What's the point of cutting Battle Tower in Scarlet/Violet? Other than proving that they can?

Look at Home vs Bank, and I won't be surprised if Home's price goes up soon.More importantly, they're going to sunset the Switch online at some point. And when the do, people that go back and play those games will be stuck using the BDSP and SwSh battle towers, with nothing for gen 9 because basically all post-game battling is online (either VGC or raids).

If you want to keep up with the pack and keep enjoying Pokemon as intended, you're getting the latest hardware and the latest game that VGC supports.
