What type is the moon supposed to represent?
>Moonblast and Moonlight are fairy type moves
>Moongeist Beam is a ghost type move
>Lunala is a ghost/psychic type
>Umbreon is a dark type
>Lunatone is a rock/psychic type
>>
it represents the moon, retard. go outside.

Moonlight was formerly a normal type move and is clear skies in japanese.
Moongeist means ghost of the moon, so no surprise it's a ghost type move.
Umbreon was originally a poison type and the sun moon duality with espeon was a late addition.
Solgaleo, lunala, solrock, and lunatone are all psychic, so it seems pretty clear that celestial bodies are represented by the psychic type.
There's just a handful of oddities that gf doesn't care to correct.

Aren't you thinking of sunny day?

Sun is associated with fire and moon with water respectively in various pagan and occult traditions

it can be represented by multiple types. psychic seems to be the de facto space type, so it's probably the best representation for the moon as a literal object. but the moon also has various associations in folklore and symbolism that are better portrayed with dark or fairy type.

Why does a celestial object which has various meanings and symbols across a broad range of aesthetic philosophies have to be one unified Pokémon type
>>
This is why we need cosmic as a type
