Platinum sure, but not DP. DP selection for main campaign is more more restrictive than RS, which is why they had to expand the Sinnoh Dex in Platinum but didn't need to expand the Hoenn Dex in Emerald. The only other time they had to expand the Dex was in BW2 and that was because fans were butthurt that BW forced them to use entirely new Pokémon.

The problem isn't only limited to fire types. There are only three options for electric in DP: one of them is a Pikaclone (Pachirisu) and another is the Pikachu line itself. That's why everyone uses Luxray even though Luxray a shitmon. Magnezone is available only in the postgame of DP. Everyone talks about Flint using Lopunny and Steelix yet Volkner uses an Ambipom. DP also has around the same number of ice Pokemon as RS even though DP has multiple snow routes unlike Hoenn which is subtropical and has only one ice cave (Shoal Cave) and it's not even a large cave like Ice Cave in GSC, Twist Mountain in BW, or Frost Cavern in Kalos. When making DP they put Medicham and Machoke on the snow routes leading to Acuity Lakefront and Snowpoint just so they could pad out the postgame by making Swinub and Snorunt Pokeradar exclusives. In order to make his "ultimate game," Masuda made the main campaign worse and hampered replayability. The large number of swarm Pokemon and Great Marsh rotations also do nothing but function as a slow drip feed of new Pokemon for Dex completion. Imagine how much more useful it would've been if all these Pokémon were available before the postgame? People would have way more options on replays.

When DP came out the only games that you could trade with were other Sinnoh games, so that's a moot point. PalPark isn't a trade, it's a one-way transfer that is only accessible in the postgame and had a limit of six Pokemon every 24 hours. HGSS removed that Palpark restriction and BWBW2 had no restriction in Poketransfer Lab, so I guess they must've eventually come to the conclusion that the 24 hour turnover pointless.

I was going by final stages only and Steelix isn't a rock type. I included Dusclops, Roselia, Nosepass and Magneton for Ruby only because Dusknoir, Roserade, Probopass and Magnezone didn't exist yet and at the time of release, those were the final stages.
If we include all stages then one could argue that there are five fire types available in Diamond and seven electric types (including Shinx, Luxio, Pichu, and Pikachu). But most people are only concerned with the final evolution.

I literally did not care for Pidgey being at the beginning of the game, and insinuating that is a problem is just admitting you have no real issues with the game and are just fabricating reasons to criticize it.
The real reasons gen 6 was weak are actually few in number, and can be summarized like so

I know people don't really like the origin form design's but I find it cool that when the embodiment of time/space stick around uncontrolled for long enough they start to become more godlike as if they are about to become the new god of the universe it kinda gives merit to Cyrus's plan in DP.

That being said they did make them look a little too strange and weird to have wide spread appeal. Although palkia gets more hate because of its armless shoulders I think it's the better design. It looks like a bissare astronaut knight centaur sculpture thing I don't really know what Dialga is supposed to look like
