Name a worse mechanic
>>57061411Mega evolution
>>57061411neet filter + sped filter kino trees are based
>>57061414>he doesn't have spread moves>he doesn't use the myriad of overpowered Orbs>he doesn't use the myriad of overpowered Wands>he doesn't have Reviver SeedsMonster Houses aren't bad at all except in the Explorers games, where you run into enemies with Agility giving all the enemies double turns. Later games even give you ways to detect them. Like most things in the Mystery Dungeon franchise - not just Pokemon - it's all about resource management.

>>57061411How's that PT run going anon?
>>57061411Mercedes pit crew, 28th of July, 2019
>>57061411Oof I remember I hated the honey trees. I could never get that Munchlax to complete the dex.I ended up just transferring my Snorlax from leaf green and breeding it.
>>57061411GSC/HGSS rematches being based on specific times of specific days
>>57061411We need more mechanics like thisIt makes the Pokémon you do catch from it just that much more rewarding
>>57061411can't
>>57061649this was kino thobeit
>>57061455thisthey have zero place in casual play (because the campaign's difficulty doesn't have anywhere close to tight enough tolerances for IVs to actually matter, and since barely any opposing trainers have EVs you'll always have higher stats than the enemy assuming equal levels due to EVs) and in competitive play (because they add an unnecessary barrier to entry that shouldn't exist in any competitive scene, period; see picrel)also they spit in the face of one of the franchise's intended messages that you can overcome everything if your bond with your pokemon is strong enough, despite the fact that your mons will be mechanically inferior without perfect IVsand I swear to god if someone implies "they make mons more unique" yeah uniquely worse if you try to bring them into battle against players with mons with full IVs, and there's ways to make mons unique from each other without randomly making some worse than others with no way to change them; there's natures, abilities, EV spreads, moves, pokeballs, shininess, nicknames, held items, and possibly more depending on generation>but muh bottlecapsunnecessary halfassed solution to a problem that could have been easily removed in the first placethe only justification for IVs was hidden power but that got removed with gen 8 five years agoEVs are fine for both gameplay and story purposes as they're reassignable via berries (in gens 4+) and represent your mons getting stronger after constantly fighting by your side
>>57061411Seasons were worse, I'll take a few hours for the dumb trees over literal months.
The grootos in Gen 5, where you have maybe a 1-5% chance of getting anything good on each day. When I think about it, Pokemon has a lot of insane RNG like this to keep you checking back.
Trade evos
>>57061411When I was filling out the dex during a diamond run I was able to get every honey tree mon except Munchlax before I even left Eterna city, I genuinely have no idea why people complain about it so much other than severe lack of patience.
Stylishness is fucking retarded
>>57061414>>57061435>Rush out of the Monster house>One guy follows you>Petrify, stun, etc that one guy>Now he blocks the Monster House entranceas a living roadblock and the others can't follow you anymore>Now just wait for them to spread to take them on in a reasonable pace or just ruch the stairs.
>>57063713>>57061455basedIVs are such a dogshit mechanic
>>57061455>>57063713>>57065648>EVsCool idea, poor execution. The system is never explained so your casual players will never know of its existance and you can't control which EVs you get, so if you beat a SP attack Pokémon with a regular attack pokémon, you will still gain SP attack, which gets you nothing. Also there is no reliable way to lower EVs in every game meaning that if you level the wrong ones, by just playing the game, you will be stuck with bad EVs. Basically, the only way to get good EVs is spending hours "EV training" and maxing out the ones you need BEFORE doing any actual gameplay with the mon that might waste EV points on suboptimal stats.>IVs>NaturesThese are just pure cancer>ShiniesThis is a troll mechanic designed to drive perfectionists into madness.>Time limited FOMO events in a regular game, FOMO exclusive map areas and the entire mythical Pokémon thingI still don't understand how everyone is ok with that. These games are such a mess when you think about it. At least they are so easy that IVs, EVs and Natures will never even matter because you oneshot everything regardless.

>>57061411catching legally distinct critters in balls
>>57061411Tera Hats
>>57066880Would be cool if it was expanded into different kinds of restricted battles. Could do things like only pokemon that could dig, only bug pokemon, only purple pokemon... Would make team building interesting and give you a reason to train different mons.
