4chan's Bizarre MMOdventure is an ongoing project from a group of anons dedicated to playing through dead MMOs.
>How does it work?
Hold a ranked choice poll from a list of games.
Play the game that wins the final round of votes for 2 weeks.
After each game, we alternate lists of MMOs to vote on.
Guild photos will take place every Saturday, check thread for pic times.
New game starts every other Saturday, after the week 2 guild pic.

Feel free to recommend more games to be added to the lists and to encourage people to vote on a game you want to play.

kinda wish i found out about /mmod/ earlier.
and by earlier i mean at day 1

I wanted to play Wonderland Online.

If you had then you would have just wasted more of your life playing bad MMOs for dozens of hours a week. It's better than playing the same MMO for dozens of hours a week or Mihoyo games, or gacha, but only marginally.

>>2719724
I haven’t played MMOs in years but I miss the era of wow clones. they sucked but the launch window was fun most of the time.
I guess that feeling is what I’m missing the most

oh the project hates wow clones, its much more of a kmmo fan vibe

did /mmod/ ever get around to project gorgon? rediscovered it recently and was surprised at how much stuff they added over the years and that its still even going pretty strong

well, it's not a dead mmo.

This. I do feel like a lot of project members want to go into known MMOs and have a red carpet laid for them. I miss when we were schizo and gatekeepy ourselves.

have to agree with you both anon. mmodventure is supposed to be discovering this shit on our own not someone with 1000 hours telling us how to play the game optimally and guiding us. nothing makes me want to uninstall one of these mmos faster
>>
>>2722060
>I do feel like a lot of project members want to go into known MMOs and have a red carpet laid for them.

I don't, seems like most people get annoyed when they start getting guided. If they ask questions on their own its different but a lot dont wanna seem to be insta shown max level content.
>>
>>2721910
>>2722051
>>2722006
this was always going to get co-opted into a /coxg/ revival. this is why the project was supposed to go for obscure niche shit and not step on titles with legacy generals
>>
>>2722084
I am referring to posts that wanted Thunderspy because their discord looked "welcoming". The pre-vetting of server communities that are excited to guide-guy is pretty lame
>>
Is this guy talking to himself for the last hour or what?
>>
>>2722117
yup, everyone is the same person and they're all me. that is definitely what's happening.
>>
>>2722088
Well thats not happening, because while I like the game, I'm not sticking around afterwards and I assume same with everyone else. After two weeks I'm gone. IMO titles with legacy generals can use us all they want its not gonna work due to the nature of the project in that we move on.

Also whenever I see any of the old drama brought up, my eyes glaze over and I skip it because I don't give a fuck. Its a two week stay so I don't give a fuck what happened five years ago. That /v/ thread was like 90% skip worthy.
>>
>>2722238
Pretty much this. People can stay behind and keep playing if they want to but it's usually 1 or 2 at most. The spam about this server or that server is the best and the other is literal satan is annoying but I just scroll past it. I just hope we don't pick up any of the schizos as permanent residents even though they don't play the game like other generals get.
>>
>>2720492
Broken Ranks looks awful. We should play it.
>>
>>2722341
thats the one I voted for in 1st place because I saw it was turn based
>>
>>2722238
What they're after is the /v/ thread that brings a bunch of attention snd legitimacy to the game. The MMOD regulars aren't who they're after. They're after first or second-timers who see the /v/ thread and choose to stick with the game's community over the MMOD community.
>>
>>2722238
>>2722293
>I just hope we don't pick up any of the schizos as permanent residents even though they don't play the game like other generals get.
This is the main concern and what sets one off is entirely unpredictable. judging by the state of the CoH thread best play with extreme caution.
>>2722349
I did see some attempts at discord recruitment yeah.
>>
>>2722293
We already have some, they can go in the pile with the rest. But yeah if this is an attempt to revive a general, by CoH or any of the games we played like Nin or whatever, its a bad idea. After 2 weeks the thread dies unless you're D&D online and Toontown it seems.
>>
>>2722341
It looks cool graphically.
>>
>>2722351
Well I did warn during voting the main drawback for CoH will be thread schizos and console war autism
>>
>>2722341
I played this when it came out and I confirm it's awful, I don't think there's even any value in a "so bad it's good" kind of way, it's just dogshit.

>After 2 weeks the thread dies unless you're D&D online and Toontown it seems.
Spiral Knights' thread lasted for close to three months before hitting the bump limit and falling off page 10 yesterday, so we do occasionally stumble onto a game which has longer legs than anticipated.
On the notion of lingering schizos, there are definitely certain MMOs in which it would be strongly advised to NOT link back to MMOD if we ever made pop-up threads for them, although most are too well-known to qualify for the project anyway (FFXI, PSO2, etc, etc).
It's always a roll of the dice to see whether creating a thread for any given game conjures-up decade old mental illness to rise from the black morass that is this website in [current year]. We've mostly been lucky in avoiding much of it clinging to the main MMOD thread so far, outside of some fairly obvious (and likely sockpuppeted) trolling every now and then.

>Spiral Knights' thread lasted for close to three months before hitting the bump limit and falling off page 10 yesterday, so we do occasionally stumble onto a game which has longer legs than anticipated.
The MMOdventure Spiral Knights thread actually already hit the bump limit in April. The thread that hit bump limit recently was a second Spiral Knights thread.
To be fair this was a special case where the MMOdventure happened to coincide with the Spiral Knights devs coming back and updating the game again in a mini revival. Truly dead MMOs don't have lasting threads.
>>
>>2722985
You can play with us still just let players naturally discover things even if it will be bad for them or hinder progress. Players want to learn by doing not being told what to do or what is optimal
>>
I vote for DK Online because it sounds like Donkey Kong online even though I know it won't be.
>>
>>2722985
>I skip games that I've played before so I don't ruin it for the fresh eyes.
I just don't guide, unless someone really wants a question answer.
>>
>>2722985
Me and I think most anons are just winging it, but I agree that the guides can get annoying...
>>
>>2723992
I don't mind guides when it comes to informing the decision making process e.g. the guide on alignment and server choice for CoH but when it comes to in game I'm very much a "Leave me be to discover" sort of thing and only gets really annoying in we start getting powerlevelled or high level stuff.

However I understand it comes from a good place. It's just someone being really excited that we're playing their fave game and they want to show us the best parts in case we don't get to it. So I understand there's no malice.

Same with community members discovering us or devs, I don't mind that happening, in fact I think its quite novel and fun when they discover us and embrace us, and pretty cool when devs take our feedback like Nin. Just don't interfere in the gameplay really.

Also I do agree it is starting to happen too much nowadays. This must be like the fifth game its happened this year?
>>
>>2722985
Very punishing games like Dark Ages or Nin do require "some" intervention because these games expects you to either interact with the community to learn or spend hours reading through batches of information prior to logging in. Old games are usually lacking on key information, so an already awful experience will only get worse for you if you don't know anything about it. Like many old mmorpgs, these games are built for you to make mistakes and waste your time but our time slot of two weeks goes against that.
>>
>>2724080
It's coming from a good place but they also got to know that when they first started playing they probably didnt have the same help and had to learn to do shit on their own or ask somebody
>>2724222
puzzle pirates anon was the only guide that was necessary in my opinion because we would have been stuck doing jobs for randoms the entire 1st week which a lot of us did anyways when there werent enough crew members on but it was nice to have our own ship when there was enough to man them
>>
>>2724367
Yeah, Puzzle pirates does falls into that category, too. In Dark Ages, a singular incorrect stat placement would automatically hinder your progress past Lvl 30 because you would be short on Health to tank magic thrown at you from across the map, or your damage would be significantly lower due to how the growth system works, where early stat placement multiplies the amount you receive per level. On Nin, simple mistakes like completing early missions will max out your mission count for the day forcing you to grind on monsters that give little to no experience simply because you didn't knew that holding off for 3~ levels will give you better missions to reach a threshold to start mini missions, then an story arc.
>>
>>2720133
isn't it b2p?
>>
>>2720492
What servers are there for Rohan? The official(?) playrohan one felt like borderline malware when I tried it.

It would be a cool game if there were a classic-type old version of the game server but the modern one will probably suck like all long running servers of mmorpgs.
>>
>>2724222
No, if a punishing game is punishing then that should be part of the experience
>>
Priston Tale bros.. every time...
>>
>>2724739
I was pro priston but I don't know if it would work well here, they implemented level downscaling in pristontale.eu but even then, how often would people here be online at the same time to grind in a party? The early levels are pretty fast with the quest system they added too, maybe around 40 or so it would stabilize

>>

I only vote for it in my top tier because it sounds like Prison Tale which I find funny. I think thats a legit reason.
>>
>>2725667
Any reason is a good reason, hell, I'd love to give prison tale a shot...but..why didn't you vote for it if you want it to have a shot?
>>
Would the project have worked better if it were entirely random what game is picked from the grab bag each round?
>>
>>2725932
As of right now I am more interested in Aion, then it was Defiance, then Priston.
>>
>>2725940
hard to say. with the voting, we frontloaded a lot of the popular shit that ended up successful on /v/ since people voted for it because it's the only game on the list they recognize.
feels like this way we got a bit more
>traction
in the end. I wouldn't mind playing purely randomly chosen games, but some people might have just not bothered if a really shitty game wins the random roll.

It might be a good idea to eventually switch over to a random roll so we're not left with all the shit that nobody wants to play.
>>
>>2725940
absolutely, i just find it easier to be upset at people who pick what i don't like than being upset at rng, or something like that
>>
>>2725940
I like the arguing and shilling and drama caused by voting. it's fun
>>
>>2725940
was suggested a few times but there was a good batch of games people were excited for that of course brought more people and thread activity. I remember voting progress being hidden once and the threads actually tanked along with it.
it does make a difference but I see going random in the future due to sheer unknown-ness of the games
>>
It would be cool to do a chance pick one time a year or so.
>>
>>2725940
To add on what others already have said, voting can solve the issue of playing too much of the same mmo.
It's good to be able to vote to force some kind of variety
>>
>>2725940
I vote for not known games after playing a popular one because I feel like the popular ones need to be spaced out. We have a load of pvp games to get through
>>
damn adventure quest 3d looks truly awful, possibly worse than icarus.

The ones I'm most curious about are the ones who ranked LaTale anything about D. I'm genuinely curious as to why because when I played it, and I gave it a fair shot, like 10 days, all I kept doing was pressing 1 on my keyboard and then instakilling everything on screen, and this included bosses. No matter how far I got into the game, nothing changed, enter map, press 1, continue.

What was so good about it? Is it the idea of what it used to be before it got bogged down with bloat? It got really monotonous for me.

>>2732303
oh and also, you might not have been here for that, but we played Dragonica before and that one was 2 weeks of autoattacking since that's the most DPS you could put out, with way worse art and environments. So the 1 button gameplay isn't very unique to LaTale.
>>
>>2732442
auto attacking is definitely not the highest dps in dragonica except for one or two classes
>>
>>2731987
It's unique and has soul, granted it's basically a defiled corpse but that's why I put it in C and not above that, maybe if it had a private server I could have given it more.

We played on a server that had custom balancing by a guy that included his OC avatar in the games' loading screen, so maybe that had something to do with it. Or my class was one of those that just hold down autoattack and go pew pew.
Never got around to endgame, I assume things change there anyways. Still, it was extremely samey, even more so than Closers and LaTale.
>>
>>2731987
Whoops meant above D.
>>
I've noticed with the tiers that there's a distinct division between those that like Western MMOs and those that like Eastern MMOs. There's also two distinct camps of those that prefer more sandbox games and social experiences and those that like more linear, combat focused, content heavy experiences.

>Zu Online
Zu Online (2007) is a cell-shaded 3D MMORPG based on Chinese mythology and Xianxia cultivation fantasy. It features anime-style visuals, wuxia style combat.
Private servers exist such as Gods of Zushin which are essentially Classic ZU experience with QoL changes.
You can get the “original” ZU Online on Steam, but the original devs don’t run it anymore and the new company has filled it with p2w garbage.
>Champions of Regnum
F2P 3D MMO inspired by DAoC. 3 factions, RvR, etc. Argentine jank
>>
>>2733013
Good suggestions. Zu Online gives me major shovelware vibes, but it still might be fun and I'm yearning for wuxia games.
>>
>>2733167
Theres a few on the list they just never get picked.
>>
>>2733167
ZU Online classic is actually pretty soulful, one of the first Chinese 3D MMOs that was trying to compete with Classic WoW with really no bullshit involved.
Gods of Zushin exists for that reason. Theyve been running private servers for nearly a decade and trying to keep the OG feel of the game alive. One of the biggest changes they made was reducing the level grind, so you can get to end game earlier. In OG level cap was 100 and it took fucking ages

Nah the difference is clique who likes pictureslop friend simulator games and rates those highly, especially those where they can create anime girls. Then they rate any game where you have to interact with the wider community outside their clique in the low tiers like Puzzle Pirates and Nin. Then the other side is just people who like to play MMOs and rate the actual MMOs highly.

"Ongoing" is a stretch.
The current thread for TERA on /vm/ is just a shill thread for the objectively-worst NA private server (TERA Classic) with barely anyone playing, and the very occasional Anon checking out either Oldschool TERA Online or TERA Starscape on their own time. The actual revival of /terag/ on /vm/ had its last thread back in mid 2025, and so far as I can tell, nobody who was playing back then is still playing now.
>t. was there

Either way, TERA is something of a hard sell here, since while it by all accounts IS a niche property in [current year] (and even officially dead to-boot), it's also well-known enough on this website to feel more popular than it really is.
We've played entries throughout the MMODventure with far more players on-average compared to what you'd see on the vast majority of private servers for TERA, but as TERA was an MMO released in the 2010s, it's easy to assume that simply isn't the case due to recency bias. Same sort of deal with Blade&Soul, as the two titles are very much spiritual siblings in many respects.

The structure of TERA (and Blade&Soul by extension) also wouldn't work too amazingly for this project, as both games are very much themepark-style experiences, where everything relevant happens once you hit level cap and you're largely just soloing 'til then. Some private servers have insta-skip scrolls to cut out the leveling portion and just get to the "good parts", but that's another point of contention entirely.
Would it be cool to dungeon-dive with MMOD and take on Draakon Arena, or Antaroth Abyss, or Sky Cruiser Endeavor together? Yeah, absolutely. Would people actually be willing to make it there in just two weeks without getting bored of the mostly-solo leveling/gearing climb (as we similarly saw with Icarus)? Probably not.
>>
cool project but too late and no time for this, regardless, impressive.
>>
>>2739434
> Would people actually be willing to make it there in just two weeks without getting bored of the mostly-solo leveling/gearing climb (as we similarly saw with Icarus)? Probably not.
Modern TERA simply wouldn't work with the adventure. If they still have Sinestral Manor untouched + all the other dungeons and overworld BAMs there might be something worthwhile here
>>
>>2739195
Most of the custom changes out the ass is mostly just that they are technically on a later patch cosplaying as launch because an earlier patch doesn't exist that can go online

>>2739434
All good points but I thought it might work since they made a group levelling challenge fasttrack to cap where you can just kill the big ass monsters together for quest reward turn in exp. That's the best part of the game imo. Doesn't take 2 weeks, more like 2 days tops.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHweB1AxOWg
Tab-target MMO, one of the many WoW-killers of the late 2000s/early 2010s. Gameplay is a hybrid of WoW-like movement with skill combos. Group size 6

Anime tab-target MMO often compared to Flyff. Group size 7

>AdventureQuest 3D

Tab-target MMO based on the old flash game, using the same world, characters, etc. The class and progression systems are similar to other Artix games. The game doesn't take itself very seriously, so the writing is full of puns and other whimsical shit. Group size 5

>ArchAge
???

>Fallen Earth Classic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQG-UGuqVHo
Hybrid action MMO set in a post-apocalyptic Grand Canyon, often compared to Fallout or Stalker. The cash shop was entirely removed at some point.

>Nexus TK
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_slvWmjqFI0
2D MMO from 1996. The official server has a $10/month sub, but there's a handful of private servers that don't. There's more of an emphasis on roleplay since the gameplay is simpler.

>Shroud of the Avatar
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-kl1IUhG7M
Sandbox MMO inspired by Ultima Online, originally made by John Britain himself. Group size 12

I don't know why I always seem to bounce off the "good" games. D&DO got +1 week but I was done by day 3. Wakfu got +1 week, I think I only played like 5 days. MHF still has a thread, I played it for 1 evening. Didn't play SWG or DDO for the anni. Not enjoying CoH at all, it's absurdly boring, first vote is for +1 week.
>>
>>2742462
I am voting for the not well known games anyways
>>2742599
I mostly dipped from coh too. great character creator but that combat/questing is so fucking boring
>>
>>2742599
CoH's problem is that the character creator promises more than the gameplay can provide. The promise is that you can be any wacky hero you want, when in reality, 90% of powersets play exactly the same, down to their cooldowns and the levels they learn each ability. Instinctively, you can feel that the choices you make don't actually matter.

And then if you actually make an alt or try to compare choices, the masquerade immediately ends. It wouldn't be so bad - each powerset would basically be a different particle effect you could choose for your character. But even then, the character customization often reveals it's not actually that good and you can't quite recolour things or remove particle effects the way you'd really want.
>>
>>2742839
some of the later powersets are more varied from each other. Like Titan Weapons is pretty dramatically different from Street Justice which is different from Staff Fighting, and they're all more involved than like Katana or Broadsword which really are just reskins of each other.

Gonna hold capeshit movienight on wednesday. Will be setting up poll and stuff tomorrow.

Have had OG Spiderman (1) suggested for it.

Some superhero movies I enjoyed include:
Iron Man (1)
Captain America (1)
Watchmen
Hellboy (1)

Should at least have a batman movie. B a n e would be the obvious choice, as it's already on the backlog, but I wouldn't mind any from the Nolan trilogy or Tim Burton trilogy even. Similarly, at least one X-Men movie would be nice. I like the old ones that got some flak. Logan was also quite nice. Let me know your suggestions here! I reckon ~12 to pick from should be enough so we currently have some 5~6 slots open other than that. I remember watching the Punisher movie but I can't remember anything about it...

>>
>+1 week of coh

>>
>>2743112
ArcheAge is definitely a game where it's a huge pain in the ass to start out on an already established server because all the cabal and protection racket groups have already formed and hold the plots of land under an iron grip. I'm sure it used to be infested with real money traders and chink bot farm sweat shops as well, it's a game that lends itself to mafia and maximum jewery type structures.
I dunno if the private servers try to alleviate that shit in any way, or maybe even encourage the cutthroat landlord type behaviour.
>>
>>2742599
They're all Western games except DDO. Maybe you just like Eastern games as a preference. But the most popular games are always gonna be the Western classics from the 2000s.
>>
Even though it’s not really a niche game, I’d love to play Everquest for a couple weeks with a decent size group.
>>
>>2742462

>>
>>2742839
I'd disagree that the powersets are different particle effects. In fact I really like the variations on the powers.
>>
>>2742992
Batman Returns
Batman and Robin
>>
>>2742839
It feels like the game was really finding its stride before it died. Powersets from the expansions feel better than base game powers, the praetorian areas look great, the writing was improving, so on and so on. Then it got axed.
>>
>>2743173
Not just used to. It's very much the norm on every server. Even private servers are heavily controlled by it. The private servers sell the same apex packs like live that you can sell on AH to other players so they can buy cash shop items/loot boxes/etc. The cash shop items have benefits that normal items can't get and so on. Gliders are one of the main things that get given out by lootboxes but there's also regrade charms and such that are a big benefit.

You got a way better return on RMT than buying those packs though, obviously, so there's a big market for buying gold from other players. I played with people that frequently bought gold and I got to cash out a few hundred bucks when we were finished playing.

It takes a couple hours to get to max level on private servers. It takes a couple vdays on official. The leveling process isn't much of the game, it's mostly about gearing. Low gearscore gearing can be fun, you make upgrades relatively quickly. So a 2 week stay could potentially be fun. Land is usually available in private servers, just not always in good spots.
>>
Where can I vote?
Fallen earth would be great ngl
>>
>>2743281
I just played the Praetorian storyline and it was great. I feel like they were definitely testing the branching storyline and moral choices thing there and intended to use it for future content.

I think I levelled to max twice and had a good time with the game. Gave up on the labour/fatigue points stuff pretty quickly after reading through the forums that were filled with complaints about the big clans grabbing all the land within the first hours of a realm opening. It's the kind of game where the community (both the real human beans and the moneygrubbing RMTers) want a server reset every other month because the land system is so shitty.
I'm sure a lot of suckers spent a minor fortune on their little ivory tower plot, just to get griefed in the end, lol.
Oh, and it's one of the few MMOs where I've experienced active ganking and griefing while you're peacefully trying to grind out the daily chores.
At least the game is pretty, the main questing is smooth and the combat is kinda nice. Might be fun to see the PvP-naggers have their prejudices reinforced and there's potential for some meltdowns.
>>
As someone currently playing AA I can't in good conscience recommend the Archerage private server, not that AA Classic is much better. Also for AA Classic, I remember you needing to verify via Discord, so that likely disqualifies it?

I'm doubtful the game will be an enjoyable experience for most people either way. It's really only fun on fresh servers.

Batman beyond is pretty good
Teen titans in Tokyo is really good but it's the series finale so would be a bit weird without having watched the rest of the series.
I haven't watched it but I've heard excellent things about batman mark of the phantasm
For Mahvel,
I actually quite liked the dr strange origin animated movie. Felt it was better than the live action origin movie.
If we're not limited movies some classic Spiderman episodes would be neat too. Xmen evolution would be amazing.
I know there's a bunch of weeb versions but capeshit is the one place western animation actually had some good stuff so I'd like to limit it to western productions.

We lucked out with Nin's community being generally quite welcoming of us, despite the game having a heavy PvP slant. But yeah, barring very few exceptions, Asian-developed PvP focused MMOs tend to attract the worst types of people in general, and ArcheAge is almost certainly no exception.
Small scraps of fun can still be had in these types of games, so long as you go into them in full awareness that you are absolutely helpless prey against any native who notices you out in the wild. Obviously a rough environment for newcomers to be in all the same, hence why we've seen so few of them winning the polls throughout this project.
There's good reason why the Lineage II style of whale-vs-whale open world PvP gradually died out as the 2000s and early 2010s went on, with ArcheAge mercifully being the last real gasp of that approach to KMMO design.

I'm kinda craving a generic cutesy weeb MMO. Feels like we've had a bit of a break from them that I mis it. Nin doesn't count as its made by Westerners and isn't cutesy. And LaTale wasn't traditional enough that was a Maplelike.
>>

>>2746902
>Also I hate the fact that a game can get an extra week, never should have been added tbqh
makes sense for a game that takes awhile to get to max level, but everyone got to max level in coh in the first week and the gameplay is really bare bones im already through with it. got sick of the repetitiveness of the gameplay real fast.
>>
>>2746957
I just feel its against the spirit of the entire project, nothing is stopping people from playing the previous game after we moved onto the next game anyway
>>
>>2746957
Yeah its why I didnt vote for an extra week. Nobody got to ma level in the first week though so no idea where you got that from. We have two level 50s already, and most are in the level 40s and will probably hit 50 by Thurs or Fri. What are we gonna do for week 3 anyways?

I think this voting list gave me a little bit more faith going forward in that theres been discussion that we're powering through all the classics and all the good ones and leaving out all the stuff we dont like, so we should go through it to tick it off but there's lots I'd still check out from this list
>Aion
>Rose
>Shroud of the Avatar

I'd also revisit City of Heroes again for the anniversary, and also on the other list is Lotro and Star Trek Online. So theres still plenty.
>>
>>2755286

>>2756486
They move on or they don't. Theres always leftovers every time we move on, those who either arent interested in the game picked and continue playing the old one, or like it so much they continue playing, or were only ever there for that specific MMO anyways. Its how D&D spawned into a general and how Spiral Knights and Toontown's threads are still up despite being in March and April.

>>2759534
why would pvp matter if it's barren? and how is it being barren a problem? we are currently playing a game with pop of 13, played multiple games with dead pops, since it's the project.

>>2759339
Aion still technically won. When it comes to +1 weeks, we play second place after the +1 week is over. So Aion is coming next guaranteed.

Game 56 Finals has concluded, the winner is...
a 1 week extension of City Of Heroes, followed by the second placed game, Aion!

>>2733403
This looks like an interesting one. I vaguely remember the visuals but I don't think I ever played it beyond some beta test.

It's great when pserver devs strive to keep the original feel of the game. Far too many delve into QoL and custom features that destroy the whole experience.

>>2738088
Oh fuck yes. I've been waiting for someone to do this. The questing is total ass but the combat and dungeons are great.
>>
>>2760228
Sometimes it's the shitty seeming games that are most fun.

I don't think Aion will work at all for us. It's a pvp focused game with a slow ass grind to level stage that had absolutely nothing going for it. As generic kmmo as it can be. Suppose the server choice might change a bit but in the end it's still a pvp game for autistic p2w poopsockers.
>>
>>2762974
>It's a pvp focused game with a slow ass grind to level stage that had absolutely nothing going for it.
This describes every single remaining game from both lists.
>>
>>2762974
A game simply having PvP doesn't make it PvP focused, and there are private servers which should alleviate the p2w concerns (not that it ever matters in the first 2 weeks)

Meanwhile slow ass grind with no purpose describes some of the more popular games here, so I'm not sure what you're basing that off, the fact it's not anime? like idk man, let's play the game before judging it
>>
>>2762974
There was a bunch of people who seemed to like the pvp aspect of Nin so maybe pvp games will work now.
>>
>>2762974
>>2763037
Aion questing was reminiscent of RIFT, but this was going back to the 1.x server patches. I don't know what's changed since then. they were decently paced and higher quality from what i remember
>>
>>2762974
>As generic kmmo as it can be.
Thats kind of why I voted for it, it feels like a while since we've tackled a generic kmmo. They always seem to be popular choices too. (Mostly for pictures)
>>
>>2763037
>A game simply having PvP doesn't make it PvP focused
But Aion absolutely is pvp focused. Everything else in there is an afterthought. And it's the sort of griefing pvp where only the best on the server can enjoy it. Everyone else gets to be in the loser role.
>>
>>2763100
I feel like you're talking about completely different games. again I don't know if patches made it this way, but Aion had content for both PvE and PvP and I never encountered any griefing during lvling
I am concerned mostly about te lack of server research for this one

>>
>>2763148
Aion is a bad game that looks very pretty.
>>
>>2763071
the questing from what I remember is as boring as it is in most Korean MMOs in other words it's mobs randomly splattered about in groups only there to be killed for quest a or b with little thought to world building or level design

Last Aion 1 patches is basically mashing the whole pop to grind in the pvp zones, there is currency and some rewards for killing people from other factions, and most of the end game content requires you to nolife in the pvp zones, so griefers bum around those areas and kill dudes who don't have bazillion stats
>>
>>2763087
Popular for who, I wonder. The games that had the most players were anything but those, just look at Icarus or Knight Online numbers and compared it to like Wakfu,DDO, SWG or CoH which were more out of the box MMOs. I still will give them a try if they are voted, but I will shill against them always because it ends with everyone abadoning ship after 3 days and only the screenshot clique playing afterwards
>>
>>2763258

Honestly, I don't mind the games being "bad". The issue is when the game is boring.
Nin and LaTale were objectivelly bad games, but they were different from anything we played before, we could stretch the definition and also say the same for Gundam UC and Toontown. I avoid grindslop like Aion like the plague because it ends being the most cookie cutter tab-targetting slop, even if the end game or production value is quite decent, I hang with you guys to play some esoteric shit that is bad on purpose.

So..vote for shit like H&H or Atlantis online next time, they seem shit as heck, but they are quite unique.
>>
>>2763205
it's literally just korean wow
>>
>>2763281
Honestly if we could pick the earliest Aion seasons, it could be bearable. The issue with Aion is that the grind grew exponentially over the course of the game lifespan, the gear and stat gates got unbearable as more content got churned and that made the end game zones even worse in that regard.
The best way to summarize is that if they picked Diablo 3 progression and tried to cram it into a themepark MMO with open pvp (Like worlo). Aion was basically Korean worlo at the time, we will see the similarities once we play it.

The dungeons/raids are quite alright, nothing on the levels of MoP/WoD raids level of mechanics and quality, but decent. The issue is how long you need to grind to get there
>>
I cant wait until we play Anarchy Online. I love those old school mmos
>>
>>2763316
it might have been called a wow killer back in the day but the quality of the two games is not comparable
>>
>>2763490
pretty comparable to me, but i have no preconceived bias towards what is one of the shittiest games ever made
>>
>>2763520
wow was a disaster for the genre but it did quality like no other game in the genre before it and I would argue even no game since

even today I'd say mmos struggle to be as playable and smooth as wow was in 2005 and I don't mean the qol or the casualized experience but how smooth it controls and how everything just works yeah yeah I remember servers went down and bugs were also a thing back then that's besides the point
>>
>>2763273
By popular I meant more so reception than numbers. Generally I find its the asian MMOs that are popular with the regulars here, then the classic 2000s MMOs that are popular with the /v/ thread crowd and the one off players, then semi-regulars dip in and out of everything else. Then the ones that arent these generally tend to be low pop.
>>
>>2763164
Exactly, popular with the screenshot and saturday photo crowd.
>>
CoH is just fucking boring. It's genuinely making me tempted to fire up Latale.
>>
>>2763616
We get it, you played for a day and left and have been complaining in both threads every day since.
>>
>>2763160
Could be interesting, but only if superior server alternatives are known to exist for the game in question, which isn't always the case.
Regardless, there's still the risk of people treating a hypothetical second chance at a title known to be negatively received as an excuse to just not play at all until the next "real" game comes along, so the runtime for it would need to be brief. Even just one week might be a hard sell for some things we've endured.
Also the S1 LaTale server died a couple of weeks ago, not that anyone could reach it anyway. There IS a relatively new private server for S4 LaTale which is functional, but it's Discord only.

>>2763654
Wonder if it's the same guy who ragequit Nin Online after less than an hour due to it not having quest markers, and spent the next several days going on about how bad the game was in the thread. Peak /v/ behavior.
>>
>>2763669
I'm starting to wonder if its just a thread troll who does this for every game because every game we have someone constantly bitching and moaning about it, usually with incorrect info.

The one I remember from Nin was the one who failed the jump quest, instantly quit the game and spent the entire thread whining about how nobody should play it as they personally don't like it.
>>
>>2763294
Yeah playing bad games is part of the experience. If anything part of the original ethos of the project. Old ass, dead ass, janky mmos. Nin and LaTale were bad but both provided something for me. Nin was made playable for me by its fun and active and competitive community, and LaTale it was interesting to see a game that once was, and compare old LaTale to new LaTale, so I still got something out of those games. With City of Heroes, yes the gameplay is kind of repetitive but it's not the only MMO where that's an issue. It has a lot of charm to it and you can tell that the devs really gave a fuck about making a superhero MMO by adding the little details and not just cashing in. What I'm getting out of CoH is getting to experience an MMO from that classic "Golden Age" of MMOs so to speak from 1999 - 2006.
>>
the circlejerk around any negative post being fake is pretty annoying though
>>
>>2763654
>>2763669
>>2763671
I've actually played it a ton. I have two level 20 characters and four or five more at level 10. I have altitis and the character creator is more fun than the actual gameplay. I'll spend 2 hours perfecting a character, play the game, and then it'll be disappointing so I'll go back to character creation.

Stop trying to gamer cred me, we all play the same games. We all sit through the same shitty MMOs. THIS shitty MMO didn't need or deserve +1 week, and you know that very well, because you've been here for all the other ones and you can recognize how shitty it is.
>>
>>2763294
>we could stretch the definition and also say the same for Gundam UC and Toontown
And Puzzle Pirates for sure.
>>
>>2763616
wasnt my thing either. I liked playing more of the character creation for coh than I did actually playing the game. for me what really bugged me the most was instead of gear dropping those fucking token things with a paragraph or sometimes more of text on each one. I cant be bothered to read that shit nor do I give a shit to theory craft a dead game. I hate games that try to be special and instead of dropping gear they some other shit, maybe this is my wow brain coming out but I prefer gear dropping. would have been cool if you killed some enemy in coh and he dropped some cape thats not found in character creation. la tale was the opposite though they had gear drops but the catchup gear was so fucking op you never needed to get any actual gear from any of the dungeons
>>
>>2763680
For me its that whenever someone dislikes a game, rather than just say they dislike it and why and leave, it feels like every game there's some who just stays in the thread and this thread and says the same thing over and over and over and its a constant "Why are you playing it? its bad!!" Happened with Nin, Puzzle Pirates, LaTale, etc.
>>
>>2763681
Were you leveling with others, or just trying to take it solo? It's way more enjoyable when you're in a group.
Dunno what to tell you, the game's been well received by most who've played it. Enough to be one of the only games so far to win +1 week at least, which practically never happens here.
>>
>>2763705
See this is fine, just saying it wasn't your thing and why, I just don't understand stuff like >>2763681 where they can't understand why other people might not like it just because they personally don't and think we're all just pretending to like it. Because they just can't comprehend someone liking things they don't like.

I'll help get the ball rolling on this. if we take the popularity/anniv poll in reverse, here are the 16 least voted games. I excluded games like Iris and Luscent Heart due to recency and since they were sparsely voted because of said recency (i.e., played in the last ~6mo).
RayCity
Seal Online
Eldevin
Closers Online
MU Online
Tales of Pirates
Continent of the Ninth Seal
Chronicles of Spellborn
Perpetuum
Florensia Online
Scarlet Blade
Fiesta Online
Ace Online
Secret of the Solstice
Aura Kingdom
Rising Force Online

keep in mind some of these games have a single server only, so I dunno if we should outright exclude them depending if we want to make this a second chance thing. some of the games were decently received like SotS so we could refine this a bit if needed.

Anything is fun in a group. Fun games make it easier to group up. Games where I make a lot of alts make it hard to group up because I'm never playing one alt long enough for it to be worth me joining the guild and asking if anyone wants to party up. Therefore, games which encourage a lot of alts via a good character creator but don't encourage you to actually play 1 character for a long time (because they have weak gameplay) are bad for grouping up.

>>2763722
I didn't say you couldn't like it. I said it was shitty and didn't deserve +1 week, which are objective statements, not subjective ones. The game isn't good, and it's not good for extremely visible, objective reasons. It's not good just like all the other not good games we play.

I can be objective about the games I like. Why can't you? I liked LaTale even though I knew it was shitty. It had soul but it was shit. I liked Nin even though I knew it was shitty. I liked Iris even though I knew it was shitty. That level curve after 60 was peak kusoge but I had fun.

The difference between you and me is that I didn't get +1 week to force other people to sit through the shitty games I liked, and I didn't roast people in the thread for disliking the shitty games I liked. I didn't fucking attribute weird personality traits like "not comprehending people liking things they don't like" onto you, you fucking jackass, so what makes you think you're justified in doing it to me? You're just a mean fucking person with no sense of perspective.

That's not for you or any singular anon to decide.
A majority of people voted for the +1 week and that's what's happening, it's not hard to understand that...
>>
>>2763835
"People voted for it and that's what's happening" is not a valid reason for a game to need or deserve +1 week, and it certainly isn't a reason for me to stop complaining. And maybe this isn't the place for you to pull out rhetoric typically used by boomers to justify the results of actual real-life elections?

I think its just a to each their own thing. I just had the most fun I had on the game right now in a very difficult Strike Force, maybe overly difficult. Where we had to really plan and work as a team in that final dungeon. Where we just went for constantly knocking them off the ledges to separate them. Made beating it more satisfying and it had an old school MMO feel.

I dunno if you were the one posting in the CoH thread, but I suspect so due to the very similar criticism and reasons, but I said if you don't like CoH you might not like MMOs very much and it was taken the wrong way. What I meant by that was not that CoH is the pinnacle of gameplay and the perfect representative of gameplay. Far from it. Its gameplay is fairly generic and its that genericness that makes me think "Oh you must not like MMOs much" because its just typical MMO gameplay, and something we're gonna encounter A LOT in MMOD as there's a lot of MMOs like it. I didn't say that to be smug or arrogant or like, be the dictator of MMO quality, I said it just confuses me that CoH is the one that made you tap out and to the point you're also angry it got extended for a week, like you can't fathom why people might like it. That the only conclusion I can come to is you might not like MMOs because CoH is just a pretty inoffensive MMO in general. Nothing mindblowing but certainly nothing awful.

What I meant by that statement, and I guess the statement also counts towards your ones in here. Is that if City of Heroes' gameplay is like your limit, how are you gonna survive Aion, the most grindy kmmo there is? How are you gonna survive other games with worse gameplay and far more grindiness? Because again, CoH is mostly inoffensive. I just don't get how City of Heroes and its "Kill 10 Longbow" was the one to make you go "Right thats it" when before that we played shit like LaTale with "kill 120 enemies" and Nin with "Kill 80 enemies" just logically in my head, those should have been the ones to make you tap out in terms of repetitiveness. Or Star Wars Galaxies, that had a far jankier UI and combat.
>>
>>2764003
(cont)

My point overall hasn't been that CoH's gameplay is the best, because its not, far from it. Again its nothing mindblowing and then combine that with the fact it's certainly showing its age now. My point is that its not the worst. I think its gameplay is fairly general for an MMO of its time. So it just makes me think "How are you gonna survive every other MMO like it?"

There are bright spots in the gameplay. IMO. I really like the difficulty, some of the later level stuff, such as the Strike Force bosses are real challenging and require actual teamwork and tactics. I just really like the difficulty overall, it provides a challenge without being annoying, it knows when to deliver a power fantasy and when to kick shit up, and then there's a difficulty slider which helps too so its customizable that way. I like when theres a full party and theres so much chaos and shit on the screen. That adds to the fun to me to just see shit flying everywhere rocks spawning, blazes of fire. I like how the more you level up the more visibly powerful you get. And I like some of the storylines, I like how you can make a choice like save someone in a mission and then that person will fight alongside you as an Ally in the final mission of that chain, I like how cheesy some of the stories can be too, and I like the Praetoria storyline.

I think the reason why people voted for +1 week is theres unfinished business and stuff they wanna explore. I personally voted for Rose Online but CoH was second for me because theres still stuff to do. Theres still Hero content, and villain side theres still the max level Strike Forces and Trials we havent done, and the Patron missions. I know a few wanted to unlock the Patron powers from those missions. And since there was 15 people online tonight its just simply "Enough people wanna keep playing" as to why it won.
>>
>>2763802
Finally the teaming thing seems like a you problem. Specifically:
> Games where I make a lot of alts make it hard to group up because I'm never playing one alt long enough for it to be worth me joining the guild and asking if anyone wants to party up.

Thats not the situation for everyone. I have one character. I've grouped up a lot, and I think its a game where its necessary to group up as each archetype offers something another archetype doesn't. Even down to the powersets, they offer something different. Like in Defender, Rad offers mostly debuffs, Kinetics offers speed boosts, and Empathy is pure healing.
>>
I think the varied perspectives about CoH are a great example of why we do MMOD. People have been saying that grouping up is great in CoH because of the level sync, but here we have testimony from a different type of player who thought grouping up was bad because he had a lot of alts and that made grouping difficult.

Ultimately, this sort of discourse improves our knowledge of MMOs. CoH did die, after all. Maybe this is one reason for it.
>>
>>2764035
IMO the true failures of MMOD are the meh games we barely remember. If you have a strong opinion on an MMO, whether its that you like or dislike it, at least it left an impression on you. The point of MMOD was to play both the good and bad games, to discover hidden gems and absolute disasters, its why we went for dead and obscure MMOs after all, a lot of them are gonna have jank because of it.

The failures are the forgettable ones where when you see its name you go "Which one was that again?"

Anon, people voted for it, the +1 week didn"t happen even with well regarded contestants like SWG, DDO and fucking Wakfu, which even after their end, had 5 to 10 anons playing for a month or so. Anons usually don't like +1 weeks, so if CoH of all things, got one, it means they liked the game a ton

>the +1 week didn"t happen even with well regarded contestants like SWG, DDO and fucking Wakfu
>Anons usually don't like +1 weeks, so if CoH of all things, got one, it means they liked the game a ton
Gonna have to correct you on this one, the +1 was only implemented since Eldevin, and was enacted as early as DnDO. If it was introduced earlier DDO would've absolutely gotten an extension along with numerous past titles. In fact, reason it was implemented in the first place were anons complaining 2 weeks weren't enough to experience some MMOs and leaving them felt premature.
>>
>>2764067
why not? I think it's a cool idea to have a "worst of: second wind" complementary to a "greatest hits" revisit. timing needs to fit between the "big" titles though

>meta shit
this whole project is about voting games based on arbitrary criteria
>>
>>2764387
I'm not lying and I don't like that you pretend like I do.
Who would this bad game revisit really be for?
>people that already played the game with the MMOD
They played it already and generally think that it was a bad time, hence its low standing in the (strawpolled) rankings. Note that the 'we'll play a better server this time' thing is not going to be relevant for most of the stinkers, if any at all.
>the anons we fish for on /v/ to increase participation in the project
It's a hard sell to waltz in there and proclaim 'we'll be playing a trash game that some of us are already familiar with, come join in'. It's mostly self-serving and nothing that's relevant to your average /v/edditor.
>people who are already invested in the project and didn't get to play said bad game
Yeah sure, I get this part, though I think that some people might romantisice the idea of playing one of our past games too much, or they might be motivated by their own nostalgia.

I'd prefer to move on to another potentially shit game instead of voting for a known stinker.
What do you think will happen if we end up having to play RayCity (because driving is fun!) or MU Online (hey, I played this as a kid!) for two more weeks? it's gonna be dead as fuck.
>>
Also, it further complicates the schedule. The +1 week thing is bad enough; people who don't read these threads because they're full of whining and weird cultish circlejerking might check back in after seeing the /v/ thread two weeks prior only to find that we're doing a completely different thing than what was advertisted instead, so they'll 360 and walk away. I'm not against changing things around per se, but I'd like to keep it simple without all these occult proceedings that newcomers won't even be able to understand.
>>
>>2764425
>I'm not lying and I don't like that you pretend like I do.
I am calling you out on saying nobody cares about revisits, which is patently false when the last revisit poll had an all time high of 26 mail token votes, and typically good turnout, only DDO was an exception and the reasons were already hashed out I won't go into.
>Note that the 'we'll play a better server this time' thing is not going to be relevant for most of the stinkers, if any at all.
hard to say this if the server choice was on a later patch that completely overhauls the game desu. which is what prior anons said were interested in doing. games like Ace I can agree are most likely unsalvageable, but there's an appeal here to suffer through shit games together or for new anons to experience what it's "really" like just as a comparison to other dreadful picks.
>two more weeks
pretty sure it was agreed upon this stint, if it even happens, would take 1 week max, or even a few days. I'd prefer 1 week, just to make it worthwhile for organizers and neatly end on the next Saturday
>>2764446
>Also, it further complicates the schedule
this is a valid point in terms of organizing, but is running a previous game for a week really confusing for newcomers? do anons routinely check this project once every 2 weeks?

again I think there's value in giving second chances to otherwise poorly received games, but it needs to be timing sensitive (i.e., not immediately after a depopulation bomber). maybe anniversary, but I can see anons wanting to move on to a fresh game by then

This is fairly intellectually dishonest, even setting aside the fact that it was the anniversary event and everyone was pushing their own favourite games.
He didn't say no one cares about revisits, his exact point was outsiders don't care for revisits which is true more often than not. That limits the potential pool of players to mainly those who have participated in the project previously.
Then on top of that there are people who are not fond of revisits in general, people who are not fond of the idea of disrupting the normal flow of things for yet another event and people who don't want to replay a game that was miserable in the first place.
>pretty sure it was agreed upon this stint, if it even happens, would take 1 week max, or even a few days. I'd prefer 1 week, just to make it worthwhile for organizers and neatly end on the next Saturday
This is even more reason for newfags not to get involved while we're faffing about jerking ourselves silly over a game we already played and collectively hated. 2 weeks is very little for an MMO in the grand scheme of things and has even historically been an issue thanks to differences in play time between anons. 1 week is an exceptionally hard sell, especially for bad games which most of the project will already be familiar with.

This is my own schizo take on this whole mess, but the "replaying games on a different server" idea seems to have gained a whole lot of steam since LaTale was a wet fart despite some anon clearly having mega nostalgia for it. Then came the bargaining and promising us it used to be good, or it could be good on a different server, etc.
This whole mess has me suspicious as fuck of the motives of those who are pushing for it.
>>
>>2763766
>>2764125
I think it makes more sense if a new promising server shows up for a game. Or if we vote for a server that turns out to be shit and there's a significantly different one that we didn't pick. One potential example that comes to mind is LotRO with official vs private. Not much point in a revisit when nothing has changed.
>>
>>2764564
>He didn't say no one cares about revisits, his exact point was outsiders don't care for revisits which is true more often than not. That limits the potential pool of players to mainly those who have participated in the project previously.
what are you on? he specifically alludes members of the project not giving a shit about revisits >>2764368 despite them being popular even with regulars.
and how are revisits outsider unfriendly? if anything they give a second chance for anons to play titles they've missed before they've heard of the project, which I thought was the main intent, not to circlejerk on previous characters and achievements.

>This is my own schizo take on this whole mess,
sorry, but I'm not the guy who pushed the idea nor have I even played LaTale to have an opinion one way or another for it. I was actually fine with dropping it altogether until anons revigorated interest in this thread so I figured I'd make things easier for potentially organizing.
albeit disappointing to have an interesting idea met with schizo theories on some colluded attempt at playing older games

>>
>>2764595
>what are you on? he specifically alludes members of the project not giving a shit about revisits...
Are you incapable of reading?
>no regular anon AND a number of people who are part of this project
>two categories
>newfags, aka regular anons
>retards who have given their life for the mmo grind, aka people who are part of the project
I already went over both parties in my post. There are several veterans who fit the profiles of each of my examples from that post in this very thread.
The call is coming from inside the house!
In addition, "revisits are popular with regulars" is disingenuous in and of itself. I skipped over it for brevity lol in my previous post but we have one a year as a special event and even then there are those who refuse to participate, especially if their pick loses the vote. Total votes are not the same as turn-out, and using total votes as a measure of popularity is misguided when that popularity is entirely contingent on the outcome.
>and how are revisits outsider unfriendly...
Historically they are consistently the games with the least new players.
The argument seems to be if we go to the same server, it's people not wanting to be behind.
If it's a new server, the shorter visits are the killer.
There's no winning with new players on a revisit unless you give it the standard two weeks, which is entirely too much for something that's going to happen more than once a year.
We're not exactly running out of games any time soon. In my opinion this kind of idea can sit on the back burner until the lists are a lot thinner, if this project even lasts that long.

>sorry, but I'm not the guy who pushed the idea
My bad g, wasn't saying you were. I am suspicious of the average anon pushing this but that's more to do with guerrilla posts.
I very specifically spaced my post so you'd know it was a separate thought but I hit the character limit and text as a medium is a bitch that way.

Here's some servers on later patches.

EuroAion - https://euroaion.com/en-US
x1 rates.
Runs the 4.6 patch. Grind heavy.
Highest population, has significant playercounts at most times of day.
Server located in Germany.
The server has been stable and active for years.
Note that the site requests a Gmail address, but different emails seem to work.

Minimal players LFG during NA prime time. Language barrier is noticeable.
Very strong Russian presence.
Shop doesn’t sell any stat-boosting gear. May sell mats/consumables, not sure.
Poor enchanting rates, requires significant effort/cash to enhance gear.
Notable class imbalances. (These two might be a result of the server running v4.6).

Aion America - https://www.americaprivateserver.com/en
x4 mob hunting, x2 drop rate, other rates are unchanged.
Also runs the 4.6 patch.
Low population.
Server located in Canada.
Server has experienced many resets.
Shop only sells cosmetics.
Might share some of the v4.6 downsides of EuroAion.
>>

Yes, 1x on anything that isn't the launch patch will suck A LOT. Aion takes a lot for ARPGs and equivalents, we would be grinding mods for stats (completing collections and whatnot give you flat stats), so we don't get gaped for the next zones.

If anyone played Icarus at launch, it will be like that, the xp curve isn't kind at all
>>
>>2764788
But Aion is literally this. It had tons of "kill 1k of the same mob to get 10 more hp" so you don't get clapped in pvp or pve.

It also has the korean autism of breaking/downgrading your weapons when you try to reforge them

>>
>>2764767
the 1x is "that bad" for everything that comes out of korea. other replies are mentioning endgame grind because it's the worst part they remember, but the job of a KMMO private host is to pull the leash taut on the korean impulse and drag it, choking, towards somewhere more sensible. if they didn't do that, there's no hope for it

my one exception is MS2 because the msq just brings you to level cap, but i think that's why they killed it (can't be nice to your players over there)

>>
>>2765114
Why are people here hyper focusing on the "bad game" angle so bad when the idea turned more to giving games ruined by a bad server pick a second go? The former is pure disaster tourism which fits the spirit at least, but the latter will drum up interest whether within or outside the project.
>>
>>2765749
>giving games ruined by a bad server pick a second go
This. Especially if any truly classic style servers pop up for the games we have already played.
>>
>>2765747
Right, I see. In that case I think it will be an even worse look for new people in terms of congruity:
MMODfags majorily vote for an extension and then fuck off from the game during the third week to play some previously explored title to chase 'the real experience' on a 'better server'.
The MMOdventure participants are now split and new players or people who drop in and out that don't care about LaTale season 1 will be left with diminished player numbers, wondering what the point of an extension even was. That's borderline trolling anyone new coming in.
It will also create a dynamic where people vote for an extension just to get the 'bad game revisit' to pop, which is pretty hostile in my opinion.

Of course you're all free to do whatever you want with your spare time, so knock yourselves out. I think the Puzzle Pirates one day excursion where you guys played some more of that game was done with taste and tact for example.
I'm just seeing more and more clearly that some people participating in this project don't give a rats ass about how they're perceived by anons checking the project out for the first time.
In my view, this project is meant for all 4chan anons that want to experience weird and dead MMOs together with a group of sorta, kinda likeminded autists, an experience that they might not get anywhere else. It's not meant to fulfill the selfish nostalgia cravings of a core group of vets and I don't like it being used as such.
>>
>>2764599
1.9 seems to be the last patch before the game went f2p, there's a lot of nostalgia for it because it was drastically different game where lvling was more for the "journey" and rare gear drops mattered. from what I understand 2.0 then further patches, especially 3+ consolidated content and became more of a rush to endgame where the real game begins. I'm most concerned about >>2763258 where everyone grinds and ganks in the same map

why do you keep bringing up 2 weeks? the anniversary games werent 2 weeks they were 1 week each. a revisit of bad games would mostly be for people who didnt get to experience them and would only be for 3 days id say, maybe even 1 day as a minigame night. also I keep saying this but I feel like a lot of anons here only want to play mmos they have experience in or nostalgia for which is lame and write off playing any bad mmos that get voted for and also so many anons write off games as bad before even trying them because they heard some review faggot online say it wasnt good
>>
>>2766049
Going by that 1.9 sounds good. 1x might be rough but if we party it should be doable. From what I remember healers and maybe tanks weren't really designed to solo but that's my vague recollection from the little time I spent with the game over 15 years ago.

that would work for trash like ACE Online or RayCity. I don't see the point in playing a kmmo for one day where you'll barely get used to the UI and interface and might not even get to leave the tutorial zone, but then again, I don't have to partake in something which I see as pointless.
>>
>>2766045
Hold on, why would CoH anons want to play a game that has previously been deemed bad? They have already voted for an extension and they are enjoying it. The revisit would be for anons who aren't playing CoH, which is a large group right now. The revisit will not be advertised outside of /vm/, it will only be done for anons who do not care about CoH.

>It will also create a dynamic where people vote for an extension just to get the 'bad game revisit' to pop, which is pretty hostile in my opinion.
There are roughly 27~ voters and the majority are anons that already experienced those games. I can't picture them attempt to do a RayCity rerun.
>>
you guys are overthinking this. just use a random picker.
>>
>>2766182
Vote splitting and population splitting an already small pool is retarded. What if people who play and enjoy CoH want to replay an older game, who are you to speak for them? Keep in mind it's not just bad games, but games with potential with bad server choices.
>>
>>2766124
>maybe even 1 day as a minigame night.
Ace should've been a minigame in the first place. Honestly it never should've been a proper 2 week title. If Pirates can get relegated here I don't see why not Ace.
>>
>>2766208
A simple revisit would be just as impactful as a minigame or movie night. It isn't gonna split the population at all.
>What if people who play and enjoy CoH want to replay an older game, who are you to speak for them?
That's up to them. They voted for an extension, it is up to them whether they play it or not.
>>
>>2766226
At least with minigames and movie nights the expectation is to return to the voted game after a few hours. Splitting an already small pop into playing 2 games at once will just take away from everyone's experiences.
>>
>>2766236
Anon, you are treating everyone here as if they were pre-teens, when the bulk of them are over the age of 25. Besides this particular situation is unlikely to occur frequently given that the extension occurred only once so far.
>>
>>2766182
>Hold on, why would CoH anons want to play a game that has previously been deemed bad?
Because they're potentially friends with the people pissing off to the other game and/or will experience FOMO about another event running parallel to the currently running game, which will come with huge blog posts and millions of screenshots, no doubt.
>>2766226
>saying that it's only one day and that it's only going to be the people who arent playing anyways, honest
>meanwhile timeframes from 2 weeks to 1 day have been mentioned thus far
Sure man, whatever. I think it's a bad idea for a number of reasons and that it's not healthy for the project, but it's not like I can stop you. Just try it out and see how it is to play LaTale with 5 people while we play the game extension with 5 people while sharing the same thread.
>>
I think the bad/poor game revisit is a bad idea... but people have to stop thinking everything needs to be a formal process. We have this thread to communicate for a reason. if you want to revisit X game while the current game doesn't interest you or just want suggestions (or want to suggest) for what to revisit just post a way. If you ask people to join you, one or two people definitely will join you. There will always be people where the current game isn't fun for them. And if you get enough people then you can make it a major thing.
>>
>>2765749
>Why are people here hyper focusing on the "bad game" angle so bad when the idea turned more to giving games ruined by a bad server pick a second go?
Setting aside that the "bad game angle" was the original idea, which games even fit the bill?
Most of the games in the anniversary-derived list were dull games regardless of the server choice.

>>2766124
>I feel like a lot of anons here only want to play mmos they have experience in or nostalgia for which is lame and write off playing any bad mmos that get voted for and also so many anons write off games as bad before even trying them because they heard some review faggot online say it wasnt good
Sounds like a retarded bogeyman. There are a few of you cockchuffers that push this angle when a game that isn't unplayable garbage with a malware scare wins the regular vote too, but now you're trying to say not wanting to revisit dogshit that we already played for 2 weeks is somehow against the spirit of the project.
I'm not here to suffer through awful games and I don't think many others are either. I want to see what's out there, sure, but I have no intention of replaying bad shit I already hated to sate the masochists in the audience.

>people who only want to play popular mmos youve come to the wrong place
if popular is close enough to good in your eyes that you can dismiss posts out of hand with it, you do not have the mental hardware to talk to other people. please find your handler and tell him he can have his computer back

>>2765512
you make it sound like a captive audience. do you think people just spawn in?

i hope you guys notice the people who have this strand of masochism in particular actually are just along for the ride and you don't have to respect their fetish to be around them. they might even like it if you made fun of them for it, all things considered

>giving games ruined by a bad server pick a second go
there's a very small amount of possible clawback for game quality between two private servers that run without lag and actually provide the game advertised, anon. it's so miniscule that you'd have to give a real argument on a case by case basis to not just sound like you're calling sour grapes that your endgame character isn't on the chosen server. even RO with its 9 billion rate servers is giving you the same game most of the time, they're just meant to funnel you towards having your class loadout ready for PVP faster

like if there's shit on the level of SWG or RO having an Update That Ruined Everything we'd know about it beforehand. people talk about that shit during the vote if they get close. i don't think we ever picked the "wrong server" outright yet and nobody's made it known if we have, but i wouldn't make a whole 'event' period to second guess it if we did

>>2765701
>>2765718
if we're gonna be stupid about it i assume there are enough capeshit haters to do it with THIS one instead of waiting for another +1. you oughta commit to your ideas, anons
>>
>>2766431
this is also true, instead of spamming the thread with broken arguments and handwaves in the vain hope that the one or two guys hosting the website will try a half-thought-out idea, you could just spam the thread with HEY LET'S GO BACK TO TOONTOWN I'LL BE THERE FOR MINIGAMES

it's been working for the puzzle pirates guy calling it a minigame
>>
>>2766124
i do write off bad MMOs, and thank god we can try the stinkers for free because your "but you haven't PLAYED it" attitude only works for this kinda thread and you sound like a lesser being now for it

however, that's not the spirit for me. i just leave if it's shitty. i'm not coming back for a revisit if it's shitty. i'm happy there's so many people who talk about eating shit, cause maybe that means we can make the flies extinct and not lose much, but you'll never redefine the room you're in around it unless you make your own. make a new thread, shit eater
>>
>>2766517
>I'm not here to suffer through awful games and I don't think many others are either.
then you better go start your own adventure thread because we have months worth of bad games on that list still
>>2766587
then maybe youre in the wrong thread and yes thats no issue if you dont like it then you dont have to play it but so many anons have the idea that theyre too high and mighty for bad games but its also a matter of perspective. COH is complete dogshit to me but im not going to say people shouldnt play it ill just go do something else while that finishes up like I did the same for wakfu
>>
>>2766701
why is it that everyone who drops in to say "actually this thread was made for bad games!!!" has such a warped perspective on which ones are bad? i get that having mechanical standards is a mental skill, but usually that just results in someone liking everything including the garbage. why do so many people seem to be averse to good ones outright here?

like i'm skipping CoH too because aesthetically, playing a custom superhero just feels like an ugly man parade to me, but it would never occur to me to accuse it of being a bad game outright. from what i've seen of it, it just doesn't have enough pain points besides the subject matter to actually villainize.

Wakfu, too, was just too slow of a format for a 2 week run to mean anything. it and LaTale are things i'm simply planning to take on myself, but i dropped them after 3 days because i know i would not have been satisfied by my ending point.

if you want to say the thread is made for the disaster tourism aspect, you ought to tell us the real disasters you've enjoyed, because it sounds like you're just trying to look for opportunities to indulge in your masochism fetish.

you know you can pick the kusoge that doesn't get voted for and just play it, right? nobody's stopping you from struggling through priston tale or "revisiting" the Riders of Icarus server you skipped the first time in the privacy of your own home, we'd just prefer you not shit up the thread with your "well actually everything's bad" whining when it loses another vote
>>
>>2766701
Your view of what this project stands for is clearly wrong.
Bad games die quickly here. No one wants to play them.
I suggest you take your own advice here and make your own little gay thread for masochist retards.
>>
>>2766766
>masochism
but there's a reason almost all these games shut down. I just didnt like coh but to each their own. wakfu I just didnt understand. I enjoyed Hellgate the most and a lot of anons wrote it off but I can also understand peoples gripes with them, but thats what I said though its a matter of taste. Ace Online looks fun to me even though a lot hated it and I thought Icarus was the worst game we've ever played but some liked it. There's also some who hated PP and some of us who liked it for what it was
>nobody's stopping you from struggling through priston tale
Prison Tale is still on the list and you know once we get through all the "good" games we are still going to play the bad games right? You act like we're going to avoid them or are you that anon that suggested we have a game veto to skip games? I dont care what people vote for btw but id like things to be spaced out. going from coh to aion to whatever popular thing people vote for next is lame and some of this stuff is obviously rigged
>>2766842
we're still going to get to bad games rather you anons want to or not its just a matter of when. priston tale is still on the list. broken ranks is still on the list just because it barely lost the vote to aion. so go ahead vote for all the popular games then quit once you game guided us you little faggots
>>
just here to say that MMOs are dogshit and this whole thing taught me that there's a reason this genre is dead
all of these games and only a few were genuinely good, yet they're some of the least known ones
>>
>>2766182
Stop splitting groups you retard. Either make the revisits part of the schedule of bury the idea. That will make anons even more splintered and will rally the schizos into clique calling even harderm
>>
>>2766861
I'm perfectly happy to try any game on the list if I have time for it. I am however not going to wallow in shit because some gay loser on /vm/ thinks I'm not hardcore enough for his pet thread if I don't punish myself by continuing to play games after it's obvious they're garbage.
>>
>>2766265
And that makes the situation even worse, a good chunk of us work or have appointments, some anons will feel left out, and this will make the project go sour. This whole idea feels bad, we don't have the manpower or time to host multiple events in the same week, it's not feasible
>>
>>2766861
>but there's a reason almost all these games shut down.
yeah we (probably even you) have already litigated the difference between popular and bad a hundred times here, you're wrong about games that didn't skinner box hard enough to please an EA-level publisher like gpotato or nexon being inherently bad, and it's annoying to hear that you either can't read already-settled arguments or were on the losing side and forgot

if a game plays like shit or mugs you for your wallet, it does not give you street cred to wade through it. you don't even have a name.
>>
>>2766920
just do the bad game revisit once a year like the anniversary one
>>2766923
>>2766907
no but even bad games have their value. i could write an entire eulogy on why icarus was bad but the taming system was still cool and unique, and also maybe we wouldnt have had a bad time with icarus if we had picked a server with higher xp rates. we intentionally voted for the xp rate most like when the game came out and it was a horrible experience, a bad game revisit could redeem these games, and again im not saying you should be forced to play games you dont like but its unavoidable. there are only a limited amount of popular games still on that list with at least 40 bad games or games we never heard of. I try not to lookup any info on the game we're playing though before playing it as in not to make some fag sway my opinion on the game

For aion 1 you either want to look into having a PvE experience or PvP experience.

>PvP experience
The issue with this is you either go on a server that gives you almost full gear instantly which is incredibly soulless and you'll get curbstomped by people with 10+yrs of pvp experience anyway, or you don't and you get 1 shot by people who grinded for 1yr+. On the biggest servers like EuroAion you might have the fortune of running into similarly undergeared people every once in a while, but this is not the norm. You will feel like actual cannon fodder if you're a fresh max level and go to the castle sieges as well as you'll get one shot out of the blue pretty often, and you're expected fulfill your role as cannon fodder anyway to get your PvP gear currency.
>PvE experience
It's, fine I guess? Nothing revolutionary. Most of the content is pretty accessible, typically only the last 1-2 endgame instances of the expansion will want you to have strong gear. There is a decent amount of mechanical autism to the PvE as well if you dive into it (weaving, swap gear sets before and after pressing a certain button on assassin, etc) but otherwise it's all fairly straightforward trash clearing and then killing the bosses that might have a gimmick or two to worry about, and then hope you get some gear. There's 500 million quests and they're all bear asses/fetch quests/mini instances kind of slop, so the open world stuff is not very exciting. It does have the visual appeal of a 2008 AAA MMORPG so it can be nice to explore the big open zones even if they don't have anything other than KMMO quests and mobs to slay by the hundreds.

As far as versions go, 1.x is basically classic vanilla aion, flawed but it's the base game. 2.x added lots of pvp and was quite balanced, 3.x added lots of pve, 4.x is one of the golden ages with good things all around.
>>
>>2767867
Also even if you have a full party 6v1, you'll die to someone who's well geared. They'll either kill you all during the duration of their defense cooldowns or they built Magic Resist meaning most of your ccs, debuffs and magic attacks just don't land

Anon, gear-swapping was a core element of FFXI since the very start, all the way back in 2002.
Made the game considerably more interesting from a buildcraft perspective, but I'll stop here, as we've already had one thread-spanning schizo argument today.
>>
>>2767867
For a group of anon who've never played Aion before, which version would you recommend?
The draw of "muh classic experience" is always a consideration here, so the conversation naturally drifted towards 1.x servers as the main draw. But do you think opting for a 4.x one would lead to a better overall time for us for a two-week stay?
>>
>>2768349
it was an oversight the players abused and the developers gave in and started to design around it which was a mistake

the game would have benefited from some actual buildcrafting instead of that shit

Most people seem to be forgetting the reason for this thread. It's not going to be good games all of the time. We have had some good games, but even at the time, they were few and far between. We have purposefully chosen not to play the games people have kept on life support because they have existing threads and are too popular.

So what did anyone expect coming in? If you don't like the game we're playing, skip a couple weeks. It won't kill you. You can even go back to one of the games you enjoy and keep updating us on those adventures.
>>
>>2767949
Start the game, take a few weeks to hit level cap, do some dungeons, get solo ganked in the open world a few times for the quests that force you there, either buckle in for weeks of grind just to have a starter PvP set or swipe for it or strictly become a PvE player, grind grind grind.

Aion 1 is a lot more enjoyable when the server is fresh and everyone's starting roughly around the same footing but that's not a very common event.
>>2768356
4.x probably. It doesn't really make the older content feel meaningless or anything and it just has the most variety for both PvE and PvP players, also has some sane catch-up mechanics too.

This.
Gaining insight into which servers could pose a better time for us over others is highly desirable information. It's just server research, not being a "guide guy".

I don't get this weird obsession some anon here have with other people posting what they know about a game in the threads. I've seen it come up even for innocuous shit.
Knowledge dumping min/max guides on day one isn't great and shouldn't be done, yeah. But we're inevitably going to find useful and/or cryptic info on our own, either through self discovery, or being told such by one of the locals of the games we play.
Old MMOs were built on sharing information and passing it down to newer generations. Telling others what you've learned during your time playing isn't necessarily being a guide guy.
>>
>>2768837
I agree with this anon >>2769319
Server research should always be desired since it may make or break our visit. I know for sure our CoH visit would've been shit have we visited a more moderated server

>>
>>2769392
server information is not the same as infodumping game mechanics and meta strats, but some people are asking for these infodumps so they're to blame more so than the guide guy.
>>
>>2768671
i think there is a measured difference between purposefully voting for a bad time and saying you're doing so vs at least trying to curate or suggest good games that simply did not get a shot

i think the majority of players coming here *to stay* came in on a good game, because why would you see someone advertising loudly that they're about to play Aura Kingdom and join in unless you were joined at the hip to one private server for that game?

my mental image of this thread never had the avoidance of quality as a defining factor of it in the first place. if i had totally misread this place and we do in fact just want to wade through shit every 2 weeks... why do we have a vote? you could just add names to a wheel.

>>2768837
>>2769141
>>2769438
this is probably the most schizo part of the thread imo. actually, if we're dead set on wading through shit, does it really matter if someone knows *how* shit a game is already?
>>
>>2769319
>or being told such by one of the locals of the games we play.
the last time this happened we had people accusing the Nin devs of rigging the vote and curating the clan's experience
the second last time we ruled that argument out by deciding to vote for puzzle pirates on the week that the main shill would have missed most of it, but then locals actually DID come to our thread to try and recruit us under their flag

seems like a lose/lose, and if it's gonna be annoying to someone, i'd rather just have regular posters saying what they know instead of being compelled to hide it for in-group cred
>>
>>2769555
I'm trying to avoid getting everything spoiled for me so my experience can be mostly untainted. That's the same reason why I don't watch gameplay videos and vote purely by what I (think I) know already of a game and by screenshots.
A number of people are going to metagame regardless, because they're scared of fucking up their build or going into the game without knowing what's waiting for them, or maybe being left behind because they didn't follow the right strategy. There's also always the fear of 'not getting to experience the real game', since a lot of these shit MMOs, especially near their death, stuff 95% of their content into the endgame. Most of the endgame content presumably ends up being boring raid-log shit anyways, but still, there's FOMO going on here which may detract from the enjoyment directly or indirectly.
Some of the information we receive from knowers about e.g. guild proceedings and retarded weekly limits which you are supposed to fill out are valuable info that I appreciate.
It's just when the thread turns into a gamefaqs top tips thread and we have people in the guild chat constantly yapping away about the meta strats that I'm having trouble either filtering such messages out or following any discussion at all. I think it's similar for the anons who are vary of 'game guide' posters and players.

That's why I appreciate chat-GPTs posts in a way, they're clearly identifiable and I can chose to just not read them when I don't feel like following his ramblings.
>>
Theres a difference between recommending servers or factions and giving us meta information on how best to power level and best build our character.
>>
Being afraid of discussing strategies or tips on how to play is a weird take desu. Sharing information is and always was a core part of the mmo experience. If you want to play single player go ahead, no one is stopping you.
>>
>>2769319
I welcome guide shit when it's for stuff that you have to do right because the game doesn't provide you an opportunity to unfuck it but that's pretty rare. Sometimes you can't reset or you have to go for specific stats/skills to be able to progress to a second class or stuff like that. Very few of these games have proper minmax guides anyway. They're so obscure.
>>
I've been a "guide guy" because my childhood involved playing many of these games so I already have the knowledge.
I just enjoy talking about my favorite games and sharing information, but I keep it to myself unless someone asks for it.
>>
I liked it better when guild names were decided on the day of the game. It's more convenient to have one ready to get the guild started as soon as possible, but it was always more fun to sit around discussing names to add to the poll before making one and made it easier to theme one around the game.

The whole "guide guy" shit is very recent. As of like May or so. Around Puzzle Pirates. You never saw it before then, and in fact I feel like if some of the stuff we were informed about back earlier in the year was happening now, would have gotten "guide guy" accusations.

E.g. Toontown
>"By the way Toontown rewritten doesn't have a guild or party system. I'd recommend we play on Corporate Clash as it has that"
>GUIDE GUY GUY GUIDE GUY GUIDE GUY
Or Wakfu
>"By the way, one of the Wakfu servers asks for your phone number, I recommend we play on this server, as the only other option is French only."
>GUIDE GUY GUIDE GUY GUIDE GUY

We had none of that shit before as we took it as it is, information to help decision making.

I enjoyed Nin. It wasn’t perfect, but I went in expecting a terrible game and ended up pleasantly surprised. I’d rank it in A tier.

>>2775173
if that's the case, shouldn't we opt for the official servers where they've sped up the leveling process?
>>
>>2775812

It'll be worse than latale. The game basically stops existing after 5.0
>>

nah, official classic is not really classic, it's something else entirely
>>

yeah but if 5.0 is the problem, gameforge doesn't have that patch yet. it's stuck in 4.X
>>
>>2777203
>>2776724
>>2776667
nta but aion classic is basically like the classic+ of aion 1. It also has its own original and exclusive classes and expansions and content, aside from the base launch version and 2.x it doesn't really strictly follow in the footsteps of aion 1.

That being said it's not a bad choice for an official server, the last time I played the main complaints were hordes of bots but maybe it'll be fun to kill them.
>>
>>2777466
So we probably should shtick to it then, more content is always better and give more anons playstyles to try.

Is this version heavily p2w or we can progress fine?
>>
>>2777807
There used to be a monthly freemium thing but they removed it recently in favor of a 1 time purchase, which it looks like it just enables trading, mailing and marketplace use.
https://aiononline.plaync.com/en-us/board/classicnotice/view?articleId=691d14a2e2c9472886f579d5

I haven't kept up past the first year or so of aion classic, but aside from that, people p2w via RMT usually. I think the only thing that was nice to have from the official cash shop were auto-loot pets but you can arrange transactions for that kind of thing in global chat

There's also aion classic NA vs aion classic EU, I'm not sure what it's like now but it was usually that EU had more players but was a bit behind on the classic patch cycle (KR>NA>EU). NA classic aion got its economy ultra kneecapped in week 1 of launch which didn't happen to EU.
>>
>>2777880
>enables trading, mailing and marketplace use.
not having this shit by default is a big nono

I'm not gonna pay for 2 weeks and I'm not gonna play without basic features
>>
>>2778006
these are basically freemium servers yeah. one of the official servers also put an exp debuff on you until you purchase an item from the cash shop. best stay the fuck away from any official cashgrabs lest we want another Florensia
>>
>>2778006
>>2778027
The issue is that most private servers also "paywall" a few functions in a way ot another, the russian server I used to play also had similar issues, dunno about the big ones, but pservers for korean games usually have pseudo cash shops (Similar to the Icarus server we played) or they dump you with shit that trivializes the game and rushes you to max level, the crowd that touches these games craves one of those thingies, sadly
>>

there were multiple servers already posted here that advertised "no p2w", I mean someone could just test these for basic functions and whether they boost to cap as you say

We want to avoid this precisely to avoid another LaTale situation. And nobody is going to do meaningful pvp in 2 weeks unless there's equalized modes making grinding it out pointless.
Would be fine with trying a 3.x or 4.x server but all the options are catchup or pvp servers.

I believe Tiamat (1.9) sounds the best since it's revamped questing exp already while also incentivizing grouping with epic mobs, dungeons etc. gear drops are also relevant for progression (I think it was blue and yellow gear) while latter versions invalidate it for token gear you buy from NPCs while also being solo heavy.
If it's true to it's name, it's the version the Aion Classic forum fought for over what bastardized version of 2.0 they got instead.

>>
I chose the most populated servers because in a PvP-focused game, it’s no fun playing on an empty one.
I rated Tiamat the lowest since it apparently runs a very old, grindy version, and I don’t want to spend two weeks just trying to get out of tutorial-ville.

In CoH I voted Thunderspy even if it's a very low pop server because CoH is a PvE game and, due to the nature of the character creator, I didn't want to risk some anons getting banned.
I don't see this risk in Aion.
>>
>>2785371
keep in mind this is purely through reading player anecdotes and a bit of highschool nostalgia, but yeah 1.9 is often touted as the best version for a classic experience
>>
>>2785374
the thing is we are not going to engage in any actual pvp. it's going to be a humiliating curbstomp against players hundreds to thousands of hours ahead in the gear treadmill.
take for example RFO, we did a freshstart server a few days behind and still got swept 1v8 against random streamers. if we're going to do aion might as well pick a server that maximizes the pve experience

>the thing is we are not going to engage in any actual pvp. it's going to be a humiliating curbstomp against players hundreds to thousands of hours ahead in the gear treadmill.
no doubt about it, that's a general rule in any pvp mmorpg and it's even more true in asian games.
Still, I didn't vote for Aion but, since it won, I want to experience the game as it was meant to be. it's not a pve focused game, I expect the pve part to be even more disappointing than pvp.
>>
>>2785386

Sometimes it's the officials that have the worst gibs. For example TERA at one point added a weapon you level up as you go which invalidated ALL the weapons found in the world before level cap. Many long running games have been patched so much that in the process it destroyed the intended experience whether they meant to do it or not. Aion is definitely one of these games. What the experience was pre 2.0 and what it becomes later on are very different and then there's whatever the fuck it is in the "Classic" version.

I think this is what actually annoys me more than the "guide guys" basically because the "guide guy" stuff is just people giving us the most basic ass info so we can make an informed decision.

Whats actually annoying and I think what people are actually attributing to "guide guys" are locals who come into the thread. Which we've had a lot of lately and has probably burned people out:
>The people from Puzzle Pirates coming into the thread trying to spread drama nobody cares about and begging us to be in their coalition clan
>Nin Online devs coming in to "take feedback" and again more drama spreading from locals
>City of Heroes inter-private server drama wars, again devs "taking feedback" and thread schizos

It was kinda funny that locals discovered us in Puzzle Pirates, but now its old, especially with devs getting involved and trying to "help" us

>>2786651
Because they can't help ourselves. Also dumb names
"MMOdvengers" or "AnonGuild" doesn't help.
Nin case was alright, we reached out to people they liked us, and then a few digged and found this thread, same with Pirates
>>
>>2786690
I feel like due to the nature of Thunderspy they'd have caught wind of us anyways.
>>
>>2786687
One of Nin's GMs and Pixel artist is literally one of us, dude played a few games with us and all that, when suddenly 30+ niggas showed up in game speaking in 4chan lingo, he just checked the board and saw that we were playing, simple as
>>
>>2786687
I was under the impression one of the mmoders was a regular player there and it they got informed somehow or it came naturally. the dev being from 4chan was a weird one
>>
>>2786711
I don't think our guild master told his friends about it, at least not during our first days, he literally got PK'ed a few times by his own guild.mates, kek. I feel it was mostly the GM knowing us and spreading the word
>>
I will be honest with you guys, but being approached by the locals make the experience much better in my opinion, the games I disliked the most were the barren wastelanda were all we got was apathetic fuckers afking in the main town. Love the bants.
>>
>>2786690
Pirates was just stumbling upon an anon who was already an active player so that was pretty funny, plus combined with puzzle pirates anon here. But he couldnt play until week two.
>>
>>2786728
>>2786707
>>2786711
I didnt play Nin but how did the pvpers react? Were they suddenly scared of you or did they target you more?
>>
>>2786728
I really wish he hadn't. locals coming on to the threads arguing about meta shit no one cares about like an extended forum was annoying
>>
>>2786754
So LaTale then
>>
>>2786754
I think it depends on the local. I agree if its just a local who doesn't know who we are and the interaction is entirely in game and they think we're newbies and they show us around its quite cool. But its annoying if they start coming into the thread IMO because every time they bring in years old discord drama that I don't care about e.g. City of Heroes and to an extent Nin, or in the case of that Puzzle Pirates guild leader want to recruit us as a personal army for some clan war.

Like in the case of City of Heroes right now. Yesterday I teamed up with a local and afterwards he showed me his other characters (The Coomer Mastermind if anyone else was there) and it was a funny interaction to see his library of characters. That stuff I like. But the whole Homecoming vs Thunderspy drama that was happening in the thread, couldn't give a fuck.

I think my fave local interaction was Star Wars Galaxies picture day where one of us went Empire but the server was heavily dominated by Rebel areas, so everywhere we went the guards were trying to take this player down. Then when we were by starport to take us off planet and some local just arrived, then the guards noticed our Empire player and started attacking us, then the local reveals himself as a force user out of nowhere, starts fucking up the guards with force powers and shit.
>>
>>2786754
I think what anon means is he prefers it being more organic, or ingame. The games he mentions had our presence spread around in discords and reddits. It's much more sovl when we have games where locals are completely confused why 25 fresh players appeared suddenly and now they're trying to help us out.
>>
>>2786807
I think this is the issue with locals coming into the threads for me. They over estimate my capacity to care about some drama that happened four years ago.

i honestly dont even think there was an influx of nin-online players in these threads or that anyone other than the GM and our guild leader knew about it.
i was just genuinely interested in the history of the playerbase since their behavior shaped some of the mechanics/maps/factions in the game so i posted about what i learned and asked about it regularly.

>>
>>2786836
>Presence being spread in discord and reddits

Where? I was playing Nin quite a lot, made tons of deals, had a player shop and raided a bit with people.
No one knew who tf "The Ninjers" were, I think most of the time is people overstating what were doing or the few cases of one or two niggers saying "eyyy I know you" and making it all about themselves.
The whole shtick got debunked when we got treated as some random streamer party in our second week pic day, and in the first, everyone that mattered was away partaking into some Mist X Rogue nin event, even our "insider GM" said he had more important things to do than humor us back then
>>
This is one of those character creators that takes way too long because there's too many options. Just for hair there's 60 options and you gotta click through them one by one you can't skip.
>>
>>2786896
I was also doing this, again, most of the discussion done here were merely anons researching stuff and talking about what they learned while exploring and chatting with the locals.

I also learned that a good chunk of the info we got was outdated or straight up false. The Rogue Nin decable wasn't even a thing, they were always a jobber clan

>>
>>2788129
I think most people will agree that official servers are often the worst choice, and rates are best when they're mildly higher, like 2x or 4x.
It's not a universal rule though, it depends on the game.
>>
>>2788162
could try and whitelist it on a firewall or any antivirus, idk just throwing ideas since I'm still trying to download
>>
>>2788129
the project tries to avoid p2w first and foremost, but sometimes that isnt an option, then game versions closest to vanilla with minimum custom content. midrates as >>2788174 said especially for korean grinders. I do not know if they've tried any highrate servers yet.
>>
>>2788129
Private servers are chosen mostly to dodge ftp/ptw mechanics
>>
>>2788129
Official servers tend to be a last resort when no other options are available.
We usually gravitate towards whatever is closest to a "midrate" server relative to the grind in question, which could mean anywhere from ~3x to ~20x depending the title.
Although with the current game, Aion, we're stuck at 1x rates due to selecting a v1.9 server. We'll see if this comes back to bite us later.

It will, we should have picked a 3x server

Bandages cost almost nothing. Buy a bunch and use one if you're missing ~30% health after a fight.

I noticed the server has some sort of autolearn for new skills. Scout got a bunch at level 5 which made fighting a lot easier.

Remember to bind yourself to the new stones you come across so you're not sent too far when you die.

Whats funny is they clearly elaborated that they meant the Thunderspy discord, and that theres no mmod discord. Because what they were referring to was a Thunderspy dev complimenting our outfits and someone asked "How do they know what we looked like? Are they spying on us right now?" and Assgr said "No I posted a screenshot of us in the discord" and someone, I presume you, said "There's an mmod discord?" and Assgr said "No the Thunderspy discord. I posted a screenshot there" and then someone, I think again you was like "Assgr is in the Thunderspy discord! Interacting with the locals"

And you know all this, and what assgr meant, and yet you still posted this to spread schizo conspiracies.

I think the most annoying thing about the /v/ thread every time we play a new game is the whining and stubborn refusal to play with us because its not exactly to their specifications. Usually the server choice but other things too
>Waaahhhh why are you playing this Wakfu server and not the other one which requires your phone number?
>Wahhhhh why are you playing SWG Restoration and not Sentinels of the Old Republic or Empire in Flames or Legends?
>Wahhhhh why are you playing on Thunderspy and not Homecoming when Homecoming has more people?
>Wahhhh why are you playing villains not heroes
>Wahhhh why are you playing Elyos not Asmos
>Wahhhh why are you playing Tiamat? Dead server!!!

And the answer to all of these is always
>It won the vote
If they wanted the result to be different, they should actually actively participate and actually vote otherwise.
>>
>>2790365
They're just /v/ tourists who have no intention of playing anyways, they just see the OP post, decide to write a post complaining usually to ragebait and move on. If they had any intention of playing they'd have voted beforehand.

If you check the threads here of past games, they're still necrobumped by random people shitting on our server choice or whatever. They're not even aware that we're no longer playing. They don't care, they just see the thing that they don't approve of and decide to shit on it. Thats all it is.
>>
>>2790365
You could argue the same thing about people in this thread.
All doom and gloom and hardly any posts about playing the fucking game
>>
>>2790389
Because the people playing the game are just playing the game and not in the thread. This will always happen. See all the complaints about City of Heroes earlier in this thread. They think if they tantrum hard enough, people will drop the game.
>>
>>2790389
it's always the same song and dance
>whining because favorite game didn't win
>whining because favorite server didn't win
>whining because faction x didn't win
all but point 3 could be fixed if people actually put effort and shilled their choices, but nah they gotta sit and complain about it
>>
>>2790243
Different anons, different opinions, I hate barren servers because they often fail to give you a glimpse of what the game felt like back when it was live.
The only zero pop game I enjoyed was Hellgate, but that one was fully instanced and felt more like a Diablo II server than a proper MMO.
>>
>>2790401

Not entirely true, just the effect of having all posts go to a thread dedicated to the game I guess. All fun posts move away and this thread just gets used for polls and schizoposting.

I shilled my choices a ton. Told you fuckers we should have picked one of the 3x/5x servers with a bit better pop, but you retards kept complaining about non existent malware in the anti-cheat, when the Hiverz launcher itself already trigger a bunch of WinDefender reactions.
I am playing because I always give the server a try, so my complains can get a better basis on which they stand.

Taking account the guildies numbers today, and the number of people voting, we can safely assumed a clique of ill intentioned anons voted Tiamat to lock us into a shit server on purpose, only to not play said shit server

which server were you shilling for? I don't see anyone saying to go 3x/5x until after the complainers started going at it once everyone started. people were voting based on limited information and decided tiamat was the least shitty of choices

I still don't get why so many anons are so afraid of high skill content, a bunch of anons avoid raids, avoid dungeons, avoid pvp and they don't RP, so what the fuck do they want to do in a MMO? Kill bears til max level?
I still don't get why we expend so much of our final hours taking pics rather than making a fuckass party and doing some content together to leave with a bang. Pics are fine, but some of us want play

>>
>>2790431
I think there's a few anons who solo all day every day. I remember a few instances where people wouldn't join a group even when asked.

For me it's a scheduling issue most of the time. I don't have time to play all of the games and I'm often online when not that many others are online.

I really like dungeons and even the occasional pvp. Haven't really had the opportunity to raid in anything.

>>2790441
There are. First one is at level 16 from what I saw from the icons on the map.
>>
>>2790365
hello yes, i stayed up to date with the thread, asked questions, and tried to vote in the best interest of the people who would play.
all my choices lost, though i also didnt really give a shit about the faction desu.
i honestly have no idea why someone would want to vote for a 0-pop server for a game like this.

But on the other hand, maybe it's different than nin-online, where it is possible to close the level/gear gap through skill and numbers.
>>
>>2790404
This. Its usually the same people saying it multiple times and it makes it seem like more demand. Sometimes its unintentional and they just keep repeating but sometimes its intentional to make it seem like more people want it.
>>
>>2790424
My PC, got a windows defendee pop up when it installed, probably a false positive, but the same stands for the other servers.
>>2790429
I was shilling for everything else than Tiamat/Classic.
America, Euro and Next would be way better contenders for our visit, specially Euro and Next due to their better rates, faster content and better pop.
You fuckers also got baited by "muh gank", most of the multi faction zones are most akin to CoH Hamidon warzone or the Rikiti spaceship, yes you can pvp there, but no leveling is happening there, it's just mat farming and the pathway which you use to instances, a huge bulk of the leveling happens in safe zones, and the pvp heads prefer fighting in the pvp arena because they have better movement there, specially the niggas which enjoy the flying combat
>>
>>2790416
The trouble I've had downloading and launching has been far worse than any anti-cheat on any other server IMO.

This is how bad the Hiverz launcher is. Also the guild was formed like 2 hours ago. You're making shit up and have not played the game at all.
>>2790431
Same with you, which is most likely the same person. We did dungeons and raids frequently in CoH with everyone online participating. We killed a world boss during those final hours in that game. We do group content very often on photo days.

You're flat-out making shit up and have zero credibility.
>>
>>2790431
> avoid raids, avoid dungeons
Thats all we did in CoH, hell we had posts calling anons to join group content.
> avoid pvp
I remember at least one anon in Nin talking about wanting anons to "git gud and start fighting" or "Rolling sand to take over the server". Thing is, while that fantasy of entering a pvp server is fun the reality is you are going to get raped by people who have old accounts, usually with cash shop stuff or gear that would take us the whole 2 weeks of poopsocking to acquire.
A pker in a pvp server isn't someone looking for a honorable fight, hes looking to kill players by any means necessary. Nin started getting really tiresome the final days because people get more aggressive once you start reaching level cap, it's not fun and there is hardly anything you can do because the guy you're going against literally has more numbers than you
>>
>>2790453
Euro was offputting to me because it was a catchup server with OP beg gear. I think people immediately dismissed Next due to kernal level anticheat and being SEA based, I would've definitely voted for it if not for the anti-cheat desu
>>
>>2790461
Because I thought people would know? Because I am not terminally only to stay here all the time? I already pointed that pvp was not the issue, that we could play the game fully pve without issue, since there's proper dungeons for everyone
>>
>>2790416
>Taking account the guildies numbers today, and the number of people voting, we can safely assumed a clique of ill intentioned anons voted Tiamat to lock us into a shit server on purpose, only to not play said shit server

This happened with the server and faction votes for CoH too. The numbers for that were insane and definitely much less than actually played. I have a different theory in that I just think its one anon who really wants a specific server or faction to win and they rig it by abusing the fact that strawpoll can easily dupe votes. We need a more secure voting system.

>>

It was pretty evident from the discussion in the thread that most anons had no fucking clue about Aion.
>>
>>2790473
how the fuck do you expect people who've never played a kmmo from early 2000s to know how a specific version plays from lvl 1. this is exactly what I'm talking about when people refuse to put effort into shilling and only negging and complaining when their choice doesn't get voted for
>>
>>2790477
Poll anon need to take the reins and start delivering tokens to people via email for server votes at least.
There is no reason to allow anyone to vote for the server, when there's a huge chance a bunch are just lurkers from /v/ who never played with us, nor have our culture

I've been out of the loop since I'm going through a lot of single player games so I'm unable to play this title, but there's something everyone should have known before starting. Depending on the version you chose, you may be locked to content that requires pvp currency to buy specific items from the battlefield npc. If you cannot buy this, you wont be able to progress. This game like many upcoming PvE mmorpgs from the list, will require extensive research to choose the appropriate servers. Little details such as this will halt the experience for the games.

>>
>>2790516
>Depending on the version you chose, you may be locked to content that requires pvp currency to buy specific items from the battlefield npc
There's abyss points as the main currency, which the later the version of aion it is, the more you get this "PvP currency" through PvE as the majority source. In v1.9 you will get more than enough to buy the stuff you need just through regular PvE.

Then there's bronze/silver/gold medals, you can buy them off the auction house from people who got them through PvP dailies and PvP sieges.

But in v1.9, you won't have to worry about it, none of you are hitting cap in 2 weeks on 1x rates, much less buying medal-gated gear.

I don't think the issue is Aion per see but Korean MMOs as a whole, Icarus and LaTale also had pretty nasty Anti-cheats, it's not that they are needed, but those games are built around those, korean devs are deeply traumatized by early Lineage 1 days, and thus a whole industry came to be around those busted anti-cheats
>>

I think Next died in the vote immediately because it was advertised for using the exact same kernal-level anticheat Euro uses. Aion America apparently also uses one.
Not much of a point of picking another dead-server with the other Hive server either.
This leaves Classic as the final choice, but as mentioned, unless you buy premium they cripple you and take away basic features like trading.

Anon, we're talking about 2000s era KMMOs here. All of them were full of holes, even the ones released into the early 2010s.
That said, the majority of Aion's private servers willingly including some form of invasive anti-cheat is moreso telling of how shit that game's community probably is, if going to such lengths is seen as a requirement. Unless the game's anti-cheat is just baked into the core code itself and can't be sidestepped or removed, which is unlikely.
>>

Turdworlders don't understand concepts of moral or honor and they are used to living in dystopias where corruption is rampant and you can pay to get through anything even on the poorfag level. In the west you gotta be a multi-millionaire before you start getting ahead with money so the normal people have a different world view.

You can't fly in most zones, so dunno about that bud
>>
>>2792178
This hurts me in a personnal level, but you are kinda right.
But the issue isn't even the country those plays hail itself, is that since the game enables them to do such thing, it will attract players who are into it.
Aion 2 Taiwan biggest whales are all euros and bongs
>>
>>2792329
I doubt that, there's always some trust fund chinks maxxing out their characters in Korean MMOs on every single server.
>>
>>2792300
I thought the big draw for Aion was the flying gimmick, why did people even play it in its heyday?
>>
>>2792414
did Aion even have a heyday? Always felt like a bit of an also-ran among dozens of middling MMOs shat out at the peak of the genre
>>
>>2792414
The market was just different at the time and games like Aion and WoW were actually impressive.
Can't explain how WoW still lives today though.
>>
>>2792422
>and games like Aion and WoW were actually impressive.
I simply cannot consider Aion to be on the level of WoW. Boot up any vanilla WoW private server today and it's pretty easy to see the good parts of WoW. From level 1 it sets itself apart solely with how smooth it plays. Taking a look at Aion through that context it makes you wonder how did anyone like this shit.

Even the little things like how the camera weirdly snaps about when you start holding right click lower the quality of the experience. It's such a basic thing but it hasn't been fixed in this server that's using a client that's way newer than the release version of the game. It lacks that sort of polish and that goes for like all other MMORPGs than WoW. The games got better about it over the years but they're still struggling to compete with a game that released 21 years ago.

Before anyone loses their shit I'm not claiming that WoW is a perfect game. It has a lot of issues in every major version. It's simply the polish level of that game that exceeds everything else in the genre. Of course the huge marketing campaigns played a big part in it exploding in popularity like it did but it's the quality of programming and animation in the game that I believe got people to stay. Why some people still play it on live servers? I'm not entirely sure but some of it has to be sunk cost. For those who have played for years it has become a part of their life. For me it has been WoW Classic, SoD and most recently CoA private server that got me back into it for a bit.
>>
>>2792473
Yeah, just compare the starting zones from worlo to Elyos/Asmodian ones, Aion zones feel pretty generic and disconnected, while worlo has better things going, from quests requiring you to from a fucking pilmgrinage from half a continent, to unconvering a conspiracy that deletes a npc from the map. I also think worlo got the fantasy feel better, Poetia looks like your regular forest map, compare that to Durotar, Brill, Mulgore or the Nelf starting zone and you get a whiplash in quality.
>>2792414
Nyo, Aion flying is best summarized as being a mix of TBC Outlands flying and Genshin glider movement, it's limited to a few specific vertical zones and your flying controls are gimped on purpose, if you want to be more specific, you hover, rather than you fly.

Aion selling point was always the pvp, it was TERA's/BnS pvp before those games were a thing. You will notice how a few skills feel weird when used against mobs, it's because the original intent was to for them to be pvp skills. All in all, it's a Lineage with more budget, but somehow it's worse than Lineage
>>
>>2792414
>>2792491
>Icarus has a better flying gimmick than Aion
Icarus bwos, I think I judged you all to hastily. I feel Aion might take the cake in the worst game we played this year
>>
>>2792473
idk man, it's the same shit, no arbitrary subjective feeling of polish is going to change them being the same slop
>>
https://youtu.be/v2ug25nsrHc

And it's the same with so many other MMOs. The worlds in them aren't worlds. They're designed to be a container for the mobs that exist to be killed. Simply the way Elwynn Forest has animals running about the forest with no greater purpose makes it more soulful than anything else.

>>2792507
It is things like polish and world building that set these games apart from each other. Of course if you break it down and look at them on paper it's all the same, WoW or whatever else with WoW-like questing you go around you kill a bunch of mobs for a quest and you turn it in. In combat you press buttons following GCD and cooldowns. It's the exact same thing. But when you play them it doesn't FEEL the same. That's where some games fail and other succeed. If it feels good to play then people will play it. WoW felt better to play so more people played it.
>>
>>2792524
I have no emotional investment in blizzard products, so I can only see and feel the game for what it actually is, which is an extremely boring pile of shit. Just like Aion, which also has plenty of world building by the way.
Those things don't actually matter I think, if they did then there would be plenty of other games that succeeded, the main factor in WoWs success is just having a cult-like following who don't care about the actual quality of the game but only the fact that blizzard made it.
>>
I feel like Allods had more soul than Aion and it was a carbon copy of wow
>>
>>2792552
Then explain why retail is a barren wasteland, with most players going to classic or SoD servers rather than buying the newest xpacs?.
Older worlo was better anon, it's a different taste for sure, but there were a reason it eclipsed most MMOs at the time, worlo raiding, exploration and gearing feels better than most of what was pumped back then, the only games which could fight it, were ones which featured a different progression or had something which made them stand out, like SWG and CoH, which were killed not by numbers, but due to shareholders and CEOs stupidity.

CoH itself was killed by NCsoft because it wasn't "korean enough"
>>
>>2792575
I do not think that is true my man, retail is still the biggest.
>>
>>2792552
>Those things don't actually matter I think
You think wrong.
> if they did then there would be plenty of other games that succeeded
They're not as good as you think.

>so I can only see and feel the game for what it actually is
Oh believe me I can see it. That's why I can separate what made it good and what sucks about it and I can admit that the good parts made it stand above the others in the genre. Your bias is strong and prevents you from looking at it objectively.
>>
>>2792588
You think wrong, WoW is not as good as you think.
>>
>>2792570
Why so? I wasn't around but a bunch of nonnies were saying it had the same issues as the current Aion server: Ghost town, janky server, low progression

I think we should play AQWorlds before it gets defunct, a sequel to it will launch soon, and since it's basically the same game, running in a better engine and better models, it might get buried or turned into an offline game like it's RPG flash predecessors.

Man, some of you are fucking nasty. Had to take the ninjers video down because some of you were salivating to harass me. It just took one guy to mention the discord tab appearing in the /gchat to get some autists examinating the exact pixel of the servers I has on and then shit stirring all the places I happened to be a member of. Didn't even notice this detail slip past through during editing and seemed the niggas who contributed to the 80 views also didn't notice or didn't care either.

I hate bringing shit like this here, but it hurts a tad that even when the guild is empty there is people lurking in the guild for an excuse to bully me out of project, for whatever reasons. Think I will take a break, loved chatting with the anons here and there, but seems there is tons of people hellbent on making me miserable.

>>2795681
Honestly the damage wasn't even that severe, they just got into public servers I was, so it was just weirdos trying to spamming the place or finding someone with a matching pfp, I think the actual gutpunch is because it probably came from people that I found "reasonable", since they were the only ones online at the time and the whiplash came this fast, both there and in the thread.

Like seriously dude, I am just a nonename fucker, what those goobers want?
>>2795685
I think that was the consensus from the people who cared to watch the vid, and a redflag to the ones at /gchat.

Gonna try to revise the footage from the ninjers vid and cut that part at least
>>
This is what you get for playing MMOs instead of doing crimes. You are not welcome here.
>>
>>2795701
I don't think the shit stirring over the video nearly three games later is warranted. The discord part being left in looks bad all things considering since it looks like there is a discord clique after all and adds fuel to schizo anons fire. Schizo anon is schizo anon though and they will always be a mentally ill homo. The video itself was fun.
>>
>There is no clique

Hey schizo-kun!
If the project and the people involved really were as bad as you say, you would've quit and forgotten about it long ago. Instead, you've spent 2 years of your life obsessing over it. Retarded as you may be, even you realize that the problem is you.
Lie, samefag, stalk, bully all you want, you're never going to convince yourself. Every time you post, stalk people, open this thread, you're proving to everyone, and to yourself, you're a retarded faggot.

I've only ever seen one of these names. Which kinda shows how behind schizo anon is on mmod, and how little he plays. They've probably not shown up in months.
>>
>>2795712
Yeah but he also took Assgr saying "I posted a screenshot in the discord" when they blatantly meant the Thunderspy discord because it was in response to Thunderspy devs complimenting our outfits and someone asking how they know what we look like, as 100% confirmation that theres a mmod discord.

Its literal delusion.
>>
Seriously though, almost all the names you refer to, I've never seen before and I only joined a few MMOs ago. Is all this schizo and seethe over people who haven't even played in months/a year? Who are these people you're all naming? I've never seen anyone called Electrocutie, Fent, or Trongler
>>
>>2795792
Some mentally ill retard somehow got broken by people having fun playing MMOs long ago. This loser has been shitposting in the threads in search of his "revenge" ever since. Take pride in knowing that seeing you have fun broke that maggot so badly that he had to go on a quest to sperg the rage out of his system. Your video was great and it's great to see anons filming our mmodventures, just remember to protect yourself when editing that stuff.
>>
>>2795787
It really shouldn't have to be said but I guess it does. Anons shouldn't be posting the mmoadventure doings to the public discords of the games being visited. It ruins the organic experience once the local residents of a game learn of the group's existence.
>>
it's really a tragedy that a lot of games, including aion, are kneecapped by incredibly poor server choices. i think the vote should end a few days earlier so people can really take the time to explore the server choices.

its the same anon that keeps complaining about there being a clique and players reusing the same names throughout each different mmo.. a clique that literally any anon can join at anytime by just showing up to each mmo and using a similar name and now theyre part of that same clique (its not really a clique because theres no discord we just like to see who are regulars but newcomers are always welcome else there wouldnt be a /v/ thread every time we move onto a new game)
>>
>>2796355
But their examples of "clique members" are people who haven't played one of these in months, some over half a year. If he's gonna schizo out about a clique he should at least actually play the MMOs with us so that he can update his conspiracy theory roster with people who actually play now, not people who haven't been seen in 6+ months
>>
>>2796350
Why lash out at that Anon? Could just be one of the ones you (you)'d or could be Seph. Either way no proof that Seph is schizo anon. Even someone hating on BRs isn't proof. A lot of people hate BRs and understandably so. Most are gigaretarded.
>>
The good news is that we can probably safely play Mabinogi now
>>
>>2795795
He's explained his origin story before which is he was playing one of the earlier projects and typed in the thread "Invite me to the guild" and since nobody responded he's decided theres a "clique" he didn't whisper anyone in the game either I guess.

I'll give you a hint since you're too thick-skulled to comprehend how you're conflating multiple different anons and events: you're getting succesfully baited time and time again since around Seal Online by like 2-3 different master baiter troll anons because it's easy as fuck, predictable and kinda funny. This also results in people dogpiling in to defend you, so there's even more chaos and hugbox posting in the wake of it, which fills "the schizo" with joy.
I usually don't engage in the bants and me getting annoyed at your "I'm tired and can't read" shtick during CoH does not mean I'm the great orchestrator behind it all.
I usually wouldn't bother to reply, but since we're at the "naming and shaming" part of this ordeal and the master trole brought some gay soft doxxing into the mix, I feel like I need to speak.

It also wasn't the master trole who spilled the beans about Nin-anon in the game chat . He just picked up on it and used his autism super powers to rustle some jimmies.

aqworlds won't ever go defunct unless AE goes bankrupt (not that it's an argument against playing it, it's a great game). They're still developing the original adventure quest. Hell Mechquest is actually dead dead and they still have the servers up if you want to play it. The only AE game to ever go offline was herosmash, which funnily enough was a capeshit mmo lol
