Sorry this one took so long. Finals kicking my ass

>How old were you when you first played a game in the series?
I can’t recall exactly, but it was in middle school. Started with Sky.
>Would you ever want to see a PMD game have starters be fully evolved pokemon instead of pre-evos?
I can’t say I do, their cute tiny statures accomplishing such world defining tasks always puts a smile on my face
>What starter typings do you think get screwed over the most in each PMD game?
I’ve played the most of Red/Blue Rescue Team to confidently say Grass types get cocked hard
>Favorite townsmon?

>>
>>56955565
>How old were you when you first played a game in the series?
I got Red around when it came out, so I would have been 10 or 11. I think the fugitive arc was the exact moment I became a preteen.
>Would you ever want to see a PMD game have starters be fully evolved pokemon instead of pre-evos?
Nah, evolving is a reward for hard work.
>What starter typings do you think get screwed over the most in each PMD game?
Ground's got some issues, in RT especially.
>Favorite townsmon?
I like that Team Tasty gets their own little arc, that's more than most townies get.
>>
>How old were you when you first played a game in the series?
16, first game was dx when it came out
>Would you ever want to see a PMD game have starters be fully evolved pokemon instead of pre-evos?
sure but you'd need some sort of pre-existing story to make it work but it has a lot of potential
>What starter typings do you think get screwed over the most in each PMD game?
idk probably ground but there's hardly any starter-ish ground types
>Favorite townsmon?
i like the caterpie and metapod they have a lot of hope for tiny bugs
>>
>How old were you when you first played a game in the series?
I'm not really sure. I was into Pokemon for a few years before Time and Darkness came out and I think I got both versions for Christmas in their release year. A core memory for me is crying while watching the Explorers credits at my grandma's house.
>Would you ever want to see a PMD game have starters be fully evolved pokemon instead of pre-evos?
I feel like EoS Randomizers scratch this itch more than enough, but I'd like to see something where starter/partner evolution is a part of their story arc growth.
>What starter typings do you think get screwed over the most in each PMD game?
I have oddly-intimidating memories of Steam Cave and Dark Crater in Explorers, so I'll say Grass.
>Favorite townsmon?
Team Ebony (Shuppet/Murkrow) in Explorers. Their drive to hunt for rare shiny treasure items still encourages me to cycle through days in-game to try and get a legit Golden Mask mission from the Job Board.

After a lot of procrastination, Project Orion 2.11 is now here! This update features one new evo line, one completed evo line, and various tweaks. Get it here! https://mega.nz/file/IYNlWbAJ#n4nBQjIhSw3XG5Otw8urVilZGHlyEjS7OWR7ZEu_6lc

-Smoochum and Mew are now Fully Featured!
-Updated Minccino's sprites. Its walk cycle should look less crazy now.

-Litwick's line is now here! In IQ group G, it'll be a good help for any team. The line is in Concealed Ruins, and Litwick can be found on 1F-7F, Lampent on 17-20F, and Chandelure on 25-29F. Swap item will come next update.
-Cinccino is now added! You'll need a Shiny Stone to evolve into it, or you can find it in Happy Outlook, on floors 10-14.

-Quadrupled the Aura Bow stat gains, going from the pathetic value of 1 to 4 in each stat. Still not spectacular, but at least now it has use.
-Halved the chance that Aurora Beam halves your attack. Originally, the chance was 60%, but now it's 30%.
-Buffed Charge Beams Special Attack boost chance from 40>50%
-Buffed Dragon Rage's damage from 30>40. It's ranged now, too.

-Buffed the Munch Belt's offense gain from 8>12
-Buffed the Oren Berry's damage from 10>30. Better make sure that's a real Oran Berry you're eating.

-Changed the level at which Umbreon learns Feint Attack from 36>16
-Changed Power Gem's move description to properly describe the move's range

-Cut the message that gets spammed if you're using a Solar Power mon in sunlight. You'll still take small damage, but you won't be spammed by messages that slow you down.
-Fixed the constant Screen spam throughout the dungeons that have Light Screen/Reflect. No more will the enemies use it when you're nowhere near them.

>How old were you when you first played a game in the series?
About 9 or 10. I was in 4th grade I believe
>Would you ever want to see a PMD game have starters be fully evolved pokemon instead of pre-evos?
Unless we're talking eeveelutions, absolutely not. I do enjoy playing as an umbreon out the gate though
>What starter typings do you think get screwed over the most in each PMD game?
Grass just takes it across the board. All the flying types in rescue team and that postgame dungeon in Gates are the two examples that come to mind. They're weak to bug types as well which are just too common. Getting bullet seed is their only saving grace, and honestly I believe it's overrated.
>Favorite townsmon?
Plenty of good vendors in the series so I don't really wanna talk about them. I remember Vigoroth from Explorers pretty well. He didn't do very much but I liked his energy. Lombre was also just kinda chill

Cool shit, I'm definitely playing this. Speaking of, anyone know how I could bind joystick input and D-pad movement at the same time on DeSmuME, or is that not possible? I want to control my team with joystick in Treasure Town and use D-pad in dungeons.
>>56956483
I imagine for a being that controls time itself, it's aware of all timelines at once, which ends up being a form of omniscience, so he probably just noticed "the present" when the partner relapsed and granted their wish
>>
>>56956501
>Speaking of, anyone know how I could bind joystick input and D-pad movement at the same time on DeSmuME, or is that not possible?
Not that i know of. Best I can guess is you could use Joy2key or something similar to bind dpad/stick to the arrow keys.
Also if you play Orion, be sure to check the changelog. There's entirely too much changed to post in this thread.
>>
>>56956546
>Also if you play Orion, be sure to check the changelog.
Yeah I skimmed the changelog, seems like something up my alley.
>Joy2Key
I'm thinking about it a bit more and what I want probably wouldn't work on DeSmuME at all, because the DS doesn't have a built-in joystick, only the 3DS, and the Explorers games aren't coded for it. Playing my own copy of Sky on my 3DS, I can use both joystick and d-pad, but joystick still only has 8 degrees of movement, which is fine, and I have no idea if that can be changed, but I think I'd have to use a 3DS emulator to do what I want for now. That's if 3DS emulators can run regular DS games. I haven't emulated 3DS before, so idk
>>
>>56956623
The overworld movement stuff shouldn't be that much of a dealbreaker, since most time will be inside of dungeons.

Feel free to post your thoughts on Orion in the thread. It might be a thread mostly filled with clover guild stuff but we always like seeing people's playthroughs.
That and I need to know if some areas are too hard or if something isn't functioning right. Gotta make sure everything's up and running properly.

You're right, I just had a really tough time playing through Sky recently on my DSi XL. My hands were cramping a lot, and diagonal movement using the d-pad was a pain, but hopefully it should be better on emulator with a controller.
>>56957260
>Feel free to post your thoughts on Orion in the thread.
Will do, especially if something noteworthy crosses my mind. I'm not too familiar with what the hacking scene is currently capable of though, so we'll see, I guess. Looking at the starter/partner list and I have no idea what I want to go for, but with new options, that's more of a good sign in my book.

If you aren't feeling the starter picks, you can always change them out in Skytemple yourself. It's a very easy edit.

I mean it was a little rough after Sneasel ran out of Quick Attack PP and I wanted to keep my Max Elixir since I was close to the end of the dungeon.
And Drowzee almost 3-shot Sneasel with Pound, but she used Screech and my singular attack Poison Sting did the rest.

Yup, Gligar sleeps in the bed now. No more entering a tweaking fit at the sound of Sneasel sleeping.

A bit of instant feedback about Gligar after doing a normal day of missions. Poison Sting sucks and over 4 days of dungeons, I've exhausted its PP in 3 of them because its accuracy is terrible. It went up from 73 to 90% in Gates, so I'd ask to either buff its accuracy or give Gligar Sand Tomb at the start from being an egg move, so he can actually have some damage in the first few days besides his regular attack. I'm not sure, but I think the "reduced EXP for not using a move" is still in the game so it felt bad for that to factor in unless I Sand Attack'd something before mashing A.
Sneasel's fine, it's just that there was a whole bunch of Pokemon in Gen 4 that they didn't bother giving well-spaced-out moves until later generations, and Gligar happens to be one of them. Like I was considering adding in Trapinch as a starter but this moveset isn't exactly appealing for Mystery Dungeon and I don't know how to properly balance it.

Practically traced Lliam dancing with Muscari (who I never knew existed before) here:

My first one was RT DX, the best gameplay and you'll be ready for Explorers afterwards. Explorers steals a lot from Rescue Team, including themes, dungeons and tropes, so it's better to get through RT first. BRT if you cannot play DX, but be prepared for some roughness around the edges.
Also never listen to or reply to any posts which say "only play explorers"

Looks like Gligar slipped through the cracks in a couple regards, didn't realize Poison Sting's accuracy was that bad. I don't think I want to buff it that much, probably somewhere in the 80's is okay, but how does Wing Attack sound for a L1 move?
>>
>>56962071
Wing Attack in earlier levels sounds good.

Something else I'd like to bring up is the few moves that bypass accuracy checks. I'm thinking about picking up an Aerial Ace TM for Gligar, but it has 8 PP. I get that Flying is a good offensive type, but when I replayed Sky and saw Vulpix got Faint Attack as an egg move, and it was buffed to 25 PP (despite having the lowest base power of no-miss moves), since Aerial Ace is the only one that can be taught through TM, 8 PP just feels so low unless you have IQ skills that help with that, which Gligar doesn't. I saw you buffed Swift from 8 to 12 PP, what are your thoughts on bringing Aerial Ace to around the same amount? Maybe 10? Or do you think 8 PP is the proper trade-off for it being a TM?
>>
>>56962242
>>56962242
>Vulpix got Faint Attack as an egg move, and it was buffed to 25 PP
I didn't buff that, Chunsoft actually thought that was a fair amount to give it.

>>56962274
>I didn't buff that
Yeah that's what I meant, that it was buffed from 8 in T&D to 25 in Sky when Vulpix was made a starter/partner.

I think Magnet Bomb with 12 base power for 10 PP is odd for basically being a signature move exclusively for Probopass and the Magnemite line unless you added it to some other Pokemon, especially since Steel isn't a great offensive type in Gen 4. Aura Sphere with 16 base power at 10 PP seems fine since it's LoS and the strongest of the no-miss moves. I don't remember if there's other accuracy check bypass moves in Gen 4 that haven't been addressed yet.
Other than that, there's nothing I can think of right now, so go ahead and update it. I'll try to write stuff down if I think of feedback/suggestions in the meantime, so I can just list them all in one post. Thanks for hearing me out.

The way they choose PP never made much sense to me, I remember Mega Drain is simply better than Absorb in every category, even PP.
Anyhow, here you go. I'm always in these threads if you've got questions or comments. https://mega.nz/file/UY9iBCQb#V6z3DUQ5iaW3vSEpad73WOEK03ktf87kQG-PtMc54PY
>>
>>56962351
You mentioning this made me decide to just compare all the HP-draining moves in Sky
>Absorb: 1 power x 15 PP = 15 (no TM, learned by many non-Grass mons)
>Mega Drain: 8 power x 17 PP = 136 (no TM)
>Giga Drain: 12 power x 10 PP = 120 (has TM)
>Drain Punch: 13 power x 8 PP = 104 (has TM, also cuts corners, wtf? lol)
>above have same accuracy, 88%
>Leech Life: 4 power x 19 PP = 76 (no TM, pre-Gen7-buff so its buffed form isn't in any MD game, 90% accurate)
>Dream Eater: 20 power x 13 PP = 260 (has TM, needs target to be asleep, 100% accurate)
I guess the some of them benefit from the Ivysaur/Golbat/Gloom/Bayleef/Grotle exclusive items that allow them to drain the full damage amount, but still, its so weird.

Also Gligar got Dream Eater as a tutor move in Gen 3 for no reason and then when it was a TM in Gen 4 they said "no that's too strong"??? That's just as stupid as Vulpix not being able to learn Energy Ball via TM til Gen 5. Thank you for fixing that in Orion btw I was so upset when I found that out in my Sky playthrough.

Base power's another thing, i know Stomp has an oddly high amount of base power in the game data, but ultimately base power really doesn't mean much at all. Hell, Thundershock has a BP of 1, and yet it doesn't feel any weaker than something like Water Gun, which definitely has more than 1.
Chargeup moves like Dig and Focus Punch are only powerful because the game's code applies a flat 2x damage multiplier to such moves
>>
>>56962477
Wait so it just wasn't standardized until the 3DS era? What the hell. I thought base power correlated to the number of stars on the stats screen, but I think I remember seeing a few places where things didn't line up. How would you go about adding new moves then? Do you just use other moves as a reference or would it be better to just uproot it all and re-standardize move stats in the DS era?

Noticed that, it's a nice addition. Also, I was wondering something about Sky hacking.

I'm the Golett-anon (name I'm going by I guess) that's been writing an intro to an intro for the Clover Guild stuff, and I was wondering if I wanted to put Golett in the game, is the Ghost-type walk-through-obstacles trait hardcoded to the Ghost type, or is it a flag for certain Pokemon?
I guess the same question extends to Flying types and for how they can fly over water/lava.
I ask cause I imagine a Ghost starter would be kinda broken for that reason, so if its one that isn't physically ghost-like, like Golett, could it be toggled off?
>>
>>56962995
>is the Ghost-type walk-through-obstacles trait hardcoded to the Ghost type, or is it a flag for certain Pokemon?
Each Pokemon has a specific movement type, like Water for pokemon like Wooper who can enter water fine, Lava for your general firemons, and Phase Through Walls for anywhere. I should stress that you must set this for both male AND female of a species, I've fucked up before with one form of Ribombee being unable to hover over terrain.
As far as adding pokemon, it's not THAT rough, but you gotta check out the repository, lucky for you it seems complete. Adding sprites/portraits should be self-explanatory. Just remember that there's a lot of stuff that's gotta be set for both the male and female, like ability and base stats.
>>
>>56963021
seems easy enough, I think I'll try that on my own time sometime.
>you must set this for both male AND female of a species
Does that also go for genderless Pokemon? And how different are base stats in PMD compared to the mainline games? I think I remember hearing that stats cap at 255 and HP caps at 999, but I have no idea how base stats work.
>>
>>56963065
>Does that also go for genderless Pokemon?
for most pokemon there's Male/Female but for genderless it'll just show Genderless/Invalid.
As far as base stats go, they don't really mean anything when compared to mainline. Smoochum has higher stats than Suicune by nearly every metric, for example. Personally I'd recommend copying the stats from a similar ghostmon, and importing the levelup tables from them as well, tweaking a bit here and there if you wanted to give Golett more of a defensive slant.
>>
>>56963074
Oh yeah, forgot to mention but when I say "base stats" I mean "the stats the pokemon will have at Level 1." Stat gains on levelup are fixed for each level, and those are changeable.
>>
>>56963074
>>56963096
I see. Of the ghostmons that are in EoS already, I think the closest in stats to Golett/Golurk is the Banette line, at least in terms of the main series. Just missing a bit of HP, Def, and SpD.

Okay, what the fuck, Bidoof has the same HP stat as Golett in the main series, and Shuppet has lower than both, but Shuppet's base HP in Sky is higher than Bidoof's by like 16 points.

Sucks that I can't just open Gates or Super and check Golett/Golurk at level 1.

Will Toge's head bump ever heal? Or does he wear the band-aid for identifying purposes at this point?
>>56965350
I'd say yes, but couldn't tell you which one to play first. Explorers is pretty similar to Rescue Team, just with a fair bit more to do. I found Super really empty and hollow with really dumbed down mechanics, and I expect the newest remake is much the same, which is sad.
I've been meaning to figure out how to emulate Gates to Infinity since it's the one I never played.
>>

It's the only thing keeping his overwhelming power contained.

It's sad that you would make this assumption. Have you tried playing? Because DX challenged me more than RRT and EoS combined.
>>
>>56965350
Are you capable of having thoughts that don't involve bragging about how smart you are or how much you want to have sex with animals?
If yes: play Blue Rescue Team. If you want more story, play Explorers of Sky, then Gates to Infinity, then Super Mystery Dungeon. If you want more gameplay, play Super Mystery Dungeon, and from there if you want even more gameplay figure out which games you want to play based on your preferences, consider playing the non Pokemon games as well.
Otherwise, only play Explorers of Sky and claim it's the best video game of all time. Don't even inform yourself on what other games exist, if the topic ever comes up invent criticism on the fly and if someone points out that you don't know anything about the games just say that it's because of how "forgettable" they are.

Not wooperdev here.
It's possible but it requires a lot of scripting. I looked at video explaining how to do it because I was working in my own hack once (no, you will never play it). It's extremely fuckin' complicated, especially for someone like me who can barely stitch together cutscenes

Okay so I've got a bug that's still in the newest version related to Gligar animations.
Currently it's using the animation "Laying" for (I assume, since I'm past it) the beach scene and also all the guild sleeping animations, except during cutscenes like >>56960292 where after everyone's done talking, your character is normally supposed to fall asleep into a breathing animation, which on the repository is "EventSleep".
Currently during those cutscenes, it switches to "Special0" making it look like Gligar is tweaking out in a fit of rage at Sneasel. Unfortunately I didn't get a recording of the bug, and I'm about to start the Expedition chapter, so I won't be able to get one for a bit. Hope I described the issue well enough for you.

https://sprites.pmdcollab.org/#/0207?form=0
>>
>>56968707
Alright, this shit is probably because Gligar's a storymon and the game is trying to call that. I'm pretty sure it likely worked properly in an older version.
There are two gligar entries in the lineup, solely because i was worried about something like this happening. I'll look into it.
>>
>>56968750
Looks like EventSleep's index number is 13, and Special0's is 13 as well. Gligar's EventSleep was set to 35. Deleted Special0 for the protag Gligar's entry, and moved EventSleep. Have to run through the intro again to test it, so bear with me.
>>
>>56968750
>>56968758
No worries, take your time. It's not exactly game-breaking lol. On the other hand I am noticing something about the logistics of playing a Flying-type leader that I wasn't aware of before.
I don't know if this is even possible to change/fix, it doesn't sound like it would be, and there's an easy solution to it anyways, but in dungeons with partial water like Waterfall Cave and Craggy Coast, running down hallways stops you at every corner of walkable terrain, which for Flying-types is anything that isn't a wall.
The easy solution is to just not run through hallways, and rewire my muscle memory.

>in dungeons with partial water like Waterfall Cave and Craggy Coast, running down hallways stops you at every corner of walkable terrain, which for Flying-types is anything that isn't a wall
That's a problem with taking certain starters in general. I'll ask around but I don't know if there's any kind of fix for it.

Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute to just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became a Pokemon in the guild called Clover
In another reality I was born and raised
Shitposting on 4chan was where I spent most of my days
Raging' out, trollin', fappin', all cool
Livin' in the basement, after droppin' of the school
When a couple of Legendaries and Mythicals who were up to no good
Started making trouble in my cosmic neighborhood
I got in one little accident and my life ended with little fanfare
But mysterious spirits said, "You're getting isekai'd as a furry, so there!"
I woke up in a forest and a little guy came near
Was wearing just a scarf and was grinnin' from ear to ear
If anything I thought that this guy was a clown
But I thought 'Nah, forget it' - 'Yo, bro! Take me to town!'
We ventured up to Capim in the evenin' and it was quite late
And I yelled to the critter 'Yo, bro! Be my teammate!'
I looked at the guildhall and I was finally there
To be a Pokemon in the guild called Clover
