Do you ever wonder if gamefreak has been making nupokemon games unfinished barely functional trash because they resent the franchise knowing that every other game they put out is a miserable flop? Like a one-hit-wonder band that comes to loathe the one song they ever made that people gave a shit about?
>>56886745No, Pokemon is just really low budget and Game Freak is really understaffed for such a large franchise.Unless Daddy Nintendo increases their budget, which won't happen because they're already making massive profit with how cheaply made the franchise is, nothing will change
>>56886745>Player peak: 11Wtf?
From what I've seen, the only outstanding thing Game Freak has ever made- besides Pokémon- is Pulseman. So I guess they are just incompetent.
>>56889567I heard Drill Dozer was really good
>>56886804Anon, they're a third party developer. They manage their own budgets. The real reason why this series won't get any better is because even in the state it's in you're getting the most bang for your buck for a monster tamer.
>>56886745Every other game they put out is a miserable flop because they suck at making games, not because of a bias for pokemon.
>>56890426The real reason is kids don't give a monkeys for what 20-something long-term addicts want to see, to justify their years-long junkie habits (where they quite happily ate the shite served up to them, especially if they were born in time to grow into the brand like every kid born between '89 onward was). And Game Freak are aware enough to know whatever they lose saleswise from people like you is more than covered for by the fresh blood entering, returning former players (especially in Switch era) and the dedicated fans, who buy and complete every game they do in the series.
>>56890524Every non-pokémon game they've made since after GBA games (I think) have been a Gear Project effort, which by its nature encourages non-directors to take directorship of a game project (usually of their own creation) and the teams used to make it are all a hodge-podge of talents, also generally doing something that isn't their usual day-to-day work on Pokémon. The games "suck" because it's not a long-term experienced director, with a team of appropriate talents working to earnestly produce a project but a method for GF to train staff who may not see the business end of Pokémon for many many years to glean some business-end game development skills as well as encouraging ALL their staff to hone their creativity, to just *create* something for the fuck of creating something that might be fun to play around with (I've heard people claim Card Jockey was decent enough, but it's not my bag so never touched it).
>>56890572So the non-pokemon games are all just game jam projects? No wonder thwy feel like game jam projects.
>>56890577Yeah. Pokémon is their focus, always has been since it got big and more importantly, it kept appealing directly to kids. Everything else is support for that focus, be it letting some dude with a dream make a game and learn the steps of directing a game or seeing some designer step up and learn a new skill in some other aspect of the process. Because then, they can maybe be used as fresh blood in another department of the Pokémon projects to bring their previous perspective to.
>>56886745No. I think all the leaks should have proved otherwise, the creative department really do give a shit and are very ambitious in what they want to achieve, they're just completely and utterly choked by the shitty business side of it shackling them to retarded deadlines.>>56890319Based, Drill Dozer is underated as fuck. Wish it had got a sequel.
>>56890572all cope, good indie games are made with a fraction of the budget, time, resources, and talentthey suck, simple as
>>56890622It's almost as if they don't give a fuck about making "le indie darling" and just want a game directed by someone other than Masuda, Ohmori or Iwao in the hopes of finding someone just as capable to do the lead man role. Shit, one of only a handful of men to direct two Game Freak-made games fucked off to found his own studio to make his next idea into a full project, there's no doubt had Turner stuck around, he'd have gotten the director's chair for some game in time.
>>56886745I think they're probably mild-mannered adults that enjoy making their toddler games and are completely unaware of the culture of seethe among westoids
