After playing Pokémon TCG Pocket, I realized the Pokémon Trading Card Game itself is the worst TCG I have ever played and without the EX cards it would have been 1/10, 90% of the cards are the same from almost 30 years ago, most of the cards are useless trash, and the TCG Pocket is a cash grab can’t make a good deck without getting milked (I’ve played mobile games that give you way more free stuff and make way less money but you need more just to play the game)
>>56942557modern yugioh exists?
>>56942557>TCG Pocket is a cash grab can’t make a good deck without getting milkedUnironically get lucky or use pack points
I built network f2p in less than a week. Not sure if super lucky tho. Opened 2 mewtwo and 1 gard. Crafted a gard and Sabrina
>>56942557>can't make a good deck without getting milkedAre you telling me you really can't throw together a Koga trap deck, or a Primeape deck w/ the very achievable promo mankey, or a Rapidash/Arcanine deck after a few days and with some pack points? I find that hard to believe, and I didn't mention any of the typical EX decks. And if you get that unlucky at the outset you can just reroll the account
Who cares about it being a cash grab, every game these days is. What matters is that game sucks.
>flip a coin>heads you lose>tails you winNot talking about any card. You know the game is garbage when going second is this large of an advantage
>>56942557Already made a mewtwo and a Venusaur deck after having to buy a few cards with the tickets but yeah I agree the game is boring and not very balanced with to much emphasis on luck
>>56942557the TCG was always more of a collector's thing than a serious game imo. back in school my friends and I would collect them just to show off, we rarely if ever actually battled lol
>>56942557Pocket is a gutted baby version.
>>56942557honestly the only thing keeping it alive is brand recognition and it only got a boost thanks to scalpers trying to find a new Charizard
>>56942557Then you haven't played magic and pocket is made for literal smoothbrains.
>>56943967>Then you haven't played magicModern MtG (ESPECIALLY online) is fucked from every direction. But I maintain that it's still an excellent game to play with friends or just people who aren't turbofaggots. The extensive rules allow for a lot of expression in deckbuilding, and when everyone agrees not to run the staple meta picks games can be really fun.But I suppose that's not a great argument since most games tend to be a lot better when you're in good company.Online has just ruined the TCG experience by streamlining things to the point where you can't even talk to opponents now. Tabletop games were meant to facilitate interaction. When you face the same 3 netdecks over the course of 20 games it's just exhausting.
>>56942566>YGO>win conflip, win game>Pocket>win(lose) conflip, win gamesame shit really.
>>56943698tis has always been the way with the PTCG, even in modern.
>>56943698>>56945283Yes but you're forgetting one huge flaw and its that there's no resistance. You can basically plow through any pokemon, especially just because of type advantage.
>>56946086yeah, but going second being stronger has always been the case in the PTCG outside of like, the GBC game. typing only matters because of weird matchupslike, a mewtwo deck is gonna get nuked by a koga deck, but still.
>>56943789And it is a better game than the full version.>Can't get truly energy screwed (multitype decks still can)>Stage 2s actually viable>Even stall decks don't make matches take foreverA best-of-5 format for Worlds could be fun, especially if each player brings multiple decks.
>>56942557It's embarrassing how much money people have sunk into a barebones 'game', they really put no effort into this app, would not be surprised if they made it in a matter of weeks with how little thought went into the battle system, the UI, the content, etc
>>56946086they nerfed type interaction to shit so loser whales don't get inconvenienced once they introduce powercreep into this garbage gacha
The vpnx meta wolves all of these problems>no dice flips>no ex mons>no dragoniteFixes game instantly, makes every deck viable, makes game skill based.
>>56944530Pauper magic is king
>>56946593>Stage 2s actually viableName one viable non ex stage 2 besides garde
>>56948380Greninja, hypno maybe
>>56946883continuing pokemon's storied tradition of having redditors make up retarded rules I see
