Is there anything in that cesspool? Dare I ask, anything free to play that's not garbage?

stick to puzzle, racing, shooter games
they are the only ones with some gameplay that will entertain you
for paid games, i recommend picking up ex astris
i enjoyed it

kinda like old final fantasy, turn based combat, has 5 playable characters, setting is also interesting
decent enough for 10 bucks
quality is great, soundtrack's really good too

also look out for heartopia and roco kingdom
heartopia is a cozy life sim game like animal crossing with a really cute artstyle
roco kingdom is pretty much genshin x pokemon, and doesnt have gacha
both will probably release next year

It seems to me that a real RPG defeats the purpose of mobile gaming, which is condensed gameplay on the go. One time I tried Crying Suns, which is technically still just a roguelite, but I wasn't amused by the amount of text to read through (the tiny font didn't help) - just get to the point already.
