i love playing blaine so much it's unreal. i've gotten plenty of cards by now for other decks, but the way this deck feels so skill expressive(as much as it can be in this shit game lol), rewards game knowledge and calculations instead of just hitting things with your beat stick 'mon, and has so much potential for mind games and outplays is just too addicting.

I think that anon's logic is sound, that at a point if you have so many Pokemon in the deck you could sacrifice a Pokeball, you're likely already having no issue drawing basics. Sometimes my lean meta decks that use as few Pokemon as possible put me in bricks situations where I have a handful of trainer cards that won't secure me an advantage at that point in time, when what I really need is another Pokemon. Kogaing out a Weezing into an Arbok is usually an insane combo because Arbok can trap shit. A deck with DoT and trapping obviously loves to use Sabrina as well.

Simplicity and consistency are paramount in card games where rng rules the game. Look at any card game's top decks and you'll see a lot of tutoring and card draw. I'm thinking that you're mistaking the fact that your deck is consistent because of your theory crafting when it really has to do with the fact that the decks have 20 card limit, which therefore boosts consistency.

>>56880934Pretty good, people underestimate big dick 3 energy unconditional damage with high HP and he can tank Mewtwo's 150 attack even after weakness, the problem comes from Machop and Machoke having high retreat cost with low damaging attacks and average HP so you have to babysit them until you bring Machamp out. If you can get two sets, it would be the most ideal.I use one set with double Sandslash and one Hitmonlee and I've been doing decently well in the event, definitely beats having to pray for Marowak to hit something.

Evolving Pokemon is a stupid feature of the game that's not very well thought out but for whatever reason they decided to leave unchanged here. It's not by happenstance that the best decks are those that lack three-stage evos and require as little evolving as possible because it's so fucking tedious and takes so many turns; especially when your win-condition probably revolves around that ONE mon who's final stage is sitting as literally the very final card at the bottom of your deck.Pikachu EX, Articuno EX, that Blaine deck without any EX mons that has been gaining popularity as of late, etc. They all avoid three-stage mons and focus on anyone that can consistently dish out good damage the MOMENT they land onto the active zone, if not 1 turn after they do. The tradeoff is just too large otherwise. It's a shame because the mechanic feels fun but just inherently puts you at a disadvantage. They should have remade the evo mechanic to instead not rely on drawing but turn based countdown or something where you can draw from a separate evo deck or something. Or make it so you can multi-evo on the same move, but that feels a bit too OP.

If you're going second you want a pokemon that's good at going second, if you're going first you want one that's good at going first. If you run a low count of basics and bolster it with pokeballs or fossils, you'll rarely get the pokemon you want in your active slot. Consistency in this game means consistently having TWO pokemon to pick from in your opening hand every game. Ideally, one that's good for going first, and one that's good for going second. The pokemon you find with your turn 1 pokeball can NEVER go into the active slot unless you spend a resource on it - a resource that could have been spent elsewhere.That's the thought process behind running 8 or more basics in your deck, and subsequently beginning to swap pokeballs for Meowths.

But before you open it, you have to flip every other pack over in counter clockwise rotation starting from that pack (flipping it rightside-up so you can keep track of its place) and then only when you reach the first pack again, do you flip it backwards. Don't just rip the pack open like a barbarian either - you have to be slow and careful with how you open it, and try to make your opening line as straight as possible. The straighter, the better the cards you get. I've opened over 9000 packs by now and can confirm that when following this particular pack opening strategy, I yield the best cards. The times where it didn't work are from me either opening too fast, making too sloppy of a tear when ripping the pack open, or fucking up my pack rotation order.

Basic pokemon can't usually attack for 1 colourless energy on turn 1, potentially deal 40 damage, survive 60 damage from Pikachu, retreat for 1, AND evolve. Those are all really powerful traits that you shouldn't take for granted when you analyze the card. And on top of that, Gogoat has 120 HP, which is a lot for a stage 1 that deals 70 damage.I actually think it's a pretty aggressively statted line for a multicolour deck.

Terribly slow laggy interface, hideous trainer character models, absolute minimum in ways of solo content a player could touch on to learn the fundamentals of the game before diving in the deep end playing with real people.
