Now that the dust has settled, what do we think of gen 1?
>>56964273Outdated and janky, but still worth playing at least once.
>>56964273Soulful and great. Infinitely better than Fire Red which are just boring incarnate.>>56964279Classics can never be outdated.
>>56964327Makes sense
>>56964273play for the jank and glitches
>>56964273Fun to play once or twice. If you really enjoy these, play the Shin ROMhacks because they're unilaterally better unless you're only in it for the glitches. I personally get no enjoyment from glitches that I've seen for over 20 years, but some people are into that. If I was able to go back in time, I would give the AI better movesets since they're awful, add a couple of moves from future gens so every type had coverage, make Ghost Special instead of Physical, make it so sleep didn't take an extra turn when you wake up, make TMs more accessible, and fix the PC. No other changes are really necessary.
The best Gen after Gen II. The height of Pokemania which we will never see again - the entire world was Pokemon crazy for 2 years. While the core games are buggy and broken, they're still fun to play for nostalgia or for playing alongside Pokemon Stadium. They also have the best side games in the series - Stadium 1, Snap, TCG1 and Pinball are all GOATed games. Only reason Gen II is better is that GSC are more polished games, loaded with secrets and sidequests, and paired with Stadium 2 they're the ultimate Pokemon experience. Gen 1+2 with their respective Stadium games are peak Pokemon.

>>56964990>the entire world was Pokemon crazy for 2 years.Just like they were about Among Us back in 2020?
>>56965007>idolising an ugly, sweaty virgin that unironically calls himself a 'pro' nuzlocker Idolising this guy because you don't like Gen II isn't the own you think it is, chud.
>>56964273Good to play, autistic nightmare to try and collect them all.
Someone needs to be severely punished
>>56965036>autistic nightmare to try and collect them all.Doesn't that get worse with each generation though?
>>56965010Not even remotely the same thing. People IRL didn't really talk much about Among Us, Burger King didn't make bank off of selling Among Us toys with their meals. Pokemania was one-of-a-kind.
>>56965190I see
>>56965183You can breed in later generations. In gen 1 if you wanted all of the starters and your friend wanted the same, one of you had to restart your game 6 times and trade the starter each time.
>>56965200Oh, right
>>56965200The existence of Pokemon Stadium makes this an irrelevant point. Gen 1 is without question the easiest Generation to obtain all Pokemon. Stop getting all your information from idiot YouTubers.
best gameboy game of all time
>>56964273yes
>>56966570Yes indeed
>>56964273I know that I own all three CIB, having bought them when they were $60 each. I honestly don't know what they're worth now, but I bet it's higher than what I paid for them. That's what I think.
>>56964273Classic as fuckBlue Version is Best versionBlastoise is Best Gen 1 starter
>>56964273It feels mostly like a chore at this point. I've been completing a Living Dex in Gen 2 Virtual Console (trading with myself since I have two 3DS's) & I needed to do two runs on Kanto for both fossils on top of the Kanto GSC postgame twice (for Gold exclusives). The Kanto map is honestly barebones. Silph Co., Seafoam Islands and Cerulean Cave are the only parts I find somewhat engaging. I still like Gen 2, but I'll pass on Gen 1 and the remakes for at least a few years.
>>56968634All I have left now is Celebi, but I can trade it in from the Crystal save that I completed back in 2021.
>>56968068Probably like 250$ each now idk
>>56968634Why do you do this to yourself?
