Y’know… I noticed something peculiar about Pokemon fans in real life.If Pokemon gets brought up in a discussion, female fans will always mention they like the series, and if indulged, they will speak about their game and merch collections. However, when it comes to the male Pokemon fans I know, none of them mention they like the series, implying that liking Pokemon is shameful.Why is that the case? This isn’t unique to Pokemon, strangely Animal Crossing and Zelda and other Nintendo games are victim to this scenario as well.

Because it's primarily a kid's series and men feel uncomfortable revealing they still interact with kid's media due to inherent immaturity. Female gamers are rare as fuck in the wild and female pokémon fans doubly so, so when a female brings up the topic, men feel more comfortable sharing their feelings on it.When I was a teenager, I was reticent to mention the fact I played. Now I'm in my 40's, I'll give you chapter and verse on the thing if you indulge my nerdishness.

Things changed from zoomers onwards, gaming was outright considered a masculine hobby when I was a kid but that's not how people view it anymore. A pretty normal childhood experience for zoomers was people playing on minecraft servers etc, even roblox with the younger zoomers and that's without getting in to mobile game slop.
