Never quite understood the fascination for this Shudo guy, like it's always talked about how the dude was a self-destructived and depressive, tortured soul having to work a kids show...but when you look at the episodes he made for the anime they are all just your average Pokemon episode and only very occasionally surreal stuff (the giant Dragonite episode, the giant Pokemon island episode, the Ghost of Maiden's Peak episode) he also wrote a novelization of the show which depicts the world as far more bleak with stuff like Pallet Town being a shithole shanty town, where the Oak family rose to power for being the lesser losers of town, and Ash's mom posing on porno magazines in her youth, etc., but that's literally fanfictionDude is not even Miyazaki levels of whimsical work coming from an overly-bitter man, don't get why people care so much
