>A third type of ability that pokemon can have is introduced named "ultimate abilitie", with the other 2 being regular and hidden abilities>Compared to hidden abilities, ultimate abilities are much harder to obtain, but they also make the pokemon far more powerful>Example: Magnezone has Analytic for its hidden abilities, but its ultimate ability would be Levitate, countering its 4x weakness to Ground.Would this be a cool or bad new feature?
This is legit retarded. giving a second HA might be ok but creating a third tier of ability when we all know in 1-2 gens it will just be an item to give that ability to old mons and during that time only accomplish making the random (now) shitmons you carried with you from whatever previous gen useless is some dumb fuck pokemon go level design.
If they ever make ultimate abilities it's going to be a battle transformation gimmick of a gen that only one mon can pull per battle.
>Compared to hidden abilities, ultimate abilities are much harder to obtain,This wouldn't matter since all competitive players generate their Pokemon using illegal third party programs. Whatever Pokemon become the most broken as a result of their new ability will be used on every team, with perfect IVs and shiny to boot.
>>56938988At this point I can't believe this besides the absolute retards. It's much easier to just use one of those raid gen bots and have a mon thats legal in every way and no chance to fuck it up
>>56938859Just have it be a second hidden ability like in clover
>>56938859Yeah and you need 5000 bp to gain 1 capsule but also for 50 pennies.>promoted to CEO immediately
>>56938859>>Compared to hidden abilities, ultimate abilities are much harder to obtainthat sucksyou end up with the gholdengo problem
>>56938859>”Ultimate” ability is worse than its regular ability and arguably in par with its Hidden Ability
>>56938988There is literally nothing wrong with generating pokemon Forcing people to play roulette to get the perfect team, which is mostly a given, rather than just letting them make the pokemon they were going to breed anyways, is time wasting. It adds nothing to the competitive scene. It doesn't balance anything. It's meaningless, worthless tedium. It does not give anyone an unfair advantage
>>56940889The fact that you're getting this defensive about it makes me think that deep down, you do think there's something wrong with it.All I was saying is that making the abilities hard to get in-game won't do anything for the balance, since competitive players don't obtain their Pokemon through in-game means. You'll never have a situation where only the players who grind the hardest will get access to something like Levitate Magnezone. If you add something like that to the game, everybody will just hack it in immediately, assuming it's more viable than the other options. But yeah, I don't think the argument you're making here is even good. Nobody is forced to play competitive Pokemon. If you view the necessary steps required in order to compete as "time wasting" and "worthless tedium" the correct response is to just simply not play and do something else with your life. It takes a very pathetic level of entitlement for someone to say that they don't like playing a game, but still feel that they deserve to compete and win in it.
>>56940889>There is literally nothing wrong with generating pokemonIt's called "cheating." Stop cheating.>Forcing people to play roulette to get the perfect teamAt this point there's barely any RNG involved, and what little there is is heavily controllable. Stop cheating.>which is mostly a givenExactly. It's easily controllable. Stop cheating.>rather than just letting them make the pokemon they were going to breed anywaysYou're not playing the game, you're just cheating. Stop cheating.>is time wastingIt's the easiest it's ever been, a literal child could do it now. Stop being lazy. Also, stop cheating.>It adds nothing to the competitive sceneAnd cheating actively detracts from it. Stop cheating.>It doesn't balance anythingAnd cheating actively detracts from the balance. Stop cheating.>It's meaningless, worthless tediumIf you don't want to play the game, Showdown exists. Stop cheating.>It does not give anyone an unfair advantageBy your own logic, it does, by virtue of "saving time." Stop cheating. The fact you're defending cheating so hard, tells me that you do, in fact, know it's cheating and wrong. Stop cheating.
>>56938923>>56938988Yeah I like the idea, but if ultimate abilities are the best then everybody is just gonna use the ultimate ability. I'd say what would make more sense is if it's like Mega slots were only one Mon per team can have an ultimate ability and it's announced when entering the field. What ideas do you guys have for Ultimate Abilities?
>>56938859This is exactly what hidden abilities are supposed to be to begin with. You're just throwing in an extra hidden ability for pokemon whose prior one you don't think "fixed" them.
>>56938988good for them for skipping gamefreak paywalls>>56941220shut the fuck up verlisfy
>>56941332I think for an Ability to be "ultimate," it would need to be a new Ability. The problem is it's completely unfeasible for every single family line to have its own. Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 has something kinda similar in concept. Its battle gimmick is that each monster can be fused mid-battle, but every monster in the game has one of several Traits it will provide to the host when fused with them. What I propose is that every "ultimate" Ability is in fact a brand new Ability, but there's only a handful of them - maybe a dozen - that are handed out to Pokemon.>>56941356I'm not Verlisify. Also, stop cheating.
>>56941378okay versifly, also grow a chin
