meowstic is the first time gamefreak gave a pokemon 2 forms with meaningful battle differences without a way to change between them, while still classifying them as the same pokemon. it's their fault that natdex numbers have been permanently tainted by reigonal forms not getting new dex numbers despite being completely new pokemon in every other aspect.
