Why is Kanto so depressing?
when will this pokemon revisionism essay type of video ever end...
>>56960140It baited me into clicking it successfully. It's the most boring fucking video you could ever imagine. The dude just does a review on the aesthetic of each town...that's it. >Here's Vermilion City. It's not much of a city. The soundtrack is nice...there's construction always happening though, so I dunno if I'd like to live hear because it'd probably be so noisy! The S.S. Anne isn't here and that is le sad because I miss it.It just oozes of "I had extreme writer's block on making new content so just hit a blunt and freballed this" he even asks several times in the video if his viewers would like more of this content cause it's not like his others, so I can assume this was not what his regular content is like. I don't care to click through any of his other videos to find out though.
>>56960149the video is just him talking about the vibes each town gives off after beating the gameIt was clickbait
>>56960140>game released in 1998 which pushed boundaries at the time appears depressing and uncanny to zoomers looking at the game retroactivelyEveryone who played this game as a kid was too busy swapping pokemon cards and using gameboy links to evolve pokemon to give a shit about le existential dread postgame.
>complete a game that doesn't have any postgame content besides one legendary you can catch by proving you don't need it>wtf there's nothing left to doeveryone knows that OP's video is just padding out some shit 11+ minutes after the threshold needed for monetization
>>56960375>>56960358Why not just call it "Kanto town and city review" then? I don't know about you guys, but I'd be way more interested in somebody passionately talking about the setting than "actually this 30 year old gameboy game is really scary and sad you guys trust me"
>>56961264Not to shill a poketuber but I've genuinely been enjoying this guys videos on thathttps://youtu.be/EPoAp1yQciQ
>>56961273>not a shill but here us a link despite anyone with double digit IQ can see his channel name from the OP imageWhatever spic
>>56961381he's another guy retard
>>56961273I checked out a few minutes and>in this new area is where you find Geodude, which beforehand you couldn't catch but knew existed because of Brock. This gives you a nice sense of progress and "I wanna catch it!" is a real good observation, but way too much of the video is stuff like>Geodude is a Rock and Ground Type with slow speed but good attack and defense. It evolves into Graveler and then into Golem if you trade it.Like every single person watching this video knows that, what is the point?
>>56960140It makes me feel old that all of these ancient internet rumours like the lavender town suicide are being unearthed again by sloptubers. Like, we've already been through all this shit and that rumour was debunked like over a decade ago.
>>56961488>what is the point?padding for time, the youtube algorithm gives preferential treatment to longer videos
>>56961273I only watched The Power Plant video and I couldn't refute any of it
>>56960358this actually sucks because the concept behind the thumbnail is really interesting. The moment when you finish all the scripted events, and the game's world becomes 'dead' has a certain dread to it, and exploration of how the games stop feeling alive at that point could be interestingBut this is just disappointing
>>56960140Because the real postgame was locked behind an entire additional console and game, so the full genwun experience would cost you over 300 bucks at the time.
>>56960149kanto and hoenn were always shit games boomer
>>56962103Johto and Unova are worse
>>56962059This. Same with RSE to a lesser degree with Colosseum.
>>56962103>>56962125You're both semen slurping faggots fyi
>real postgame rby was trading/battling with friends>destroying the league for money>leveling up everything to max
>>56960149I fucking hate clickbait video essays in general, I'm glad AI summarization tech exists so I don't have to waste 20+ minutes of my life listening to some retard talking about shit I already know
>>56961881Every fucking adventure game/rpg is like that.
>>56962633Replaying Red recently, I was surprised how easy it is to just play through the game without grinding, all the way through the elite four. You'll easily be at least ten levels below everything in the last chunk of the game, but the way the game stacks the deck in your favor with the braindead AI, shit tier NPC move sets, the overwhelming nature of type advantages, and even stuff like the badge boosts and stat exp, you'll be cruising through most of it.And then the Unknown Dungeon is a huge level jump even from the Elite Four and that starts to break down a bit. I wondered why I felt the need to grind so much in these games as a kid, but aside from autism about keeping pace with the levels, it seems likely Unknown Dungeon probably prompted it too.
