Hi /vmg/ I want to get a relatively budget friendly smartphone that's not apple. My requirements are that it must be able to run Monster Hunter Puzzles without issues and do basic phone stuff. I want to maybe dabble into other mobile phone games but otherwise I am not a picky customer just so long as it isn't an apple product and over 300 dollars
>>1617350For $300 you can easily afford a good Android. Prioritize RAM and CPU core speed. Most models have more expensive versions due to space but unless you need 50 billion aps full of shit you probably don't need to pay an extra $100 just for space.
>>1617410Any good recommendations? A lot of the Samsung's I've seen that are of interest to me have terrible reviews
Mine is an old 4GB Honor Play that I kept in good shape for years. Never ran into issues using the browser or while playing games. If I were to upgrade from the same series, I think I'd pick Honor 200 Lite or maybe Magic6 Lite.
>>1617442OnePlus has a good lineup in terms of specs and they're not too expensive. I wouldn't recommend Chinese phones but that's about it.
>budget friendly smartphonego for used/refurbished. you can get a pixel 7 refurb for sub 300 bucks

>>1617460OnePlus isn't as cheap as it used to be anon. The current new lineups are fucking expensive. Also most mobage take at least 40gb+ these days. Then again that's not too bad if you only decide to focus on one. Just checked oneplus and they are doing their sales they usually do it this time of year but yeah now is the perfect time to buy one otherwise it's not worth the price.
>>1617350Bump
I like the moto g power, retails $300 and usually goes for $200 new. Nothing fancy but it's good enough for me.
Maybe try Pixel 7a by Google? I checked on Amazon and it's sold for $340 new, or $230 renewed/refurbished. And it's a mid-2023 model so not that old. As a Google phone you get a nice camera, latest unbloated Android, and best security. The Pixels are considered to have a medium processor I think, not the best but not bad either, so you'll probably have no problem playing your game and using other apps on it. Make sure you get a non-carrier locked variant to not have any bad surprises.

>>1617442Honestly, the only options that fit your criteria are chinkshit, so if you don't care that your phone is full of ads and bloat, has ccp spyware, no updates whatsoever and is ugly to hell, xiaomi surely has options on the poco lineup.Don't know how the other brands are, but realme and oppo should have things in a similar price bracket.
>>1636429I now also found on Amazon Pixel 7 Pro for $265 refurbished, and Pixel 8 for $300/$310 refurbished (good/excellent respectively). I strongly recommend you to get a Pixel phone, they're very good and here's a good advertisement by a fellow anon for what you'd avoid by getting a Pixel:>>1650191Also I see many people online complaining about the fingerprint scanner on Pixels but I have one myself and it works extremely well for me with no issues.
>>1650675I've had a pixel 7a and the scanner was pure garbage, but on my new 9 pro xl it is somewhat good, still, something that's not under the screen will always be miles better
>>1650678First, I don't see any problem with having the fingerprint scanner under display, it's actually ideal IMO. Second, you probably have a bad screen protector that causes issues. I have Pixel 8 with a screen protector and optical fingerprint scanner and, as I said, it works extremely well for me, and I heard the Pixel 9 series have even better fingerprint scanners. OP shouldn't be discouraged because of this, it's a non-issue.
>>1650819The 7a is well known to be of worse quality than the premium models, this was known on release and remains known today, you literally haven't used one and you're just pulling bullshit out your arse.
>OP still won't be my girlfriendp-please...im at level 350 or something in puzzles i can be useful...
