He’s also fairly frugal and wouldn’t expect presents in return, but he’d do his best. We've done a few interviews with trainers in the past. But now with modern advancements to Pokedex technology we can translate pokemon speech into human speech. This means we can finally perform interviews not just with the trainer but their pokemon as well. The Ultra Wormholes and Terapagos time distortions that would be only happening in Alola or Paldea are happening all across the land, just infrequently. Likewise, I can see commissions/quests being posted to get rid of them given their unusual aggression. Generational gimmicks are also scattered, and can only be used in certain locations where the power is strong enough (e.x you can Tera only when there’s Tera crystals nearby), likewise, I think that there would also be commissions to stop rampaging Dynamax/Tera Pokemon that got overloaded with the power and grew in size and violent tendencies. As for the combat, there’s going to be good amounts of man v man, man v mon, mon v mon, and shared combat, but I think you’ll just have to wait for my writing in order to see how I imagine it. I think most of the times that humans get involved, they wouldn’t be directly fighting, but they’d support their mom from the sidelines, such as Alex shooting at the enemy’s Pokemon when he gets an opening. People are less wary of attacking each other’s Pokemon on this AU, while there would be very few moments of humans shooting/stabbing a Pokemon during a fight in Alex’s canon since afterwards they’re an easy target, here humans can actually reasonably defend themselves from mons so they’re not as cautious.

Even though media has been trending towards moral relativism since the start of the 21st century, I still find it lacking in actively pessimistic stories that don't just go overboard into "grimdark", which frustrates me because pessimism in storytelling is now starting to become associated with 40K style "hopelessness" and in turn is leading towards non-positive stories being perceived as without merit, which sucks.

Tajiri's early childhood catching bugs in an environment that felt much bigger than it really was is the obvious one that most people relate to the strongest; but to really understand the Pokemon mindset, you need to also understand its forerunners in Dragon Quest and SMT along with their own precursors of blobbers and the Cyberpunk tabletop game. Then you need to account for Japanese historical context with Shintoism, Kuji-in and Chi/Xi/Ki/whatever, toss it all in a blender and hit frappé, and presto: it's a Pikachu. Later remakes would muddy the original vision to make Kanto more like Shudo's interpretation in the anime, but you can see these elements at play best in the original RBY version of Celadon City. An absolute crown jewel of shit where Erika's garden was the outlier in a city of filthy water, spartan apartments, overwhelming commercialization, narrow alleyways, gambling dens and yakuza business. It's a setpiece that absolutely screams Cyberpunk's high tech, low life themes.

I know it sounds weird, but I had that feeling more in Saffron City: the HQ of a giant conglomerate is the center of the city, you need to walk around the giant megalopolis rather than between the streets, and maybe there was one or two buildings with normal people, but most were obviously rich city slickers. Hell, I even felt the dojo more like one of those gyms you go and pay a subscription fee to join, even when it was just muscleheads having sparring sessions between each other.Also, I never felt Pokémon as a cyberpunk setting, but more to post dystopia stories: you can go to the nature, you can enjoy small chill moments behind a truck watching the sky or camping in a small cave. But then you go into the city and can take a flying bus, or use teleporters to reach different areas in the city.

Celadon City's outskirts are packed with roving biker gangs shaking down passerby, its main streets are brazenly owned by the yakuza, the strongest Trainer in town and her entourage would rather stay in their secluded garden literally walled off from the world (except for a persistent old pervert) than lift a finger to do anything, a casino is selling extremely rare species up to and including a 3D-printed sentient supercomputer that (you) will never ever ever be able to afford, and the yakuza oyabun is carrying a piece of technology that lets you see ghosts. High tech, low life, savvy?

But of course, that's not what happened, because Iron Bundle busted a cap in Apollo's ass, and then Phos decided to start showing off her midriff.

The riffing reminds me a lot of classic-era Unearth, All That Remains, and Darkest Hour, except without harsh vocals.

The idea of having a "now what?" moment is a new concept for her. Like the character she's inspired by, there's really nothing she couldn't accomplish with time; but I would lean towards becoming a parkour instructor, social worker, fashion model (she's sure got the height), an A&R scout for street musicians, et cetera.

A friend recently asked me if Emily feels fear at all. I figured I'd blab the same answer here in case people wondered about it. She feels fear, but she doesn't respond to it in the same way normal people do. Where others feel crushed beneath it's tide, reduced to naught but a disheveled, mewling wreck, she feels nothing but seething rage. Anything that makes her feel any semblance of fear brings out an unfathomable anger, an unhinged, animalistic animosity, a murderous drive to utterly exterminate whatever caused it. It starts with that tingle through one's extremities and then down her spine, the initial sensation that precedes the actual fear. A momentary pause as blank eyes suddenly widen and the air around her completely changes, like being stared at by a predator on the verge of attacking with the intention of tearing whatever threatened it to shreds. For all she can feel is a sudden eruption of anger, an anger that so intense her entire body shakes. Any foolish enemy would assume it was trembling...up until she has practically leapt into their rib cage and is ripping everything she can find in it clean out by hand, howling like an animal and practically roaring to the best her little voice can between frantic breaths as fear is met with murderous intent.1/2

The invisible bond which ties together Emily and Mawlie came under intense strain as it's usual harmony became chaotic, frantic and frayed, and as those chaotic reverberations bounced off of their minds and hearts until something finally snapped. Mawlie involuntarily Mega Evolved as the sheer energy surge poured through them both, drove them mad and into a berserk fury as the power BURNED within them both and everything blurred into a cacophony of screams, roars and blood. When her senses became clear again, Kyurem was disfigured but alive-- by Mawlie's hands. Ghetsis was beneath herself-- dead-- as his blood was all over her and he was practically ripped apart and bludgeoned into an unrecognizable carcass.Any fear response would bring her back to that moment and illicit that same rage. For it was her first taste of real fear of any kind.
