When does red rescue get good? I just beat ginger and medichamp and so far I'm just doing fetch quests and spamming A.Other issues>why do I have to return to each friend area every time to re-add them to my party>the fucking repeated dialogue for every job you finish>all party members are completely AI controlled... in a turn based game>cant even pick your starter for some gay pop psychology quiz I literally got MEOWTH and had to reset for a non-ugly pokemon How is this fun?>but le hecking storyIts literally a bunch of cartoon animals beefing.
>>56894092>When does red rescue get good?it doesn't
>>56894092Unironically the story is the tutorial.Until you finish the story it's going to be very railroady. But once that story is complete it unlocks tons of dungeons and recruits,
>>56894092Hey wait a minute... I saw this copypasta in the /pmdg/!
>>56894230>>56894129So why was everyone shilling these game for the story
>>56894246It has been quite some time since I played the others but for Red/Blue rescue team specifically the story is very simple until you are blamed for natural disasters that was prophesied from a Ninetales and you have to run away from home as you are voted to be put to death to end the disasters. And it goes a little further beyond that. It's not anything special but in regards to how Pokemon stories are normally told it's rather interesting. And later games due get better.
>>56894230he waited 3 minutes on the dot to make it its own thread lmfao>>56894092>>56894246this is like saying "when does it get good" about any Pokemon game when you beat the 2nd gym leader
>>56894246These games came out in the early 2000s. At the time Pokemon games didn't have many stories about Pokemon characters, apart from maybe Mewtwo. Mystery Dungeon is this what if scenario about a Pokemon society, and that scratches an itch for some people.
>>56894092Rescue Team is a bit shallow, probably for being the first in the series. Future games are a bit more content-dense, and there are more types of jobs to take—or, at least Outlaws to fight, which are sometimes proper ambushes where they have a dedicated floor and mooks to back them up later—which keeps it from feeling like same-y fetch quests. You also won't have to rely on taking jobs for content as much anyway, because there's a greater focus on the story and so you end up doing story missions more often. I still think Rescue Team is fine, but there are some itches it just doesn't scratch that the later games do. Like probably anyone else will, I'd most recommend Explorers overall, but if you want to choose your own starter specifically then maybe Super might be best. Friend Areas are gone past the first game and the remake reduces their presence and doesn't force you to manually rebuild teams every time. None of the games let you control multiple party members at once, though. I believe you can switch between them after clearing the main story, but still only control one at a time.If you want a better-executed version of the Rescue Team story specifically, read Ginji's Rescue Team. It cuts out lots of the downtime and the inconsequential parts like the Mankey and then better ties the remaining plot elements together to form a single, focused narrative.
