>>56945257What decks can you make from any packs?Golduck aggro?
>>56945319It doesn’t matter where you pick, it’s just like coin flips and the booster pack wheel, it’s decided what you’ll get before you choose. Pick anywhere, it won’t change what you’ll get.
>>56945269I tried it with dactyl and it wasn't bad. ghastly is your only basic so you guarantee one, you don't need to play pokeballs and can make space for 2 red cards (which is a good card with gengar because you force your opponent to redraw all the trainer cards he couldn't use)
>>56945295Amazing ability isn't really true when you mainly want to stop people from using supporters in the first few turns, where it's very rare you've got Gengar set up.
>>56945326I see youre a glass half empty type of guy
>>56945326Do you have any proof for these claims?
>>56945326You're wrong in that it's decided before you pick. But it doesn't matter anyways.
>>56945335inb4 >they did it in the tutorial!!!
>>56945333It's still an amazing ability. Supporters will only get stronger with time. Stopping them at any point in the game is good. Gengars only fault is how long he takes to set up because, yeah, the early turns are more impactful.
>>56945333True, but it's still pretty baller to be able to not be able to get giovani'd or sabrina.A single potion guarantees you beat pika, no questions asked. And if you can manage it, you can safely build up a 2nd gengar in the back tanks to lack of Sabrina. It also denies the Erika for Venusaur, among other niche late game supports.
>>56945340The tutorial is a scripted event. That doesn't mean that every pack after is also scripted. You need real proof to backup your claims or you'll sound like a tinfoil hatter
>>56945349I know, I'm just calling out the retards that try to use that as the reason wonder pick is rigged
Coinflips are also rigged btw
>>56945355100%dubs of trvth

>>56945367rare candies
>>56945049Still haven't successfully won a single goddamn wonder pick yet
>>56945367Cut the queen. She requires too much setup. Find the king a new partner, preferably a basic EX pokemon or a stage 1. Perhaps Hypno? Hypno can sleep opposing pokemon, which can let the poison damage rack up.
where's the fucking content
>>569453671x Sacrificial Meowth, 1x sacrificial Nidoran, 1x Nidoqueen Line, 2x King line, 2x oak, 2x ball, 2x potion, 2x X Speed, 1x Gio, 1x prayer. You will never beat a haymaker or Pika deck
>>56945353Everything else is scripted in this game, why wouldn’t wonder picks be as well.I’d guess that when you choose a card, what card you then receive would be handled server side, and that would just pick randomly, it wouldn’t actually shuffle the cards. It’s all an illusion bro.
>>56945388>I’d guessNice 'proof' bro.
>>56945390>>56945388it's a 1 in 5 chance either way, why are you even thinking about whether it's rolled before or after you press a card

200 mewtwo packs opened0 fucking tentacruel0 fucking weezing0 fucking grimer 0 fucking muk0 fucking koffingHow can my cards be so disproportionate
>>56945390Well we can’t check the packets in the same way that we can for packs, but it is known that when you pick, your device doesn’t know where any of the cards are, so you’re essentially picking a spot and then the server decides what you got.Why go to the extra effort to code a shuffle when it’s unnecessary?Coins flips work the same way.
Collection thanks are riggedDon't thank any collection and you'll seldom receive themThank 2 people's collections, close the app, come back 10 mins later and you'll get 4 tickets>>56944974>There's also a gyarados/magikarp event happening on friday too that we don't know any details of (which means theres a good chance of a meaty update / datamines)pocket.codex.gg says it's just an announcement for it and not the actual event>Announcement: Mission Event (Magikarp/Gyarados)
>>56945392Because it makes the act of picking a spot pointless, meaning you don’t need to worry about it. Choose wherever because you have no impact on the outcome. If anons knew this then they’d feel less bad when they miss a rare card because they chose top right. It doesn’t matter where you pick, it makes no difference as to what card you’ll fet.

>>56945449I hear you, but that alone theoretically fucks half of your early games, and potentially fucks your midgame too.Decks like Alakazam and Dnite can manage the multi colors, usually, since they are late game threats so the odds of being color fucked by that point are much slimmer.I would think that a dual color bee would necessitate some good early starters while you can work on building bee and making sure he actually has the grass energy you need.

>>56945189Might not be my absolute favorite but definitely top 3I really like the original ex's. A lot of them have this menacing aura to them and the card template was simple but effective at displaying that the card was special. I pretty much hate the Lv. X style that extend into EX and the new SV ex where they are all sticking 1 arm out of the card frame and rest of the card looks like the pokemon threw up on it. I thought it was a good call to just go all the way in SM
>>56945411You shouldn't speak for everyone, there are people that definitely operate under the illusion it's their 2nd guess or initial gut reaction turned out to be true when they miss

>>56945197>>56945383Don't expect anything until around a year in at this rate. What current "bad"/non-top-tier cards rn might become good or potentially game breaking in the futureMy votes go to Gengar EX, Butterfree, Venu EX, and Alakazam
>>56946069He should have 100hp.
>>56945992>>56946046I mean it still sucks but it does have a purpose of setting up a KO for your other mon, and if you don't have it ready yet + porygon didn't get hit, becoming resistant to your opponent who only has 1 color besides haymaker can let you survive a lot of the base mon attacks, and getting up to 60 isn't always easy in base set.Being weak to hitmonchan is a death sentence though for an already bad card.I wouldn't say that base set was "they didn't know what they were doing" as there were a lot of things that were given care and consideration with HP values and damage and stuff, they just had a few cards become outliers, and of course not realizing how powerful unlimited trainers were.
>>56946069Basic pokemon are supposed to be generally weaker than stage 1s, which they chose to ignore with the ex basics.80 damage also matters pretty frequently.
>>56946069Stats gimped for the eventual evolution line
>>56945049>match going about even>opponent makes a massive error and loses the following turn because of itDoes that feel like a deserved win to you? >>56946083>80 damage also matters pretty frequentlyStage 1 is not gonna be out for you to punch them
>>56946082I meant it more as they were exploring the design space and were trying shit out to see if it worked so there were both hilariously bad and overpowered cards

>>56946090As conceded as it sounds it just makes me sigh and shrug."Oh you're retarded I see, that's a shame"I want a ranked mode or smth like that so I can choose to engage in more consistent top-level play without having to rely and set a whole day aside for touneys.Mainly, I just want to play against someone who can actually play the game, surprisingly enough.
>>56945432why does your screenshot have film grain
>>56946106But how would you implement it? You cannot pick the usual energy if you play it? I don't think anyone will appreciate a literal Dark Ritual
>saving up pack points for the second Mewtwo EX>pull one just as I was considering buying goldThanks game, you're alright sometimes.
>>56946095It's just a magic number. 70+80 kills Mewtwo, 90+80 does it through a potion, 40+80 kills Pikachu, or stuff like 90+50 kills Moltres. 80's a really important number in this game. Technically Blaine means you can read it as 90+80 or 120+50 but either way it's an important number.
>>56946106DCE would actually be an incredible buff to old skortchy All you have to do is just give him your fire for turn each turn.Still hard loses to M2 though, but not the non-ex funnily enough.
Why are the higher rarity cards ugly 3d?
>>56946122replaces your energy for the turn and if you're forced to lose one you lose both
>>56946125You cannot always expect Blaine to save a mediocre card. Rapidash and Ninetales work because they dish out good damage even without Blaine. You would have better result using Farfetch'D as the fifth basic over Magmar

>>56946647Isn't it based on how much your deck needs those energies? Not saying that's what happened.

>>56946642There's simply not enough dragon or steel type to make any viable elite decks. Gonna have to wait for a couple of new sets before there's enough dragon or metal cards.
>>56946605too coinflippy
>>56946642How so? You can still win with Dragonite. Just because it isn't as good as Mewtwo or Pikachu doesn't mean it's DoA.
>>56946639You're a retard and you don't understand how tcgs work.
>>56946494Anon, I had a nice sleep of 9 hours, breakfast, and then checked 4chan. Please understand I can't be online 24/7
>>56946650>Isn't it based on how much your deck needs those energies?Nah. I needed the second energy type desperately and it was only giving me the first.
>>56946655Post the other 17 cards. Now.
>>56946659Aren't Dragon decks always going to be dual energy by nature?>>56946661Inconsistent since you not only have to assemble an evolution line but you have to worry about getting the appropriate energy. Dragon Pokemon that wind up not Dragon (like Baxcalibur going Water) have it better dodging that bullet.
>>56946668>you don't understand, I NEED to bring shitposts from the previous thread forward, 9 hours after they would have been relevant
>>56946660Those who live by the blade, die by the blade.>>56946676>still tryingkek, sorry, kid. Your force powers don't seem to be working right now.
>>56946621You're missing the point of the first post, my dude.>doesn't bother trying the deck>wants other people to just give them their experiences so he can skip to the finalized productI'll say it again, redditor. Try the deck for yourself. Throw whatever shit you want into the deck and find out what works. Try thinking for once. What felt good and what didn't? What slowed you down? Are there any alternatives that are faster/cheaper/stronger? What are the trade-offs? Figure this shit out instead of asking for strangers to spoonfeed you. Holy shit, how do you even enjoy the game if you don't want to play it? Are you honestly telling me that pro-players never try their own shit out and just wait for a bunch of nerds on /vp/ to theorycraft for them, Mr. "Professional TCG Cicle"?There, I even put breaks in between each sentence to help with your reading comprehension.
>>56946677>Inconsistent since you not only have to assemble an evolution line but you have to worry about getting the appropriate energy.Yeah, but that doesn't mean support cards can't or wont be printed in the future, and that doesn't make it DoA. It's already kinda good, even if it's just B tier or something.
>>56946664In the actual TCG you can set the ratio yourself
>>56946689When building the deck, yes. When playing the game, no. It's random, my dude.
>>56946672No, like in general. If you had 3 Grass and 1 Fire in your deck, 75% you'd get Grass.Of course you could get unlucky and all that, but I think that's how it works?
>>56946686That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
>>56946698For me, it's>>56945197
>>56946691Yes but we can't do that in this game. There will be games where you get 100% a single color because fuck you
>>56945049
>>56946722Nice pick
>>56946288Just got it, and now there's nothing else to do.
>>56946717>There will be games where you get 100% a single colorYeah. That's called luck. It's a tcg. Luck is inherent in the game's design. Yeah, you can get even more fucked over in this because there's no 100% guarantee that you'll get the proper energy on turn 60 like in the physical tcg, but that's the nature of the game. They changed shit. The original tcg had prize cards instead of points, but I don't see you complaining about not losing 6 cards from your deck.
>>56946676There are enough points on the graph to draw a line2x Krabby+ 1x Kingler2x Goldeen+ 1x Seaking+ 1x Misty1x Helix Fossil1x Sabrina2x Professor's Research2x Poké ball2x Potion2x X Speed
>>56946664Peculiar choice of argument, considering this game went ahead and hardcoded that you open with a basic mon. We're already doing whatever the devs want
>>56946737Sounds like you prefer this energy system to the other energy system. There are people who do not.
Pic related isn't a bad (budget) deck. Actually got someone to concede the second I brought out nidoking(see, I actually post good decks to share with the community)
>>56946754I haven't come to terms with Dark or Metal being a type yet, back in the day, for some ungodly reason they made the energies for them Special Energies with extra effects, meaning you could only run 4 in a deck. What the fuck were they thinking.
>>56946749>fossils in a non-fossil decktop kek

>>56946758At least in this game you can actually run a Dark deck and there is actual Dark support. Steel just has fucking nothing.
Special Shop Ticket is one of the stupidest things they could have put in this game good lord, I just finally paid attention to how you're supposed to get more of themWhy are they asking you to sacrifice high rarity cards for this garbage in a TRADING card gameThese devs are some kind of special stupid
>>56946765Trust in the next set.
>>56946753Preferring one over the other is like preferring ice cream over frozen yogurt. They're very similar, but still different foods. They're different takes on the same product. The physical tcg has much more randomness and a fully built game. The digital version trades complexity for a much quicker game. If you don't like it, the physical game is still available for you to play.
>>56946770>I just finally paid attention to how you're supposed to get more of themWhat??
>>56946770I assume they think that WE think that our surplus rares will be used on flair and once we run out of stuff to flair we'll be upset we can't use our dupes for anythingIt's retard logic so it tracks
>>56946758>I haven't come to terms with Dark or Metal being a type yet, back in the day, for some ungodly reason they made the energies for them Special Energies with extra effects, meaning you could only run 4 in a deck.yeah, just trying this deck out a little bit, poison doesn't seem like it's THAT useful, especially with the fact that the second you put a poisoned mon on the bench, it loses the effect. And the retreat costs are too high to switch out nidoking to lock your opponent in place with arbok for one turn. Now if poison stayed regardless of being on the bench...Though I admit I'm using Arbok because I don't have enough Muk's or Weezings. God, I can't pull darks to save my life. Just one more muk or weezing (especially weezing) and this deck would be much better.
>>56946778>the physical game is still available for you to playor the digital version of the same mechanics the physical version uses
>>56946778>the physical game is still available for you to play.ahhh yes, the cost. the smell. the P2W dads trying to buy their child's love.what's not to like?
>>56946788nidoking would be dozens of times more viable if koga also worked on it
>>56946789Yeah, go ahead and keep wishing for something that will literally never happen. They made Pocket different for a reason. Stop being retarded.
>>56946801the fuck is this idiot saying
>>56946800>nidoking would be dozens of times more viable if koga also worked on itI think it takes to long to build up nidoking though. 3 turns 3 energy. lose all that just to avoid the opponent getting a point? hmmm... now if there was a way to get that dark energy on it quicker or evolve it quicker...
>>56946798The physical game isn't even that bad (when it comes to cost) as far as tcgs go. Magic is far worse across the board. Standard decks are insane because you have to buy a playset (4) of a $40+ card three times over for some decks, and unlimited is far fucking worse. Then again, the last time I looked at physical pokemon cards was pre-covid and I know that youtubers fucked it up for everyone, so I could be wrong.
>>56946639this happened to me this morning retard-kun
Mewtwo ex + gardevoir is quite fun. Only gripe is that I wish the 2 energy attack did more than just 50, which can't even one shot most stage 1s. 60 would be so much better, I could use a Giovanni on top if I really needed to.
>>56946810>the fuck is this idiot saying>or the digital version of the same mechanics the physical version usesDude, I'm still not sure what the fuck you were trying to say to begin with. I interpreted your retarded scribblings as best I could.
>>56946819>Mewtwo ex + gardevoir is quite fun.it should be. it's top 2 deck in the game right now.
>>56946785Other than the ridiculous 300 shop ticket cost, you get them by converting FAs. But get this, you're expected to convert tiptop FAs to get anywhere. It costs 7 for the backdrop and cover, 12 for the coin and sleeve, and 26 for the playmat. Converting a 1 star (you're likeliest to turn into flair) only gets you 1. Converting a 2 star gets you 5. Converting a 3 star/immersive gets you 12. Converting a crown rare gets you 64. But you'd have to be a moron (or a giga whale) to have so many of the 2 star or higher that you'd want to convert them to flair instead of save them for trade fodder. It's completely unreasonable they spent time on this extraneous nonsense.>>56946786It's like they forget this is supposed to be a game about trading, so dumb.
>>56946817>water pikachuYou better not have lost that fucking match, Anon.
>>56946811it shouldn't be your setup mon regardless. put in a shield with a lower retreat cost if you draw it in your opening hand. until we get more sets for better engines stuff like that is necessary. stalling is actually viable for now while the power creep hasn't made everything speed up yet
>>56946288Yes. Now I’m running meme decks in beginner matchmaking.
>>56946819>Only gripe is that I wish the 2 energy attack did more than just 50,Buffing the small attack would make Mewtwo insanely strong. His first attack is supposed to be weak to compensate for how strong the big attack is. If they were both beefy, Mewtwo would be broken. Compare his second attack something like Articuno Ex. Art needs 3 energies for 80 damage and a little bit of splash. Mewtwo only needs one more energy to do nearly double. That math doesn't quite add up. >inb4 but the 150 burns two energiesYeah, that's why they put Gardevoir in the game. If she didn't exist, sure, I'm with you. Let's buff him.
>>56946778>food analogy>completely inaccuratesausage
>>56946824>It's like they forget this is supposed to be a game about trading, so dumb. The trading will supposedly come ((((soon)))) but for some reason they seem to think people won't immediately offload their dupes in trades rather than for flair and special shop tickets. I bet they're scratching their heads rn wondering why people are hoarding dupes instead of cashing them in, not realizing people are stockpiling in anticipation of trading being added.
>>56946825Funny enough he was hard pulling water nonstop which is why he even wasted one on the pikachu.only because he hard bricked too did I win

Okay, I can see that.
>>56946849>ice cream and frozen yogurt are different foods, but functionally serve the exact same purpose>pocket and ptcg are different products, but functionally serve the exact same purposeNo salt. I'm genuinely curious how that's completely inaccurate.

>>56946848The compensation for the strong attack already comes in the form of costing 4 energy and eating 2. I'm not saying I want to guarantee one hit knockouts against everything below ex, just that it shouldn't be one shotting basically nothing. There's plenty of stuff at 70+ hp that mewtwo ex would still need multiple turns to kill with 60 attack if it isn't ready for the big move yet.
OG tcg player here, is the meta stupidly lopsided towards one specific deck like irl started out with Charizard? I had a lot of fun back in the day clowning on $300+ decks using fuckin Mr mime

The battle system is biased against Stage 2>get some of the coolest artworks/cards/effects>they see little action in battle because you have to work through Basic and Stage 1 and energy accumulation for most of the battle's length
>>56946906inb4 they make you consume multiple dupes to get enough tokens to claim a card in a trade, so basically both sides need to spend 5 cards to get the 1 they want from each other or some shit like that
>>56946737You massive retard. The physical TCG has always had a bunch of ways to deal with multitype decks. As previously noted, you determine the energy ratios, so you can run 10x fire, 5x water for a deck that mostly wants fire. But just in the first four WotC sets:>Base Set:>Electrode Buzzap makes it a double rainbow energy>Charizard doesn't care about energy type>Energy Retrieval to grab any energy from your discard (and you end up with many more discarded energy in a 6-prize format)>Computer Search gets you anything>Fossil>Energy Search gets you whichever energy you need>Rocket>Introduced Rainbow EnergyAnd there have been 30 other multitype energies released over the years.Pocket needs *something*, and the most elegant one is just preventing getting energy screwed by setting global streak limits.

>>56945319Bro I need that
>>56946921The physical tcg also had the same problem originally. Power creep eventually changed it. This will be the same, they just wanted to start small so that every new set will activate our FOMO neurons

Let's buff him.>wanting Mewtwo to be good at every point in the gameThe whole point of my post is that Mewtwo is shit early to wreck shit late game. The game needs balance. If he hit hard early and late, then 90% of the decks we see in every tourney would be Mewtwo. The primary reason why Pikachu is more dominant than Mewtwo right now is because he hits hard early and therefore doesn't let the game go late. If Mewtwo could do what Pikachu does early AND what Charizard does late game, he'd be incredibly fucking broken. I bet you're the type of kid that finished the game with a level 75 Charizard, and 3 or 4 level 20-something shitmons.
>>56946921>The battle system is biased against Stage 2>>get some of the coolest artworks/cards/effects>>they see little action in battle because you have to work through Basic and Stage 1 and energy accumulation for most of the battle's lengthits biased for EX. >>56946771The Elite4 mini December set? No.You'll need Jasmine, Steelix, Scizor, Forretress, and Skarmory in the January set.Forretress/Scizor could make for an interesting grass/metal deck.I really hope Skarmory doesn't suck. Metal needs a solid basic.
>>56946921We need an item to tutor stage 2 or a trainer that can force evo stage 1 into a stage 2 that's in your deck.
>>56946921This will change once something like Rare Candy is released. The Exs don't bother me too much. They're big, flashy, hit hard, and make you feel cool, so I understand why they're in the launch set, but it would have been cool to have held off on them for a set or two.
>>56946817I SAID 'SHOULD' YOU NIGGER. CAN YOU NOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IS AND OUGHT?
>>56945223Kid, there's not a single sub service on the planet that won't auto-enroll you for another payment period after the trail expires. That's literally the largest incentive of the trial in the first place. Companies realized that people are fucking lazy and stupid and will forget to cancel until months later when they decide to check their credit card statement (they have PTSD so ignore it, just having it set to minimum autopay) and see they've accumulated multiple payments for a service they aren't even using (credit card companies aren't going to refund you something from multiple months, unlike a single unexpected fee you can try charging back).Sure the other half of it is give the customer a taste of what the red carpet experience is. But they'd really love if you just let it slip your mind. Not this game in specific, but every fucking service that runs on sub models. Sub models are a fucking cancer to everything, and that's why they're included in fucking everything now. Infinite company growth can't happen by providing actual fucking value anymore so it has to instead be made by swindling.Thankfully they do have mercy, probably because of how big Pokemon is and their demographic, and let you cancel early without hassle. Most services nowadays have you click several "are you sure????" dialogues where they play funny games like switching the "yes" and "no" buttons or have you call a fucking agent if you want to unsub.

>>56946951Multiplayer should have two ruleset options:>Anything goes>No rules box (ex)That's it.Articuno and Mewtwo decks barely change, just swapping the normal version out for the ex, and decks play just a bit slower, but it makes so many alternate decks viable that it should happen.

That almost completely removes the rng and is fucking retarded. When you run a multi-color deck in any physical tcg, you are inherently accepting a greater risk of completely fucking yourself over. You know the risks when you make the deck. Don't bitch about it when it bites you in the ass.

There's no way of knowing for sure, obviously, but if I do my pulls on my alt and get a crown rare, would I have gotten that on my main if I had pulled at that exact moment on that account instead? >>56947653reread giovannithe answer is no
>>56947653It definitely doesn't buff the 10 from sharticuno. I think the exact wording on Giovanni says damage from active pokemon attacks on the active Pokemon.

>>56947652Flipping coins is the exact kind of output randomness that players tend to really hate. Of course they should get rid of it. They should have gotten rid of it 20 years ago, but it’s too late now. This is how the game is.Energy cards in the deck is a different kind of randomness, one that the player has a LOT more control over and is therefore better. Yes, you can lose to variance, but new players tend to blame the system rather than their shitty deckbuilding when it happens. You can lose to variance in coin flips, too, but with the supposedly “old, outdated” system you still have the option to maximize your win percentage despite the shitty draw. No such luck with coin flips. A card game needs variance. Pocket just chose the wrong kind
>>56947648People wouldn't have time to chat in a battleThey should add clans/guilds insteadBut this game is very casual so I can't see that happening
>>56947664>During this turn, attacks used by your Pokémon do +10 damage to your opponent’s Active Pokémon.Water Shuriken isn't an "attack", so it shouldn't buff it.
Do I save on the hourglasses for next packs or just keep using it for the chance of getting 10 or so nonstar cards I still don't have in the packs right now
>>56947679>>56947641For me, it's having a separate deck consisting of only your energies, the best energy management system. It does need balance around it though, Force of Will did this but also revolved around your ruler being your main special card, and while you always had the ability to get an energy per turn, you both still built the deck and ratios yourself and actually paid an opportunity cost to get your energy per turn, since if you did that then you wouldn't be able to "activate" your big special main card which put them into the field to do all their special cool stuff.
>>56947627The existence of Kengaskan disproves your argument because if they go second they can one shot most basic mons off a coin flip and you can’t really build against that.>>56947641Getting mana screwed isn’t fun and the energy is good, but it is also random, which is bad, if it was one of each energy every other turn it would work because>powerful moves like Zapdos 3 electric energy would then be forced to turn 6 if you dual energyed >you could actually play more than 2 colors without risking an L for no reason.
>>56947689Save if you have Mew, spend if you don't.
>>56947376Nah, that's wrong. You need to find one that has a bent corner AND is naturally flipped, then you flip it forwards and then you look for a DIFFERENT bent corner pack and it will be a god pack. If there is no other bent corner pack, then open a different naturally flipped pack - it guarantees at least one rare.Since you flipped the first pack you won't know when you actually get back to it by going around the wheel. If you end up opening it by mistake it will be full commons.

You can't defend against it but it happens so infrequently that it's not worth worrying about. I don't really think kangaskhan is all that good of a pick for any deck as it's too reliant on hitting that 1/4 chance.

>>56947738>Whatever you say, anon. I’ll bet the 100th game was really fucking boring, though, if anybody’s ever played that manyAt least when I played there was a decent amount of deck variety, sets came out pretty regularly and added variety, shifted the meta etc.Your argument stems from the necessity of randomness to induce variance in order to keep games from being stale, but that's just one easy way to help it out,You can have plenty of variance in different match ups, additionally if you are side-decking in accordance.Having energies in the main deck has pros and cons, and will lead to a slower, more luck-dependent game which also heavily boosts the usefulness of search and draw cards. With a split main and energy deck you allow for deck and energy to be more consistent, which speeds up the game and makes it less luck-dependent,If you think about something like chess, there is an extreme amount of variance in the amount of opening moves you can make, and that does not rely on luck.Just moving the energies outside of the deck doesn't make every deck 100 percent consistent and you still need to plan around adjustable variance in your turn 1/2/3 plays, it just means you can actually DO something each turn instead of just putting down a land and passing because you have shit all in your hand.Or having nothing but lands in your hand and simply being in top-deck mode.Is this the type of "variance" that you praise so much? The new beautiful gamestates of being either landfucked or land starved? I'd rather have a more consistent deck and have them create variety in new cards, set rotation, etc. rather than having more luck-dependent potential to get fucked over. It ends up making more strategic and less luck-based, which isn't inherently death-inducing.Naturally for FoW you had a smaller hand size compared to pokemon and magic which helps against consistency, well it's 5 so same as pocket but that was with a 40 card deck not a 20 card one.

>>56947594I had that issue too at first. You're flipping it the same way every time so of course you always fail. Find a way to get heads, and then replicate it. I have pretty much 100% success rate now.
>>56947820I mean, that really isn't a hot take. I legit thought that's what happens on the first turn until I battled. It should be like Yugioh where you can do everything except attack.

Beautiful feeling cards, I loved just touching them.
>>56947814it might be worth saving them if the way trading gets limited is that you can't trade the current booster but can trade everything older. >>56947847>minimizing RNG and trying to keep yourself out of a bad sitution100% correct. Deck building is at 65% of the skills needed to win consistently. Anyone saying otherwise is coping hard. This is the first lesson I learned at 12 after I entered my first Magic tourney at the local quarterly anime convention and got my shit kicked in. The second lesson I learned is how important deck thinning is.
>>56947738>>56947808I'd also like to say I don't even dislike energies in the main deck, it just has a bit of a different feel to it, and no it doesn't feel good to be forced to pass since you can't do shit because of the inherent increase in randomness that having energies in the main deck causes. There is so much more that goes into a game and the long term health of it than just making things more consistent and faster, though it should be handled with care.I also will say I don't like how Hearthstone does things since there is no cost to getting energy every turn, same for pocket, but again in Force you usually WANT your Ruler card out in the field, but you also want energy every turn, so it can be fun deciding when the best time to flip your ruler and put them in the field was, since doing so sacrificed your per-turn energy, and of course if you chose to get more energy then you can't put your ruler into the field.A bit more off-topic than before yeah but I'm not going to have another opportunity to really talk about this game, and I liked how it did the energy deck that I haven't really seen other games do, since if they do then there is no cost to it and just like Hearthstone Shadowverse which is lamer and also isn't an actual deck either and just something that builds each turn regardless of player agency. >>56947828It's a shame I had a nice local scene for a while but it both became too overly meta and future sets were less interesting with the new game mechanics and characters art what have you, also the people around me dying out so being left with basically nothing.Touching the cards now and comparing it to pokemon and yeah the pokemon cards and yugioh for that matter feel very paper and flimsy, but the FoW cards have this nice thickness and silky texture on the back. Is the gold worth buying at all? was thinking of getting that deal that was like 8 bucks with a bunch of free gold or something then using that gold for the next set of cards
>>56947834It's therapeutic to complain about it because there's nothing you can really do about it. Fix your ratios? Almost impossible (at the current time) when you can only have 2 copies of cards per deck, the limit is 20 cards, and building is fairly streamlined. The most you can do right now is just play whatever the best deck is that's good going first or second.
>>56947971Wait until black friday, there will be deals
>>56947954Agreed, especially since this is the one it usually got attached to. The lv x era was strange, but at least they made it so that lv x cards were treated as not having a different name, meaning a full playset only was 2 of each
>>56947971The only $ spending that makes sense is the monthly subscription since it is worth 30 packs.
>>56947153Because playing against Maxx c blows dick, and the coin flip of first/second is about a million times worseOff meta deck building that can win a decent amount of games vs meta is also actually possible here in pocket, the most deck building you do in yugioh is optimizing deck lists and hand trap suites unless you're a literal god that can put together table 500 stuff or come up with dragon link type stuffIt's also easier and more casual than md, so for a phone game it's pretty bis, plus the input lag on mobile is miserable to play withMD is generous as fuck tho, you can build every big meta deck on every set release possible if you really wanted to
so uuuuuuhhhhh what's the point of wonderpick once we're able to trade cards?
>>56948010knowing which friends to beg trades off of
>>56947979>The most you can do right now is just play whatever the best deck is that's good going first or second.top kek. I got 50 wins in less than a week playing casually and the most "meta" deck I have is Venu/Lilligant. A lot of what you just said sounds a lot like cope.
>>56948010More inventory for fodder I guess. Especially if the dupe dust starts being required for something actually functional at some point.
Is venusaur + liligant deck any good? It seems like it should work but i see people use the tree instead
Parasect is underrated.
>>56948010We don't know how trading works, and I'm assuming you'll only be able to trade things that you have 3 or more of, and it will probably only allow trading for cards of the previous expansion, and even then it might not allow trading for all of the cards in the set. Wonder Pick is free, like you'll always be regenning Wonder Pick energy, it will be available for the current set, and you wont have to trade anything away in order to get a card.
>>56948034The values of eggs is he only needing one energy. Liligant needs to live two turns to repay you.
Just watch, trading is only going to be 1 card for 1 card, and they must be equal rarity. It's gonna suck so much.

>>56947483The ting about Kanga is that he's such a threat and has such a large HP pool for a basic that him being an immovable wall is fine. Unlike Snorlax who just sits there as a fat sack of shit with no intimidation factor, Kanga with a lucky coinflip can seriously cripple or take out whomever is on point so has to actually be respected. You're supposed to lead with Kanga and DBZ powerup behind her. Your opponent will be too scared to bring out something heavy hitting because Kanga can fuck their shit up, so it buys you a lot of turns. The obvios drawback is if you get Kanga late game she becomes way less useful. I've still sometimes picked up a surprise win in the end using her as a hail mary in the final stretch but chances are if you get her late game she'll be staying in your hand.I think the tradeoff is worth it. I don't mind not being able to retreat her cause she actually does damage.
Am I retarded to keep pulling on Charizard pack for the hopes of full art Sabrina even though I haven't touched the Pikachu pack yet?

The first lesson that all pocket players should learn when deck building: If you need to cut cards from your deck, red card should be the first to go. It doesn't matter whatsoever what your opponent is doing if your deck isn't doing what it should be doing. Focus on getting your house in order before worrying about what the opponent is doing.

I don't really need wonder hourglasses right now but its still better to clean out the monthly shop since the rest is permanent, while monthly is limited and will resetright?
>>56948239Yes.
>>56948228So I know whether I should concede immediately, instead of waiting for 3 turns?
>>56948239It seems the non-monthly stuff will just never refill once you buy it out, while monthly stuff refills every month, and is more expensive because of that.
>>56948239>>56948245The only way buying monthly first matters is if 1) It is impossible to buy both monthly and cheap before month resets and2) At some point in the future we will get a surplus of tickets such that we can now buy monthly and free in the same monthAlsoIf you run out of tickets and didn't buy all the monthlies than GUESS WHAT you bought more hourglasses in total because they were cheaper so you spent your tickets more efficiently.the only way you "profit" from buying the monthly ones before they go away provided you wouldn't have had enough to buy both that and the cheap ones is if they, in the future, give us a lot of tickets. And again, if you buy the monthly stuff and then the cheap ones it doesn't matter cause you bought it all anyway.
>>56948247So that you can see what you're going to draw, plan accordingly, or shuffle it away with Pokeball.
>>56948239Absolutely 100%. The price difference between the monthly and one-off purchases is bait to make new players miss out. Same reason you have to scroll down to see the monthly stuff.
>>56948135Why can’t we have 22 card decks bros, 20 isn’t enough

>>56947679They should get rid of coin flips and replace them with D20 rolls
>>56948735They should make it so the premium pass gives holders a 0.5% increased probability of winning a coin flip (also let them pick if they want to go first or second after winning the first coin toss). If both players have a premium pass than it's just like normal.
