i use to think casey was a replacement kris/marina for Ash's group. Had Misty not been in Johto (she was originally meant to be cut), Casey could have been a good supporting role. Oh, during the drafting periods of the dub, Ash was originaly meant to be called Casey. Having Misty in Johto filler hell was a mistake. Brock was alright due to the backlash with fans. Casey deserved better.

Doing a Casey Run in Crystal was relatively easy. Start with Chikorita. Use Rattata and Pidgey. Bench them then use Meganium along side Blade and yellow striped Pokémon (added an Umbreon for Away team uniform theming). But what would I do for Gisselle? Ground Type run? Solo run with two Pokémon instead of one?

Perhaps the comparison is superficial since it’s based solely on their similar hairstyles and being a Johtonian rookie, but I wonder if she was a proto-Kris character. Even at the beginning of the Johto arc they found a Suicune as if they were gonna loosely follow Crystal rather than GS.

It would be interesting if the leaks had confirmed that Kris is based on Casey or vice versa's design, for me the character had a lot of potential being the new rookie and could have even been perfect to return during HGSS remakes with the implementation of the Pokeathlon, she could have been a sporty girl that introduced in the anime all the different sports that there are in the Pokemon world, instead of the boring episodes of Ash and friends meet CoD, TR shows up, Pikachu saves the day.

They could have introduced mini Spocon arcs giving them rivals during the Johto season, Ash vs Silver in mini sport events, Brock trying to impress a sporty girl in something like Pokemon canoeing, and finally the arc of Casey forming a Pokebase team and facing Whitney for the regional cup, Lighting Eleckids vs Rampage Miltanks.

It would have been interesting to see her compete for the position of Kanto's Ground Gym Leader against Paul with her Marowak and A.Marowak Vs Paul's B. Ursaluna.

In this aspect Pokemon had a very poor ending, it could have given us a few minutes with a song and included several images giving a closure or follow-up to several characters, yes it did, but it only included like 10 characters, I liked the BeyBlade version better that included a great variety of characters and did it in a brief way.
