now that dust has settled, can we agree that all pokemon need to get voiced cries like pikachu and eevee?
>>56931052we have to disagree
>>56931052Clearly not since even GF tought it was a dogshit idea and fixed that kalass mistake in based pla.
>>56931070It's not based if they backpedal on it
>>56931052I hate to defend Game Freak but I prefer the cries as they are. The voice acting for Pokemon in the anime is A-tier cringe. Don't do it to the games as well.
>>56931052Yes, absolutely. It's about time we got rid of those shitty Nokia noises.
>>56931052No. In fact I think we should go in the complete opposite direction, the Stadium direction. I think Pokemon should get cries that sound more like actual animals while still using the cadence of their old cries as a base. Stadium did a fantastic job of taking the cries of the GB games and making them sound like actual animals, some definitely lacked impact, like the Legendary Beasts but the Birds, Starters (especially my niggas Venusaur and Feraligatr), box Legends, Mewtwo and many others sounded fantastic.
>>56932982Excuse me, your what? Jannies, get his ass
>>56933176Jokes on you I'm a brother. You will not stop me from calling my favourite Pokemon my niggas and you will not stop me from nicknaming the Weather Trio with stereotypical ghetto black woman names.
I've never liked the anime's influence on the games as it is. It always felt too saccharine while the games were a bit more real. Call it the 4Kids influence early on, call it the sanitization of Pokémon as a brand over time, I think the anime creates harmful expectations of what the games should be like.
>>56931052Fuck no, i thought pokémon's cries being just their names was corny even as a kid.
>>56933812>while the games were a bit more real."Lol" said the Drapion. "Lmao".
>>56932982Came to this thread just to say that Stadium was the direction that they should've went for the cries. Game Freak's cries for older gen Pokémon in their modern games are just embarrassing in comparison.Anime cries should be reserved for special forms related to the anime and only those forms, just like in Stadium.
>>56931052noin fact we need to go back even further, gen 1-5 pokemon had their cries ruined with the awful changes XY gave to them
>>56931052>trashnime cringeshit>>56932982Based
>>56932982https://youtu.be/2-y71YAHqwI?t=21
>>56933840Gen 4-5 already had the best cries in the franchise and didn't need fixing, gen 1-3 definitely got better with the update though. Gen 1 cries were just very samey nokia noises, while gen 2 and gen3's sounded respectively like fucking farts and burps
no they need to get rid of pikachu and eevee's voice cries and go back to synth garbage. Them being the only pokemon that are different is jarring.
>>56933831Obviously that became less and less of the case as they went on, I'd say particularly after Gen II and then again after Gen IV. But the older games had this somewhat more grounded feeling. Like if the anime was for ages 5-10, the games felt more like up to age 12. They had this quality that made them feel like games for everyone. This concept of what was basically a coming-of-age story influenced by Stand By Me, a Japanese boy setting out on his own journey and going from a small rural town but ending as the most accomplished on the peak of Mt. Fuji is something that can resonate with people of all cultures and ages.
