Is there a story or explanation behind this?
Like, what if they Polled the UK on their favourite pokemon, and these really are Galar's (UK's) most popular Pokemon?
>>
>>56943406
>Sinnoh has the most shillmons that are original to its own region
Really? I couldn’t tell from all the Geodude, Machop, Zubat, Ponyta, Psyduck, Tentacool, and Magikarp encounters.
>>
>kanto is le bad

>>
>>56943466
>Shitmons in basically every generation

Meanwhile Sinnoh has Piplup, Buizel, Croagunk, Lucario, Garchomp, Weavile and the boxart legends all before the NatDex by the way

Name any other generation with this many shillmons, please. Or are you so bad at the game that you're just going to deflect like most Johto criticism with "I can't find them anywhere!!"
>>
That's Paldea

It has so many godawful character/Pokemon designs it'd make you want to be a genwunner
>>
>>56943534
I don't think that's what's being criticized when the same images get brought up in these threads.
People want a pokemon game that can stand on its own without having Gen 1 shoved in their face.
The pandering makes it feel like they have no faith in their own games if they don't include Gen 1 pokemon.
almost like the one time they actually tried that, the games sold really poorly.
>>
>>56943553
nigga them aint shillmons, that's your furry gooner list
>lucario, piplup, garchomp
and maybe eevees and rotom max

>People want a pokemon game that can stand on its own without having Gen 1 shoved in their face
So you agree DPPt is the worst game in the series, right?
>>
>>56943589
I agree that you're using strawmans to try to flame a thread for your amusement.
>>
>>56943466
Anon, that's not shilling. That's "we don't want to make new Pokemon that fill these niches."
>>
>>56943605
Why are you changing the argument to “shilling” when you originally said “shoved in your face”?
>>
>>56943573
I listed Weavile because it was like the only pre-Sinnoh new mon shown off that wasn't a Baby, Lucario or Manaphy. Buizel and Croagunk were heavily featured in the anime too, that's why I listed them and not their evolutions

And you can't say Garchomp isn't a shillmon when it's one of the most accessible Pseudos in the franchise let alone one of the only Sinnohmons to get a Mega and the ace of the most popular Champion next to Blue and Steven. Like you wouldn't disagree with Metagross being a shillmon despite being LESS featured in RSE than Garchomp is in DPPl
>>
>>56943612
NTA; I'm just pointing out that GameFreak didn't include those Pokemon to prop them up, they did it because they didn't want to have to make more Pokemon to serve the role of obligatory cave bat, obligatory Rock-type, obligatory annoying Surf encounter, and obligatory Fighting-type.
>>
>>56943312
>Behold, The most KANTOOO pandering region
Kanto pandering is a good thing, because Kanto is objectively the best region
>>
>>56943622
>I'm just pointing out that GameFreak didn't include those Pokemon to prop them up
source?
>>
>>56943616
i was saying garchomp IS a shillmon, but fucking buizel and weavile aren't. sure they were featured before DP released, but they're not as ubiquitous in merch and stuff today like lucario, glaceon, or piplup
>>
>>56943648
In the Sinnoh games, the Pokemon are placed in such a way that they are meant to be an obstacle to be overcome rather than solely a reward.
In Galar and Kalos, they are put front and center as either desirable things and unavoidable in your face advertising.
To put it another way, in Sinnoh I can use a repel to avoid almost every single Pokemon you listed. In Kalos I can't avoid the first Pidgey or the Kanto starters, I can't avoid Lucario, and in Galar several of the most important boss battles are Kanto Pokemon. Interestingly, Sinnoh has two examples of unavoidable Kanto Pokemon. One is the Shiny Gyarados at the Lake of Rage being one of the first things mentioned in the game, however this is referencing multiple Pokemon titles and more importantly tells you when the game is set in relation to the others. The second is your Psyduck example, which ranges from shitty in being a lazy roadblock where you can't even catch them to being actually brilliant in that it puts a Pokemon in the world doing something it supposed does and has a solution reference something relevant from the franchise's history. It's why Lillie going to Kanto to cure Lusamine at the end of SM is really great and probably the single best element of Kanto pandering in the game (the second best is Alolan Oak being a great joke, it's a shame it's too fucking literal with every regional form being a Kanto Pokemon where only Exeggutor and maybe Ratticate really benefit from it lore wise).
>>
>>56943648
I don't think you realize you're talking to multiple anons.
I also don't think you know what a strawman is.

Ratio of Gen I Pokémon by Generation

Gen I: 151/151 (100%)
Gen II: 151/251 (60.1%)
Gen III: 151/386 (39.1%)
Gen IV: 151/493 (30.6%)
Gen V: 151/649 (23.3%)
Gen VI: 151/721 (20.9%)
Gen VII (Alola): 151/807 (18.7%)

Ratio of Gen I Pokémon by regional Pokédex
>Hoenn Pokédex (RSE): 47/202 (23.3%)
>Hoenn Pokédex (ORAS): 47/211 (22.3%)
>Sinnoh Pokédex (DP): 32/151 (21.2%)
>Sinnoh Pokédex (Platinum): 46/210 (21.9%)
>Unova Pokédex (BW): 0/156 (0%)
>Unova Pokédex (B2W2): 38/300 (12.7%)
>Kalos Pokédex: 110/457 (24.1%)
>Alola Pokédex (SM): 87/302 (28.8%)
>Alola Pokédex (USUM): 98/403 (24.3%)
>Galar Pokédex: 51/400 (12.8%)
>w/ Updates + DLC: +64
>Total: 115/584 (19.7%)
>Hisui Pokédex: 52/242 (21.5%)

Kanto bloat goes
SM > USUM > XY > RSE > ORAS > Platinum > PLA > DP > SwSh > B2W2 > BW

Honestly I'm pretty shocked by Galar's results, but Kanto Pokémon do get an exorbitant amount of attention with Gigantmax and major character usage relative to all the other regions.

This doesn't take into acccount the actual encounters per route. DP is honestly the second worst in spamming Kanto encounters (after GSC, arguably), yet unlike GSC, which at least had a lot of variety, DP spams the same small set of Rock Tunnel Kanto shitmons throughout much of the Sinnoh map. Geodude is in both the caves and the grass. Zubat is in both the caves and even the water, etc. Sinnoh might as well by Mt. Coronet DLC to Kantooooo's Rock Tunnel.

If it were Pokemon, at some stage involving a city and some NPCs, the city would have a street that would simulate Green Hill, there would be a museum in honor of Green Hill, and they wouldn't shut up about the magnificent trees and loops in the region and how they wanted to visit it. Even Tails and Knuckles would mention it.

Yes, how dare they use the only options they had.
>>
>>56946759
Gen 1 had even fewer options and even the Gen 1 games didn’t spam Geodude and Zubat as much as Sinnoh retardedly did. Why not use Mawile or Sableye or Lunatone or Solrock or Aron or Cubone or Larvitar? Or invent a new Rock Pokemon if you’re going to flood the game with a dozen shitty cave areas? Oh right, it’s because they had to shove those Pokemon to shitty postgame gimmicks like dual slot and swarms so people can brag on reddit about how much postgame the game has.

You trade your Gen I Charizard on 3DS Virtual Console up to Sword/Shield and get Gigantamax factor on it. It's pretty easy! Oh, you thought you had a point because Gigantamax doesn't exist in Gen I. Well, it's not like Gigantamax exists in any game outside of Sword and Shield. Which only unrestrained fluid brained animals bought. You didn't buy Sword or Shield, did you?
>>
>>56946977
So Leon also uses a gen 8 Pokemon as his ace, since it’s not available in any other gen outside of 8. And his ace is actually MORE exclusive than any of the other champions. Good to know.

>Unlike others of their species, Pikachu, Meowth, and Eevee with the Gigantamax Factor cannot evolve. Along with Duraludon, they are also blocked from transfer to games other than Pokémon Sword and Shield to prevent them from evolving in other games.

You might have had a point if it were one of these, but Charizard can be transferred out of SwSh into SV and back while not losing its Gigantamax Factor

Ergo, it is not native to Gen VIII
