>>56553739It's the generation that I learned about deeper mechanics like IVs/EVs, got into competitive, shiny hunting, learned the ins and outs of breeding, etc. I remember countless hours flipping through my DP strategy book until the binding fell apart and pages started falling out. Being able to play with people over the internet felt like being the first time I could fully enjoy pokemon. Because I didn't have friends irl either until Gen 4. I got into fights a lot at school and didn't get the chance to get to know people very well.

Lost all of our consoles and all of our spoiled rich millennial toys.Now, that wasn't the reason I disliked Pearl. Pearl made me realize where pokemon was going and that Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire were the last time we'll have a good game (like comparing Quake 3 to Quake 4, or Doom 2 to Doom 3.)If it wasn't for diamond and pearl, I wouldn't have appreciated Ruby/Sapphire as much as I would have. I appreciate gen 4 for making gen 3 look superior. The only thing I liked about gen 4 was Cynthia. She's great for AI prompting.
