>>56597670I think because GF was trying to take Gen 3 in a different direction with cooler Pokemon, they probably commissioned some art like this to get a totally new perspective. Sometimes to get fresh ideas, you have to step completely out of the box. Then you can tone it back a little to be more like a Pokemon. which they obviously did with some of them like Cacturne.
