>>56970551Kino
>>56970100this route really set the stage for XY
Why'd they give up on making more routes like this?
>>56970100>>56970591Route design has seriously declined since.
>thread is just MORE EQUAL BETTERER!!!!Kalos Route 1 sucks and so do all the ones posted here.
>>56970597>has off-beaten path>has entire bridge>has trailer + triple/rotation battles intro>has hidden grotto>>56970602>has off-beaten path>has entire bridge>has strength and cut paths>>56970608>has off-beaten path>has entire bridge attached>has challenger's cave>has shopping mall nine>has hidden grottoYep, routes went downhill after this.
>>56970608>>56970609>>56970614>>56970616The funniest part is that all of these are late game routes. They really gave up on route design in these games.
Another Unova seethe thread
Oh yawn
>OP asks for best routes>Unova gets posted mostWe're so back.I like how this one has so many surf layers and leads to Abundant Shrine if you're careful, which is basically yet another route with mud puzzles.
>>56970624No, they actually put a lot of effort in the late game. Route one itself is backtrackable to the point of two more routes.
>>56970652>they actually put a lot of effort in the late gameevidently not
>>56970654Evidently yes by what I just said, coupled with the image attached. Try actually reading.
>>56970143>>56970551These ones are my favorite. Big fan of the longer routes.>>56970603Hey there were atleast 2 great ones posted here
>"b-but the late game sucks-">>56970595>*blocks your path*
>>56970659>Evidently yesevidently not by all the tiny linear maps
>>56970100Good job posting the, by definition, worst Pokemon route in the series. No wonder the thread dissolved. it was always rotten from the start.
>>56970666anyone can put a bunch of maps together in a collage to pretend the game is complex brodoesn't mean much when there are NPCs constantly telling you where you can and can't go
>>56970669What tiny linear maps? Show me. The only one I see ITT is Kalos Route 1.
>>56970659What image attached? The only high effort one I see ITT is Kalos Route 1.
>>56970678>complexity doesn't matter because I deflect to NPCs out of NO WHERE when it's convenientNow you're just starting a completely tangential argument with nothing supporting it. How else is complexity measured?
>>56970688>>complexity doesn't matterIt does matter, but you haven't shown any complexity
>>56970687This image attached>>56970652You know, the one you responded to.>parrotsNice conceeding.>high effort>Kalos Route 1How is that high effort? You brought up tiny linear routes being bad. It's the tiniest and most linear route in the series. Surely you should hate it, right? If you don't answer this it's yet another concession and an admission you don't read the posts that you respond to.
>>56970682>What tiny linear maps?>>56970597>>56970602>>56970608>>56970609>>56970614>>56970616>>56970633

>>56970624And on top of that, Unova has the fewest routes in the series. So those routes take up a large percentage of the game which is pretty sad.
>>56970698>none are linearGee, still waiting. the only linear map ITT is Kalos route 1, and it's also the absolute tiniest.

>>56970727too bad in that case complex doesn't equal good
>>56970733True. All those BW2 routes that are supposedly """complex""" are pretty bad because the gameplay is boring
>>56970717fog sucks balls but the music is wonderful
>>56970715god this game had so much soul and attention to detail
>>56970715This isn't even complex anon, just bulbepedo screenshot put lines everywhere in the kalos routes to make it seem that way.For instance, the entire right half of the image can be stitched together because they're all connected to each other with two way signs, so it's literally just one map.Same thing with the bottom two sections of the left side.
>>56970735>the gameplay is boringSource?
>>56970742>This isn't even complexit's obvious you don't know what the word "complex" even means
>>56970735You're absolutely right. XY's "complex" routes are absolutely marred by Kalos being a godawful region with horrible pacing issues, and having no proper identity of it's own due to overcorrecting after Unova dared to make the fanbase use new Pokémon for once instead of allowing you to use Pikachu and Charizard yet again.
>>56970591Holy kino.
>>56970755How so? I literally just explained how that image makes the route more complex than it actually is. Meanwhile, you just asserted the BW2 maps aren't complex without any substance behind your posts, while they are.
>>56970715here's another kalos route designed to aggressively waste your time!btw the """cave""" it leads to is also complex!

>>56970865What do you think OP is doing?
>>56970900According to my infinite wisdom, he's speaking the truth
>>56970619As >>56970849 said, single room locations are bad.
>>56970896>You said it yourself. They're entirely spliced together, therefore they're less complex than XY route 20.Who the fuck are you quoting?>>56970904As standalone locations, yes. But routes that lead to places, even if like that, are better than routes that don't.
>>56970849But routes that lead to places, even if like that, are better than routes that don't
>>56971023>Who the fuck are you quoting?>>56970742>the entire right half of the image can be stitched togetherIf the map isn't complex because half of it is stitched together, then those other maps are even less complex because the entire map is stitched together.
>>56971075Yes, you parroted me. How does that help your case? When judging routes, leading to many places makes the route better, When judging a region, having named single-room locations for, say, a cave is a bad thing. Tell me what Kalos routes lead to those places that were mentioned in Kalos? the only one is Berry Fields being in Kalos Route 7, which no one criticized Route 7 for lacking anything. Meanwhile, you're criticizing Unova routes even though they have all this extra stuff in comparison>>56970619, most of which aren't separately named locations like kalos does to inflate their named location count.>>56971078Holy Mother of ESLs. I didn't say stitched = non-complex. I said that Kalos R20 CAN BE stitched together, and the makers of the image arbitrarily separated so many parts of it and slapped a bunch of lines that mean nothing (since most are two-way anyway) to make it seem more complicated than it is. That's not at all the same as saying "you connected maps that are connected therefore you're deceiving" like you're implying. That woods image is simpler than what appears like because they SEPARATED things and added elements to the image that didn't need to be there.
>>56971451>How does that help your case?routes that lead to places, even if like that, are better than routes that don't
>>56971451>I didn't say stitched = non-complexSo Kalos route 20 is the most complex route in the series, and you haven't made an argument otherwise.
>>56971508>routes that lead to places, even if like that, are better than routes that don'tRight, so All the Unova routes you mentioned are good now. Also, all those unnamed kalos locations don't even come from routes lmao, so nice onethe only one is Berry Fields being in Kalos Route 7, which no one criticized Route 7 for lacking anything. Meanwhile, you're criticizing Unova routes even though they have all this extra stuff in comparison>>56970619 (You), most of which aren't separately named locations like kalos does to inflate their named location count.>>56971514>So [thing I asserted without evidence]I explained how it isn't complex anon. >>56971524>Right, so All the Unova routes you mentioned are good nowRight, so all the Kalos routes you mentioned are good now.

>>56970551Soul
>>56971529What Kalos Routes did I criticize for not leading anywhere?>>56971533It's "Kalos Route 20 is much less complex than it looks because the image overcomplicates it" and "These Unova routes are complex because they have the most paths within them ITT".

>>56970100why is this even a route and not a big starting town instead?
>>56974302Because.
>>56974302Because it's supposed to showcase the new 3D world of Pokemon on the 3DS
>>56976043Why does that, which boils down to moving the camera around, somehow excuse it being as bad of a route as it is? You didn't really answer the question.

>>56979477>Doesn’t apply in reverse lolYes it does lol>>56979477>You haven’t done the same for the other routesYou said it yourself, they're entirely stitched together, therefore they're simpler
>>56970100The route in Sinnoh with all the snow
>>56979644>yes it does Not even close>you said it yourself, [thing no one ever said and doesn’t even make sense]Holy Mother of ESLs.
>>56981056>Not even closeTrue, the Kalos one is way more complex.>I didn't say stitched = non-complexTherefore you have yet to explain how the route isn't complex.
>>56981292>Kalos more complexNope, I explained how it’s simple. You haven’t done the same for the other routes. >thereforeNope. Already explained. The image separated parts that are just contiguous to make it seem like the areas swap more than they do.
>>56981494>Nope, I explained how it’s simpleNo you didn't
>>56981584Yes I did. The image separated parts that are just contiguous to make it seem like the areas swap more than they do.
>>56981591You said yourself that that doesn’t mean it’s not complex.
>>56984001Nuh-uh
>>56984001I never said that. What I said is the picture of it pretends it’s more complex than it really is. The gimmick of the route is non-contigiousness of the sections, yet the image separates sections that are perfectly contiguous, which complicates what’s really an extremely simple route. Like I said, the entire right side is just a regular map, as well as the bottom of the left. If you look at it that way, it’s extremely simple, especially compared to other routes ITT.
>>56984116Whatever man
>>56984179If you’re still the same guy, I wanna encourage you to not just give up. If there really is something I’m missing, bring it to my attention.
>>56984116>I never said that>>56981056>I didn't say stitched = non-complex
>>56984380>no you actually did say that, here’s a post of you not saying that, but you totally said it!Try again
>>56970100Here's my favorite from each genKanto: None I really liked that much. I'll go with Route 1.Johto: Route 46. It's so cool heading back to New Bark Town this way. Plus I caught Entei here as a kid.Hoenn: Route 119 because it has some of the best optional exploration in the seriesSinnoh: I found Sinnoh pretty boring but 209 because musicUnova: Either Route 4 or Route 23.Kalos: Hard to say. It's been a while. Maybe Route 20, Winding WoodsAlola: Route 10Galar: NonePaldea: Doesn't have traditional routes. I liked South Province though.
>>56984389>here’s a post of you not saying thatWhy lie?
>>56970551This route is a real stand out in Johto, putting it so early in the game was genius on game freak's part cause that's when the games need it the most, once you get to Goldenrod the boost in available content is significant enough that you don't notice when the routes get shorter and simpler for pretty much the rest of Johto (route 26/27 are technically Kanto)
>>56984880It’s true. It literally does not say that, ESL.
>>56970708Underrated route, wish more people gave it the acknowledgement it deserves. It marks the first major gap between settlements in Sinnoh and does it quite well, my only complaint is that the heal house makes it extremely obvious that free heals from your NPC partners were added at the last minute.
>>56985363>I didn't say stitched = non-complex>ummm wait no I mean stitched = non-complexPick one. It can't be both.
