We're all familiar with self-insert characters, but there's the type that goes even further and just hides their eyes completely. A few gacha games go this route and I can't help but wonder: It's obviously nothing new, and the tropes been around for a while, but does anyone actually prefer eyeless protagonists?I understand why some people like self-inserts, and why devs put them in, but I don't think I've ever talked to anyone who specifically wanted less facial features on their MC. Is it a CN/JP thing? Not hating, but just curious if this is something people want, or if it's just something that devs/artists THINK people want and nobody's really said anything against it.
Characters with full face covering like Arknight's Doktah don't count, because you don't get the same pseudo uncanny valley feeling with them.I just remember looking up some cinematics from Snowbreak, seeing their eye-less MC in the same shot as one of the girls with full face features, and thinking how jarring that was.
They don't need to be shown at all. Especially the cringelord on the left.
They're for mentally ill incels
>>1582700smalldickchinks dont want to see something frightening like regular eyes with blue or green irisesthe covered eyes make it possible for these dicklet slanteyedcels to self-insert as the male protagonist
sensei is the only good self-insert for being a full-on pov mc for once
>>1582710>>1582834TheseTo anyone with a modicum of pattern recognition, that shit in the OP looks like an NTR doujin
>>1582700It really hammers home just how much they all look alike. Then again being a faceless nameless being that everyone relies on and is not important yet the most important person in the setting will always be funny to me when it comes to self-insert characters. They trade appearance for important I guess and it's funny.
>>1582700Good thing the one in the right doesn't appear in the game at all, it's all first person view, if you only play the game and don't look for other content on reddit/chans whatever the you will bever see it.

>>1582700Eversoul's MC has a face and even a 3D model, but it's barely used outside of two early story cutscenes and his face is always obscured in story/bond CGs.
>>1582882>Good thing the one in the right doesn't appear in the game at all, it's all first person viewNot true. Also, there's a CG in the most recent chapters of him punching someone.
>>1582867there's an equal amount of hyper-vanilla doujin that use the faceless mc, if they're not hiding the mc with pov.you're just a cuckold. like getting weird youtube recs because of your viewing history, your "patt reg" is just fatally biased.
>>1582700>I don't think I've ever talked to anyone who specifically wanted less facial features on their MC. Is it a CN/JP thing?>Not hating, but just curious if this is something people want, or if it's just something that devs/artists THINK people want and nobody's really said anything against it.It's much simpler than that; eyes are just a pain in the ass to draw. Therefore, if the protagonist's sole purpose is to serve as a self-insert for the player, then they don't need to bother drawing eyes on them. It occasionally happens across all SEA media works; no one speaks up about it because they don't care what the self-insert protagonist looks like, they're too busy admiring all of the cute girls.
I prefer a off-screen POV player character but eyeless is better than full featured.
>>1582700>>1582710Holy fuck, I thought it's just me. I was screaming for a way to change the appearance, and apparently you were stuck with that thing or without the psyduck hood.
>>1582700>Not hating, but just curious if this is something people want, or if it's just something that devs/artists THINK people want and nobody's really said anything against it.Because none of the audience cares about it and they understand it's just a placeholder. Only homo/women care because they don't have a background in male oriented manga/doujins/etc and don't understand that the faceless male is just a stand-in and he doesn't need eyes, sometimes he's portayed without a mouth or even nose because the character's job is to be there to be projected on by the male audience and a male audience doesn't care about many other features, they only care about actions. To care about how you look is such a female/homo thing and it's about vanity first and foremost. Most dudes just look at that guy and instantly recognize and accept >that's me, yup, okayand they never again care or ask questions about how the character looks, because it doesn't matter. That's why characters like Master Chief from Halo managed to become so popular despite being nothing more than a suit of armor and a voice.tl;dr female/homo audience can't look at male face and decide if they want to fuck him or not, engage attacking "le smalldicks" like an unhinged fujo freak>>1582790
