If I had to guess on why Regigigas reacts to the plates, it's not because it's a disgraced giant who was weakened and turned into one of Arceus' servants, but because it was made in the giants' likeness.Think about how the Blank Plate was absent until Legends: Arceus. Gameplay-wise, it makes sense, because Arceus is Normal Type by default. So a plate would be redundant. But specifically giving it to Regigigas, a continent-towing giant, paints an interesting picture.We know the other types were based on the energy of the defeated giants, but I wager Normal is a special case.Normal is what Arceus was born with. Its default. The Normal Type is literally God's Type.This is why Normal Types are famously known for having the widest movepool diversity out of all the types, because they're effectively emulating God's own diverse powers on a mortal scale.And since Gigas is a Normal Type, this essentially makes it Arceus' own homemade giant. But because Arceus remained wary of a potential uprising from its creations, especially a giant who possesses its own godly attributes on a mighty scale, it forced Gigas to be stuck with Slow Start as a limiter to ensure it could never snowball out of control, unlike Arceus who, at birth, was able to exponentially grow stronger as it fought the giants.
I like the idea of Regigigas as the Pokémon-Numidium.The giants are said to not have been Pokémon, but in the myth with the giants being born from the shell of the cosmic egg, the distinction between humans and Pokémon only emerges much later between the children of Ia and Ea. Ia and Ea (and Aus, and the titans) predate Pokémon but are also Pokémon.I believe Regigigas crystalised/been reduced to a Pokémon as the world took shape and its rules were written and it had to fit into them (what I believe).

Gigas was only stopped from a team effort from Aus, the human, and Ia and Da, the latter of which weren’t even strong enough to stop Gigas alone. Gigas’s divine punishment was being stripped of its massive bulk to make Mr Coronet, but this only served to enrage Gigas further. They weakened Gigas with Slow Start but it was still not enough-so they made him tow the continents, but Gigas was still pissed. They finally gave him his own temple and left him alone and that was what got him to settle.
I think the idea of Regigigas being powered down and being much different at the beginning vs now as a Pokemon are possible. If Primal Reversions and Origin Formes prove anything, it's that a lot of legendaries were far more powerful in their past forms.
