Why is Pokémon so protective of its IP? You see other failing franchises like Sonic incorporating fan designs, concepts and even games/programmers into the official canon because the fan base has a lot of passion and outdo the official teams and then you have stingy Gamefreak still building bricks on a game from 96 with a team of 300 people, with creature designs getting worse and worse every year. Fangames get C&D, good fakemon not even acknowledged, beloved features removed every new game.

Because they tried to steal the name Nintendo and Donkey Kong from them in the 90s

Why would they do something failing series would do? Are you really that retarded?

nintendo in general is an anti-consumer company that does what it pleases even if it fucks over individuals and small companies, but you would never once hear about the bad stuff because they also have the biggest corpo boitlickers swarming the pile of shit in the middle

>but you would never once hear about the bad stuff
Smashnonces are way too vocal for this to be the case

Because this franchise is the embodiment of becoming corporatized and cringe

Nintendo trauma after the slop that caused the game crash with poorly done licensed games of established IPs like ET and the lawsuit where they defeated an established company like Universal in the Donkey Kong vs King Kong case. If a big company like Universal can lose then they can lose as well. Later when they gave America the ability to adapt their games they got the liveaction Mario Bros movies and those weird Zelda cartoons.

Since then they have been very protective of their IPs.
