Anyone else feel like Firered and Leafgreen have the best graphics? I feel like when I play Diamond and Pearl that the sprites and everything don't look as good.

I would argue Diamond and Pearl have the best sprites, but not Platinum, except for the new evolutions that were relegated to the postgame in the former two. Look at Hippowdon and Gengar to see why, it's like their Platinum sprites crippled them.

Same. Some sprites are iffy like Lapras (and Tyranitar but the sprite is from RS) but overall the art style and color palette in FRLG is the most aesthetically pleasing and refined out of the 2D and 2.5D games. The overworld chibis are the cutest here too, not a fan of the head-body ratio in Gen 4 where the head is much bigger than the body and especially Gen 5 where the limbs extrude out.

I don't know how but Diamond and Pearl human sprites are a downgrade from FRLG. Humans look so lanky with long limbs in DPPt, a problem they did not have in RSE and FRLG. What happened?

He did nothing wrong.

I always thought FireRed LeafGreen looks uglier than Emerald.
I'll say FRLG looks bettet than RS, maybe.
But vs animated sprites? I can't go back.

I think the overworld sprites and tiles are really ugly. Emerald looks better.

Emerald has better overworld aesthetics imo, but FRLG win for sprites and UI

The overworld sprites in FRLG are too blocky.

I prefer the thinner hp bar in RSE. FRLG's fat bar doesn't feel right when the bar is down to the last few points. RSE's thin bar looks more dramatic since you can see the last sliver of health hanging by the very tip of the corner.

DP must be the most overrated games; hard-carried by people who are blinded by nostalgia for the GTS and DS Wifi.
It's apparently a "golden-era" game despite having one of the least enjoyable campaigns, locking off most Pokemon to postgame gimmicks like Pokeradar, Swarms, Safari Zone rotations, etc., with an engine that is slow as molasses, terrible type distribution in its regional dex, etc.
After playing through it again, DP are honestly less enjoyable than even XY and arguably even SwSh.
Now I see people claiming that DP has the best sprites even though several of its sprites look almost unfinished, like Gliscor (what's going on with those teeth?).
Platinum is also overrated, but at least it fixes the most obvious faults in DP and overall I tend to prefer the Platinum sprites for most Pokemon (NOT Quagsire) over the sprites in DP, RS/FRLG/E or HGSS.
Crystal sprites (for the first 251) are my favorite, though that may just be nostalgia speaking.
I also think BW/BW2 animations are also mostly decent apart from a few examples like Deoxys, Soodowoodo, and Aerodactyl.

This but i dont like gen 4 sprites overall. They have this gen 1 and anime-style shading where the light tone and dark tone are separated by a clear edge. Whereas gen 2 and 3 sprites try to diffuse the edge with anti-aliasing which makes them look more detailed.

dithering
