Well, it was either gonna be three games in three years then skip a year or take a gap year somewhere in-between starting and ending the Gen, but it was always going to be dragged out to get Gen 10 for '26.

There hasn't been any Game Freak game that's gotten 4 years development dude. Even Gen 1, which took 5 years total, was scrapped 2 1/2 years in and restarted from almost scratch. And knowing how they work on this shit, it's either got 3 years and they built a new engine for it, or they're re-using an engine from somewhere and are making it in two (I'm probably leaning 3, just that I think they'd use L: A's project development as a roadmap for L: Z-A's).
