Remember that rock and ground makes sense as separate types just like water and ice, and combining rock and ground will just create balance issues (bug resists ground and flying is immune to it but they are both weak to rock,
steel resists rock but is weak to ground. etc)
and if steel makes sense as a separate type despite the fact that metal is a earth material than so should rock and ground
>>
Runerigus is rock type.
>>
>>56879067
Literally who the FUCK is suggesting to merge types
>>
the only real redundant type is fairy

The 2 Types that are "hard material that comes out of the dirt" make more sense to combine into one Type if anything.
>>
Ground types = Monsters that typically burrow in to the ground or live in sandy or swampy environments
Rock types = Monsters that typically shelter in caves or live on mountainous terrain
It's that simple
>>
All the clay Pokemon should be rock type. clay is moldable and soft when wet but after it's dried it's absolutely a rock. you make bricks out of clay. it's a fucking rock

Most of the time wild clay is soft and moldable. Even dried out clay can be molded.
Clay only gets hard and solid when you super heat it
>>
>>56879086
fairy has no real identity to begin with. I don't know who looks at Zacian or Galarian Weezing or Dachsbun and thinks "fairy." The type is an arbitrary game design thing
>>
>>56879778
okay but my point is that the heatened, hardened clay is absolutely a rock and THAT is what claydol, golurk and runerigus are made out of. They are not moldable clay. they are the finished product, which is, dare i repeat myself, a goddamn ROCK
>>
>>56879783
just because you're too fucking retarded to know why something is fairy type doesn't mean it doesn't have a reason motherfucker. Fairy is by far one of the most thematically constistent types
>>
>>56879067
Thank you for the reminder. GF will take it into consideration
>>
>>56879795
It's the myths and folktales type, but also the food type, but also the generic cute pink thing type
>>
>>56879869
it's not the food type it's the sweetness type. they use sweet smells and sweet taste to convey that fairies have sweet personalities

this is exactly what i'm talking about, it's always the most ignorant motherfuckers who complain the loudest. grow a brain dude
>>
>fairy is the folktale type
>it's also the nature type
>and the sweetness type
>and the magic type
>and the "pink and cute" type

Clay IS ground ine very sense.
>>
>>56879951
rock is also just compressed dirt. i dab on thee

In the mind of the typical Japanese creator with a tenuous grasp of English, fairy and fae are interchangeable concepts, which I guess is more logical to someone from a Shintoist culture. You see this in a ton of Japanese media. Fae encompasses all of the things the fairy type represents (except food kind of, but there's like 3 evolutionary lines of food pokemon and they're all overtly the kinds of things you'd find in a fairy dream castle made of food). It would be a bad localization if it wasn't for the fact that again, this is common practice among the Japanese and it's literally called Fairy type in Japanese.

And all of that is stuff that fits the idea of fairies
Just like how flying is the bird type, the wind type, the some non-bird creatures that can fly and even has some items that only fit one thing like the sharp beak only making sense for the bird part
Or how psychic is the ESP type, the space related type, the smart type, even a bit of the magic theme as well
Or how fighting is the martial arts type, the brute force type, the justice type, swordsman type, the discipline type when you take in account the two ballet mons that have this type
Or how the very OP image shows that rock and ground are multiple things

>And all of that is stuff that fits the idea of fairies
but it doesn't fit with each other
martial arts, brute force, and swordsmanship are different ways of FIGHTING, and the justice part only comes up to explain why it's good against dark.
flying is anything in the air. on the purest level it represents wind (that's why tornadus was the only pure flying type for a while) but things birds do get lumped into it because they fly. and it was originally the bird type.
psychic is the least cohesive type other than fairy, the one we're arguing about, and dragon, which doesn't really represent anything. but all the things it represents are "weird". supernatural, in a way. mental powers, magic, aliens, that sort of stuff.

Functionally Psychics fulfill the JRPG "mage" archetype

Literally a leprechaun, it is one of the simplest fairies to understand.

Fighting type is redundant, all Pokémon fight and gen 1 fighting types like Primeape and Poliwrath could easily work as Dark types, Machamp line could work as Ground types, Hitmons could work as Normal types, etc. It's pretty much just the physical attacker type and none of its weaknesses or resistances even make sense besides the brain over brawn saying. By gen 4 they introduced the concept of aura and fighting spirit to make it more of a unique and stand out typing as the "heroic type", but in the very beginning it was pretty redundant as just "you are buff or mean."
>>
>>56879086
I think it applies to every type
>>
>Normal to Null
>Grass to Plant
>Steel to Metal
>Combine Dark and Ghost
>Combine Fairy and Psychic
Effectiveness would have to be redone but it'll reducer some redundancy.
>>
>>56883981
>and gen 1 fighting types like Primeape and Poliwrath could easily work as Dark types
dark type didn't exist back then you fucking retard
>>
>>56884051
nigga this is retarded
>>
>>56884053
Yes, the point is that Fighting type was the most fitting type for "aggressive and cruel" before the Dark type was created, Incineroar's reasoning for being Fire/Dark instead of Fire/Fighting could perfectly apply to Primeape
>>
>>56879086

>Yes, the point is that Fighting type was the most fitting type for "aggressive and cruel"
so it did have a point
>>
>>56884051
most of this is retarded but Plant and Metal are legit. Grass is already called Plant in some languages, and Steel should be Metal for what should be obvious reasons. Gholdengo immediately comes to mind as an argument against the type being called "Steel."
While we're at it, Poison encompasses the obvious poison and venom, but it also encompasses acid, trash, slime, basically everything toxic or even just gross. I think "Toxic" would be a better name for the type, even ignoring the pedantic shit like "hurr durr venom isnt poison"
>>
>>56879067
Runerigus=Runestone
Runestone=Ground
Its not logic
>>
>>56884063
>>56885275
No it isn't. Explain why you think it is and I will debate your point easily.
>>
>>56879067
rock and ground needs to seperate
ground is a lame type
rock is a cool type
ground rock combined would be generic and forgotable.
you need to free rock from the shackles of earth.
>>
Saying you don't like Fairy (the girl type) is an admission to be a homosexual

What the hell are you talking about
>>
>>56887422
Sirfetch’d
Gallade
Swords of Justice
>>
>>56887422
Gallade, Iron Valiant, Galarian Farfetch'd, Sirfetchd, Cobalion, Terrakion, Vizirion, Keldeo and Zacian
Then you have the moves Sacred Sword and Secret Sword
There are more swordfighters in Fighting than foodmons on Fairy(Swirlix, Slurpuff, Milcery, Alcremie, Fidough and Daschbun) [so three two stage lines] and the only attack that maybe is food themed in Fairy is decorate
