Why did these pokemon not become fairy types?
>>
They're not fairies?
>>
>>56092601
>Delcatty
Its signature ability is Normalize. She is what it means to be a Normal-type Pokemon. Any romhack that gives her fairy-type doesn't understand Delcatty.
>Audino
It's basically a mother Pokemon and being a mother is normal to most Pokemon.
>Milotic
Why, because it is feminine? Nothing about her design reminds me of fairies.
>Alomomola
Could work but Gamefreak doesn't really care about this mon.
>Blissey
Same reason as Audino
>Cinccino
It's just a rat with a scarf
>>
>>56092620
Whimsicott is not a fairy
>>
>>56092601
Just because it’s cute or girly looking doesn’t mean it has to be fairy type.
>>
Mega Absol and Milotic should have been fairies desu, Alomomola and Luvdisc too. The rest are good as normal
>>
>>56092625
then what makes a fairy type?
>>
Charizard should be fire/fairy
>>
I feel like you people don't realize how mischievous fairies really are
>>
>>56092623
>Its signature ability is Normalize. She is what it means to be a Normal-type Pokemon. Any romhack that gives her fairy-type doesn't understand Delcatty.
It doesn't have to lose its normal typing just like how jigglypuff became nomal/fairy.
>It's basically a mother Pokemon and being a mother is normal to most Pokemon.
Fairy types are all about healing and protection. Being motherly is as fairy is pokemon can get.
>Why, because it is feminine? Nothing about her design reminds me of fairies.
Yes, it's because it is feminine. Most fairy types are clearly femimine.
>Could work but Gamefreak doesn't really care about this mon.
I guess, but they had to give the fairy type to as many old pokemon as possible back when they were making XY since it was still new.
>Same reason as Audino
mega audino
>It's just a rat with a scarf
marill is just a rat that spews water
>>
>>56092630
Depends. If it’s magical or whimsical in some way, then it’s fairy type. But this probably isn’t a hard and fast rule.

Grimmsnarl technically fits that definition (his pre-evolutions fit it more, to be fair), since he’s based off monsters from old fairy tales.

>Alo
i don't think alomomola should have been a fairy type it's literally just a mola mola fish
>Milo
miltoic is like a mermaid but entirely fish so i think it should be fairy
>Delcatty
delcatty is just a fucking cat it's not a fairy
>Audino
for the base form? it does look sorta fairyish. it's got the swirlies and frills on the ears. i think it could've been mono fairy and then stay mono fairy on mega.
>Cincinno
it's literally a chinchilla with a scarf
>Mega Absol
YES. ABSOLUTELY. it gives massive fairy vibes. i can't explain why but coming in to tell humans about their impending doom and then fucking off is peak fairy
>Blissey
my fake answer is that just making it pink isn't grounds for making it a fairy. my real answer is that a) they already made two stupid pink blobs that had base forms from gen1 into fairies and b) fairy type blissey would be the most bullshit thing imaginable and it absolutely did not need the buff
>>56092623
>being a mother is normal to most pokemon
i don't get what this means at all
>>56092630
being based on a folkloric creature, having a sense of whimsy or mischief innate to their design, and involving the moon like moonblast and clefable (yes i think lunatone should've been turned rock/fairy)
sometimes pokemon will in fact just be fairy types due to being stupid pink blobs, but other times they'll be implied to be literally fairies by their fairy typing. like, carbink would totally just be a rock if it were mono rock, but because it's a fairy type i see carbink as a rock fairy.
>>
Fairy should have never been a type. all we needed was at least one more type to be changed to resist dragon. Ice also (still) needs like 1 or 2 more resistances.
>>

Should Nidorino, Nidorina and Munna be Fairy then?
>>
>>56092601
Fairy is the stupidest fucking thing they've added and they've added a lot of stupid fucking things.
>>56092762
Should have just buffed poison, bug or even normal. No one should pretend like Fairy>Dragon makes any sense.

Well before Gen 6, Clefable and Wigglytuff were normal types too. They were in the same group as Delcatty.
>>56092795
Nidorino and Nidorina were already dual types, so they are out of the question. But I can see Munna and Musharna being Psychic/Fairy. They are based on a folklorish creature.
>>

Munna definitely should

Uh why does she not know Feint Attack anymore, that was her go to Dark-type move?
Why does she know Fury Swipes instead of Double-Slap, she always knew Double-Slap?
Why can she not learn Assist her signature move in Gen 3?
Didn’t she learn Wake-Up Slap in Gen 7, why did they remove that in the very next Gen?
Wtf was BDSP thinking?!
>>

Feint Attack - not in gen 8/9
Double Slap - not in gen 8/9
Assist - not in gen 8/9
Wake-Up Slap - not in gen 8/9

Delcatty - not in gen 9 (not even in SwSh, only in BDSP)

>cinccino
Minccino was designed as a Gen 5 equivalent to Clefairy (because unova mons are knock-off KANTOOOOOOOOOO mons)
https://lavacutcontent.com/ken-sugimori-nintendo-dream-3/
That's a good reason for it to get the Fairy type too
>>
>>56093191
Batmom, Lunatone, and Cresselia are all Psychic-type. Moonblast was probably just working back from Clefairy instead of the moon itself having fairy-type.
>>
>>56093211
GF actually forgot about them
>>
>>56092601
>lets give one of the historical best special walls in the game key resistances to common attacking types and a dragon immunity with a weakness less common than fighting and a weakness that may as well not even exist offensively
if chansey/blissey became fairy type that would've arguably been more retarded than SV powercreep
>>
>>56093713
Blissey looks more fairy like and it can't hold eviolite
>>
>>56092800
they introduced some overpowered dragons in gen 5 (that didn't have a double ice weakness) and felt like they needed to level the playing field a bit, that's always been my take on it
>>
>>56092787
All of those in the pic should be Fairy besides the Nidos
>>56093230
Shiny stones should be associated with fairies too
>Floette to Florges (Fairy)
>Togetic to Togekiss (Normal/Fairy-type, became Normal/Fairy in Gen VI)
>Minccino to Cinccino (Normal)
>Roselia to Roserade (Already a dual type that does not involve Normal like the Nidos)
>>
>>56093878
making bug or normal super effective vs dragon would have been kino. poison is decent already doesn't need the buff but those two really needed something.
>>
>>56094357
The Moon and Shiny stones are already associated with the Fairy type by the Cram-o-matic in the Island of Armor.
https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Cram-o-matic#Inputs
>>
>>56092623
>Its signature ability is Normalize
Its other ability is Cute Charm, an ability that it shares with a bunch of Fairy-type Pokemon (+Cinccino, Minccino, and Lopunny, All of which should also be Fairy)
>>
>>56094357
Roserade is in the fairy egg group
>>
>>56092601
>Delcatty
Like the other anon said, its entire gimmick is being a bland normal type to the point that its ability changes all of its moves.
>Audino
Sandbagging for the mega. Same reason they gave moonblast to Altaria in XY.
>Milotic
More associated with dragons if anything. Learns way more dragon moves and is partially based on a legend of an undersea dragon palace.
>Absol
More of a psychic-adjacent pokemon of anything with its prognosticative powers and all. Doesn’t really fit the cute and/or woodland vibe they were going for with fairies in Gen 6.
>Chansey/Blissey
Probably to make the three Kanto pink normal blobs unique. Jigglypuff gets to have both typings, and Clefairy gets to be retyped fully. Chansey doesn’t have any moon/rabbit theming to it makes sense to keep it as the pure normal one.
>Cinccino
See above. It’s basically Gen 5’s answer to Clefariy/Jigglypuff, so they probably wanted to keep it a bit more unique.
>Alomomola
No clue here honestly. Though given how Sugimori talked about Unova’s water types and fish mons they probably legitimately didn’t give enough of a shit about this thing to retype it.
>>
>>56093433
This. The moon isn’t strictly associated with fairy types, and they’re still making psychic/normal/dark types with a lunar motif after its introduction. The type was more than likely designed around Clefairy (a moon alien) and Sylveon (Sailor Moon reference) so it would make sense to give it a lunar motif- but it doesn’t have a monopoly on it.
>>
>>56092601
They probably didn’t want to oversaturate the type in the beginning. They all fit fairy type except delcatty and cinccino. Those are just normal animals. The rest have fairy like qualities. Creatures that randomly show up seemingly out of nowhere to heal the injured lines up perfectly with a subset of fairies. Which is why alomomola, audino, and chantey fit. Absol fits based on lore alone. Milotic is definitely based on beautiful mermaids and sirens and lorewise has alter the mood and mind of anyone staring at them.
There were also metafag implications to consider which is probably why some mons got left out while others didnt

Jigglypuff became Normal/Fairy and yet it's just a balloon. If you want to make the moon bunny argument, only Wigglytuff should have gotten the type change.
No reason Blissey can't be Normal/Fairy.

Also bee flies are not fairies, yet Cutiefly is part Fairy.
