I hope we get some cool pumpkachu stamped variants of 151 set cards, really wanna beef out the master set binder.
Hoping we get 151 pukachu, gastly evo line, cubone, Hypno, and zubat at a minimum.

One difference between modern and vintage, if you put your cards in set numbered order the good cards are at the back of the binder for modern but with vintage they're at the front.

Do you think I may have over some it a bit with these cosmos Holo energy variants? I think the page looks pretty bad ass ngl.
I also have the print error cosmos Holo energies, just not in binder since it's not an official variant. The page before it has the play nonholo and regular nonholo energies... Was debating on adding the gold energies from across S&V but would be wonky since the psychic energy is already in set order.

Honestly, not any more. It's a lot of "well i'll do TCG price for it" and if I wanted to pay TCG price, i'll just buy it from TCGP. Mostly buy from local marketplaces now. I got super into One Piece, which is why I left, even going so far as to start playing it (who here hype for OP07 prerelease?) Lost sight/desire for Pokemon for a bit but it recently sparked back up again. Mostly interested in textured mid-era stuff and trying to finish my WOTC holos. And you?
>>
>>56037867
I'm pretty close, like 55 cards away from completion, but sadly 10 of them are really rare, and 30 of the others are pretty goddamn rare.

Muh plug so to speak for Japanese booster boxes had a deal going on for 151 and Shiny Treasure ex, which if you bought at least two boxes you'd get a discount for each one so I went for it. I also threw in another box of Crimson Haze, since the first one did me well. I'm keeping one of the 151 boxes sealed for a rainy day. Will my decent luck persist or has it run out by now?

Lastly is Crimson Haze, got a second Infernape AR, which sucks but the other two are quite nice. The Lana full art was one of my personal chases for this set, so pretty happy with that. Nothing that fantastic from this opening but despite that its hard getting salty with Japanese boxes because of how cheap they are, how much nicer they look and how much less bulk you end up with. Probably gonna take a break for a while to help my wallet recover a bit, helps that Night Wanderer's SARs don't appeal to me much so the only interesting cards there are cheap as singles. Hopefully the next set will be better in that regard.

>>56038278
Nice pulls anon and grats on getting a Lana FA. I agree that japanese boxes have a better appeal not just in quality but also with how affordable they are now. Another plus for me is that you are guaranteed some fixed amount of hits for a japanese box (at minimum 1 sr, 3 ars, some holos) compared to english where the pull rates are all over the place due to people complaining about easy pull rates.

These were my pulls from my crimson haze box which I opened on release.

Great time to buy japanese singles since they've gone down in price. Though with new sets, it'd be better to usually way a few weeks to a month before buying singles.

>>
>>56039116
When eng boxes had great pull rates, certain people bitched about the "pull experience" and how higher pull rates devalue the cards and shit. This was during paldea evolved and obisidan flame. Come paradox rift onwards, pull rates have just become so bad that you should just buy singles rather than open sealed unless you have a gambling addiction.

Japanese shops are much better, and of course you are headed to Japan. Small shops will have some rare stuff you will never find here. If you do that then you better bring your 3DS, Switch, Pokemon GO so you can load up on some exclusives. Go visit the main Pokemon stores too. Best to bring a credit card or stack up on cash.

>Top loader binder for unlimited jungle commons
Holy fucking kek lmfao
>>
>>56041659
It's the entirety of Base Jungle Fossil and the 1999 BSP cards.
How am I supposed to just top load the Holos?
Any way in 60 years from now and all the commons are dinged and scratches I'll have minty ones.
>>
>>56041850
Those cards were worthless 20 years ago, they haven't changed since and not only that but inflation has also eaten them away as well. The total set won't command value either as only the holos fetch the price. But if you are doing it for sentimental value I mean that's fine and all, just strange.
>>
>>56041850
It's just crazy overkill. Using a robust sleeve and a side loading binder is more than enough. The extra level of a top loader binder just adds redundancy and reduces the visibility of your cards.

It's "fine" in that you won't be harming them. But the amount of damage over a binder+sleeves is minimal because damage rarely occurs in the first place. So now it's just a case of having a fuck-huge and heavy binder that only holds ~250 cards. Yes, the chance of damaging your cards in top loaders is lower than regular, but that chance was already very low. It's like comparing a 0.0005% chance to a 0.0001% chance.
>>
>>56041860
Collecting complete sets & collection uniformity.
But you wouldn't know, because you don't actually collect cards you just talk about them online.
>>
>>56041880
It's expensive too. Cards that are common unlimited return no value to justify the cost per sleeve. If you have something valuable you put it into a jewel case. Other stuff in hard sleeves or if you have a small collection. Favorites are put in double soft sleeves. Everything else can be put in normal card organizer. Storing the binders in a dry cool dark place is more important. Then there is humidity control which I would say is far more valuable.
>>
>>56041911
You retards aren't collectors you're invooosters.

You don't know anything about collection aesthetic, premium looks, and uniformity.

If those are all 10's well worth the price per sleeve you low income degens.
>>
>>56042044
>You don't know anything about collection aesthetic, premium looks, and uniformity.
>top loader binder

You are the one that has no knowledge of aesthetics and premium looks. You remind me of the people that put their whole collection atop of the cheapest, open-back, white, ikea shelves and call it some "display"
>>

>>
>>56041911
>It's expensive
Bros saying top loaders are expensive, wait until he finds out the price of cards.
Why are the poors & brokies in this hobby always chatting about it but then seethe whenever someone actually has cards or collections. The jealousy is unreal in collecting.
>>
>>56042076
Spreads of my favorite cards go in regular side loading binders with each card in a robust sleeve (not a top loader which is unnecessary and obscures the art).
Extremely expensive raw cards (4 figures and above in a psa10) go in magnetic cases
Any slabs I have stay where they are
Bulk gets sorted and placed into boxes to trade for store-credit to expand my collection.

Like I said, the chances are extremely slim to damage your cards in a binder.

Cards also don't curl over time. Assuming you didn't buy a cheapo binder off no-name-amazon or something, binders increase the dead-space on the inside of pages to accommodate for this.

Just finish some other collections and hope for the best, I guess.
>>
Question for people sending in cards to be graded; I looked up how much it costs to have cards grading, and then I saw a price tag for shipping as well, does the cost of shipping as well as the actual grading really justify the price? From what I read if you sent a moonbreon in to be graded you'd have to declare it in the $1500 or less catagory, which costs $74.99 and also hope that it ends up with a good grade. Does the price justify it? Selling it for say $1200, after factoring in the $75 to grade it, the cost of shipping, and ebay taking their cut you're only going to net maybe $1000 in profit. And that's a big assumption that you just happened to pull it out of a $6 pack and didn't buy any others or you ripped someone off with a favorable trade. Is it really worth it for the resale?

TCG wise, Team Rocket was my last real set at the time. Base Set and Base Set 2 were only so good and I got tired of pulling dupes. I didn't know much like I do now. I would have just saved my money and bought the cards I was missing. There was also the fact at the time Pokemon US was 2 years behind Pokemon JP. I just got tired of waiting. Then there was the great dropout during AG where everybody pretty much left. I have regrets for it. I should have just stuck to buying a few packs here and there to stay up to date. I picked Pokemon back up anime wise during DP. It took all the way until BW until I got back into TCG.

The value of the card hasn't changed. It's the exact same card.
And if you don't understand that then you are admitting that you just a greater fool willing to believe that some nebulous third party can ascribe a $$ increase to something by printing a label.

I did the same when completing my non-holo first edition Base Set. I cracked eight cards to put them in my binder. For just a little more, I was able to get a PSA 6, 7, or 8 rather than guessing with someone's 'Near Mint' listing. The worst was a PSA 5 for Super Energy Removal.

>>
Why are rarities so fucked up?

Why things like vmax/vstar/ex cards worth like $1-3 usually in new packs? It feels like each set has 4-5 cards of value and literally everything else in a set is trash worth less than the pack it came out of.

>>56049571

Iono is already down to 79 from 100+ even after the release of her paldean fates ver and milk box ver while still being playable on the tgc.

Meanwhile Carmine is 97 from 120 in a span of 1-2 weeks and Perrin is at 71 from 84 in the same timeframe.

https://www.tcgplayer.com/product/550264/pokemon-sv06-twilight-masquerade-perrin-220-167?page=1&Language=English

If you check the week before june though, both Perrin and Carmine were already going down but for some reason pumped up in price (same with greninja). I believe that Carmine and Perrin will go back down to their pre-june low prices of 84 and 58 respectively and go even lower after that as people move on from this set. (Granted, next set seems to be so-so based on people's reactions even to the japanese version of it, Night Wanderer/Shrouded Fable)
>>

SV sets aren't so bad in that regard. Most IRs are atlast $4-5 and there are usually a handful that clear $10, plus a a few gold and FAs that get higher. Twilight Masquerade has 20 cards worth more than ten bucks. Much easier to pull high-mid value cards than in Sw/Sh which was often either crazy pulls or bust.

pic related goes for 800+ dollars because people slept on them, they got were damaged from the factory, or forgotten. basically nobody gave a shit about it, and currently only 19 of them exist in a PSA 10. so now people give a shit. because its so rare.
so why the fuck not? have tons of rare shit that will retain better value than shit that was released in the past 4 years.
and i got a fresh one that i pulled 8 years ago from a box that is deffinitly a 10.

Best of luck finding someone that wants to pay that much for it. Do people ITT actually believe they'll be able to sell their graded cards for the ridiculous prices they're asking for them? I'm genuinly curious- like just because a PSA 10 1st ed Caterpie is *worth* $300 is someone ACTUALLY going to pay for it? I have my doubts.
>>
>>56052617
Grading cards only appeals to a certain group. Most people will be haggling down prices anyways. There is also risking the chance of bidding in which you can lose 90% of the value. You have shops who can be a guaranteed income source but the shop will undercut you and then do a markup for a flip. Either way you are not going to get what you think it will unless you are really selling something special or you are in a hype market.
>>
>>56052617
not for sale.
>>
>>56052617
and if you want one. there is one english copy on ebay.
and the asking price is 1500. though PSA claims its only a 800 dollar card. if he is the only one willing to sell. you would have to pay that.
so im going to take what you say. and throw it out the door.

Fucking retards fall for anything

Silver tempest got reprinted, which means it should go DOWN. But instead, pumpers get on their alts and pretend this reprint has way more hits and make the price jump to 5 bucks a pack. All you have to do is post on reddit to pretend your got all of your hits in a couple packs and people will EAT that shit up. How fucking stupid can the collecting community get?????
>>
>>56052617
Things only have the value someone is willing to pay for them, so if you value your bullshit graded card at a thousand dollars it's only WORTH a thousand dollars if you're able to sell it. I could put the five of diamonds from a pack of Bicycle playing cards in one of these things and say it's worth two million dollars, but it isn't worth anything unless I can sell it.

Manaphy prevents DAMAGE from attacks. It blocks things like Radiant Greninja or Scream Tail which have the ability to hit benched pokemon with their attack damage. It does not block EFFECTS from attacks that place damage counters on the board, like Dragapult Ex or Sableye. It may seem arbitrary but it's an important and explicit distinction for the sake of game balance. It means there isn't a single catchall shield for bench, and it allows the potential for manaphy to be dispatched from the bench by means of effect.

Frankly at this point in the game, Manaphy is basically only run because Greninja is so potentially devastating. Jirachi does the opposite and blocks effects that place damage counter from attacks (from basic pokemon), but not direct damage.

I finished my binder. It holds 1000 cards. in this binder, basically everything is random. all the sets are randomized (except 151). I have every mawile card that exists.

I need to get another binder, obviously, but I am hesitant to "randomize" it again, because let me tell you that's a pain in the ass when you're finding duplicates you never thought you had.

but going by set seems way too unrealistic. I don't want every card from a set. and of there is one card that's like hundreds of dollars obviously it's going to take forever for me to get it.

any ideas on how I should go about this?
>>
>>56061824
So, for me and some other collectors, we like to establish a collection identity to form some assembalance of self control and restrictive measures.

For example I collect cards that are English and released in the year 1999 and don't go outside of that threshold.

This allows me to preemptively know what my binders should or could look like and where to leave empty slots.

So for me it's basically Base Jungle Fossil and some Blackstar Promos.

You said you don't want to do sets, understandable, people should collect what they like. In your instance if it's simply cards you like without specified parameters you can find yourself collecting every card in existence at its limit.

Unfortunately without a stable collection identity the random hot mess binder is the collection identity. Maybe dedicate pages for your favorite pokemon.

>rare holos
>full art Pokemon
The way I organize them is in a rough release order.

If I pulled the perrin I would probably sell. If I pulled the Carmine I would keep it in my collection until the day I die.

Yea the art is a top 5 trainer card IMO. Apparently she's racist in the game so that just makes me want to give her some spic children.

You don't have to have every card in a set to organise it by set number.
All my cards are organised by set but I only leave space for the cards I actually like the look of.

I organize mine based on type. Some pokemon have different types I just add them to the existing ones. My collection has been that way for a long time and with 1700 cards I just build on the last collection. I also have 3 different binders; one for regular pokemon, one for trainer cards and energies, and one for my favorites and rare cards.

I biked for 6 miles to get some Evolving skies tins from walmart and they didn't have a single one.
