Being unable to see/fight the ghosts in Lavender Town spooked me as a kid. The whole concept of a dead Pokémon coming back for revenge and her baby being all alone was kinda disturbing to me at the time. And I swear one of the possessed priestesses says she wants your blood.

The music didn't help and the first time I eventually braved through was the time where I saw the ghosts roaming about too, so that scared me even more. It took a while for me to get the Rotom, and I also ended up getting a Gengar from there.
