There's a few things that I like about his hacks:

An adaptation of Shin Megami Tensei's Law/Chaos system could be cool, maybe outright including YHVH and Lucifer would be a bit much but making cults that worship Arceus and Giratina would work. Hell, make two rivals that gradually become crazier and lean into their alignments more as the story goes on. You could even change up how battles work with Pokemon alignments synergize with each other to make you stronger like in Strange Journey, the idea is open-ended enough to let you put as much work in as you want to be interesting.

I would say eldritch horror fits with Pokemon the best, stuff like Necrozma/Ultra Beasts, Eternatus, and even Arceus to an extent kind of fall under that umbrella already. You could easily kick it up a notch and still keep it within the bounds of Pokemon.

Final Fantasy-esque I think you run the risk of it just coming across as edgy, to be honest. Dragon Ball inspired could be interesting. like a Frieza or Cell type villain who is an alien or maybe even a hyper-intelligent Pokemon, that could be something. I think this works better than FF because it's new for Pokemon and takes the stakes up a notch, but it's still saturday-morning-cartoonish enough to feel natural in Pokemon. I mean, early Pokemon was heavily inspired by Toriyama, just look at Mewtwo. could be cool to lean into that some more.

Yes, exactly! For example, if you're working with red, you'd have:
Your base red
A darker red for shadows
An even darker red for deep shadows/outlines

You're very observant - you're right that these Pokémon buildings don't use dithering. Instead, they use what's called "banding" or "cel shading" - distinct bands of color that create clear divisions between light and shadow. This is a hallmark of the Pokémon art style. Side from all the other advice you've gotten, and assuming your trying to emulate the FRLG buildings you should try copying more of what they do with certain details. For example the windows on the other buildings have the blue gradient and the tan for (what I assume is) the window sill. On your buildings you outlined the window sill in the same shade as the facade of the building which makes it look flat, but there's also shading on the left of the windows and sill

I've tried mocking something up real quick but I'm on my phone in bed so it's not perfect and your color pallet is a bit fucked from using some colors from the existing buildings with some other colors you added yourself just as one idea of how to make things more uniform while also keeping the building looking interesting and not too flat. This certainly isn't perfect, and may not be the vibe you're going for with the pillar/post on the front of the building but it's slightly more in line with the other buildings.
I'd also pay attention to small details like how many pixels are used for things like the shadows under the roofs and keep it the same, your shading was too thin and too light and it makes it barely noticable causing the building to appear to lack depth.

There's also this >>56838858 but that will come with more practice. If you copy the existing style to learn what to do and how to do it, you can adapt it with your own style as you improve. Alternatively you can just do everything from scratch and learn as you go that way which is also fine but probably way more work than I would assume you're intending.

Oh also the angles on the inside of that structure in the right side of the building are off given the way the buildings are situated. If that isn't something intended to be interacted with/entered is consider changing it entirely (maybe even removing it?) but if it is something you can enter into them the angles definitely need work, I'm not positive how as it's late and I'm not an architect but I know it looks wonky as is.
That said I do think it's a cool idea and gives a very cool additional detailing to the building.

A lot of them follow the same principals, the highlights on the left side of the building facades, gradients on the glass guess and windows (even with small windows like the pewter museum) the Pokemon center has the windows up high so they are shaded by the roof, lower windows don't have that.

The Pokemon daycare door and I think the door to the underground passage buildings have some dithering, but not a lot. It's interesting to note, but it's just a different style of door that those buildings use, I wouldn't focus on the dithering too much. Spriter's Resource has all of the buildings for FRLG I'd recommend copying the pic into paint, or whatever program you use to sprite, and zoom in and compare the similarities; buildings that are flat like oaks lab, celadon mansion and the houses in pallet have have that highlight I mentioned, but there are also rounded buildings like the gyms, marts and Pokemon centers where both sides are highlighted compared to round buildings like the game corner, bike shop and kind of the department store that have the right side shaded and the left highlighted.

Not every building is the same but you can sus out some design elements and apply it to what you're working on.

later dexes are mostly the same, the reason there's patterns is because the games all follow the same basic progression and need certain monster archetypes. basic weak monsters at the start of the game, and rare, strong monsters at the end. and GF has adopted certain motifs for these monsters, like the early game monsters are always rodents, bugs etc. then late game you have pseudos and legendaries.
cool idea to look for patterns, but that's about as deep as it goes. I think if you want to get a better understanding of how dexes are built, look at how Pokemon are distributed throughout the actual game. the points in the game at which you get each Pokemon, and also when they evolve is (usually) well thought out in giving a satisfying power curve throughout the game, and the dex arrangement is downstream of that.

The opponent being hit by all of the hazards, then setting them on the opponent's side sounds like a bit much. Even in the busted power-crept metagames of the Switch titles, the best you get for giving your hazards away is Court Change.
But I quite like the other anon's idea of making it a multi-hit move similar to Beat Up. Each hit could be a different type, but I imagine checking for immunity would make that a pain.

true. I was thinking just in terms of each region individually, but that is a good point. you could get into analysis of how individual game design interacts with an iterative franchise. but I'll save that for another time.

Poorly is the short answer. New pokemon are definitely designed and distributed with gameplay in mind but the old ones always seem to be put wherever they feel like.
Pretty sure the only region that put any thought into balancing old and new pokemon was Johto.

Can't tell if I'm overthinking this or not but is there any easy way of taking one of these arrays and then setting 3 different events to give the pokemon listed in them? The only way I can actually make it work right now is having three events with a bunch of conditionals inside rpg maker to check the variable. It's annoying.

Nothing wrong with edge of itself but most of the writing of these hacks, including ones that are lighthearted are terrible no matter how you look at it.
Pokemon stories in general sucks or non-existent because the main point of these games are gameplay (as should).

I'm also playing Rejuvenation and I can say I fucking hate this shit. Ch7 has completely embittered me to the game and I no longer give any shits about anything. They try to hype up Angie as a viscous, maniacal tyrant only for the ascent up to her to be filled with zoomer jokes and humor just like the rest of the game. Any sense of presence or weight is gone. I wanna play Platinum with the express purpose of completing the dex in that game. I could just hack the missing mons in with PKHeX but that feels cheap, is there a hack that simply adds all the missing mons into Platinum without fucking with the game beyond that?
Also, similar hacks of other mainline games would be welcome. I like mon catching autism without the cranked-up difficulty or the entire natdex shoved into a single game.
