Routes are short and straightforward, grass is almost always completely avoidable, "secret" areas are few in number and incredibly obvious, and environment variety feels incredibly homogenous and underutilized. You never really feel like you're exploring a big, open area. You never really feel immersed in a route or other location. About halfway through so far, there hasn't even been anything even as memorable as Viridian or Eterna Forest.Still liking it, but if something doesn't change soon, then I can see where the complaints are coming from.

Where XY is overall better without as many awful cutscenes and with less handholding, better world and routes, SM has the much more interesting story and more memorable characters. I'd have to describe XY as dull and forgettable and SM as annoying as hell. Both regions have some great mons they bring to the table, and unique features.XY is way more replayable, but I enjoyed 2 playthroughs of it and felt like I'd sapped every last bit of fun out of the game by the end of the second one. I literally couldn't get through as a second run of Moon and I never played Ultra.Anything on the Switch is trash, I pretend they don't exist.
