Can I cheese grind friendship by constantly losing a gym battle?

I love Espeon but HGSS is basically over by the time Eevee reaches 220 friendship.

you'd also lose for friendship for losing and at above 200 you just break even.
it would be easier to take a break from the gyms for a bit and explore various areas of the the region and grind for EXP while hunting or rarer species and shinies

breed a new one, give it the soothe bell found in national park, and train it in the location where it hatched. use a bunch of vitamins on it before leveling it if you can, also with the soothe bell in the place it hatched. that's probably the fastest you can get.

i think it should only take around 20 levels, which isn't much coming from lvl 1. if you don't train it where it hatched it's more like 40

actually don't use vitamins, it's more cost effective to fish up a magikarp and spam 20 X items against it

can't you just walk 50000 steps

In HGSS its so easy to get friendship evolutions. Get EEVEE, give SOOTHE BELL, give MASSAGE (can cheese if you want by day skipping and just do this.) and you can just RUN AROUND.
