>*kills the games' worldbuilding*
>>56818357More like >*kills my patience* just give me that fucking metal coat and fire stone already stupid fucking game
>>56818357Just say you don't like it.
why have good writing when you can have lazy nostalgia pandering instead?
>>56818357Returning characters who appear exclusively at this facility aren't making a canonical appearance. I thought we went over this when fucking Giovanni of all people was allowed to show up and compete. This is also true of the Battle Tree, characters like Wally who only appear in the Battle Tree aren't making canonical appearances.
>>56818357>>56818375How is it bad worldbuilding or lazy? It's proper world building to justify it with a tournament instead of of just a random facility, and it's not lazy because them being existing NPCs gave them more work. to do instead of less (remix all themes, create teams that are familiar to the trainer yet competitive simultaneously),
Did Unova fuck your mother or something, yawnfag?
>>56818357this was accomplished in gen 6.
>B-B-BUT GEN 6aaaaaaand there it is. I'm surprised the deflection squad took this long.
>>56818589>respects the worldbuilding of your universe by instead pulling Legendaries from across the vast and infinite multiverseI dunno, sounds better than "Let's allow notorious crime boss Giovanni to compete in our heckin' epic World Tournament because he strongarmed his way into being Viridian Gym Leader once!", Tate and Liza still being kids even though Unova canonically takes place roughly 15 years after Hoenn's events, or Wally looking like a kid in SMUSUM even though Alola canonically takes place roughly 20 years after the events of Kanto and Hoenn.
>>56818607so you think>lazily copy pasting legendaries from previous entries into your series and not updating their music while simultaneously ruining every story built up to that pointis a whole lot better than>updating teams, animating trainer sprites, remixing music and rewarding the player with a challenging gauntletfucking retard. Also you're basing this shit off the new leaked beta timeline which is not canon, so it shows your stupidity.
>>56818605Worldbuilding is a feat that is accomplished across multiple games anon. It's pretty fucking justified.>>56818607>muh multiverseThis is the antithesis to proper worldbuilding and is the ultimate way any franchise escapes being forced to world build in a cohesive way. It makes it feel less of a cohesive world when something like Hoopa very conveniently (for an in universe event) brings one of each legend to you from across the multiverse. Sure, the ages don't line up very well in the PWT, but they justified everyone being there are we don't ACTUALLY know the canon timeline of events there and how far apart games are. It's really only Giovanni who's interesting, which if you're so insistent on so much time passing, it's easily imagined that the more time passed, the more likely it is for him to be atoned or even imitated.
>>56818637>so you think>>thing that makes sense>is a whole lot better than>>thing that doesn't make sensecorrect
>>56818661How does that make more sense? It makes more sense sense to put more effort in and actually justify something, like what PWT did. the PWT makes way more sense than muh multiverse copout.
>>56818672a legendary controlling space being able to pull legendaries from different spaces makes sensea tournament being built within the span of 2 years and getting enough attention to get everyone in completely foreign regions to drop everything they're doing just to attend while also not aging at all since their last appearance doesn't make sense and is simply low effort dogshit nostalgia pandering
>>56818643>, but they justified everyone being there are we don't ACTUALLY know the canon timeline of events thereWe do though.
>>56818661>it makes sense to lazily copy paste legendaries>it makes sense to not update their decades old music>it makes sense to ruin their stories>it doesn't make sense to update teams>it doesn't make sense to animate and reanimate trainer sprites>it doesn't make sense to remix music>it doesn't make sense to reward the player with challengeYou are the reason the series is rewarded when it allocates less effort towards a product.
>>56818357Nah, they killed the worldbuilding years earlier. Not that it was anything close to spectacular to begin with.
>>56818357Okay but who cares, it's fun and no one except autists get mad about shit like this
>>56818357What's the problem here? I haven't played the PWT too much, but it's literally a "world tournament. " What exactly is farfetched about the most skilled trainers on the planet gathering to compete in it?
>>56818711People bitch because it doesn't fit in the timeline and certain characters like Giovanni shouldn't realistically be there.""People"" being /vp/ and literally no one else.
>>56818721Oh right, I guess characters like Bugsy or Tate & Liza should be aged up a bit. I never thought very hard about it kek
>>56818689>We do thoughPost any proof of this that invalidates the PWT then>>56818688>thing that doesn't make sense makes sense>thing that makes sense doesn't make sensewrongSee? I can do it too. But it all seriousness:A legendary being able to do this in the first place is ALREADY a jab at worldbuilding because it's lazy and removes the responsibility of the devs to justify each legendary's appearance like they did before. For example the Latis only appear to pure hearted people IIRC and the Tao Trio only appear to heroes of truth and ideals. If the creation trio ar removed from other universes, technically those universes are now screwed, but nope, the devs can lazily hand wave it. This is what I mean. Hoopa is a copout away from worldbuilding. We used to get actual justification, like say B2W2's legendaries. While it didn't have all of them, it justified each and every one of the returning ones in various cool ways that expand the world, aka worldbuilding.Meanwhile, I find all your criticisms of the PWT just really off topic when it comes to world building and frankly not very effective in any way. You do realize Clay, who built the PWT, is based on a businessman from Japan actually, and because he's in charge of founding a port city for trade with aid other Japanese regions it isn't insane. Also, do you not know what the Olympic are? It doesn't take long to build one tiny fucking stadium, especially with the construction pokemon line living in Unova. This is an EXPANSIOn of worldbuilding, not some weird effort to avoid having to worldbuild like Hoopa.
>>56818357>pokemon>worldbulding
>>56818607>even though Unova canonically takes place roughly 15 years after Hoenn's events
>>56818688>a legendary controlling space being able to pull legendaries from different spaces makes senseNot really since it suggests every other legendary is weaker than it is and unable to resist going into a portal.Including the actual pokegod that should shit on hoopa's power.
>>56818688>and getting enough attention to get everyone in completely foreign regions to drop everything they're doing just to attend while also not aging at all since their last appearance doesn't make sense and is simply low effort dogshit nostalgia panderingThe issue with this is that it's not unheard of in the series, in fact Platinum and HGSS before it had Gym leaders doing whatever they want. And because of the ambiguous placement timeline wise for the unova games gathering for tournament is less egregious than say Jasmine showing up in Sinnoh and doing contests at the same time she should have been in Johto attending to the sick Ampharos or Crasher Wake and Maylene in Johto when they should be in Sinnoh since both of those occur at the same time.
>>56818743Exactly, no one didLike how the Pokewalker exists both in and out of universe, how Meltan is implied to be from the real world, how the pokedex is supposed to work, why Wally is still a kid in SM but red and blue are adults, leaf vs green, none of this shit makes sense and arguing about it on /vp/ is just gonna lead to endless loops of retardation.
>>56818746> For example the Latis only appear to pure hearted peopleWhich they do, in ORAS’s story.> and the Tao Trio only appear to heroes of truth and idealsThe protagonist in ORAS is also a hero> If the creation trio ar removed from other universes, technically those universes are now screwedIs this an issue? Hoopa is the mischief pokemonc of course it would cause havoc. >>56818637> leaked beta timeline which is not canonThe only part of the timeline that was “leaked” was the actual time span between DPPt and BW. All do the other year gaps listed are on official materials, like the games themselves and in the officially released SM artbook.
>>56818983>The protagonist in ORAS is also a heroA hero =/= the heroYou need specific qualities for them to appear before you. That's why Ghetsis had to groom N for almost his entire life.
>>56818607>Let's allow notorious crime boss Giovanni to compete in our heckin' epic World Tournament because he strongarmed his way into being Viridian Gym Leader once! You're the only person who knows that and the only thing you can say is ...
>>56819068>forgetting the part where Team Rocket loudly and desperately squealed across the radio waves in Johto BEGGING their boss, GIOVANNI, to come back to them so Team Rocket can rise from the ashes and return to its former glory
>>56818696>>it makes sense to ruin their storiesThe Legendaries in ORAS summoned by Hoopa come from irrelevant universes whose stories were likely doomed by the absence of the protagonist or their inability to succeed. If anything, Hoopa saved them from being seized by a multiversal power like Rainbow Rocket. What DOES ruin a Legendary's story is arbitrarily cramming them into another region "naturally" with no consideration for their significance or prior history, such as HGSS implying that a SECOND set of Super Ancients were chilling out dormant within the Johto Cliffsides and never bothered waking up despite their Hoenn brothers making a scene three years ago.
>>56818566the ages were not adjusted
>>56818710exactly this, who gives a shit? this is far from the first or only example of gameplay being incongruent with the lore in Pokemon. I learned all the way back in Gen 1 not to take that kind of stuff so seriously with this franchise. I could understand if this was something totally and utterly out of place within the Pokemon universe, that would be jarring. but it's just a few inconsistencies with character ages and a bad guy participating? seriously, that's it? who fucking cares? at some point you have to accept that Pokemon is a game above all else, and sometimes the lore makes concessions for the game. even as a kid I understood this and didn't let it ruin my enjoyment. it's not fucking biblical canon or a history textbook.
>>56819230Then maybe Pokemon should stop having such high stakes and quit taking itself so seriously with shit like Lillie's family drama, Cyrus wanting to annihilate the universe so he can make his own universe as its sole inhabitant and God, or every Legendary being a schizophrenic demiurge that can twist spacetime and drive people to insanity just by farting.
>>56818566it's the fact that no one aged 10 years, you dumbass sperg.
>>56819230I will never understand adults who are obsessive about fictional canon. Like you said, it's one thing when something is tonally out of place or completely breaks the universe's logic. But getting your panties in a knot over the minutia of tiny little details like you're a Bible Scholar is just so bizarre to me. I never cared. Star Wars is the worst for this, "ah bloo-hoo it's not CAANNNOOOONN" SHUT THE FUCK UP I DON'T CARE
>>56819052>A hero =/= the heroYou need specific qualities for them to appear before youCool, and the ORAS protag fits those qualities. >That's why Ghetsis had to groom N for almost his entire lifeAnd he ended up BTFO’d by two “random trainers from who knows where” that didn’t need to be groomed to become heroes. How does this preclude the ORAS protag from being worthy, exactly?
>>56818746>and the Tao Trio only appear to heroes of truth and ideals. If theThe real issue is that they're one of the few sets of legendaries that are completely unique entities due to the nature of their birth.
>>56819230the people who get upset about shit like this are the same as (or literally are) zelda timeline autists, actually caring about this has to qualify as a form of self-harm
>>56819130It could've been any Giovanni.
>>56819350>the ORAS protags for those qualitiesSource? It’s almost like world building is needed to justify this statement but it never existed.>>56819161You’re headcanoning world building the game never does when in reality it just plopped them in without any thought you are now attempting. But then when it comes to older games that actually expand lore in a way you disagree with some that’s anti world building. Quite the opposite; it builds the world, hits not in a way you agree with.>>56818983>Is this an issueYes obviously
