Literally the only reason to choose Ash is because you're the same age as all the cute girls, whereas with Red he will outage a lot of them, but even then he's the same age as May, only 3 years old than Dawn, only 4-6 years older than Hilda/Rosa, probably around the same as Serena, etc.
