It took until DS zoomers became nostalgia fags in their own right but I think its really interesting how they and genwunners back each other up these days if only because things keep trending downward. Also how gens 2-3 are considered peak rn even though people identify with DS era or gen 1. Guess its just a good middleground.

I mean when you compare to the rest of handheld gaming yeah. Most GB rpgs were super basic see Final Fantasy Legend while Gen 1 was ambitious as hell, well over a hundred possible party members with their own moves, a vast world to explore, half way through you could basically do the gyms in any order. The problem is the games never evolved that much and by the GBA stuff like Golden Sun and the FF remakes were soundly mogging the ruby and sapphire in terms of like complexity and story. Pokemon wasn't really as special anymore.
