one of Charles Xavier's recruits, absolutely not.

Is it possible to make a cloak like pic related?
It seems the character creator only supports regular symmetrical capes.
>>
>>2745492
Cool concept. I wish there was a Gambit power set. I'd like to think if CoH stayed around they'd eventually do that. I know theres the tarot card power from merit vendors but that doesn't count.
>>
>>2744045
It's not ALL of them, just the first two powers per set
>>
>>2745507
There's an over the shoulder mantle, but it's not quite the same vibe
>>
>>2745507
Not really, there's a couple of scarf options in shoulders and Detail 2 head menu and you can combine those with the capes but it won't look like that poncho.
>>
>>2745629
They were pumping out tons of power sets post f2p (because they were selling them as separate mtx from the sub at that point really milking the game) so they probably would have gotten to a thrown weapons set with swappable projectile skins.
>>
>>2745106
Super Man would be a Natural Hero. It just means your powers are natural to you.
>>
>>2745648
Yeah if you select a Peacebringer or Warshade it defaults to Natural and you can't change it, and they're aliens so Superman would be the same. IMO I always thought they should have had a cosmic origin too. For characters like Superman types, Martian Manhunter etc. But then also people powered by cosmic energies like Captain Marvel, or people with alien artifacts like Green Lantern.
>>
>>2745643
IMO City of Heroes was a "die a hero" case because I think it would have lived long enough to become a villain as their F2P method was full of nickle and diming, it just was never around long enough to get as bad as it could have been.
>>
>>2745668
Warshades are science I believe, the lore is something like peacebringers consensually merge with other life forms to keep living and war shades instead just steal and extract their energy with their space science, or at least the Nictus do, warhades are reformed dindu nuffins.

>4chan's Bizarre MMOdventure is an ongoing project from a group of anons dedicated to playing through dead MMOs.

A dead server of a dead game is very fitting of the project ethos. A 1000+ pop server not so much. Its why the likes of Everquest private servers dont count in the polls.

I think part of it is they have the reputation of "the 4chan server" due to its founders and thats a hard stain to wipe off.

Then again Rebirth only has 31 players online compared to Thunderspy's 24. So maybe its not that, as Rebirth doesnt have that reputation. Maybe Homecoming just has too much of an iron grip population wise.
>>
>>2747209
>>2747174
Sometimes I'll be playing and I see general or looking for group pop off with something like
>"Hello?"
>"Anyone there?"
>"Anyone doing anything? Any groups going?"
And I feel bad.
>>
>>2747215
You gotta not count us though, as we're only temporary and there's 9 of us online right now as of this message. So there's 15 others online, and probably 5 of them are lingering around from having just come on for the raid and decided to stick around for half an hour or so.

So even Rebirth has double what Thunderspy has.
>>
>>2747215
>Maybe Homecoming just has too much of an iron grip population wise.
"THE officially licensed private server™" does have an effect on people's perception. Hell, I don't recall any other instance of a private server getting the blessings of the game's original owners instead of being hit by a c&d (looking at you, blizzard).
>>
>>2747240
I think Project 99 for Everquest has its blessing.
>>
>>2747240
If I was just some guy interested in getting into CoH and I had never heard of the drama I would 100% go for the one that has a legal license. That means that there is no chance that the sever will get shut down by the original owners and wipe my character.
>>
File: 1604786521582.jpg (66 KB, 720x720)
66 KB JPG
>>2747240
>>2747384
It's also worth stating that being the first private server to court a game's given audience is often more important than actually being a good server in its own right, especially when official options have been shut down. Mops-up most, if not all, of the playing population interested in that specific MMO, leaving other servers with table scraps.

Tends to suck in a major way for the players of these MMOs, as those initial private servers are seldom ever the best option when competition comes around. Yet by the time said competition arrives in the form of other, often better-realized private servers, learning from the mistakes of what came before, the overwhelming majority of that game's playerbase has already become too entrenched on that initial private server to bother considering alternatives.
All of their progress, effort, and friends are there, and newcomers obviously wouldn't want to commit time to a new private server with seemingly nobody playing it, so the already-large server becomes even larger solely through existing momentum, etc.

It's honestly pretty annoying to see older, well-established private servers resting on their laurels and doing absolutely nothing to continue developing or refining the MMO they've effectively inherited, or make decisions which are near-unanimously disliked with little consequence. Meanwhile servers with barely ~15-30 people on them push their game in new and interesting directions for basically no return.
This doesn't pertain to just CoX specifically, seen it happen for a variety of older MMOs over the years.
>>
>>2746549
That was a common complaint at launch, they spent some time adding more "evil scheme" storylines as time went on
>>
>>2747384
I think thats the thing, a lot of people, specifically on here, but on Reddit too vastly over estimate the amount of people that give a fuck about the private server drama or any of Homecoming's inter-server dramas. Its just not a big deal to them, or they don't know and wish to know as it doesn't sound interesting, or they just don't care. It only really matters to those deep in the CoH community and know the ins and outs and history of it and are part of the other private servers outside of homecoming.

If I was just a random casual who wanted to try out City of Heroes because "Oh I heard about this game back in the 2000s" I'd go for Homecoming too simply because of the license too and also because its the most populated one.

They're just always gonna be dominant because its that cycle of
>Most popular server
>"Oh I'll join that one then as it has the most people"
>Server stays popular

Not blaster because they are fragile. Mastermind seems to have that problem too because minions don't seem very good at tanking for you. At least not my merc minions. the Going Rogue questline ended pretty abruptly. There wasn't a climax or anything, just "okay you are level 20 time to go". I thought I was going to at least get to meet Emperor Cole. Other than that, Praetoria was way better than the zones for both heroes and villains in terms of the quest experience.

I liked the the way they framed the faction chose. If you pick hero, you are going to warn the heroes about the impending extra dimensional invasion. If you pick villain, it is framed as you still siding with Cole. The Arachnos spymaster is waiting for you and knows what you are there for, but he is betting that you are too much of a selfish asshole to not just do your own thing now that you are beyond Cole's scrutiny.

you need to be a not-hero to join our villain supergroup.
you could ask Rogues among us (there's a few) to team up with you and do alignment-change missions, but it might take some time.
it's 10 missions with a few (3-4, not sure) hour break in the middle, because you can only do 5 at a time and then have to wait for "fame" to drop. then a longer morality mission to change your alignment to vigilante.

Endgame stuff mostly requires a team, but the single player Incarnate content can be pretty cool. Just do First Ward and Night Ward before you do Dark Astoria
>>
It feels like the leveling curve gets bad around like level 12-16ish, somewhere in that range. There's this period where XP slows down, and you've just started getting AoE attacks and being able to handle large mobs, so you pump up the notoriety a bit. But your actual damage, survivability, and AoE aren't that high yet, so even though you're leveling at a decent clip, it feels like a massive slog.
>>
>>2760399
Nah. You just get substantially more rewards by playing in a team and against higher difficulty modifiers. If you were playing in a 8 man party you would get to lvl 50 in like a day easily.
>>
>>2760531
>If you were playing in a 8 man party you would get to lvl 50 in like a day easily.
That's a pretty big exaggeration, unless you're in a highly optimized group which is spamming stages with +4/x8 on all day without issue, or something.
Either way, teaming up with other people is still considerably faster than playing solo, yes. More fun as well, so it really does benefit anyone in the SG to join-up with others. Especially since Thunderspy's population will return to being near-nonexistent once we leave, so we might as well take advantage of this game's party dynamics while they last.

+1 week!
To mark our unexpected time extension (third time ever in MMOD history), here's a few tips on Enhancements as we move into the midgame/lategame leveling bracket (or possibly start fresh on the Heroes side come Saturday/Sunday, whichever one works):

>Enhancement bonuses suffer sharp diminishing returns after 90%.
While you CAN still continue to improve just a single stat for any given power past 90%, you're much better off diversifying your enhancement setup for any given power after slotting-in three single-stat enhancements (or even just two of them later on).

>Defense (not Damage Resistance) caps at 40%, spread across both Enhancements and Powers.
Defense is generally harder to directly influence, so reaching this cap comes easier for certain Archetypes than others, with Tankers obviously reaching it the earliest across the four melee classes.

>All Powers targeting the enemy in some way must roll an Accuracy check.
This includes debuffs as well, so even for powers which are solely used for CC/debuffing, you'll still want to slap at least one +Accuracy% enhancement on them to better their chances of connecting with their target(s).

>Don't neglect your Endurance Discount enhancements when leveling.
Energy management pre-50 can be rather rough, so be sure to slot an +Endurance Discount% enhancement into your most commonly-used and/or resource-intensive Powers to prevent yourself from running dry during battle. You can also commit a spare bonus slot to both Health and Stamina to further alleviate the issue (although you generally don't do this at level 50).

>"Generic" enhancements made from crafting stations are very good pre-50.
These include everything outside of the "Invention" folder when viewing a crafting station. Crafted generics have slightly higher-than-average base stat at the cost of not being included in any Set Bonuses (which doesn't matter if you aren't making Invention sets).
>>
>>2760672
Any tips regarding enchancs for Minions skills? Seems they only benefit from damage buffs?

Two addendums:

1) While you typically don't bother with many IOs while leveling due to Reward Merits being a precious resource (and eventually outleveling them if purchased at a low level), some of them are still quite useful to make somewhere in your 30s all the same.

[Health]
- Numina's Convalescence: Regeneration/Recovery
- Miracle: Recovery
- Panacea: Chance for +Hit Points/Endurance (this one's only found at the Auction House or through Alignment Vendors. It's technically the best self-sustain for HP, but it's also seeded at 10mil Inf via the AH, so don't stress over it early on).

[Stamina]
- Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance

2) For the aspiring tanks in the audience, damage type resistance only counts whatever the HIGHEST resistance the player currently has when blocking an attack, not an additive total of all defenses.
For example, if you're hit with Fire-type Ranged attack, a player with 20% Ranged Defense and 25% Fire Defense will still only receive -25% damage reduction from the hit, rather than -45%.
Sounds rough, but Tankers/Brutes typically have Primary/Secondary powersets which cover all damage types fairly well, outside of one or two specific weaknesses depending on the powerset (Electric Armor being weak against Energy-drain, etc).

>>2760685
Minions/Pets inherit the properties of nearly any Enhancements they qualify for barring Cooldown Reduction, even if the most-visible effect is indeed Damage%.
This means you'll still want to put one (or two but that's usually overkill) +Accuracy% on them to assure they actually connect with their shots, and if you're using them more for CC than damage, anything pertaining to that minion's respective mezzing abilities (Hold%, Fear%, Immobilize%, etc).

I'll reiterate that Cooldown Reduction% when slotted into minions/summons only applies to YOUR cooldown for re-summoning them, not the internal cooldown of your pets' abilities. Can't change those, unfortunately.
>>
File: 94534570_p0.jpg (206 KB, 595x842)
206 KB JPG
>>2760685
One last thing: There ARE a few minion-related powers which have "inert" enhancement slots solely used for Set Bonuses at level cap, and do not affect the output of summons whatsoever.
This is always clearly stated in the power's tooltip, and there are very few of them in the game, with most (if not all?) of them being on Mastermind. [Equip Mercenary], [Train Ninja], [Enchant Demon], etc.
>>
>>2760719
Yeah, I never understood those passive skills, should I not touch them at all and never increase their slots? Also what are set bonuses? Do some enchances dropped by dungeons have a matching pair or something? And they work by comparing your whole power pool or you need to have the matching set inside your power?
>>
>>2760711
You're mixing up defense and resistance.
>>
File: IO Example.png (298 KB, 3000x625)
298 KB PNG
>>2760734
>those passive skills
Grabbing those passives is generally worth it as a Mastermind, just don't add any enhancement slots to them (for now).

>What are set bonuses?
Set Bonuses come from "IOs", Invention Origin enhancements. These must be crafted, and their recipes are either found from slaying enemies, or purchased directly through various merchant NPCs (Reward Merits, Alignment Merits, etc) plus the Auction House.
The AH is basically another NPC merchant of sorts on Thunderspy, as most IO recipes on there are seeded by the server to cost 2.5-10mil Inf (since it's not like any actual players are around to sell them).

Every category of IO consists of 3-6 different enhancements providing multiple stat bonuses in a single slot, albeit at lower raw amounts for each stat compared to SOs or generics.
Some individual enhancements of an IO Set provide on-proc effects which do not scale with level, meaning they're always the same effectiveness regardless of when you make them (hence why the Health and Stamina IOs recommended above are all on-proc effects).
The more of a single category of IO you have attached to a single Power at once, the more its Set Bonus effects come into play. These are usually minor benefits, but really start to add-up over time at level 50, when nearly your entire enhancement deck is nothing but IOs (barring things like Swift, Hurdle, and utility Powers with extremely long cooldowns which can benefit from -CDR% generics even at level 50, such as Hasten).

Some IOs are still made to act as standalone enhancements at level 50 rather than completing (or partially-completing) a set, such as Luck of the Gambler's incredibly useful +Defense/+Global(!) Recharge bonus on its 6/6 piece, with multiple copies used across various utilities and passives which don't need enhancements to be effective.

After playing a bit of hero yesterday and the day before I did get bluesidepilled in that the content does seem to have more focus and effort put into it. Paragon City is far more brighter and varied than Rogue Isles where every map except Grandville just looks homeless, which that kind of map is a good idea for a villain area just not every map.

They also seemed to get far more story and cut scenes, the Skulls mission line in Kings Row has lots of cut scenes. They add cool little things where if you kill the boss, the minions all stand down and run out the door, you can fight fires, there are jailbreaks in the zones, there are more giant monsters, there just seems to be more effort added onto it.

Villain shenanigans are more fun though so it has that over it. Its just I wish they had more heroic groups that you fight rather than other villains, thats another thing, heroes get more group variation.

I understand why though in that I'm sure on live heroes far outnumbered the villains and so thats who you should focus your content on. Also I learned that villains were effectively expansion content.
>>
>>2760672
>Defense caps at 40%
Note that the 40% is a SOFT cap. Enemies have a base 50% chance to hit you with a minimum of 10%. If your defense is only 40% and enemies have a defense reducing attack they can easily bring that back to normal. Defense also double dips between positionals and types. It'll check the position of the attack (AoE, Melee, Ranged) then another pass with type (i.e. Lethal). After that it'll determine what chance the enemy has to hit you. Some special damage types have their own defense attribute, such as toxic damage, that don't have a type check and only go off of positionals.

A bite-sized 'shoot for today's proceedings, as this isn't yet farewell to our stay in these tumultuous lands, is it now?
What started as just a quick photo or two at Arachnos HQ turned into more of a proper gathering, spinning-out to seven photos in total across four locales. Don't worry, our usual avalanche of photowork will occur after the Week 3 Photoshoot - the third-ever instance of such across MMOD history...!

Despite this being a rather small series of 'shots, I'll still follow my usual batch-uploading rules with these. No flavor text unless necessary 'til the final upload of a set, posts sequentially labeled, et cetera.
Only two alt-takes in this small stack, so pick-and-choose your preference between them once they show up. Minor posing/lighting differences between each.

With that, lettuce begin.

Ending on the final alt - would say the lighting is a bit better with this one.

And thus, my time as an out-and-out Villain comes to a close, at least officially. Rogues have it far better anyway, sidestepping the frustrating politics and bureaucracies of Arachnos altogether. Their beloved "Grandville" isn't even very grand, it's just garish.
Some may choose to stay behind and continue their villainous pursuits, but I'm personally quite keen on seeing how the other side lives later this evening. 'Til then!

Seems quite a few of us are waiting for the right people to come online. Already stumbled across three or four of us hanging around Atlas Park, in-between soloing the earliest of starter missions.
If anyone with invite permissions for the Hero SG is around, toss one to Gigas when (You) get the chance.
>>
Man, it sucks that I missed most of this, I haven't even cleared the early villain content..

I still gonna stick to villain, ain't even level 50

Kinda cool how the pretoria questline basically forces you to interact with both factions, you can solve the issues by being a blind retard.

Also, look at my reformed wife!

It was because our Proxmox VM likes to lockup after restarts. And it's not a full lockup either, it's like Windows is still running and you can click, but nothing will open.

It happens consistently after ~30 minutes on the first reboot to the point that we may as well extend the maintenance window, but people will login as soon as the server is up without us giving the go-ahead.
>>
>>2769018
Is there no way to fix that? Little confusing problems like that make this server look pretty rough.
It not, then delaying the update itself until you confirm the server works properly might be a good bandaid.

Titan weapons suck ass so much, every single attack has a +2 sc animation delay, it's so fucking slow.

Do they at least do an ungodly amount of damage?

Titan weapons has a momentum mechanic that speeds up attacks. It's actually one of the better sets once you can utilize that. Before that? Absolute ass to play.

That Cathedral of Pain event was pretty fun.
I never played MMOs much nor went of big raids so seeing a few dozen players for a single mission was a pretty special moment for me.
>>
>>2774657
No, there's another one below it called Organic Armor that says it can't be picked no matter what combination of powersets/archetype I try
>>
>>2774680
It's a bit disappointing that the locals dont seem to be running the other raids very often, the cathedral of pain is just so short when doing it with all the decked out lvl 50 players. The other raid that they hosted on our first weekend was a much longer affair and pretty fun to experience.
>>
>>2774946
After tonights raid they started running an AE party. We did a lot of different custom maps with very tough enemies that gave a lot of experience.
>>
